On the streets of Tripoli, Libya, I met a wonderful lady named Hadia who has a really inspiring story to share.
She's an entrepreneur, an artist, a teacher, a problem solver (among many others) -- but the most encouraging thing about her story is how she is able to make everyone around her stay positive as Libya has been undergoing a tough state of war and instability.
I was invited to her house/workshop today on the outskirts of Tripoli, where the majority of this video was shot. It has been great getting a glimpse of her life and seeing how she is making an impact on Libyan society.

As a Libyan , I wish we would have many of woman like Hadia , she is so inspiring , she spreads positivity though her art and tribute . I never met her in person but i am a ware of the project she works on along with the old city renovation committee .its a nice gesture to interview her .

I'm creating a homeschool curriculum for my kids about North Africa and it seems like, when it comes to Libya, it's been hard to dig through the history of wars and political drama and still find happy stories about people thriving and bringing joy to Libya. Tripoli is 80% dominated by men?!! Actually libyan women go around the streets of the city all time😀.. it's something very ordinary even on war. And art has nothing to do with covering hair... Many women in Libya wear the hijab and they are creative artists. However, respect to Haida and #thanks #Drew for all your beautiful videos about our country.. you should come back when war ends inshAllah to visit other amazing cities🇱🇾

I watched the first two videos you posted on Libya and I wished you really met some of the "intellectuals" who still live here in Tripoli. That's until i saw this one, i'm glad you met Hadia and no one more better inspiring. (Btw, her name is Hadia not Haida!). And i admire how you've found this gem in a short stay, i've lived in Tripoli almost my whole life and only met this wonderful lady this year.

Libya is an astonishing country it’s location itself is priceless , it’s Mediterranean climate is absolutely fantastic it has both land , sand , coasts, mountains waterfalls you name it the scenery is amazing, friendly , respectful people. Why not , English is the second language in Libya after Arabic. Not surprisingly in Libya 🇱🇾 they speak English fluently , and some speaks Italian very well beside Arabic and English.

That region is not safe at all . Libya is not a safe place to visit, civil war is going on since 2011. I firmly believe you know that . Libyans are skipping their own country because it’s simply not a safe place to live in .

My father worked in Libya for years and made a lot of money there. What's happening in Libya right now, the people of Libya brought it to themselves - they didn't have to remove Qaddafi. I was born in Libya and lived there for a few years but I am not Libyan but it truly breaks my heart to see Libya like this. I can't thank you enough Drew to show us Libya. God Bless Libya
