Heya Josh, Have you any intentions of doing the 'paper' airline Air Sainai flight between Cairo and Tel Aviv? One of the hardest airlines to get a trip on. Super secretive.
Out of curiosity, how many tail strikes do you think it would take to cause the damage shown in those pictures? I'm no expert, but it sure looks like a lot more than one to me.
Fact is Air Peace is extremely unsafe. That’s what many of their pilots claim and there are many reports online how the airline tries to hide incidents and accidents. If you have a death wish, go ahead and fly them :)
Former flight attendant here (Qantas). There are so many safety hazards in this video and it’s the complete opposite of how we were trained & how flight crew should be trained & behaving. Such a lack of cabin presence! And those hours are illegal & super dangerous. Thank you for another honest review!
Nigeria is 12th largest producer of petroleum in the world, rich in natural gas, coal, gold, tin, iron ore etc but Western countries loot the wealth of these African nations to keep them poor. Because of that, they cannot afford to spend millions like Qantas to train flight crew!!!! Step out of your bubble and learn how the REAL WORLD works!
What you recommend being a flight attendant ? Or are you an ex flight attendant for a reason 😬😅 just starting to look at career options and feel like it looks like a bit of fun of paper but once actually doing it feel like it could turn out to be a bit crap haha.. probably with air nz if anyone 😁
A320 family pilot here (for a great European airline). I was blown away when I flew a 737 classic with Air Zimbabwe from Harare to Victoria Falls….they operated it single pilot!! I’m not kidding. This was 10 years ago, and had I been flying then, I would have got off. Looking back on it, it was madness. Their maintenance teams were on strike at the time and there was almost no fuel in the country. All the petrol stations had cars parked for days in queues just waiting. Anyway, please do one on Air Zimbabwe! Love your vids. They really make me realise how good my airline is!
You have to be kidding, that is pure madness. Oooops looks like i just parroted what you said. Tha aviation authorities lack big time in some countries and it is not only Africa.
Those crew working hours are highly illegal - I did a calculation based on the data available of the flight from March 6 that you took. The crew was at the gate/ground for 5 hours + 5,5 hour flight time - landed at 14:22, departed at 16:52, equals to another 2,5 hours on the ground in Johannesburg, another 5,5 hours flying back to Lagos. That makes 18,5 HOURS IN TOTAL! This is madness and should be reported to the Nigerian Aviation Authorities! Edit: In fact the plane was never allowed to take off with that delay unless a new set of crew had been called to operate. SHOCKING!
From SOP ( Standard Operating Procedures) Working period can not exceed 14hrs, as long haul flights like this one will require the crew to have a rest or a layover of not less than 10hrs at the destination or another crew takes over for the return, if the same crew operate for the return without having that amount of rest, its of no doubt against regulations.
To be honest, I would be surprised if they even knew anything about that, and even if they did, they probably wouldn’t do anything. Air Peace probably paid off the top guys (probably the only guys) at the Nigerian transportation department for them to turn a blind eye to whatever they knew would be illegal in Nigeria or other countries.
Mate i live in africa (Angola) as an indian and in know the hectic stuff of africa, but this is just unextable, this could be illegal but if the press dont care so what can we do.
People in developing countries often need to take whatever job they can and are treated poorly. They could still choose to be helpful, but it can be hard when you’re underpaid and overworked.
It literally means, they haven't paid their fuel bill in a long time. And the only place they can secure fuel is "The Black Market" ! Black Market Fuel, It kind of makes you wonder what's in it....
There was a general fuel problem in Nigeria then that the aviation industry was waiting on the government to rectify. So airlines had problems refueling then. It was a very brief period in Buhari's regime. A lot of unusual things happened then
Flew into Lagos in the Spring of 1977. Spent two months in Nigeria. Hard to believe that the country has not progressed/ improved/evolved in 45 years. Corruption is killing any progress.
The country has not made any progress because it was a vessel for Europeans to make money rather than a country. That place should be at least 6 different countries or regional government so that there will be some kind of genuine will to make progress by the different nations. Rather, the western powers that put the crazy place in together are hell bent on keeping their company intact. Even the youtuber that made this video was probably paid by them as to justify why the UK has refused to grant Air Peace a slot so that they will keep extorting money from Nigerians with high airfare. There is a lot of bias on this video! But of course, Nigeria gave him the opportunity to push such narrative.
I don’t know why some airlines get offended when Josh is basically given a free consulting advice!! And he’s doing it for free. Airlines should take these advice in a welcoming manner instead of acting like a little child.
The airlines don't need advice from Josh. They know exactly what's going on. But the owners put the money in their own pockets and don't give a fuck about safty.
In this case at least, they almost certainly know of all these issues already and the root cause is probably either that they don't have enough money or more likely, they are cutting corners because of greed. Since they have no intent or ability to follow that advice, this is simply bad press that has the potential to reduce their revenue. Why would such a person be happy about this situation? Don't assume all people want to do what is best for everyone or sometimes even the company. Trying to harass the reviewer and/or making fake reviews to improve their reputation is cheaper than fixing the actual issues (though also less likely to succeed).
If I remember correctly, Air Peace is and ran by a seedy person anyway. He don’t intend to improve this product. There are going to be a lot of half trained people loosing their job when this airline goes under. The only person who is profiting is the shady person who runs it.
In dis video u didn't tell us wat made d flight to Jo'burg a horror. Perhaps u didn't expect an African domestic/International airline to be dis good, hence u had to dredge up comments from unnamed pilots& employees
This puts into perspective that Nigerian student I met some years ago in the Philippines being amazed that a local budget airline in a developing country like Cebu Pacific was being run so smoothly and professionally and had such polite and friendly crews.
The Philippines is not a rich country compared to western countries and even some asian like korea or japan but nigeria is a whole another lower level.
@@GrimYakExactly. Southeast Asia is not rich, but it is not dirt poor either. It’s heaven compared to most African countries. The GDP per capita of Nigeria is even lower than India.
So different to those other aviation channels with non stop first class, business and even premium economy fantasy experiences, they'd literally shit themselves having to review this. Well done for keeping it real the kind of flights 95% are going experience.
'It still has a lot of Emirates vibes' - That's the understatement of the video! They haven't even replaced the arabic instruction labels in the aircraft! Anyway, good to know you survived another epic journey on Air Drama. Thanks for the video!
Well there is an ex norwegian Twin Otter operating in Scotland UK that STILL has the labels in Norwegian and English unchanged since its last day of service in Norway around the 90s before they were retired and sold off.
I used to work as cabin crew for Thomas Cook Scandinavia, and a flight from return flight from Helsinki to Madeira would require a new crew or 'emergency landing' if the flight was more than an hour late because of the hours. This AirPeace flight was deffo illegal.
I’m a frequent flyer, I love Aviation. I’m surprised you risked your life getting on that 777-300, knowing what you know. Those pics are frightening (the tail strikes) like Hell would I have boarded that aircraft.
@@EFFEZE I’ve come across many race baiters online but you, you take the biscuit. What on earth does not boarding an aircraft knowing there is structural damage have to do with race? Seek help immediately.
I worked in Nigeria in the 90s and used to fly Nigerian airways, the experience was very similar to Air Peace, the amount of bush meat they used to bring on the plane on the way to London often resulted in blood dripping out of the overhead lockers! As for safety, we did an unscheduled landing at a military airport, we were then told that the runway was too short to takeoff and the plane would have to be offloaded, bit later they came back and said they had re-done the calculations and they could now take off! Your assessment of flying in Nigeria is quite correct, but in my experience it is far often bad rather than good. I’m 80 years old now, so we do not need to travel anymore thank goodness. a great video keep up the good work. Thank you.

