I have a Ragdoll, too. His brother just passed 😢, but he was 17 1/2, and still was pretty, and loved to love...he definitely was hurting his last few days, but he still took time to groom his bro. He isn't the brightest bulb, and he will fight the bath (in fact, for a not very bright cat, he's quite resourceful.) I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this, as he is incredibly vocal, and I'm pretty sure he's missing his brother...but I guess it's good to know he's not screaming in pain. @@lastfirst5863 true, most cats don't like anyone messing with their back and furiously hate the blower but let's be honest: the cat is too fat to care or put any real resistance...
That was one intelligent and trusting cat. The cat knew she was being helped, and sucked up the minor irritation of the work, for the long term payoff.
That purr! Such a good girl. I had a good boy once who let 10 vet students perform a full eye exam each, in a row without any complaint. But I can't imagine him being THIS good with a groomer.
My boy (who turns 15 today 🎂) got a large piece of hair stuck in his third eyelid. The vet had to practically waterboard him with the eye flush before it came loose, and he purred the whole time 😂
My cat, who is mostly white, found a way to open the fireplace door and decided to change into a black cat. The amount of soot and charcoal that came off her was insane. I bathed her three times and it still took weeks for all the black to come off.
when I was around 2 years old, I did the same and to top it off, I proceeded to eat some of the charcoal. I'm told bathing me took awhile as well as cleaning my mouth out. perhaps I'm part cat 🤣
My black and white cat Hermione did the same. We were trying to capture her to take her to the vet, and she escaped into the fireplace. We hadn't used it in ages, so it wasn't hot at all, but it was still filled with ash. She was so dirty, she made little ashy paw prints on the exam table at the vet. Much to her displeasure, they offered to bathe her and we accepted. They did a pretty good job cleaning her up! XD
I had a pure white cat growing up named Spot. He got his name because he would sleep under my parents' cars and come out with black spots on his back 😂
@@niece7959 lol, yeah. She eat some of it too and then threw up black on the rug. It actually happened twice, cause I thought is was a fluke that she could open it the first time but she legitimately knows how. I had to board the opening up behind the glass.
Just by how itchy she was at the start told a lot. That the matteing was getting really itchy tugging on the rest of the coat and skin being dry just doubling the itchy. So combing to get the mattes out doubled as scratching those dry skin itching. Had a cat that would start drooling when getting brushed out during the spring/summer when her undercoat was coming out. She hated baths but if you even had a brush in hand and she saw it. Cue the thundering rumbles of purring, kneading the floor, full breath yowling meows and throwing her body against your leg for brush time. During brush time, air licking and biting, twisting and hissing at the air while drooling and purring so hard she was vibrating. Head, cheeks, neck, throat, sides, back, belly, tail then legs in that order every time before she'd flip over on the bed or a box and just do the "boneless cat" sort of sleep for a few hours.
I have a cat that looks almost exactly the same, but smaller, and she is the vet's favourite 🤭 she's not happy to be out of the house, but never makes a sound during vaccinations. Even the microchip that is not that tiny - she's just ignored it. No meow, no scare, just looking around like that didn't happen.
What a sweet relaxed baby. Gave our boys their first bath this past week to help with their shedding. They actually did a lot better than I thought. Generally accepting, if squirmy and occasionally trying to climb bodies to get out, but no real panicking or fighting the bath. I wish we had a pet safe hairdryer though. Our poor medium coated lad was damp for hours even after a vigorous towel dry, finally tucked him up in a little heated box which made him quite happy (and stopped his poor shivers), after his warm nap he finally groomed himself out and got his coat the rest of the way dry.
Aww what a silly sweetheart. Her little purrs were so so adorable Also if I remember cat colorations she has a Black Smoke coat, which is why it’s grey/silver underneath
I cannot believe how calm this beautiful kitty was! My Sir Jasper would have torn you to shreds… he,s fine with water, loves it actually, but turn the blow dryer on and he turns into a demonically possessed, Tasmanian Devil!!
My little Jester would leave us all bloodied with his lessons about what happens to anyone who displeases their ruler. Get an orange cat, they said. It'll be fun, they said. Sweet and derpy, made for snuggles, they said. Lies.
