I would like to say that this one of the best things you’v done in your life, as a person speaking from experience, the villagers in mauritania are solely dependent on camels and other herd animals for food, milk, and other lively needs. And if you ever want to see the good sides of mauritania, I know plenty, and i mean this with no disrespect, most places you’v gone to dont truly show the beautiful image of mauritania. Mauritania’s becoming fairly popular amongst us backpackers! There’s a lot of cool things to see and do so that makes sense. I think lots of people who go to Morocco will start adding Mauritania onto their itinerary. Nice video as always Drew 😌
Moroccans and algerians dont go to Mauritania, because ppl that live in the morocco and algeria's desert dress/speak same as mauritanians and even the same tradition, why go to another country when you can just go south of your own country lol
Fun fact: Even though the three living species of camel, the Arabian Camel, the Wild Bactrian Camel, and the Bactrian Camel all live in Africa or Asia naturally camels actually originally evolved in North America, which is why the closest relatives of the camel, the member of the genus Lama (Llamas, Alpacas, Guanacos, and Vicuña) all live in South America.

Wow I never seen so many camels in a single place. I really enjoyed this video and drew that was so generous of you, got really emotional at the end. Keep up the good work man.
Drew I typically love your videos. I feel the intent was good here, but misguided. I spent 2.5 years in Burkina Faso with the Peace Corps doing grass roots development work. One of the main things that I learned was if you are going to make large contribution to a community it's very important to know what is needed and who is receiving it. I have seen a lot of projects done by well meaning NGOs that just decided what a community needed without any input from the community itself. These projects usually wound up in the hands of someone without the best intentions or immediately falling into disrepair. My suggestion in to future would be to work with a community organizer and do a needs assessment with the community you are trying to help, to better understand what people need and how to make sure it benefits people (and the community) in the best way possible. Cheers.
My polisci background invoked similar worries, almost instantly. The guy who helped them in the camel market, could have just sent them over to his brothers village. Hopefully, it made it somewhere helpful. A bit simplistic, but teaching a person to fish, rather than feeding it to them, seems to be a simple and effective path for how aid can work.
Wow, mama is such a beauty, I'd have to travel to mauritania just to meet her if your tour guide doesn't get her first! Thanks for bringing her here Drew!
I’m a college student at ASU and we are learning about Modern day slavery in Mauritania right now. Quite crazy to see we still have slavery in today’s modern world
I never said anything about race because slavery can affect anybody no matter their gender, religion, ethnicity, or religion. So yes there is a diverse population there you are correct. Some of which happen to be enslaved by owners and treated as nothing more than property regardless of their physical or spiritual features. Thanks for trying though!
Great Video Drew. Mauretania has always facinated me. It’s great to finally see what the country actually looks like from the perspective of a traveller.
Beautiful video man, the joy you created by doing this had me tearing up. So much more good fortune and happiness will come from this, a butterfly effect that will surely ripple through the future years and create even more love or joy we will never know about. This video and the struggles of filming it seemingly disappeared in that moment too, and really is the embodiment of "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make." Keep up the amazing videos and hard-work Drew, your touching countless lives across the world!

It's so touching how you have done this. You didn't need too but for $450 you have brought smiles to a whole community and stories that will be told time and time again. They will live happier with what you have done. ❤
Helping others and spreading happiness is beautiful. We need more like this. Drew have you seen the camel market in Somalia? Its so similar
If you ever think about coming to mauritania again, please try going places like Tevragh Zeina, casado, nouadhibou, djoukha, chinguetti, Banc d’Arguin, and many more. I love your content and always excited for more.
Them not wanting to be on camera doesn’t automatically make them rude and unfriendly.
Agreed
Yeah I also hate being on camera. I'll be happy to talk to you, but turn that thing off
@@NiePieerdol Exactly. I’m the same.
Yah, but people need to realize that video journalism, entertainment, the making of memories is also a desire humans have. Obviously don’t shove cameras in peoples faces. But people need to respect video goers & their practices.
Very nice of you, Thanks for helping them, I hope you continue helping people on this earth, you traveled the world you can see how people need help, God will reward you, greetings from USA

I’m Mauritanian and the tour guide wasn’t the most honest since he bumps the price for the camels by at least 100 dollars
He got the tourist price on everything!
Like he lied about the number the dealers said?
Is it possible he didn't know the exchange rate very well?
@@VinylUnboxings i doubt that since the camel was around 350 I’m suspecting he took 100 dollars back and kept it for himself when drew wasn’t around
@@elonmusk585 classic 😂
Pretty scummy but a little funny too
Thats very sad to hear, I thought he was a nice guy :(
Mauritania’s becoming fairly popular amongst us backpackers!
@@W.W-z3x True

Fun fact: Even though the three living species of camel, the Arabian Camel, the Wild Bactrian Camel, and the Bactrian Camel all live in Africa or Asia naturally camels actually originally evolved in North America, which is why the closest relatives of the camel, the member of the genus Lama (Llamas, Alpacas, Guanacos, and Vicuña) all live in South America.

Salaam Drew, I'm truly impressed by your willingness to immerse yourself into the culture of the places you travel, your gift to this village is a tradition most people in parts of Afghanistan and the Middle East do as a way to give thanks to the locals for welcoming them. Sending you Respect!

Hey Drew I think it's my turn to win a camera on your channel, honestly I can't be Drew Binsky but since I started watching your videos about a year ago my passion to travel accross the world and tell stories has grown so much. Having a camera to step up my gears will be a great way to make this dream reality
Btw am from Liberia West Africa but I base in your fav country Manila Philippines 🇵🇭🇱🇷
Sony, one of the greatest companies on Earth sponsored the video. You deserve this Drew. I'm so happy for you man! The gesture says a lot about you as a person. You're such a nice guy. Wishing you and your loved ones health and prosperity. 🤘
Hi Drew, my name is Bess and winning this Sony ZV-E10 will be a great relief for me and my students especially the ones who always miss my lectures and give me a bag of excuses then end up not doing well in my course🤦♀️.
It's true some of the excuses are genuine like traffic, and insecurity concerns. atleast if i'm able to record my lectures with the ZV-E10 this time they will have one less excuse to give and hopefully everyone can have an equal chance to getting the course material and they can all do well finally🙏.
The ZV-E10 seems like a really great camera and its live streaming feature is really an icing on the cake for me. Im already a big fan, this will be a great addition to my classroom

Imagine getting a heart from drew
I want to win this camera to use it whilst I’m flying to take aerial pictures!
An incredible thing Drew did to the village. I appreciate it a lot.
I’m a college student at ASU and we are learning about Modern day slavery in Mauritania right now. Quite crazy to see we still have slavery in today’s modern world
and in the video, Have u seen such things like this?
Aren't they all: white, Brown and Black people Living the same condition in the same area??.
This video and the struggles of filming it seemingly disappeared in that moment too, and really is the embodiment of "And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make."
Keep up the amazing videos and hard-work Drew, your touching countless lives across the world!
This was very nice of you Drew
That was such a nice & generous thing to do, Drew! Curious.... how do they share one camel? Who has ownership and will they fight over it?
