12 PERFECT Super Red Candy Apples - Candy Apple Recipe for 12 to 24

- Candy Apple TV: Knowing the Best Candy Apple Recipe for 12 Apples is a beginners dream! Many beginners have a hard time learning how to make candy apples. Let alone covering up to 12 candy apples at the beginning with 3-1-1 and 4-1-1 candy apple recipes. I will show you how to get 12 candy apples dipped and covered in one session, and how to get the perfect red candy apples. This is a candy apple recipe that I highly recommend no substitution if you want perfect candy apples.
This candy apple tutorial means so much to me because when I first started making candy apples I could NOT get 12 candy apples covered in one pot either, let alone red candy apples. This is why I am here to show beginners how to get 12 Granny Smith apples covered without the candy apple headaches!
This is Candy Apple TV, and I'm your host Diy Queen Diva.
I was always told to double my candy apple recipe. I felt like 8 cups of sugar and 2 cups of corn syrup for 12 candy apples was just too much sugar. I wanted to make candy apples not diabetes.
6-4-1 candy apple recipe is the recipe that I will be using. 6-4-1 means:
6 cups sugar
4 cups water
1 cup light corn syrup
Flavor
I use this PERFECT CANDY APPLE RECIPE because it the best candy apple recipe for beginners and the candy is not too thick. Plus you can get all candy apples covered before your candy thickens up. So now you know what I mean when I say this candy apple tutorial means so much to me.
You want to be able to get all of your candy apples covered out of one pot without having to make more candy or re-heating your candy apple mixture again. Now that's a headache!
I add 1.5 teaspoons of LorAnn Gourmet Butter Vanilla 99.9% of the time for my flavor at the beginning or I will forget to add it when my candy reaches 280 degrees. There is no wrong way to do this. Let me clarify using Butter Vanilla at the beginning does NOT change the flavor or boil out any alcohol because there's no alcohol in this particular flavor.
Your customers will love it! In fact Butter Vanilla by LorAnn's is the only flavor I use unless the customer requests a different flavor.
Not only am I an expert on the computer, but I darn know more than the average cook in the kitchen....lol! I'm a southern mountain country gal who loves to eat good southern food! :)

If you want the perfect candy apple you must make sure you take the time to scrape the bottom of your candy apples on the side of your pot. Doing this will make you have the perfect candy apples. Omg
I can’t tell you how excited I am to run upon your video!! Although I now know how to make candy apples I spent a lot of time
Searching for tutorial on how to make candy apples and all the ones I have seen showed you the ingredients but never explained that there were differences in the type of coloring or just to take time to go through different elements. I never found one that went through the basics on you are a gem 💎
Thank you so much for the teaching anointing on your life !!! You rock!!!❤❤
You're so welcome! This means so much to me.💞
I tried your recipe this weekend and WOW love it! I will be using 6-4-1 from now on. The BEST!!!
I'm so glad you tried it. As Nicki Minaj would say with my remix, "This is the Candy Apple Moment 4 Life, 4 Life, 4 Life!"😂😂😂😂
I can't thank you enough for this awesome tutorial! I have tried this twice and my apples came out perfect both times! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Can't wait to try some of your other apples! 🥰
You're so welcome.💕
I love how you always explain your process while working your magic thank you again will try this weekend
Ok, make sure you reach out if you have any questions.
These are so pretty… Thank you so much for taking your time to show us how to make these apples ❤❤❤
You’re so welcome 😉
Beautiful apples😍 I follow your method, and it's perfect every time. Thank you for sharing your method.
You're so welcome.
Girl I love you! I thank you so much for sharing. I tried other recipes and they were not it. Your recipe is truly the perfect recipe.
You are so welcome Latoya! I'm so glad this worked out for you. You're just in time to make candy apples for Halloween. I luv you back!💕
Your video is EVERYTHING!! Very clear, detailed and descriptive! You did an amazing job for all beginners, I just wish I had stumbled across your tutorial a year ago lol. And yes I was one of those people who tried all the candy apple recipes that did work! They said it was but NO, I couldn’t even make it through 7 apples and my candy mixture was starting to thicken and harder so fast.
I have an order this Friday and I’m going to try this method and see how it goes. Thank you for sharing 😌
Thank you so much, and you're so welcome. You'll love this candy apple recipe.