I’m glad my cat Buddy is able to keep himself pretty cause he HATES water if I took him into the bath it would look like that scene in Scarface in the bathroom.
So would my cats Silvia and Autumne, both of those two cats, dislike the noise of that too. That and the vacuum cleaner noises that the vacuum makes when being used.
My cat is like this too; she’s never once scratched, bitten, swiped, hissed, or growled at me. She won’t even play bite me. Super docile and kind. My favorite kind of cat!
My cat Oliver was like that too, with me. However, if anyone tried to mess with him when he was on my lap or shoulder, it was a different story. He would smack anyone who tried (no claws though. He was extremely good about not scratching people).
I had a red tabby maine coon girl who was like this too ❤️ so sweet, soft and never ever lashed out. She passed away from what was probably cancer a few years ago. Now I have a calico who is also very loving but if there is something she does not like, she becomes very spicy 😆😅 her vet say she is not surprised, calicos and tortise have a reputation for being sassy 😌
My darling Sami is the same - she's a rescue, amd she has never once scratched or bitten me...even when she has to get put on the cat carrier (which she hates with a vengeance), she doesn't turn on me. I sometimes wish she would, as she goes in to a bit of a freeze response at the vet. But i guess thats just her temperament- She's such a big lovebug and seeks affection to regulate her stress.
Her coat is so interesting. From a far looks mostly dark but when brushed, light coloured hair come off... Such a good kitty... She probably feel so light after all that...
I feel like she loves brushing so much that she pays attention and knows when it was time to move to a new area. It almost looked like she was thinking about switching sides, right as you mentioned it, and then she gave you her belly at the right times too.
Smartest kitty ever cooperating, purring, and thinking of all the hairballs she won't be having. So glad the himalayan cat we had when I was a kid liked being brushed and combed. We had a soft bristle brush for her face and whiskers, and a slicker brush and comb for the rest of her, she loved it.
My cat has a love/hate relationship with being brushed… He enjoys it and purrs away like a little engine _right_ up until he turns around and tries to shred me 🤷🏻♀️😆
It could be possible that he purrs to better tolerate the stress of being brushed. It's hard to sometimes identify if cats purr from stress or happiness.
It's very possible he's getting overstimulated! For cats that are enjoying themselves and then suddenly "turn," I describe it like being tickled. It's not a bad sensation but at a certain point you get overwhelmed. I would recommend short brushing sessions or if you brush while they're in your lap [I do this with my overstimulated cat, to get him while he's relaxed], break up the brushing with 1-2 minute short breaks. Watch for his tail starting to flick/thrash, and for when the skin on his back jumps. Positive association with treats has also helped my cat a lot too!
Good thing to know is that cats also pur to soothe themselves in a more stressful situation. The tail whacking tells me she is not to happy. But she is such a sweet and patient kitty!
My black cat whacked his tail nonstop, and he was just as loving. He would do it even when I was giving him his fav chin scratches and purring his heart out. It doesn’t always mean they’re mad 🤷🏼♀️
A lot of cats tail whack when they are excited too, in my experience. My cat loves butt pats and demands them but will whack his tail around while purring and raising his butt up for more
My old Ragdoll gentleman Finch (RIP!) used to LOVE being not only blown dry with the hairdryer but also being vacuumed with the crevice extension. Funny boy. The love of my life and I miss him every day. (Edit: randomly to Ragdoll)
Wow she’s so calm. I’ve had many cats in my life, none were ever that calm. One of my cats was a Maine Coon and he was the calmest, but he still complained loudly. My current cat SCREAMS when I give her a bath. I’m so glad my cat is a strictly indoor cat otherwise I would have to bathe her more. The first time I put her in a tub my neighbor came over to find out if I had hurt myself. She said she heard a woman screaming. Lol
Is she long haired? My cat loves going outside (safe area, also in the UK so not really any predators), and I've literally never had to bathe him, he doesn't smell like anything. We found him as a stray so I'm not totally sure how old he has but we've had him for at least 5 or 6 years now
That de-shedding comb has been an absolute game-changer for my two (short-hair and wildly shedding) cats and for friends. Our Vet actually said, earlier this year, that it's a big "shedding" year, and I could see it our new, tiny apartment. It's wonderful for my short-hairs. Thank you so, so much.
