@Ambander1 Don't you think saying less then 5% is demeaning to not only Floor and all her fans but also to Nightwish for choosing her to be the main singer? Seriously: Floor is a great singer, Tarja is a great singer. They're different styles, but both certainly worthy of Nightwish! I love the group and their commitment to the music from the beginning to now. I don't like all their songs, I prefer one singer to the other on different songs, some are better live, some are better in the recording booth, and some songs I just have 2 versions of on my playlist because they're booth good in different ways. Just like what you like and don't spread the hate.
@@GOTGames I’m older than you, and I listened to Nightwish at the beginning of their career, with Tarja’s magical operatic voice. Naturally, after Tarja’s voice I don’t like any vocalist
Many new fans will say that they prefer floor's vocals because she is versatile but the original nightwish with Tarja's operatic dark voice was unique. She was able to create a mystic atmosphere that matched perfectly Tuomas' compositions. They kinda created a new sound.
This concept of versatility being THE virtue of a singer is sliding off our hands (just like many other concepts but that's another story). According to that, maria Callas wasn't a great singer because she couldn't growl or jeff buckley wasn't a great singer because he couldn't do opera. And being able to do many things does not necessarily mean you do everything at top level: i ADORE floor since 20 years (i started following after forever with their sophomore album) but when it comes to classical tarja is simply still the number one, just like floor is amazing because she can also growl (smth that tarja will never be able to do and it's absolutely ok this way!).
We've been Nightwish fans since 1996. Two things to remember. Nightwish does not belong to Floor, it belongs to Tuomas. And Nightwish had 16 years of gold & platinum success before Tuomas hired Floor. All three vocalists are good in their own right. Nightwish is more than just Floor
Tarja (Tar-ya) is the most operatic of the 3 female singers, and yes, she is an outstanding singer in her own right. Yep, Marko also has an awesome voice. He was the lead singer of a band called Tarot before joining Nightwish. He sings backing and co-lead on a lot of songs, and lead on a few including their cover /tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes from this same show. This was the 2005 concert in Helsinki. The DVD is called End of an Era because it's Tarja's last show with the band. After the concert, the guys gave her the open letter dismissing her from the band. Floor has not done this with Nightwish, but she did sing it on the Dutch TV show Beste Zengers in 2019 with Henk Poort (Dutch Phantom) The 2nd female lead was Anette Olzon, who is more of a pop/rock style. If you want to hear her, I recommend the official video for Amaranth. For more Tarja, try The Siren or Planet Hell(End of an Era). And for more Floor, Romanticide (Wacken)
Yeah... Tarja was the original. Anette could not really ever compete with that. And the Anette era of Nightwish is basically the worst times of a Nightwish fan. Anette was not a bad singer... but she was not Tarja. Then came Floor. She brought Nightwish back.
I feel bad about judging Anette’s live performances since they’re are basically no professional recordings, it’s all fancam stuff and it’s so hard to really tell how much of the bad quality is actually her. But that’s all that’s available, so it is what it is. 🤷♀️
@@cinnabonbons true this too, i also did wrong not giving her the best chance when Tarja was out of NW, but with time I've come to appreciate how much Annette did good with the band, she kept them together doing albums that are pieces of art, now we have the Queen but let's not forget who came before
I *adore* Floor in the band, but for me Tarja and THAT VOICE is what got me hooked into NW in the first place. Don't worry, there's *no sin* (LOL) in loving all 3. Each lady was/is a WONDERFUL vocalist in her own right; they each brought something different to the table. I will say that to me Annette was the "least good" live, but by no means was she *bad*. And as much as Tarja was the original soul of the Nightwish sound (well, aside from Tuomas's composition) - Floor brings a stage presence that is pretty well unmatched IMO.
From what I have seen Floor is something truly remarkable on stage! She has this feeling about her that controls the entire crowd like no one I've seen. But to see a vocal performance like this as well live must have been amazing!
I first saw Phantom with Floor and Hank, and thought it was amazing! Later I saw this, and despite being much more of a Floor fan than a Tarja fan……. this is way better! But let’s not take away from how much that is due to Marco!
Floor is great but Tarja is the Queen of the Nightwish. Nobody can repeat this performance. Tarja was very sick that night almost unable to sing. But here she sing like this at the end of this concert. You react very entertaining. Cheers from Finland the land of the Nightwish.
Firstly, amazing reaction haha. Secondly, interesting point you made about thinking of Nightwish as Floor, because it's who you heard first etc. Its a similar thing for a lot of the old Tarja era fans too, for the same reason. I think Floor is an incredible singer, very versatile, but the sound is not the same as the sound I fell in love with back in the day. It was the Tarja vocals with the music that drew me in so much, it was very unique - certainly back then. They have different styles, so of course it'll sound different (and I believe Thomas wanted it to move direction anyway after the whole palaver?), but that difference altered the 'Nightwish sound' to me. I don't dislike Floor, of course, but Nightwish to me - locked in a time capsule - is this, the Tarja sound.