Thank God for you sharing your tips I really appreciate it. Tried for the first time and it came out great
That's wonderful! I'm glad I was able to help you on your candy apple journey....lol. Since I'm kind of new on RUclips, make sure you tell your family and friends about my channel.
Can’t wait to try this recipe next week on spring break. Thank you
You will love it! You're so welcome.
Thank you so much for this recipe, I will give it a try and come back and tell you how they came out. Also I appreciate you explaining to us what types of color to use for apples. Thank you ☺
You are so welcome!
Thank you the apples are beautiful and you were very detailed I cant wait to try this
You are so welcome! You got this!💕
I had such a hard time with the other recipes, the mix wouldn't turn out right and I was like something is missing. Then I found your videos and they have been a great help. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You are so welcome! I'm glad I could help you.
Thank you sooo much !! That’s what I needed to know!!
You’re so welcome.💕
Very informative! Thanks so much.
You are so welcome Lisa! You got this!
I have to try this. I love candy apples but I have never made them. Great tutorial!
You’re so welcome 💕
I love this recipe. One tip I've learned for easier dipping is to start with the largest apple and work down to the smallest. When there is more candy in pot.
Thank you so much. That’s a great tip but I just dip as I go because I always have enough candy to cover my apples regardless of size. This is why I love this candy apple recipe.💕
Looks so good!!! 😋😋😋
Thank you so much. They are too good....lol💕
Great tutorial thanks 😊
You’re so welcome 😊
SUPER thank you
Amen
You’re so welcome 😉
I was told to double the recipe as well and of course I wasn't able to dip 12 apples with those other recipes so yes I'm going to try 6-4-1 & see how I come out
You will love it! Make sure you come back and let me know how it worked out for you.
loved your video 🥰 yummmmmmy❤
Thank you so much!💕
So informative thank you! New subscriber
You're so welcome and thank you so much for subscribing!
I’m sooooo happy I found your page! I couldn’t even dip my grapes using the 211 method! It was wayyyyy too thick and hardened after like 10 grapes 😢 I’m trying this when I get home today!
I'm so glad you found me too! I'm trying to help as many as I can because I had the exact same problem. I knew it was just more than me having those issues. You will love this candy apple recipe.💕
@brianna I’m just starting out and I’ve had the same problem with the 4-1-1. I can barely get grapes covered, and forget about any other kind of fruit. I’m wondering if it’s because that recipe is for a different climate or elevation. I’m in Baltimore, MD and 4-1-1 isn’t working. I’m excited to see how the 6-4-1 works for me
@@aishahnagi Honey chileeeeeeee, you will love it! This is the main reason why I created this channel. I knew other people was having that same problem. I had to come and share once I figured everything out about candy apples, candy apple bows, etc. This will help you! Make sure you come back and let me know. The only thing is this candy apple recipe takes a little longer to reach 300 degrees, but honey chileeeee you'll be able to dip so many candy apples to perfection. Perfection takes time!
Gracias , me encantan tus videos 🫶🏻
De nada. Avíseme si tiene alguna pregunta sobre las manzanas de caramelo o los lazos de manzana de caramelo.

I'm about to make this recipe now
Ok. Make sure you have a candy thermometer. Come back and let me know your results.
I tried the recipe last week but I made a major mistake so they were messed up BUT I made them over today and they're perfect and I dipped 14 or 15 nice sized apples with it. I will never use another recipe again. This is the one and I happened to have the same food coloring as you
How much does an amazing looking candy apple like this sale for? This is by far.. the best tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you
You are so welcome! The average plain candy apples starts at $6 per apple. Decorative apples start at $8 and up. I hope this helps you. Due to inflation you might want to go up a dollar or two.
Best video ❤
Thank you so much!💕💕
Thanks for sharing yiur video! How long should the mixture boil and what temp should it reach? Thanks so much!
You're so welcome. Cook your candy until your candy reaches 300 degrees. Make sure you have a candy thermometer for your temperature.
Very beautiful 😍
Thank you so much!
Hi, I am so glad I found this video today! Thank you for sharing your recipe. Do you stir the mixture while waiting for it to reach the temperature of 300? Thank you
I'm glad you found my channel too...lol. Make sure you hit that subscribe, like, and notification bell to keep updated with my latest candy apple tutorials. To answer your question, no you do not want to stir the candy mixture while waiting for the candy to reach 300 degrees.