As a crew member I can confirm that this is way too many hours. At my airline we have a maximum duty time of 14 hours. That includes any combination of report, ground , and flying time
This was painfully entertaining...from the content to the comments of flying mil's had me laughing. Thank you for making your pain our entertainment. Air peace can feel threatened, embarrassed or see it as a stepping stone to becoming world class excellence in flight experiences.
Six months ago while departing Fresno, California, my daughter's Salt Lake bound flight first had to go to Bakersfield because her United flight was unable to secure enough fuel for the trip to SLC. First time I'd ever heard of that. This video makes the second.
Peace from your Egyptian brother 🇪🇬 Nigeria deserves better, I pray God helps your good people and brings your country prosperity. So much wealth in Nigeria mismanaged. A country exporting oil but Lagos airport saying they could not secure fuel! Madness. Africa being robbed, we must strive for better for our children.
This was definitely one hell of an adventure, I respect your courage to fly on such horrible airlines! Our Nigerian friends don’t deserve to fly on such a terrible airline which is riddled with safety hazards, has a dilapidated fleet and an utterly unprofessional ground staff. The 777 may have a lot of Emirates vibes but it’s a 1000 years behind Emirates in every aspect.
That’s why the planes are never full. Very few people travel Nigerian planes on international flights. We prefer to pay higher fares and fly international airlines.
Take your racism back to the Klan. Nigeria is strong, brave and proud we will beat you and take all your women - although, we know that won’t affect you.