I 100% agree with you. I can't find any band that has that same sound, not even the new Nightwish, and it genuinely makes me sad that sound I fell in love with is sort of... gone...
You should check out Islander live at Tampere. The three lead females are all amazing but this performance is an amazing show of Marko's singing and such a nice piece. Marko has a Solo band also that is really good where he does the lead vocals. I really enjoy the song Stones by Marko Hietala
"I thought the previous vocalists weren't good" / Apart from being _good_ , Tarja is a major part of why Nightwish became a symphonic metal band. Tuomas initially wanted to create an acoustic music project, but working with Tarja, he realised the music accompanying her powerful voice needed to be powerful as well. I recommend you check out her solo work and Anette's work with her current project, 'The Dark Element' (even if not for reactions, I think you'll find it enjoyable listening).
You need to react to High Hopes from this same concert. Just Marko on vocals for that one. It's a tribute to Pink Floyd's song of the same name. Absolute world class!!! For more Tarja try Nightwish's cover of Walking in the Air (Live version of course), or Sleeping Sun (also from End of an Era).
@@XiuFeanaro6 I think Nightwish has never performance Siren nor Beauty and the Beast after Tarja was kicked off the band. Both are pretty good songs, too.
Floor have done The Phantom Of The Opera with Henk Poort, first on Dutch TV-show Beste Zangers ruclips.net/video/plCScjvDOJM/видео.html And later on her live tour ruclips.net/video/Gv0d9A-rJ1A/видео.html
Tarja is my favorite Nightwish singer and that is probably because I have been listening since they first started. I like she has more of a haunting sound that just fills the room, she plays the pauses so dramatically. "Ghost Love Score" will be recommended.....I prefer Traja, but Floors version I like the big note at the end......each have their own style. Tarja is still performing and it is disappointing that it feels like Floor fans act like she never existed. I recommend listening to "Dark Chest of Wonders", "Wishmaster", and "Innocence" from her solo album. And Floor kills it singing "Tribal" and "Greatest Show on Earth".
We also love Tarja… 👍🏆 So, check also some really good Tarja songs: Wish I had an angel (live from Wembley), Walking in the air (one of the most early Tarja live songs) And maybe a song without any girl: High Hopes (a tribute to Pink Floyd) 🏆🏆 And if you want to be ready in November with best songs of Nightwish you have to hurry up…!!! May e 2 songs a week!!!?!!!
For me it is weird to know that there exist people who only think of Floor when Nightwish is mentioned, in my opinion Tarja is the best vocalist Nightwish had, second is Annette and third Floor.
I always appreciate reactions to Tarja because she’s AMAZING. Her voice is outstanding. She recorded 5 albums with NW so they have a LOT of songs with her. Also they have 2 DVD with her. My favorites are: this one, slaying the dreamer, Nemo, Planet Hell from this DVD called End of an Era, and from the other one From wishes to Eternity: swanheart, Dead boy's poem, walking in the air. Also they have performances of some festivals (not in dvd and not uploaded in their official channel but they are gold!) 10th man down summer breeze festival 2002 ruclips.net/video/GG8UNbI2KM4/видео.html; Ghost Love Score live Romania 2004 ruclips.net/video/HNfmCF457Fs/видео.html ; Dead boy's poem/Slaying the dreamer combo live in Romania 2004 ruclips.net/video/KVNO47tE198/видео.html And Wishmaster live in Romania 2004 ruclips.net/video/dRET1jiMSXI/видео.html I love that show from 2004, it’s so good! Thank you.
There’s a very loud vocal minority of Floor fans that really go out of their way to dismiss Tarja’s talent and downplay her contributions to the band and I think videos like this are why. So often, when reactors start with Floor and then watch Tarja, they’re blown away because, you know, she’s great. And there’s a real weird aggression there from these fans like they think if new fans like Tarja, or even prefer her, that she’s gonna come back and snatch Floor’s job or something. It’s bizarre. Tarja has the largest catalog of work with Nightwish with five albums total. Anette and Floor have two albums each. A lot of songs people request with Floor were originally Tarja’s. So you’ve got a lot of content with her to go through and it’s well worth it. Definitely check out some stuff from their Wishes to Eternity concert, it’s older from 2000 when most of the band were in their early 20s. It’s honestly phenomenal.
Tarja is, and will always be, my very first NW experience and what an experience it was 🤩 I do not understand why diss any of the 3 ladies, they are so different to each other and amazing in their own right. That being said: I always go for the current singer at the time, I always have. Now it is Floor.
