Transitioning From Summer To Vintage Fall Decorating

- It's time to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall! Let's do some summer activities at the orchard, visit the beach, and then transition into some vintage Halloween home decor! Plus I'm giving an update on my kittens and their mom, Blossom. Let me know in the comments what you think of my fall decorating and what type of content you would like to see in the next few months of autumn!

Love the update on you and the kitties. I am newly retired (teacher )and while I have a great family I was experiencing sadness because I didn’t feel needed. I learned that I have to like myself and do things for myself. Now, I help my daughter with her dog and my other daughter moved in along with her husband and 4 year old son. My daughter ( with the family) is going to graduate school, so my husband and I are helping. It was an adjustment but I too am feeling so much happier. Thank you for being you
Such a coincidence I’m watching this video about Blossom and your kitties. I just trapped 5 cats bright and early this morning - they will get sterilized tomorrow morning. Thank you beautiful human for being a responsible part of the community, and not the problem. Some fearls just cannot be domesticated. You did the right thing letting her free roam - she’ll live a longer, healthy life. 🧡🐈🍁
Seeing those kittens brightened up my whole day! I have a soft spot for black cats and Siamese, and they are absolutely thriving with the love and attention they get from you. And I totally agree that if you adopt kittens, you should get two. It helps to socialize them 😊

I have a very energetic smart cat. Never had a cat like my current one and I've had cats since childhood. He opened my front door and attic door. We got child locks for the doors. His new worst trick a few days ago he turned on our gas stove. Nothing fancy about our stove he just used the right amount of pressure and twist on the knob leaping off the stove/counter area. Thank goodness we were home and luckily I wasn't fully asleep as it was like at 4 am. Anyway at this point I have to keep most of my older things boxed for another time (when he gets much older) or display them in a glass cabinet. I love the darn cat he is family. I also love my vintage things. Its a struggle but I do realize I need to downsize a few of the non favorite vintage. Anyway anything that I love and adore as far as fragile vintage goes in glass and out of reach of the cat. I have learned to look at everything from his perspective. lol

I love your shelf! I personally love cozy content with decorating, organizing, cleening, crafting, decluttering.. etc just everyday stuff.
And I have a confession: I always pause your videos to get little glimpses of the rooms 😅 I would love to see how you placed your furniture for example. No need for it to be perfect or "finished" at all ❤ I loved your second video in the new house where you talked about the "messy in-between stages" - thats exactly what I would love to see ❤

Fun episode. So happy you are feeling better. I was so excited when you went through your box of books. In 1997, I came across an unusual copy of Nancy Drew... it had three stories in one book. I passed it up, and when I went back for it, it was gone. I have been searching for it ever since, except I could never find any trace or reference to it. No one had ever heard of it. But, I saw it in your box! I'm not crazy... it really exists! Thank you, Emily!!

Emily so glad to see you doing a little decorating. You are right about it being a sign of progress. I went through a tumultuous divorce 15 years ago. I had to move out of the house that I owned and loved to decorate because I couldn't afford it on my own. I remember having such depression in the first few months in the new apartment that I had a hard time even wanting to mop the kitchen floor. I slowly started decorating the apartment, first my son's room so he had a fun place to be. It started to all come together and the apartment helped me heal. I think your Fall-o-ween shelf looks so cute and I'm happy you are feeling better. I am kinda jonesing for you to do some upcycle craft videos after you mentioned them....especially if them are Halloween/Fall related! Summer can suck it.

Hi Emily! I used to have twin orange tabbies as they were kittens. They do get into mischief and that’s their way. Ours grew up and one ran away and the other one loved staying put. She was my baby (also her name). She was so mellow and loved me. I’m allergic to cats but lived with them for 7 yrs. I had to go on an inhaler while I had them. Glad you’re getting use to your kittens. Please take care and can’t wait for more videos! Your Michigan neighbor!🥰👍💜

I'm so glad you're feeling better! Kitties help. Vera and Rosie are adorable. Our Holly, that we took in, was a stray. A woman that used to live in our apartment complex, used to take the srays to get get fixed. So, Holly has her ear clipped, too. She's a handful. We can't leave any paper out, or she'll shred it to bits. When you put out the paper Halloween decorations, I thought, that might not be a good idea. But, if they don't care about how fun paper is, you'll be fine.😂
HAHAHAHA they rip up tissues!!! I have tissue bits everywhere 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 so gotta watch out for that haha!
I love those kitties so much. thank you for sharing. All our cats are indoor/outdoor (except for our foster kitten) and two are strictly outdoor (don't @ me) but they have access to shelter in extreme weather and have fresh water & food everyday. They THRIVE outside. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and I love to see the Halloween decorations coming out! I'm also tying to decide what to keep stored away this year with a kitten running around but she's worth so I don't mind too much.
Yesss! I’ve never had an outdoor only cat but I’m not going to make her life miserable by keeping her inside. Just give her food and shelter and they’re happy! Thanks for sharing ☺️

I lost my 20 yr old kitty June 1st and have been so sad until I received a call from a friend looking for a home for a tiny kitten. She was only approximately 4 weeks old.. I've had her two weeks now and she makes me so happy. She's black and I've named her Salem. I do need to get a friend for her though. 🙂

When I had kittens they broke everything they were so naughty! A lot of my vintage! 😢I had to find good homes for them cuz I couldn't take anymore heartache lol

Cats are very interesting critters. I have seen some weave their way all around glass items and never touch a thing and then watched others purposely bat the objects to the floor. Hello to Grandma and Grandpa! Your bookcase looks happy, as do you!

Love the video! I feel like so many people are team summer or fall, I am both too! I can still decorate for fall, bake pumpkin muffins AND fully enjoy every last second of summer. Also the kittens are so cute, and I love the names from White Christmas!

Emily, what do you use to shine your yellow island counter? Is it a vintage surface?
I just use regular all purpose cleaner. I got the island at a thrift store! I think they painted it with a glossy paint and that’s why it’s shiny ☺️
How I long for fall In the Netherlands we are at the start of a heatwave that will last a week can you believe it. I long for rain and autumn

I have actually had many kittens that settled down after a year and didn't deliberately tear up things. I'm not sure about these last two we have. I hope we'll be able to keep the Christmas tree up this year. 😔 Last year was a bummer of a holiday.