The only time you stir the candy mixture is at the beginning to mix colors and ingredients before you put it on the stove to cook, and AFTER it reaches 300 degrees when you take it off the stove. I hope I explained this well for you. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA hi , I’m a beginner and I’ve seen so many different ways to clean your apples , which is best ?
If you have 12 or more apples 1 cup of lemon juice. If you have less 1/4 cup lemon juice. Then 2 Tablespoons of baking soda, and 1 Tablespoon of salt. You probably got confused on the lemon juice. It's still lemon juice, baking soda, and salt that will get those apples squeaky clean. I don't know why I'm just now seeing this.💕
Hi :) I loved your review. I just wanted to let you know that colour mill can color a lot bedsides chocolate. In a recent class I learned it colores even buttercream. It binds to fat so it works great for buttercream and a lot of other things as well but the candy like you said. Thank you for all the great advice 🥰
Thank you and yes I use Colour Mill on buttercream as well. I love it for my chocolate apples and Hobby Lobby's gel food colorings for my candied apples.
Yes this is the truth her way love ❤️ it

Thank you will try. I have to make 2 batches for 12 apples.
Use 6-4-1 candy apple recipe. 6 cups of sugar, 4 cups water, and 1 cup light corn syrup.
I had the same problem. But now I am going try again for my daughter birthday

How long does my apples have to sit for me to start making your
Sorry I'm just now seeing this. 12-24 hours.💕
I use to buy candy apples when I lived in NJ but I haven’t been able to find them out here in Oregon. The only ones you can find in Oregon are Caramel apples or Chocolate dipped apples. People always tell me I can make them myself but I’m afraid I’m gonna burn the sugar. Maybe I’ll get me one of those candy thermometers & stop being afraid of burning the sugar. Lol
LOL!!! They will taste much better when you make them. Yes just get you a candy thermometer first.💕
What alternative "brand" of white food coloring would you recommend when you are unable to find Wilton White-White Icing Color?
I've tried Sunnyside Up Bakery from Hobby Lobby. It'll work, but don't use too much of it because you don't want to alter the taste. For some reason, it's starting to get hard getting Wilton's white.
Thank you
You're so welcome.💕
You're so welcome.
Love this video. I have a stupid question bc I got a little lost, you cook it on the stove until it reaches 300 then turn if off , correct. I thought you sat it aside until it reached
Thank you, but no question is an out of range question. If you don't ask, you'll never know. To answer your question, yes cook the candy mixture on the stove until it reaches 300 degrees. Once it reaches 300 degrees, please take it off the stove. I hope this clears up the matter for you. Please let me know.
How long do you wash your apples and thanks so much for your recipe now I think I can make candy apples you are the first person how really give step-by-step on how to make candy apples thanks again and God bless you
I clean my apples then during the 24-48 hour wait period I continue to wipe them down. Here’s some examples here: ruclips.net/p/PLSve20__OpxHn2jrfGgn4H_zj7MSckuWR
How long do your candy apples last before breaking down with the 6-4-1 method?
It depends on how I store them. Candy apples last a good while in the refrigerator, but I wouldn't eat them after 3 days.
Hello- love your content. Where did you purchase the gold bases for the apples at the end

Hi thank u so much for this tutorial. I have a question? Have you ever use the white gel food color from hobby lobby to achive a white candy apple?
You're so welcome. Yes, I've used the bright white in the big bottle and I was not a fan. As much as I love Hobby Lobby's gel food coloring I am not a fan of the big bottle of bright white because it altered the taste of the candy apple. I haven't used the small bottle because of the experience I had with the big bottle 5.85 oz. I will take a picture of the bottle I'm talking about and post it under the "Community" tab tomorrow morning.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA tha k you so much, im learning so much from you, i am a beginner 🙏🏽
You're so welcome. Remember I was once a beginner. I'm just glad I can help.

Can we do it without butter vanilla and use regular red food coloring? Would it come out the same...
You can make your candy apples any flavor you desire. There is no wrong way or right way when it comes to your flavoring. If you use regular red food coloring just make sure it states that it is gel food coloring. Usually they are, but just double check to make sure it states it's gel food coloring.