Shhhhhhh. We never say the Q word at the hospital, or in the ambulance bays, or at the fire stations. I’m sure you’ve cursed the medical/EMS professionals in your area with a shift full of nutball antics and crazy disasters.
Same with retail. I had a coworker leaving for the day say, "I hope it stays quite." She was smirking as she left. Sure enough all heck broke loose. I hope she didn't jinx herself too much.
I had a manx cat with spina bifida who loved to be brushed, because when she got old she could no longer do her grooming herself. Our daily brushing sessions were such a wonderful memory in her sunset of life. This reminds me of her so much. She would happily let me do anything so long as a slicker brush was involved! I miss my old lady! Thanks Vanessa! 💛💛💛💛
I am so sorry for your loss of your precious pet. I am glad that it sounds like you have come to a point where the grief of your loss has been out shadowed by the memories of the joyful times you shared! Hold all those beautiful memories close to your heart!!
I have two ragdolls, and I got the equigroomer for my German Shepherd. Today my rags were near me while I was using it on the shepherd, and I jokingly used it on one of them. THE AMOUNT of hair I got off one was incredible, and she was purring the entire time. I had used the cat comb on her yesterday. I brush them both almost daily, and I have never seen this much hair come off them. And they both loved it. (I also have two short haired cats, but they're not nearly as needy about brushing as the rags.)
I got the equigroomer because of Vanessa and it is truly incredible on my basset hound/blue heeler mix. He sheds A LOT, and the equigroomer is *chef’s kiss.* My next door neighbor got one after I raved about it and she loves it for both her cats and her long-haired dachshund/terrier mix.
Thank you for moving the mic so we could hear her purr. She is a sweet girl! I don't think she wants you to stop brushing and/or grooming her, she really enjoys it.
Omg what a total cutie. I have never seen a cat being so okay with being groomed, bathed AND blowdryed. Purring and all that, just how is this possilble.. Babygirl ❤❤❤❤
She reminds me of a cat I used to have many years ago. He was a black domestic shorthair. I didn't bathe him regularly, but I did brush him. Not because he badly needed it, but he did used to get dead fur trapped in there that only gave him furballs, and he loved it being brushed out. He used to lie on his side and purr as I combed him (I used a nit comb intended for humans), and he always knew to the exact stroke when I was done with one side and like telepathy would roll onto the other side. And then again, on the last stroke of the comb would roll onto his back and I'd do his belly, then he'd loaf and I'd do his back and tail. The base of his tail was the only bit he ever complained about. But it was altogether a great bonding experience. He was so silky smooth by the end and he'd give me that sleepy eyed look and we'd have a little cuddle, and then he'd usually go to the greenhouse to wash and sunbathe on the potting bench. 😅
Cats do sometimes purr when distresses as well. It helps them self soothe. She's letting you know she's both nervous and the brushing/combing she's enjoying.
This groom was soooooooooo satisfying. Seeing all that hair coming out and the unexpected purring ASMR was an added gift. Fully enjoying her spa day, purring away was absolutely delightful. This video goes into my "Happiness" playlist!
Dearest Vanessa, we all know you work miracles with cats and dogs, but I want you know these past 2 weeks your videos have helped through my grief. My 15 year old corgi crossed the rainbow bridge 2 days before Father’s Day which is also a super tough holiday for me since my dad passed away in April 2021. Your channel and community had made me smile when all I have been doing is crying. So THANK YOU❤
Wow, that purring session was so comforting ! If she has been doing that all the while, she must have really liked being with you ❤ Urgh I missed hearing cat’s purr 🥺
I love watching the cat grooming. I used to bathe my kitty. Not her fave activity but she loved the attention of drying and gentle combing and brushing after.
she's so lovely 😭💕 purring is also a sign of anxiety but considering her overall body language i think it was mostly out of enjoyment 😊 her pose at the end with her paws under her chest indicates trust and relaxation. her summer days will be so much more tolerable with all that extra fur gone!

XD
Too funny.
At the end the cat was like "Don't shove me there, I'm finally clean and it smells like piss in here!"
You can't be certain that Vanessa didn't wash out the carrier.
Vanessa is very professional. I believe she would have cleaned it out.
Sometimes cats purr as a self-soothing behaviour.
