Heyy❤ yes i use the white if you said i am using it point blank i do not alter any of my ingredients againt your recipe comes out fine i was wondering about the flavor & the gel coloring b4 or after i think i will go with the after the candy cooks i will be making these red candy apples for my grandson class for Christmas thank you so much this was very helpful‼️🥰🤗❤️
When I was pregnant with baby #3 I used to eat the candy apples from the grocery store almost daily. It's a good thing your channel didn't exist at that time because if I actually knew how to make them at home, I would be big as a house! 😂
Love how u explain everything!! I’m a beginner just subscribed. I just bought my apples🙂 tried candy grapes but they melted 😞 would this recipe be okay for suckers as well?
Yes, I actually have a video on leftover candy using it as lollipops. Grapes don’t last long anyways. Make sure your house is cool before making candy apples and not humid because that can make your candy melt. If your house is humid to will need to place candy apples in the refrigerator right after dipping them.💕
A few drops of each until you get the desired color. Dont use too much white because it will turn pink. Test your colors like this and try not to add over a teaspoon of each because too much gel food coloring makes your candy apples thick. - ruclips.net/user/shortsRL-jiskFvuY?si=5nKVpwIxyCl12iPW
Hey! How would you achieve the fair candy apple flavor? Is that by adding now flavoring at all or vanilla extract or is that what the butter vanilla is for?
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I pray mine turn out like yours. I would like to try and sale them. May I ask how much to charge pr candy apple? Thanks.
You will do great! Treat makers usually will sell plain candy apples, which means 1 color and a wooden stick for $5-6 per apple. Anything decorative like a bling stick, bow, fondant, or edible image is anywhere from $8-15 per apple depending on your experience. I hope this helps you.💕
Thank you so much for this video. I’m doing my first batch this weekend, and this video is very helpful. I do have a few questions. If I am adding flavored oil, when do I put that in? And do I still need to add the butter vanilla with it? Also with using the powdered syrup, should I refrigerate the apples? It’s extremely hot right now, and even with the air on it is humid.
Hello, and thank you for the questions. Only use one flavoring, don’t use both. If it’s humid, make sure your kitchen is below 70 degrees. Personally I prefer 65 degrees. Do not dip your candy apples on or near the stove. Dip them on a kitchen counter. Bag them right away. Or if you are using the clear boxes, box them right away after dipping your candy apples. Yes, place them in the refrigerator right away whether you’re using liquid or powdered corn syrup because it’s humid. I hope this helps you.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA hello I read that you said bag the apples right away after dipping, wouldn't that heat cause the candy to melt on the apples? I thought that you are suppose to let them cool first then bag?
About time you dip your last apple, your first ones are cool enough to bag. You can go ahead and start bagging your candy apples with the first candy apple dipped....in that order.
Thanks for the reply, we have tried it several times, your recipe works great, we do however find the covering, after time runs away and pools, we dried the mini apples and put them in the freezer pre dipping, would you think adding a little more Hi-sweet powdered corn syrup would help, we are thinking it’s the moisture from the spoiled apples, this is the part we a suggestion for. Thank you
@DIYQUEENDIVA 😫I'm using a gas stove & it's not going pass 215 or maybe I'm rushing it... how long does it normally take for it to temp to the 280-300 mark...
It stays around that and 220 for a long time...lol. It takes an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. Have patience and let that candy reach 300 degrees....lol. It'll get there but let it reach to 300 now.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I cleaned them today. I did 7 to 10 seconds but I’m not sure the wax is all removed. They did change colors somewhat. They aren’t green anymore. Maybe it’s just me being worried. Should I add the sticks tomorrow then wipe and hold another 24hrs?