In 2020 they did an inaugural flight to Jamaica with much fanfare and African celebrities on board. They were to start regular flights here. Everyone was happy and a lot of other Carribean countries welcomed the idea. But listening and seeing what you went through with air drama/problems we dodged a bullet when they didn't bother.
@@jahiemmcgill2491 The Carribbean Should have made deals with the Big Boys of African aviation the likes of Ethiopian air, Kenya Airways or South African instead of going for a Nigerian domestic private owned airline. The week this “so bad Air Peace” airline started flying to London, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airlines decided to cut their ticket by 40%. What a coincidence They just do not want any competition.
Years ago a Nigerian friend told me she never flew on their airlines. She made that mistake once and told me there was a fight on board before they had even left the runway. I asked, why didn’t the cabin crew throw them off the plane? Because, she said, the people fighting WERE the cabin crew!! 😐

Have you heard of this? All airlines... or most have this period where they don’t have the best service. Lasts for a few weeks or months. Some other airlines have bad service, depending on the crew and where you fly to. However, a small percentage of airlines have bad service ALL the time.
Hi there. Just want to pop in and say that you shouldn’t let Air Peace make you think that all airplanes are unsafe- if you fly with a reliable airline, they know what they’re doing and it’s completely safe. Depending on what country you’re from, here are some reliable airlines: Delta United Spirit (safe, but not the best in terms of quality) Frontier Breeze Allegiant Emirates I can provide better recommendations based on your country if you’d like :)
@@BeamCrasherNG Southwest, Norwegian, Finnair, Alaskian, Qantas, Baltic Air, and Luke Air, British Airways. Volotea, KLM, are all reliable airlines I have flown on. Including many you have named.
Air Peace has mainly served its owner to launder money through this company. There is another private Nigerian airline that I flew twice (don't remember the name) in 2016. It was exactly like Air Peace with a 24-hour delay on the outbound trip and a 14-hour delay on the return (Dakar-Lagos-Dakar). It was insane.
@@Asterix_2016 That's what happens with many airlines in Nigeria. They're created not to serve customers, but to launder money and for the management to steal funds to enrich themselves. There's a reason why the elites in these countries fly European airlines like BA and Air France, often going on a long detour via Europe even for a domestic trip, because the local airlines have such a bad reputation for safety.
Arik, Bellview, Scareways, Okada.... they've all terrified me at one time or another. I've sat and watched the wing hit a fuel bowser, I've watched all the Okada office staff come out and bodily push a plane backwards, I've been sold tickets by touts and travelled with a Nigerian name, I've seen people bleeding after fighting to board an overbooked plane, I've seen passengers dashing around the tarmac being sent from plane to plane, blasted by the engines of a taxiing plane, I've seen the stairs, loaded with furious passengers and swaying alarmingly as it was pushed back, one passenger jumping then swinging from the plane door sill and falling to the tarmac..... and don't get me started on the airports, the corrupt Police, Customs, Immigration, Security... "what have you got for me?" Nigeria is never boring.

