Thanks for Nightwish with Tarja. Tarja Turunen is my absolute favorite among all vocalist in symphonic metal, she was the first who decided to use the classical style of singing in metal. Fun fact: Tarja specialized in Chamber music, not opera, many unfortunately do not understand the difference. P.S. I recommend more Tarja with Nightwish: Slaying the dreamer (my absolute favorite), Wishmaster, Planet hell, The siren, Wish I had an angel, Sleeping sun from the concert End of an era; The Pharion sails to orion, Swanheart, Deep silent complete, Elvenpath+Fantasmic, Beauty and the beast from the concert From Wishes to enternity. Tarjas era was 1996-2007 untill she got fired behand her back(Talk is since Tuomas never got his feelings return from Tarja since high school era, and she got married) wich became End of era and Tarja didnt know she was getting fired at end with an open letter after the tour ended
I love Tarja's voice! Thank you very much! ❤ I'm an old Nightwish fan. When Tarja was fired, we were very sad and a large part of us recriminated the band for the way it happened. It was a very dramatic episode. Many of the old fans stopped listening to the band, and some do not listen to today. Nightwish began to enter the American market with the album "Once", the last with Tarja, at a time when there was no RUclips. But the band is known since Tarja's era in Europe and Latin America. With Annete's input, many fans who still listened to Nightwish rejected her. Now with Floor some old fans came back to listen to Nigthwish again. Floor has been known to listeners of this musical style since her old bands, After Forever and Revamp. She's an amazing vocalist and I myself, for example, used to listen to her before she joined Nightwish. I would like to suggest some reactions. From Tarja Turunen's solo career, please, react to "underneath", the studio version (it's one of the most beautiful rock synphonic ballads I've ever heard), and "Supremacy", live version recorded in Milan (it's really amazing). From Nightwish with Tarja, the music videos of "Bless the child" , "Nemo" and "I wish I had an angel" are wonderful. They deserve a reaction too. Thank you very much!
thats a great point..well before ad nauseam paid replays of the new NW 2013 concert, there was just the sheer, penetrating power of Tarja's superb delivery. Personally i loved Floor with AF and REvamp much more than today...

The old Nightwish was darker and used to have more gothic vibes, it was a perfect marriage with Tarja's voice. Well, but what is done, is done. Remains to us to dream and enjoy what is enjoyable for our taste.

Yep, that was Tarja, you can see why it was a big thing then and why it was a shock when they fired her, right after this show, which ended up being called "End of an Era". I like Floor style better but i have massive respect for this lady. Another great song with her: Wishmaster

I really love Tarja. I'm a huge fan of Nigthwish thanks to her. Floor is very good, obviously, but Nightwish with Tarja is incredible too. Dark Chest Of Wonder, the entire Oceaborn or Wishmaster cd ...
Nightwish were awesome with Tarja. Nightwish is awesome with Floor. This entire show is great in my opinion and there are many good songs to check out!
And that is why fans still love Tarja. She has a solo career now with several albums. Tarja & Floor are still friends & there is a video of them singing "Far & Away" together at one of Tarja's concerts.