I was also wondering if the carrier had been cleaned..
The mixed messages: I’m gonna whip my tail so you know I don’t like brushing, but I’m gonna purr loudly because it feels so gooooood.
Some cats purr when they're stressed to self-sooth.
My cats would give a tail whip or a quick non-bite mouthing to let me know, 'That spot is getting sore, move on."
My cats whip their tails when angry but also when happy
Strikes me as very much a "I appreciate the grooming but you're still a stranger and I'm nervous - keep it up. carefully." display.
Cats also tail whip when overstimulated. I imagine brushing does just that, no matter how much they enjoy it
Vanessa's tentative "hello?" whenever there's a cat in a crate always makes me smile IDK why
The moment she came out of her carrier with her tail sticking up like that, you could just tell how friendly a kitty she is! What a sweetie! 😽
2 cats in 2 days..
you’re spoiling us 😻
Right?! Love the cat content.❤
@@toryroseharris6153me too! So cute.
This is as good as a Christmas as far as I'm concerned 🐈🐈⬛🐇
I'm always so moved by your concern for the amount of stress cased by the various actions of grooming.
Aww what a silly sweetheart. Her little purrs were so so adorable
Also if I remember cat colorations she has a Black Smoke coat, which is why it’s grey/silver underneath
Lies.
@@AllTheHappySquirrels 😂😂😂😂
I’m glad my cat Buddy is able to keep himself pretty cause he HATES water if I took him into the bath it would look like that scene in Scarface in the bathroom.
My cat Asher nailed my vet. We had to give him some sedatives so he could get his shots and annual checkup.
@@parkerbrown-nesbit1747When on his favourite hooman it's him time! No one else!
The purrs, the shed, the absolute angel. AAAAA++++++++++++++
Her coat is so interesting.
From a far looks mostly dark but when brushed, light coloured hair come off...
Such a good kitty... She probably feel so light after all that...
I was confused by the thumbnail of a black cat and a white pile of fur next to it. Her two-tone coat is wild! 😍
Vanessa liked this cat so much that she didn't even fat shame her.
aww what a sweet cat, such a laid back personality and she loved that brushing!!
oh, all that brushing was so SATISFYING to watch! 🤩
Thank you for sharing that purring angel, it was so soothing xx
What a sweet kitty. Love the purring mic too ❤
That purr is the most relaxing sound. you should put it on a loop and make a little recording of it to sell as a sleep aid. What a good girl!
there are purring loops on youtube 😄
My cat has a love/hate relationship with being brushed… He enjoys it and purrs away like a little engine _right_ up until he turns around and tries to shred me 🤷🏻♀️😆
Overstimulated maybe. Billispeaks had a great video on it
It could be possible that he purrs to better tolerate the stress of being brushed. It's hard to sometimes identify if cats purr from stress or happiness.
This my cat too! I always have my guard up just in case
Sounds like over stimulation.
Such a calm angel of a cat. You did a fantastic job as usual. I enjoy sering you get these easier groomings too.
what an actual angel! that looked like it felt soooo good, and the purring made me so happy
My cat loves butt pats and demands them but will whack his tail around while purring and raising his butt up for more
진실
Yeah, that is good thing for every cat owner to know. Both stress or pain can be reasons why a cat purrs.
I was hoping someone would mention this. Thank you!
I like when she opens the cage, and the gigantic beast just keeps coming out like some kind of dark souls boss.
Only to be a total sweetheart, in this case!
What a beautiful sweetheart ❤ I love that she purred the whole time and didn’t want to leave
I adore this cat. Listening to her purr erased the stress of my 12 hour shift. Thank you and Mutsey.
My old Ragdoll gentleman Finch (RIP!) used to LOVE being not only blown dry with the hairdryer but also being vacuumed with the crevice extension. Funny boy. The love of my life and I miss him every day. (Edit: randomly to Ragdoll)
I feel you, I miss my big fluffy Ginger boy's quirks every day!