Yeah when Anette started in Nightwish, there really was an effort from Tarja's fans to restore her in the band, and poor Anette got a lot of really mean treatment. But Floor fans should learn early (because her fans make it very clear) that Tarja has no interest and neither does the band, to restore their co-operation. But there is another aspect in that dismissing earlier Nightwish, that belittling everyone else polishes the halo of your idol. At least in your eyes, although other people may react completely differently. Alright by me, be just one vocalist era fan if you want to, but that division you're trying to achieve, will result people also leaving your fan army, for all don't like the toxicity. You want civil war, your idol is also the victim.
I think that is just the case with most fan bases of any group. I see it with bands I follow and have followed which is a shame. But after this performance I do massively already appreciate Tarja, she has an outstanding voice! And Floor equally. Like people have said you can love both. I mentioned at the end about drowning pool, 4 different singers and I love them all, but all are completely different!
@@GOTGames Are you ready to appreciate Tarja even more? This performance was during her last concert and she was incredibly ill. Her doctor told her not to perform at all and she did anyway, and this is how good she still sounds. So you’ve not even gotten to experience her at her best. 😉
Yeah...there's a reason why Nightwish catapulted into international Stardom when it was Tarja who was Frontwoman. *Insanely* talented, enigmatic, drop-dead gorgeous woman. Every Female fronted Metal band took classical singing/opera lessons after Nightwish's Oceanborn album; Floor Jansen included.
Ghost Love Score is originally a Tarja song. So yeah, she's amazing. Her and Floor are very different but both incredible. If you want to hear more of her, check out Slaying the Dreamer (the number one song I always prefer with Tarja instead of Floor), Wishmaster and Ever dream.
I think tarja album version of ghost love score is amazing. But live it's one of the songs I think she sounds bad singing. She has too much of an accent singing it live to the point it sounds nothing like the album version, and certainly not a patch on the floor version. BTW I first got into nightwish listening to tarja but that doesn't make me think she is the best of the three.
@@gavinchapple8350 I wasn't commenting on her live performance of Ghost Love Score, just saying that it is a song that was originally composed and designed with Tarja as the vocalist.
I totally agree with you on those songs. It is was it is. Some songs were absolutely made for tarja especially ever dream And some of the older songs were made for floor. It’s not a big deal, they’re both amazing.
@@davidellinsworth22 what????🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️Floor’s operatic voice is too weak, the only thing she is good at is singing on the chest resonator, which a large mass of people like you perceive more than classical vocals. because it's more like pop vocals
@@davidellinsworth22 she doesn't even have classic vocals, in the academic sense of the word. well, you have to be at least a little objective and have a brain to understand that Tarja is unsurpassed in classical vocals. your comments are very stupid and funny. it's obvious that you have no idea about vocals
@@ALINA-ye2eu I'll say it again, with emphasis, because you obviously misunderstood..... "with the EXCEPTION of opera". Even many old school Nightwish fans have conceded that Floor has taken many songs (including many written for Tarja) to a new level. I think Tarja is fantastic, but her colour pallet is limited. Labeling Floor as a pop singer is ridiculous at best, and proof that you're biased and have refused to move on from the Tarja era.
One must never forget: Tarja was the voice that made them famous! So, no matter what happended throughout the years, she'll always have a place in my heart.
@@GOTGames Tarja is without a doubt a terrific artist, but if you want to experience art at the highest level, then you should really watch Floor with Phantom of the Opera.By the way;Floor nailed a D6 as Highnote!
I really loved your reaction to Tarja's voice....she is amazing and she do that to your soul. Tarja is one of the BEST voice and performer out there. Period. To hear Anette I would recommend" Meadows of heaven "or "Scaretale".
"Is there a version of Floor singing this as well?" Yes, but NOT with Nightwish. She sang a duet with Henk Poort, which you should DEFINITELY check out.
There're two different live versions of Phantom of the Opera with Floor+Henk. The original TV performance: Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom Of The Opera | Beste Zangers 2019 ruclips.net/video/plCScjvDOJM/видео.html Floor's Live in Amsterdam show (smartphone recording only, no official video has been released yet): Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom Of The Opera | 31-01-2020 ruclips.net/video/q_EadrIRKLo/видео.html You should definitely go with the TV performance.
@@FluffyLaDooDoo agree.. I love Floor, but I didnt really like her performance in that song. I mean its good, but nothing outstanding. Henk Poort was great tho
I love this Marco 'sneak attack' when people see it for the first time. I've grown to really appreciate how good of a live performer Tarja was with Nightwish and now on her own. And while there isn't a lot of live performance video of Anette, there's no denying her contribution to the two albums that featured her. They were both extraordinary records.
