being in an abusive relationship and not being able to remember the specific details makes it feel like you're lying or exaggerating to yourself. especially when people are so focused on the semantics that they won't even address the overarching theme of abuse. it's horrible. it makes it so important to be kind with yourself and understand that it's okay to not remember every little detail.
I think a part of it that always confuses me (on a personal level this is not something I externalize for others just thoughts in relation to my relationships) my memory is so bad and I miss so many cues or small things that if theres a chance someone did something due to faulty or conflicting information I cant judge harshly for it so it usually takes like 5-7+ repetitions of something with conversations each time for me to feel like im allowed to let it impact how I view them
It makes me think of when you try to confront someone about abusive behavior, and they start asking for specifics, and your mind goes blank. It’s so hard to think in emotionally charged situations, and details get so blurry.

honestly as an asian-australian (born in australia) i think the fragments of his accent that sound aussie are likely genuine bc to me it sounds like a specific type of accent that asian-australians tend to have rather than the stereotypical "g'day mate"-esque accent that non-aussies tend to go for? but that's also not to say he doesn't attempt to play it up whenever it's convenient to match his lie about being "born in perth" when he's really only lived there for a small portion of his life (if THAT's even true lol)

So sad because I dated then married someone exactly like this. Then found out he'd cheated on me the entire 5 years and had a secret child he abandoned and never told me or his family about. I felt like I was in such a secure loving relationship that it shocked me to know the man I thought I loved never existed and it was just a mask. Skip to 9 months later and I'm divorced and he has never bothered to even pretend to have any of the decent qualities I thought he had. i have bpd so i just wanted to clarify for anyone who might not know that there’s no really medication for it just for the symptoms and individual with bpd may have. bpd cannot be cured just treated and it’s very easy for people who have this mental illness to fall into abusive and or unstable relationships… just like brooke i have lied in the past to protect reputations because i did not want to deal with the shame from staying in that relationship and i did not want to harm someone i cared for. it’s been years and i still feel ashamed of myself enough to speak openly about my past. this woman has such a big platform and a condition that is very difficult to deal with so please be kind. it’s not easy to leave.

he also randomly would kill off siblings he didn’t even have to begin with when he wasn’t getting his way, you’d be arguing and suddenly the third brother you never heard of over dosed???
My „friends” had a similar scenario. I always felt weird about them being together, something wasn’t right from an outside perspective but I wasn’t close enough with them to find out what it was.
But at one point they broke up because during their 3+ year relationship, the guy claimed his parents were dead, but she somehow found out they are both alive and broke things off

Some people don’t understand how terrible and dangerous these types of people are. An online “friend” told me when we were 13/14 that he had lung cancer and he was going to die and made everyone believe it, then it turned out to be fake. Years later, he gang r worded a minor and she died. Thankfully, he was arrested. I didn’t have any contact with him throughout the years and only saw this in the news. I am just saying that the concept of death seems like a joke to these people.