I highly suggest these songs with Tarja: "Pharaoh Sails to Orion," "Passion of the Opera," "Beauty of the Beast," "FantasMic," and "The Siren." Floor is amazing and my favorite NW singer, but, Tarja is the voice you will hear on most of Nightwish's albums (for now). If you really want to get into this band, it's good to become familiar with her voice with Nightwish too.
Great reaction, you're really funny! Thank you so much! Tarja has been having an amazing solo career in the past 15 years... Her vocal technique has more of a Classical singing technique mixed within (compared to the later Nightwish singers), but it's not only pure classical/"operatic" singing (she actually does some Classical music concerts, and there she sings with pure classical technique), but When it comes to heavy rock/metal, Tarja is always experimenting with her voice, she uses belted chest voice also, while maintaining her trademark sound: Her voice is not only high but more than that is dark and really powerfull, and she is very theatrical on stage... She also has been maturing a lot as a composer and her last album "In the Raw" is probably her best! I'm so glad you liked this performance, her voice and Marco's one were a perfect match that defined Nightwish sound for almost a decade! yes, its true..she does hit very high notes in many songs, just for the fans..her background is replete with very serious operatic level training...this is from 2005 and now she has developed to an ultra highly polished vocalist
yo are spot on...it fit so brilliantly...in Tarja era, Tuomas wrote to accentuate her operatic prowess and she employed it with absolute exquisiteness, thats why to me, no one else can even approach her delivery
Tarja was in Nightwish 1996-2005 and in this "Tarja era" they used quite much cover songs. Like this 2005 End of an Era concert, they played totally 18 songs and 4 of them were cover songs! The Phantom of the Opera (Andrew Lloyd Webber cover), High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover), Stone People (John Two-Hawks cover (with John Two-Hawks) and Over the Hills and Far Away (Gary Moore cover). Later they just stop playing cover songs. I guess they have own material enough. And now we can say, more than enough. But, like many already suggested, Pink Floyd cover "High Hopes" would be nice. Marko is singing - only boys are on stage. Tarja went change clothes, so band must play something without her. And even I really like Pink Floyd, but this Nightwish cover... I must say, I like it more. Nightwish is amazing in that sense, they can take a song, change it little, put some Nightwish magic over it and there it is. Amazing cover. Like this "Phantom Of The Opera". I like this metal version more than original.... :D
I highly recommend you also listen to Planet Hell / Slaying the dreamer / The Siren / Sleeping Sun / Wishmaster / The Kinslayer. All from the same concert. It's amazing. I love Nightwish, Tarja, Floor!
Actually I think Wishmaster, for instance, sounded better on the From Wishes to Eternity concert. It fits Tarja's old technique more, same with Sleeping Sun.

Oh man Tarja was (is) phenomenal. If you want to explore her more, I recommend checking out "Slaying the Dreamer" from this same show. It's one of the few songs I prefer singing over Floor. It's amazing!

One song I haven't seen any youtuber react to, is Erämaajärvi. Understandable though. Rare because it's in finnish. Extremely beautiful. I grew up with Nightwish and this is one of my all time favourites. Nothing special, just simple beauty. RUclips has the Nightwish studio version and Tarja singing little bit of it live in her solo career. Shout out from Finland!
actually all thats needed is a hearing of Tarja's pounding out of "end of all hope and 10th man down, deep, silent, complete, pharaoh sails to orion, and sleeping son" to see her incredible variety of vocal flavors
Floor hasn't done this with Nightwish but she has performed their rendition of this duet with Henk Poort on the show Beste Zangers, Henk was the Dutch Phantom for years and Floors idol, he kept a few new learned tricks up his sleeve just for her. Other Tarja live songs I would recommend are Wish I had an Angel & Nemo from this concert. Not sure if you've done Floors version of these from Wacken yet but could be fun to do both versions together 😊
Well, I think they're going to play it on the next Amsterdam concert... I think it was one of the conditions of Henk to perform this on Beste Zangers was to perform this song nightwish style on a concert and Floor agreed.
Floor did the song on the Beste Zangers show, but not with Nightwish. Tarja generally never goes that high, except in this song. Other great ones to check out with Tarja are "Walking in the Air", "The Pharoah Sails to Orion", "Deep Silent Complete", "Dead Boy's Poem" (From Wishes to Eternity video), "Beauty of the Beast" (studio or live in Amsterdam)
yah..Tarja-gasms were very common in her era...and Tuomas decided to go for the gold and use her powerful voice to achieve stardom...this is not even her performing at full capacity (she had a throat infection and overall weakness from a fever)

Oh yeah, Tarja gave the original classic Nightwish vocal sound alright and the perfect Tarja song. This rendition is top drawer and her forte (but also, Marko!). Her strengthes to me also limited Nightwish slightly towards all overly operatic all the time. Floor allows for a different range of track types. You can see Floor doing Phantom on Beste Zangers with Henk Poort. (no nightwish version yet!)
Tarja was the original singer and former (music) class mate of Tuomas. Fun fact: Tuomas was forming the band with the idea of making experimental acoustic music, but hearing how Tarja's voice had developed in strength, switched to symphonic metal. Which actually also suited the musical background of the other founding members better. But without Tarja we probably would've listened to some kind of campfire music (if it would've gotten our interest lol).

