That's cool that you were able to capture that moment in time! I used to live not far from there and would often walk thru that part of Pitt so I know it well.
Man I'm originally from Bangladesh but I lived in NYC for 20+ years now, we used to lose power all the time and still do, these people don't know how good they have it.
I'm from there! Born & raised on Avenue D! You started on Pitt & Stanton, then walked on Pitt to Rivington. I went to the elementary school that was right behind you at the very beginning of the video (OLS). Cool post!
Life is fragile everywhere not just NY. I live in South Florida and let me tell you, being 1-2 weeks without any power will drive you nuts especially after a Hurricane when the temp. rises to nearly 100 and you're sweating profusely while sleeping. I always cheer when power comes back.
people could survive without power for 10 days but if you have never been out of NYC they it would be a challenge, All of the New Yorkers, have been through alot in the past week, help each other out, all of you will be rewarded. It take's time.
very true...but there's something particularly disturbing about a completely urbanized island packed with 8 million ppl stranded without power or basic necessities. I'd imagine things could get very ugly very quickly.
"POWER WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH CLAP CLAP WOOOOOO WOOO WOOO WOO WAAAAAAAAAAAAH YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAH NOW WE CAN HAVE COLD BEER YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
I've always said that NYC is my favorite 3rd world country. Those who haven't been would never think that such a world center would retain such an old, crumbling and filthy infrastructure. Behind the times and primative.
i live right around the corner and yes there are bigger problems in the world but thats how my people felt at the moment and er one has a right to express there self there's always gonna be someone worse off than you this is the way of life we became acustomed to and it was disrupted it was a very trying time for er one lost food waqes etc my block was like new years only no one filmed it we were to excited lol...
I asked them for the record. Of course I know how long. Maybe some people that watched this didn't know how long power has been out. What if reporters never asked questions?
good to see people happy although it seems exaggerated. perhaps it's based on inexperience. this was usual occurrence in Yugoslavia for us during the 90s.
only people from pitts street and delancy react like this , peru eso me sorprende por que por ahi lo que hay boricua y dominicano y ellis estan acostunbrado a que se balla la luz
i cannot imaging all ths people living in dominican republic people most of the people there lives everyday with out the commodities people lives here in nyc.. but i guess u have to understand that people here in the city is not used to all that .. congrats

Min 2:20 Priceless lol
Why are so many people angry about this video?
good to see people happy although it seems exaggerated. perhaps it's based on inexperience. this was usual occurrence in Yugoslavia for us during the 90s.

you're right. it was bad but nothing like what the south goes thru.
Clap more America
with what did you record this?
what is your point, as it relates to people in a city being out of power for days. they should NOT have it restored?
Almost a riot and looting from the power coming back on. Must be opposite day in this neighborhood.
Why did you ask those guys how long they had been without power? Can't you remember what happened?