Do you feel you can judge us because your economy is better? Well, I wish y'all a good life.
True. But I'll tell you why as a Nigerian. 1) Most of these people live so far away from the airport and recieve very little pay. Which makes them take the hard decision of spending the night at work. 2)The public transport system (high speed trains, buses) that are present in many developed countries are non existent in Nigeria. Which causes serious traffic to work in the morning. Many People who live in Lagos, leave their houses 5 hours before resumption time, just to meet up. 3) Most of these people are not paid well enough in their jobs, so they sleep at work to reduce expenses. The Naira has lost so much value, that people tend to spend almost 70% of their pay on breakfast, lunch and transportation to work and back. Leaving very little for other things like rent etc. These are a few reasons why they sleep there. I might have repeated several reasons. Pardon my repetition. Cheers

Since Air Peace does not require flight crews to pass type rating accreditation tests, I feel that my experience operating a motorcycle, car, and bulldozer all qualify me as a Boeing 777 captain for Air Peace, with four gold bars on my shoulder to command respect in the airport terminal. The craziness I noticed in this video is not all Air Peace issues. Which I believe Mr Cahill already knows about. This is just the craziness with Nigerian Airport operators body FANN. This happens with almost all airlines operating within Lagos Airport. Other issues such as crew customer training and licences show there is more room to improve. But to be honest, the Nigerian government need to do more to support its local operators such as Air Peace; first support getting a Dry Lease agreement to get newer aircraft. Secondly, new safety and training programs to improve our airport ground operations. At least these two issues when addressed make Nigeria's air space safe and peaceful.
Tail strikes are a serious situation and can lead to catastrophic failure due to damage to the rear bulkhead. The fuselage of a plane is not like a skid plate on a truck where by it can be damaged and still used. A 777 without proper maintenance is a recipe for a disaster. Plate C
That is exactly what happened nearly 20 years ago to a China Airlines Boeing 747-200 wich broke up in flight as Flight 611 after a terrible repair after a tails strike 22 years earlier, if Air Peace continues operating the way they are they will have a catastrophic plane crash, I want to say thank you to Josh Cahill for exposing this terrible Airline that should not be flying

If an employee is acting the way that these crew members are behaving in the video. It doesn't necessarily mean that they were actually like this from the beginning. In my opinion the reason why the crew members are like this because of terrible work environment and culture at the company. Long hours of work will probably also contribute a lot to this behavior.

My Igbo brothers think that they can run an airline like a bus transportation company in Nigeria. From what I’ve watched, it’s actually a miracle that no AirPeace plane has crashed to date.
I’m sure a crash would immediately put them out of business, and expose their lack of care for maintenance, or anything really. Wouldn’t even be able to blame manufacturer of the aircraft, the immediate verdict would be the glaring lack of maintenance.
“Running an airline like a bus company” wow that’s honestly a perfect comparison. I have to imagine a lot of buses in that part of the world are just like that, but also in general, if you neglect maintenance on a bus it doesn’t run the risk of turning into a manned suicide drone.

Once long ago when I was a child, I was on a Nigeria Airways flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos, which took off many hours late, giving a chance for all the adults to get completely drunk. Dangerously so, the pilots seemed drunk too. I recall just after takeoff the captain sticking his head out yelling at the flight attendant "shut the f*ing door!" I'm certain this incident was unreported. Nigeria is a crazy place, the craziest I've ever lived in or been to.