This band made me experience further within the metal genre. I listened to them as a teenager. Tarja is Nightwish! I stopped listening to them when she was off the band.
You should react to Ever Dream in the same show. Just after this concert the band fired Tarja, all members knew it was her last concert except her and you can see Tuomas feelings at that moment in this song

If he didn't expect significant backlash from the start, there was no need to go public with an open letter with accusations aimed at Tarja and defending the decision, as the first 'words' to the outside world. There could have been a joint statement by the band and Tarja about this, that is the professional way of dealing with this. Giving someone a letter after a concert and then going public the next day is not, and was harmfull to everyone involved. And that doesn't get into if it was the right decision. It was a decision which allowed Tarja and Nightwish to both grow over the years after this, and Tarja leaving Nightwish had already been discussed and it was already agreed she would. This is about mutual respect and managing public relations, not about 'who is right'.

From this concert, the other song that I find the best to watch live is Slaying the Dreamer. Great showcase of Tarja's voice as well, sick riffs and breakdowns, Marko being epic, everything is there. There's a Floor version as well so you can choose.
Great performance and reaction. I highly recommend you also listen to Floor’s version with Hank Poort from the 2019 Beste Zangers TV show (Dutch). They use the Nightwish arrangement and Floor absolutely crushes it. Insane fun 🤘

Tarja is a great operatic singer. Anette(between tarja and floor) was a very good rock singer and a decent operatic singer. Floor is a very good operatic style singer(though not on Tarja's level) and a amazing rock singer.
I would like to suggest a cover that Tarja made of Rammstein's song "Ohne dich". The cover was extremely beautiful. It was recorded at a church in Wacken. Tarja is accompanied only by a piano, a cello and a violin. Check out Floor singing "Phantom of the Opera" with Hank Poort (Best Zangers 2019 rendition). An interesting way to here the shift between singers is to use the live versions of "Ever Dream". Tarja, Annette and Floor all sing it.

Ghost Love Score and Romanticide, for example, are from the last album they did with Tarja, but where her voice shines the best is in Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean. yes, its true..she does hit very high notes in many songs, just for the fans..her background is replete with very serious operatic level training...this is from 2005 and now she has developed to an ultra highly polished vocalist
yo are spot on...it fit so brilliantly...in Tarja era, Tuomas wrote to accentuate her operatic prowess and she employed it with absolute exquisiteness, thats why to me, no one else can even approach her delivery
Tarja was in Nightwish 1996-2005 and in this "Tarja era" they used quite much cover songs.
Like this 2005 End of an Era concert, they played totally 18 songs and 4 of them were cover songs! The Phantom of the Opera
(Andrew Lloyd Webber cover), High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover), Stone People (John Two-Hawks cover (with John Two-Hawks) and Over the Hills and Far Away (Gary Moore cover).
Later they just stop playing cover songs. I guess they have own material enough. And now we can say, more than enough.
But, like many already suggested, Pink Floyd cover "High Hopes" would be nice. Marko is singing - only boys are on stage. Tarja went change clothes, so band must play something without her. And even I really like Pink Floyd, but this Nightwish cover... I must say, I like it more. Nightwish is amazing in that sense, they can take a song, change it little, put some Nightwish magic over it and there it is. Amazing cover. Like this "Phantom Of The Opera". I like this metal version more than original.... :D

When I fell in love with symphonic music it was Nightwish wish I had an angel sung by Tarja and Marco.
I highly recommend you also listen to Planet Hell / Slaying the dreamer / The Siren / Sleeping Sun / Wishmaster / The Kinslayer. All from the same concert. It's amazing. I love Nightwish, Tarja, Floor!
Yes, this concert is amazing from beginning to end. Can't get enough of it.
Actually I think Wishmaster, for instance, sounded better on the From Wishes to Eternity concert. It fits Tarja's old technique more, same with Sleeping Sun.

Oh man Tarja was (is) phenomenal. If you want to explore her more, I recommend checking out "Slaying the Dreamer" from this same show. It's one of the few songs I prefer singing over Floor. It's amazing!