I've never made candy apples I'm trying to make them for the first time today
Did you clean them and do the 24-48 hour wait period? Do you have a candy thermometer? If you answered no to one of these, don't do it yet respond back to me so I can walk you through this.💕
Yes I cleaned them I just finished them up looking good
Ok, I can't wait for you to finish and tell me your end results...lol.💕
Good morning, what kind of butter vanilla do you use?
Hello. I always use LorAnn's butter vanilla.
Love your apples. Where can I find those gold stands you have?
You can find them in my Amazon bake shop by scrolling down to "TREAT DISPLAY & PACKAGING" tab. I have both gold and silver here - www.amazon.com/shop/diyqueendiva
Do you use chef master gel food coloring from amazon or US cake supplies from amazon?? Your Apples 🍎 are beautiful
Neither. I love Hobby Lobby’s gel food coloring.
I usually get all of my gel food coloring from Hobby Lobby including Chef master's airbrush gel coloring. If Hobby Lobby is out of Chef master's airbrush coloring I'll order it online or see if Michael's got some in stock.
I have a question the stand that you have the candy apple on what is it called cuz I cannot find it on Amazon please and thank you you always do such a great job
They are in my Amazon bake shop.
I have both the gold and silver party favor stands in my Amazon bake shop. Click on the "Treat Display & Packaging" tab to order yours!
Thanks for the video ...we can use Glucose instado of corn syrup..we cant find it in some countries.
Ok, I will probably do a video with glucose to see how it comes out for people who can’t access corn syrup. I want to make sure they come out the same before I give advice on that subject.💕
I work at hobby lobby i think we out of super red for me to try can I use just white gel coloring to the mixture we have white lol instead of Wilton brand thanks for sharing
You’re so welcome. Yes you can use just white for white candy apples. Add the white at the end.
Greetings - Just want to let you know that your recipe is the absolute best. My first try and apples came out beautiful. However, I have a quick question. Do you have any suggestions for making the candy taste a little sweeter ( I used your exact instructions/ingredients. It seems that my candy was not very sweet and taste a tad off. Any insight would be helpful. Many thanks and advance. Greatly appreciate your time and encouragement in the videos.
It sounds like you used too much gel food coloring. You can also try adding your flavor at the end instead of at the beginning. I only add my flavor at the beginning because I'll forget to add it at the end. The next time try adding your flavor at the end and let me know. If it's still like that then you've added too much gel food coloring. What brand did you use for your gel food colors? To be honest it sounds like you used too much gel food coloring and altered the taste of your candy apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I appreciate your response, I used the Hobby Lobby Super Red. I will make another batch this evening and add the Butter Vanilla just before I dip the apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Second Time around was a charm! I didn’t use the butter vanilla, I was scared - LOL. Used the super red sparingly. My apples are pretty and taste Amazing!!!! Literally the best candy apple I have ever tasted!
You're so welcome. What you mean scared?😂 Add it at the end the next time since you felt scared...lol.
Cute 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much.💕
What brand of butter vanilla flavor was that?
LorAnn's. You can get this from Hobby Lobby or Michael's. If you don't feel like going to neither, I have it in my Amazon bake shop as well.
After you boil the wax off your apples, how long should they sit?
24-48 hours. During that time continue to wipe down your apples.
What is the best type of apples to use for making candy apples? How long does the apples need to cool before packaging? Are the apples at room temperature when they are dipped?
Great questions! The best type of apples to use for candy apples are Granny Smith apples. As soon as you're done dipping your last candy apple, go ahead and start packaging. Make sure your house is cool enough to dip before you start. I dip mine while my house remains 65 degrees. 69 degrees or cooler is fine. Especially during these hot summer months.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you so much for the reply! Wish me luck!
You're so welcome! You got this!
I ordered a metallic set but it says it’s water based, not gel. Will this still work for my candy apples?
Yes metallic is water based and you do not need to add white.💕
I did it exactly like you said but for some reason it’s not hardening. Mine is really liquidy any advice on how to make it harder?
It will get hard as soon as you sit them down to rest. Do you have a candy thermometer? Did you let your candy cook to 300 degrees? Your candy should be hard. Come back and let me know so I can help you.