Lol
Mine sounds like a young toddler screaming bloody murder. How little lungs manage something so loud I'll never know
Is she long haired? My cat loves going outside (safe area, also in the UK so not really any predators), and I've literally never had to bathe him, he doesn't smell like anything. We found him as a stray so I'm not totally sure how old he has but we've had him for at least 5 or 6 years now
It's lovely of your neighbour to check on you though! 😊
I loved to hear her purring... So soothing❤
I was wondering what that rumbling sound I heard outside was…
It was Mutsy purring!!! 🤣😂
Awesome job!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Also, Happy Canada Day!!! 🇨🇦
I'm so glad to hear this. My cats are shedding like crazy and I couldn't figure out why! Thank you for posting this!
As in a general thing across spieces? Did s/he say why that is? Because that is intriguing!
@@samma6652Same. Mine is shedding SO MUCH.
What a LOVELY kitty! And what a satisfying groom! Seeing all that shedding coming loose was soooo good!
She really need that groom very much her purr was more than a thank you! You did a great job here:)
Saying you've been blessed with good cats is the equivalent of saying it's been a quiet day at a hospital 😂
Shhhhhhh. We never say the Q word at the hospital, or in the ambulance bays, or at the fire stations. I’m sure you’ve cursed the medical/EMS professionals in your area with a shift full of nutball antics and crazy disasters.
Mayo's owner calling an hour later saying he needs a bath 😂
Same with retail. I had a coworker leaving for the day say, "I hope it stays quite." She was smirking as she left. Sure enough all heck broke loose. I hope she didn't jinx herself too much.
YES I was like… OPE you just jinxed yourself 🤣
Don't say Sl*w in a restaurant 😭😭😭😭😭
I had a manx too! He loved being brushed as well! Very friendly cats
My mom also brushes her cat every morning. She get really upset if she forgets
What an amazing cat! Thanku as always for what you do. I thoroughly enjoy watching you! 💯👋🏾🫣🤢
Really enjoying this kind of longer form/pov style vid!
The purring made me giggle. It must’ve felt like the best spa day ever, you got all the right spots. What a sweet girl.
Thank you so much for the purring microphone. so cute!!
Omg so adorable! Such a sweet lovely baby! The mic for purring was genius!
Thank you for moving the mic so we could hear her purr. She is a sweet girl! I don't think she wants you to stop brushing and/or grooming her, she really enjoys it.
Not a single thought behind those green eyes
She actually has her masters in Felineology.
what's between those ears?
is it a brain?
no, just floof.

Sure she does, she's just very calm and extremely well behaved.
She's a regular YT commenter!
This grooming mad me smile through the whole thing!! What a precious cat 🐈⬛!! I loved hearing the purring!!
Wow, that grooming transformation is simply purrfect! 🐾✨
I love when big fat cats wear the happy hoodie. Their tiny heads in proportion to their bodies is always hilarious
She's not all that fat, I suspect. Just floofy.
She is not fat
Omg what a total cutie. I have never seen a cat being so okay with being groomed, bathed AND blowdryed. Purring and all that, just how is this possilble.. Babygirl ❤❤❤❤
I loved that she was loafing during the brushing time ❤❤❤❤
What an adorable cat! She was so good and her purring was amazing 😊
I really appreciate you passing the mic to the cat so we can hear the purs♥
Such a sweetie. Thanks for the purr mic!
So THANK YOU❤
I’m so sorry to hear you’re dealing with so much grief. Hang in there. ❤

I loved hearing Mutzi purr. Sweet kitty indeed! I know that you really helped her itchy skin!
Wow, that purring session was so comforting ! If she has been doing that all the while, she must have really liked being with you ❤
Urgh I missed hearing cat’s purr 🥺
I love watching the cat grooming. I used to bathe my kitty. Not her fave activity but she loved the attention of drying and gentle combing and brushing after.
this is so interesting because i had to bathe my cat everyday for 4 months and the drying and brushing was his least favorite part lol

Enjoyed this video the first time with audio. A day later watched it without sound and enjoyed the ASMR. Thanks!
Thank you for the extra purrs in my day, today. I really needed that!
she's so lovely 😭💕 purring is also a sign of anxiety but considering her overall body language i think it was mostly out of enjoyment 😊 her pose at the end with her paws under her chest indicates trust and relaxation. her summer days will be so much more tolerable with all that extra fur gone!
Her face looks a little resigned but seriously, not too upset.
My GOODNESS!! It is UNHEARD OF!’ I can’t believe how well behave that cat 🐈⬛ is.