I always add mine in the beginning when I mix my ingredients or else I will forget. You can also add it when your candy reaches 280 degrees while it's cooking but don't stir the candy apple mixture just wait until it reaches 300 degrees and take it off the stove before you stir it up. So stir ingredients at the beginning before putting on the stove and after your candy apple mixture reaches 300 degrees and take it off the stove to stir. I hope this help you.💕
Hi I want to make sure I’m understanding I ordered white on Amazon because I don’t live anywhere near a hobby lobby. The brand I ordered was Chefmaster Bright White liquid white gel food coloring. Have you ever used this brand? Also, I’m adding this in order to get the bright red color on my apples correct? How many drops do I add and at what point do I add it to the mixture again? I’m so bummed I have to wait til next week to make my apples I won’t get my alcohol free butter vanilla “Gusteaus alcohol free , sugar free until Monday from Amazon! I’m wondering if Safeway (my closest store) would have a butter vanilla. Do you have any other recommendations for another brand or even flavour oil that would be good? I’m craving these darn apples lol ty again!!
Any brand gel food coloring is fine. The things I use are for my preference and suggest those because I’m 100% sure they work pretty good since I use them all the time. When you use white for your red candy apples to prevent your candy apples from being translucent, just make sure to use a few drops of white so you don’t get pink candy apples. I hope this helps. Oh, yeah you can use whatever flavoring you so desire. I try to stick with clear flavorings so it won’t turn my candy a different color than attempting because some flavorings have different color tints added.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Ty !have you used just vanilla extract? I’m craving this so bad lol I have no patience to wait for the butter vanilla! lol if I do use the vanilla extract I just need to be aware of it’s got alcohol in it right? Sorry for all the questions, I’m not good at baking or cooking! lol 😂
LOLLLLLLL! You don't have to wait on the butter vanilla...lol. You can use any flavoring you want. I just use clear flavorings to avoid my candy apples from turning the colors of the extract plus I love the classic butter vanilla. For an example: vanilla is usually brown and strawberry is red. What if I want to make white candy apples? Now I got to fool with these unwanted colors LOLLLLL! If it has alcohol in it, they say add the flavoring at the end instead of the beginning. Me personally, I add everything at the beginning and don't notice a difference...LOLLLLLLL!
Sorry I didn’t understand about how to clean the apples how many times do I dip them in the hot water and how long do I let them sit out before dipping them?
Hi. Only dip your apples in the hot water for 6 seconds. Leave them out on your kitchen counter for 24-48 hours. During that wait period continue to wipe your apples off with a paper towel. I used this recipe and followed the measurements exactly (with the exception of using regular corn syrup, and i dont have white gel), and it made fudge! Where did I go wrong?
Hi! You didn’t follow my measurements or recipe, because you would’ve had perfect candy apples. You went wrong by not using light corn syrup. It sounds like your candy burned and seized up at the same time. Make sure your candy is on low-medium. Using a candy thermometer let your candy cook to 300 degrees. You will fail before you start if you don’t have a candy thermometer. Don’t stir your mixture while it’s cooking on the stove as this will cause your candy to seize. Once it hits the stove you don’t stir. You must use white to avoid translucent candy apples. I hope this helps you.💕
I saw another candy apple creator say you shouldn't cover the apple all the way up to the stick, because it doesn't allow space for the apple to seap, which it's gonna continue to do. Thus causing the apple candy to break down faster. I was wondering your thoughts on that?? 😊
I cover mine so it won’t break down faster. If it’s not covered it’s not cute either for candy apples. It can be confusing to make candy apples when you have conflicting information. Candy Apples are my thing.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Absolutely, and I am so glad you understand that. As I beginners I just don't know, and both ways sound logical. Leave space for the seap to come out. Just so I am understanding correctly, you're saying that the full cover is making them have a longer shelf life, yes? 😊

Thank you. Medium is fine or put stove on 4 or 5. I hope this helps you.💕
What temperature should I cook the mixture at? Medium? Low?
Cook to 300 degrees on low-medium. If you have an electric stove anywhere between 4-5.💕
are you using a gas stove or a electric type stove
Electric, but any stove will work. On a gas stove don't go no higher than 4 because a gas stove gets hotter than an electric one.