I’ll try and answer your question about why crew may appear to be working in the wrong job (esp Air Peace crew). If an airline (let’s say Air Peace) cannot keep a schedule to save itself, the crew bear the brunt of a roster which is constantly disrupted causing fatigue on many levels, on top of dealing with passengers who hold them personally responsible for the circus. This all wears very thin. Additionally, an operation like Air Peace may expect (regularly) that their crew exceed flight time limits, due to poor regulation, this may go unchallenged. Also, they are probably paid peanuts, and if finance is like the schedule, they probably don’t get paid the correct amount or get paid when they’re suppose to. Staying in the job may be marginally better than finding a new job for these Air Peace crew.
Actually, I think the Iran Airport employees are polite to Non-Iranians. Some of them go on power trips and speak very harshly with a ride tons of voice to Iranians who are visiting Iran based on my personal experience. I agree with you that employees at the Tehran Airport were actually nice to him. I don’t think they were rude because they laughed and spoke Farsi. They are in Iranian airport employees and the language spoken in Iran is Farsi and not in English. So, it makes sense that the employees spoke with each other in Farsi and they did speak with him in English since he spoke with them in English. So, I think it’s ridiculous that people are commenting that the Iranian Airport employees were rude to speak with each other in Farsi in front of him!
This actually proves how safe flying really is. If this carrier is getting away with what they are, and many others as well, with long stretches and no crashes. Check their incident history, it’s pretty clean. How far aviation has come really is amazing😅
If watching plane crash channels has taught me anything, its that these planes mostly fly themselves and the pilots don't ever need to do much or even anything other than turn a few knobs, and enter some coordinates into flight calculators. That's why this airline can exist. Because these pilots don't even really have to pilot. Now if something goes wrong with these airplanes you will be screwed because no body knows anything
Wow. I worked as a pilot in third level airlines in Papua New Guinea from 1990 to 1997 and we didn't have these problems. I also lived in Tanzania in 2010 and flew as a passenger on both regional airlines and as an only passenger in charters to a remote area where I worked and did not have your experiences.
Your experience is really sad, and I can totally relate. Flying in Nigeria is such a hassle, and safety is the last consideration in the airlines' minds. There's no excuse for such, and it's sad how Nigerians have to deal with this as part of our daily experience.

I'm wondering, crazy proposition but if you _need_ to go, can you volunteer to co-pilot? I mean, it can't be more illegal than single-pilot ops
Are you asking him to die?
SHOCKING!
I doubt they'd do anything anyways
What can you expect from an airline like Air Peace?

ACTING LIKE A ROUGH GANGSTERS
I suggest you study human nature

Cheers

Thank God Josh survived this flight and tail section didn't fall off.
Josh, keiner macht so tolle Videos wie du und fliegt mit den exotischten Airlines. Hut ab und weiter so!

As an electrician, the airport lights are driving me bonkers.
facepalm, if you were a good electrician you'd know the Hz of those lights don't resonate well with the framerate of the camera that's how you get flickering.
Go take your smartphone out and try to record LED headlights of any car outside your door right now you see even more flickering due to LED lights having an even slower rate ( same things: framerate VS led Hz not being in sync.)
man you suck at your job if you didn't know that
It's the camera's framerate combined with its exposure. You can see the same thing in many dashcams when the tail lights of other cars appear to flicker.
@@CanadaMatt No it's the lights, if you see the reflection on the floor light is still flickering or his hands, camera's don't capture that phenomenon when it's not recording the source.

The fear of cameras in public facilities in Nigeria is probably because of incompetence and poor services. Apparently, a recording might capture proof of their shoddy standards. But appointment to leadership positions in our country often isn't by merit. It's based on other grounds.

Just one thing to note about sending evidence on to media, Photos, remove the exif information - take a screen shot and send that on instead of the original file. For those wondering why the workers are sleeping inside the duty free shops at night :
- - Reason # 1 :
If they don't sleep there the police will break in and steal the duty free goods at night.

WOW. What an eye-opening video. You handled it with professional ease, Josh 👌🏻
The cabin staff were actually being polite. You should see them when they're upset!!
@@thedesertdancer Wow, that was a quick jump from West-Africa to Iran... Not bad!
This actually proves how safe flying really is. If this carrier is getting away with what they are, and many others as well, with long stretches and no crashes. Check their incident history, it’s pretty clean. How far aviation has come really is amazing😅

777 is a good bird.
