    I visited the cities of eastern Libya, which are called Cyrenaica. It was amazing and beautiful. It has a stunning nature and the people are very kind. It is somewhat oppressed in terms of tourism and media. I saw the shrine of Omar Al-Mukhtar and the beauty of the cities there.

      Actually. Cyrenaica is more beautiful than Tripoli, especially the mountain and the green, specifically the ancient city of Cyrene and the rural city of Marj. Fezzan is also wonderful, especially the volcanic mountain, Waw al-Namous. There you feel that you are not on planet Earth, you feel that you are on Mars, and you can watch that on the Internet.
      But in terms of urban development, Tripoli, the capital, is more beautiful.
      Benghazi in Cyrenaica is also excellent in terms of urban development.

    As a 15 year old Libyan living in the UK, as my parents moved here for work in the 90s, I frequently visit Libya every year for 2 months in the summer, and really, its a safe place. I'm also into aviation a lot and airlines in Libya are not affected by the civil war in terms of safety. They are affected financially, like all other sectors in Libya, and the main instigator of destruction to Libyan based airlines was the battle of Tripoli airport in 2014, before then aviation was great in Libya, however the airport hasn't been operable since then, and destroyed many aircraft in the process. I heard that the airport is being rebuilt now, and will likely reopen in the next year or 2 if things go to plan. Afriqiya in particular is not a dangerous airline, and the crash that occurred on the Johannesburg-Tripoli flight was due to fatigue, bad conditions and pilot error. It was also in 2010, before the war, so it's not related to the war in any way. There have also been no emergencies involving Libyan aircraft since 2010. So don't be worried when flying with a Libyan airline.

    • @Inevitably_Gaming
      @Inevitably_Gaming Год назад +9

      Also, personally I fly with Libyan Airlines, Libyan Wings, and Berniq Airways for the best experience. What you got there with Afriqiyah has been something I've never seen as a passenger flying that route regularly. Berniq Airways however is a brand new, and growing airline based in Benghazi. They seem to have pretty nice planes, much better condition than the dated Libyan Wings, Libyan Airlines, and Afriqiyah products. Crown airlines is also a brand new airline, with 2 in its fleet, aiming to provide premium experiences for passengers, and it flies the same route as well.

    I'm an American from Oklahoma, and I lived in Tripoli for 11 years before the Arab Spring. I had to leave due to the security situation, and I miss the country and its wonderful people every single day! I really want to return, but my friends there are telling me to wait a little longer. I flew in and out of Tripoli international mostly on BA and Lufthansa, and occasionally on Air Malta when I had to go to our office there. I flew Lib Air twice, and one of those times was on a super-old 747 from Casablanca to Tripoli. A fight broke out on that flight also, and it wasn't pretty. There wasn't enough crew to control all of the passengers and got dangerous. The crew finally wrestled the trouble-makers to the ground (with the help of the first officer) and the flight was great other than that one issue. Thanks for the great video, and Hello Libya!

    I like sturdy carry-on luggage, but they weigh too much. If the maximum allowed weight of a carry-on on an airline is 8kg for example, but the carry-on when empty weighs 4 or 5 kg, you can't put very much in it.

    Libyan here, welcome to our country. Although I am a little embarrassed by what happened on the plane, government-owned airlines like afriqiyah and Libyan airlines have been struggling these days in Libya, and were overtaken by private airlines. I am happy to see more people from the western world visiting my country. Libya is not as dangerous as most people think, at least currently the situation is stable. I hope you enjoy your time here.