One song I haven't seen any youtuber react to, is Erämaajärvi. Understandable though. Rare because it's in finnish. Extremely beautiful. I grew up with Nightwish and this is one of my all time favourites. Nothing special, just simple beauty. RUclips has the Nightwish studio version and Tarja singing little bit of it live in her solo career. Shout out from Finland!
actually all thats needed is a hearing of Tarja's pounding out of "end of all hope and 10th man down, deep, silent, complete, pharaoh sails to orion, and sleeping son" to see her incredible variety of vocal flavors
Floor hasn't done this with Nightwish but she has performed their rendition of this duet with Henk Poort on the show Beste Zangers, Henk was the Dutch Phantom for years and Floors idol, he kept a few new learned tricks up his sleeve just for her.
Other Tarja live songs I would recommend are Wish I had an Angel & Nemo from this concert. Not sure if you've done Floors version of these from Wacken yet but could be fun to do both versions together 😊

Well, I think they're going to play it on the next Amsterdam concert... I think it was one of the conditions of Henk to perform this on Beste Zangers was to perform this song nightwish style on a concert and Floor agreed.

Floor did the song on the Beste Zangers show, but not with Nightwish. Tarja generally never goes that high, except in this song. Other great ones to check out with Tarja are "Walking in the Air", "The Pharoah Sails to Orion", "Deep Silent Complete", "Dead Boy's Poem" (From Wishes to Eternity video), "Beauty of the Beast" (studio or live in Amsterdam)

yah..Tarja-gasms were very common in her era...and Tuomas decided to go for the gold and use her powerful voice to achieve stardom...this is not even her performing at full capacity (she had a throat infection and overall weakness from a fever)

Oh yeah, Tarja gave the original classic Nightwish vocal sound alright and the perfect Tarja song. This rendition is top drawer and her forte (but also, Marko!). Her strengthes to me also limited Nightwish slightly towards all overly operatic all the time. Floor allows for a different range of track types. You can see Floor doing Phantom on Beste Zangers with Henk Poort. (no nightwish version yet!)
She evolved her range since then though.

Tarja was the original singer and former (music) class mate of Tuomas. Fun fact: Tuomas was forming the band with the idea of making experimental acoustic music, but hearing how Tarja's voice had developed in strength, switched to symphonic metal. Which actually also suited the musical background of the other founding members better. But without Tarja we probably would've listened to some kind of campfire music (if it would've gotten our interest lol).

This band made me experience further within the metal genre. I listened to them as a teenager. Tarja is Nightwish! I stopped listening to them when she was off the band.
You should check all of their old stuff. Especially songs from wishmaster and oceanborn.

You should react to Ever Dream in the same show. Just after this concert the band fired Tarja, all members knew it was her last concert except her and you can see Tuomas feelings at that moment in this song

@@marchon2578 Let me put it this way. If he didn't expect significant backlash from the start, there was no need to go public with an open letter with accusations aimed at Tarja and defending the decision, as the first 'words' to the outside world.
There could have been a joint statement by the band and Tarja about this, that is the professional way of dealing with this. Giving someone a letter after a concert and then going public the next day is not, and was harmfull to everyone involved.
And that doesn't get into if it was the right decision. It was a decision which allowed Tarja and Nightwish to both grow over the years after this, and Tarja leaving Nightwish had already been discussed and it was already agreed she would. This is about mutual respect and managing public relations, not about 'who is right'.

From this concert, the other song that I find the best to watch live is Slaying the Dreamer. Great showcase of Tarja's voice as well, sick riffs and breakdowns, Marko being epic, everything is there.

Tarja, Her voice is amazing for sure. Try the sont "the greatest show on earth". There are so many very good song from Nightwish.
Check out Sleeping sun. It is very different but you will see what Tarja voice made for.

Great performance and reaction. I highly recommend you also listen to Floor’s version with Hank Poort from the 2019 Beste Zangers TV show (Dutch). They use the Nightwish arrangement and Floor absolutely crushes it. Insane fun 🤘

Anette(between tarja and floor) was a very good rock singer and a decent operatic singer.
Floor is a very good operatic style singer(though not on Tarja's level) and a amazing rock singer.

Check out Floor singing "Phantom of the Opera" with Hank Poort (Best Zangers 2019 rendition). An interesting way to here the shift between singers is to use the live versions of "Ever Dream". Tarja, Annette and Floor all sing it.