If your Candy hardens can you heat it back to 280 and reuse?
Yes, but you will be able to get all your apples dipped. I cook my candy to 300.
BEAUTIFUL APPLES, What would happen if we used 4 1/2 or 5 cups of water in the 6-4-1 recipe? i am a beginner and have a hard time with my candy getting hard quickly due to me not moving fast i guess.
Please try 6-4-1. I promise you'll love it. Look at me in my videos. I take my time. The majority of the time I'm not organized and be moving apples around...lol. Trust me, this is what you want. It ain't going to get hard on you before you're done. You'll be able to take your time and get 8-24 apples dipped.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you!
@@derykah101 you're welcome.
Please can you tell me where those little base seats are from
Right here - www.amazon.com/shop/diyqueendiva. Just scroll down to Treat Display.💕
Have you ever dipped and left overnight? Did they break down? I need to make 24 by tomorrow i wanted to dip tonight to save time. Ty
I usually dip the same day of the event. However, if I was to dip overnight I would make sure my house is at least 65-70 degrees to prevent the candy apples from breaking down and sit them out on the kitchen counter. The second option is, place them in the refrigerator with the candy apple bags opened. Both options will be good but I would feel more comfortable just placing them in the refrigerator leaving the candy bags opened. Then close them right before delivery. I hope this helps you.
How long does it take the candy Apple 🍎 take to dry with this recipe and can you do Marble colors with this recipe
As soon as you place the apples on parchment paper or a silicone mat you will be able to pick your apples up within 1-2 minutes or sooner. It’s very fast. So about time you finish dipping all of your apples you should be able to start bagging or boxing your apples. I hope this helps you.😊
Good afternoon, so I just tried to make green sour candy apples and the first came out pretty but by the 4th one the candy started turning brown and burnt after?? What did I do wrong queen? Please help
I’ve never heard of this so it must be something you used as far as the sour candy and/or your candy was over cooked. What did you use because I’ve never heard that -your first candy apples were pretty and the rest came out burnt not unless you left the pot of candy on the stove while dipping your candy apples.
❤️
Thank you so much.💕
Do you use any of the red apples to do your candy apples. If you do, do you wash them the same way?
I only use Granny Smith apples. The red apples take longer to clean because they are sweeter and it's hard getting those cleaned due to the sugars releasing from the apples. The red apples breaks down faster too.
Followed the same recipe and my mixture is so runny. What did I do wrong? Can I fix it?
Let your mixture cook to 300 degrees with a candy thermometer and you’ll be good to go. Come back and let me know how everything worked out for you.
Can u use this recipe for can't apple slices as well
Yes, you can use this candy apple recipe for sliced apples.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank u
You’re so welcome.💕
How long does it take to get to 300degrees? I need waiting for 45 mins , it’s moving so slow to get to 300
You must have patience. It's almost done. This is the perfect candy apple recipe. Perfection takes time...lol.
How long do you boil apples?
Only 6 seconds. You don't want no mushy apples. Your apples will remain crisp underneath the candy.
What does candy thermometer go to .
300.
Can you freeze or re- use the candy you have leftover in the pot?
Yes, you can but don’t freeze it. It’s candy so you can leave it out.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Got it, Thank you!
Ok, you're so welcome.
How long must the syrup cooking
Until it reaches 300 degrees Fahrenheit on your candy thermometer, which can take anywhere between 45-60 minutes according to how hot your stove gets. You can’t go by the time. You can only go by the candy thermometer.💕
Hi, I can't seem to find that butter vanilla, any suggestions
It's in Hobby Lobby and Michaels but if they are out of stock, I have it in my Amazon bake shop. www.amazon.com/shop/diyqueendiva I hope this helps you.
@Candy Apple TV ok, however, I think it has a new or updated label so I was a little confused lol. Thanks queen
Yes, they just changed the label on them a month ago. You're so welcome.
is that Wilton white icing clour
Wilton’s white icing is my preference, but if I’m out I’ll use the small bottle of white from Hobby Lobby.
How long does my apples have to sit before I start pair of the apples?
Let them sit 24-48 hours. During this wait period keep wiping your apples down to get the sticky sap and wax off your apples before dipping. I hope this helps you.
Thank you my love appreciate you god blessed you
I tried reading all the comments before asking this question just in case you already answered......have to admit I fell short of 200 comments LoL.... where did you get those gold stands that your apples are on? TIA
😂😂😂 They are in my Amazon bake shop. Go where you see my Facebook and Instagram buttons next to the subscribe button. That's where you'll find my Amazon bake shop.
I been doing your method but I have issues with my airbrush colors. I’m glad you said I don’t use white with the airbrush.
No, don't use white with airbrush colors. What issue are you having Keysha?
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I tried the red airbrush but it wasn’t red enough you could see the apple so I add white and a red gel food coloring and it was red but got sticky really fast. I added candy sugar like you stated in another video but it still was sticky going in my bag.
Also I’m doing the cleaning method but I may still get small bubbles . Could it be because I clean them and be waiting to dip longer then 48 hours?
@@keyshaharding1092 why are you using Airbrush color for red? I thought you were talking about using metallic gold or silver. Get some Hobby Lobby super red with a drop of white and that should fix your color for your apples.
@@keyshaharding1092 you're not wiping the wax off good enough. Make sure you continue to wipe the wax off during the 24-48 hour wait period like you're heavy handed. Don't be gentle wiping your apples down.
Is your candy real thin or does it fall off when you cut the apple
Great question. It's not thick like the other recipes. You can bite right into it with no problem. When you cut the apple the candy continues to stay on the apple. I hope I answered your question. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Is the candy real thin?
Okeisha, it's thin enough to bite into it with no problems. It's thinner than the usual candy apples but not paper thin. Does this helps you? Just make them and try them out. That's the best thing you can do to feel if this recipe is a fit for you and your customers. If you want them paper thin just add more water. I warn you that it will take a very long time to cook.
I miss making Candy apples.
Why did you stop?

Sending my condolences to you and your family. Things will get better for you. I will keep you in my prayers.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you.
I'm new at this and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I used 1/2 oz or Red gel and then I add 1oz of Blue and my mixture is Purple, but some reason the mixture isn't graviting to the apple. I would like to know why?
I did the 6-4-1 method.
First it sounds like you’re using too much gel food coloring. You only need a drip drop. If you’re trying to achieve a specific color use only water like this before making your actual candy here-ruclips.net/user/shortsRL-jiskFvuY?si=yQ4wfQnsX0n4yioM
Second the only time your candy doesn’t gravitate to the apples will be when either you don’t have a candy thermometer and don’t let your candy reach to 300 degrees. Or when you don’t clean your apples like this here-ruclips.net/p/PLSve20__OpxHn2jrfGgn4H_zj7MSckuWR&si=9mEWSMOlqY8E2ope
I hope this helps you.💕💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA I was a bit impatient and I didn't have a candy thermometer. I used a turkey thermometer 🌡 and the candy reached 250° nor did I use your cleaning method. I threw in the towel. I'm a Baker and I wanted to try something different. Thanks for your prompt response.
The apples kinda look like Angry Birds Apples. I put candy eyes on them to dress them up. I'm going to give them to students as a treat. I'm also a Substitute Teacher. Thank you for responding to my question although this video you posted is from a year ago. That's customer service! ❤
I think you're accent is Country, but I like. Sometimes my voice converts to a country accent too.
The blue converted to a Deep Purple and I put the candy in small container and placed them in the freezer for a future use.
I'm going to get you!......LOLLLLLLL! You must clean your apples. This is an absolutely must! You must have a candy thermometer too. If you don't clean your apples or have a candy thermometer you are setting yourself up for failure before you even start. You must let your candy cook to 300 degrees. This is a must or you are setting yourself up for failure again...lol. I know you bakers be trying to make magic happen, but the most important things with candy apples are: Cleaning your apples correctly, having a candy thermometer, and letting your candy reach 300 degrees...LOLLLLL!💕
Hi I just did the apples today and my candy mixture was a little thick and how long does it normally take for the mixture to reach 300 degrees because it seemed like mine took forever.
You added too much gel food coloring. You just need a drop or two. No more than a teaspoon. Get a teaspoon to prevent this from happening again so you don’t over do it on the gel food coloring. It takes time to cook but it will eventually reach 300. You got this! The next time will be a charm.😊
I saw in your comments that your recipe makes the candy thin and not as thick as the traditional candied apples. How do I make my own recipe a little thicker than yours? Less water?
Yes, use only one cup of water if you want them thicker.
How long did it take to hardened after dipped apples
As soon as you place them down on parchment paper or a silicone mat. It's within seconds. You should be able to pick them up with no problem less than 60 seconds. I hope this helps you.
Thank you I'm going to try this
Ok. Let me know how everything turns out.
I did try recipe first time making them ever worked great !! Thanks again
Hey if I only need to dip 3 apples what recipe should I use?
Are they going to be big or small? If big do 3 cups sugar, 2 cups water, and 1 cup corn syrup. You want to make sure you have enough to cover your apples.💕
Thanks 😊
You're so welcome.💕
Do I have to use butter vanilla?
No, that’s just my preference.
@@DIYQUEENDIVA ok thank you
You're so welcome.
Can I please ask a question how do I boil the apples?
Only for 6 seconds to clean the wax off. You don't want mushy apples. Put them in this candy apple cleaning method for six seconds one at a time: ruclips.net/p/PLSve20__OpxHn2jrfGgn4H_zj7MSckuWR
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you so very much. I really appreciate it and God bless you.
You're so welcome.
When do you add your flavors
I add mine at the beginning so I don’t forget. You can also wait until the end. It’s up to you.💕
I would really love to want to make candy apples so I can start selling them
Colanda you got this!💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA thank you so very much and I really appreciate your encouragement word and you do a wonderful blessed, an amazing job
I keep trying but my candy always taste burnt 😢. I tried not adding the coloring and noticed my candy mixture is turning brown but hasn’t reached 300. Maybe I have it to high or low? Not sure I have tried this four times and no luck.
Your candy apple mixture having a tint color is normal, like here: ruclips.net/user/shortsVzBAQfj7jTY Now as far as it tasting burnt is a whole different story. It shouldn't taste burnt especially when adding your flavor. In this case you are cooking your candy too high. Your stove may just get too hot. Put it on 4 and make sure the candy thermometer is not touching the bottom of the pot. Make sure your candy thermometer is midway in the candy to get the correct temperature. I hope this helps you.💕
Can I replace corn syrup with glucose syrup?
I’ve never tried that so I couldn’t give advice on that. There is a powdered alternative called Hi-Sweet.💕
@@DIYQUEENDIVA Thank you for attention
You're so welcome. Here is a video on the Hi-Sweet if you're interested in that. ruclips.net/video/ujJMM5RUF1A/видео.html
thank you for the recipe. i tried a candy apple recipe at first they came out a hot mess bubbles and all and sticky, but i put them in the bag and placed in the fridge and they came out crunchy but ugly lol
😂😂😂Make sure you clean them good to avoid bubbles.
What am I doing wrong when my candy apples are sticky or get sticky after a hour of dipping and all the candy slowly runs off.
My first question I need to ask you, where are you placing your candy apples after you are done dipping and bagging them up? Are you leaving them on the kitchen counter? If so, is your house cool enough for the candy apples to sit out on the counter. Your house needs to be at least 65 or cooler if you're going to let them sit out on the counter. If your candy is slowly running off the apples, are you letting your candy cook to 300 degrees? When I first started making candy apples my candy would run down the apples because I didn't have a candy thermometer. My candy wasn't reaching 300 degrees. The last question, do you live in a hot state like FL where the humidity is high? If your house is humid this could cause that issue. I would suggest to purchase a dehumidifier to pull that humidity out of your kitchen and keep your AC on. I hope this helps you.
I place the apple on parchment paper. When I am done dipping the last apple I start Packing them up. How cool should the temperature in the house should. I keep it about 65-70' in my house is that to warm.
65 or cooler will be fine. I think it's the humidity in your house. I left a candy apple out overnight on the counter at 73 degrees as an experiment in a previous video and the candy maintained on the apple but the apple was a little sticky. ruclips.net/video/n8k3JQZ2MFw/видео.html In your case you probably need to just place them in the refrigerator instead of keeping them on the counter.
Thank you for replying I am going to keep trying till I get it right, thank you so much for your advice.
You're so welcome. You got this!
I think adding too much color and flavor thickens the recipe also. As to why some ppl mixture thicken quick
Yes adding too much flavor and gel food coloring can thicken candy apples fast.