You're probably gonna wanna check out her work, plus her solo career. She can do things not many singers can. In particular hit high notes without cutting power
One of the all-time classic performances of the Tarja era of Nightwish. Never gets old, especially the ending. As has been pointed out in other comments, there doesn't seem to be any Floor performances of this song with Nightwish, but she has sung the song before, particularly her duet with the Phantom himself Henk Poort on a Dutch TV show ( ruclips.net/video/plCScjvDOJM/видео.html ) which is absolutely something you should record a reaction to!
Great reaction! TARJA is my favourite Nightwish vocalist. Like you, I discovered NW with Floor, GLScore and Wacken 2013. But I *fell in love* with NW with TARJA, Phantom and End Of An Era 2005. So, moreTARJA reactions, please! EOAEra 2005 is a great intro to #TarjaEra live performances. The concert has so many fab songs, all excellently performed by TARJA and the band. In addition to Phantom, my other EOAEra faves include Nemo, The Siren, Wishmaster, Planet Hell, Slaying The Dreamer, Bless The Child, Sleeping Sun, and Creek Mary's Blood - all excellent live performances! 🎵 ☺️
You should know that Tarja is a classical trained opera singer, and she is magic on stage. Had the fortune to see them live when she was still around. Sadly they had a rough falling out...
Must to hear: She is my sin, Wishmaster, Beauty & the Beast and The Kingslayer From Wishes to Eternity live... You'll going to love it! ♥ plus: Wish I had an angel...
Check out this for more Tarja and early Nightwish : 🎼 Nightwish - Swanheart 🎶 From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered ruclips.net/video/R5H_x-00wmU/видео.html also the whole concert is great, love it since it was released 🥰🥰
Tarja is a great opera trained singer, she is the main reason (beside of course Tuomas composing skills) why Nightwish got famous. When they split up even the finnish Prime Minister commented about that. Now what Floor makes so great for Nightwish was that she is able to sing most of the old stuff that was written for Tarja. The second singer, Anette, was good in Studio and with songs written for her, but she simply was not able to sing old stuff very good life. Thats just a very short overview of the story of course 😄 Oh and here some "ancient" fun video : TARJA TURUNEN & TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN (1994) HD ruclips.net/video/mNRahGTlE6s/видео.html
@@cinnabonbons I wonder how many people these days claim to be big Nightwish fans, and have never seen or heared that. The same with "Deep Silent Complete" and "Walkin in the air" since those songs have never been sung by Floor and so no reactor ever reacted to them. But thats original Nightwish, thats whats made them great and why so many people loved them, and thats also a big part of what created the whole symphonic metal genre.
Tarja’s powerful operatic tone is UNMATCHED!! She really is amazing, and definitely did not leave Nightwish because she wasn’t good. She was the voice that inspired Nightwish's whole sound and made it so unprecedented in the metal genre. Tuomas has to be given credit for his brilliant compositions, but it was her voice and face that people associated with the band and without her, they probably would never have blown up the way they did. Floor is incredible and fits in perfectly with the group, but their popularity was already WELL established before she joined, and that's because of Tarja and Annette. So don't worry, you can in fact say you love and appreciate Tarja's voice without adding a disclaimer about Floor ;) If you’re looking for more Tarja songs to react to I highly recommend Nemo!!! It’s one of the most beautiful songs ever and was totally made for her voice. But I also highly recommend checking out stuff from her fantastic solo career, cuz she's STILL one of the most well-known metal goddesses in the world, and her skill has only improved in the 15+ years since she left Nightwish. Until My Last Breath, Supremacy, and Crimson Deep are all amazing! I’m also gonna shamelessly plug MY favorite symphonic metal group Within Temptation, who I think you’ll love as well, and Tarja did a song with them called Paradise! ruclips.net/video/8vsKQTfxf80/видео.html The group has been around since 1996 just like Nightwish, and together they were two of the pioneers of symphonic metal, and just for women-led metal groups as a whole. It was a pretty rare thing back when they started. If Tarja is the goddess of symphonic metal and Floor is the Valkyrie, then Sharon den Adel's clear, silky voice and ethereal high notes make her the siren. Or the angel. She's as beautiful as one, too. She uses her lower tone more these days in songs like Faster, Let Us Burn, and The Purge because it fits better with their current rougher rock sound, but when she does go higher you'll get chills. And unlike Tarja and Floor, she’s self-taught rather than formally trained. If you do decide to check them out, in addition to Paradise I’d highly recommend checking out the Black Symphony performance of Truth Beneath the Rose, The Promise, or Somewhere (widely dubbed by RUclips as "the best duet ever"). Also, have you heard Floor’s version of Phantom?? She does incredibly too, and the performance is much more traditional. The man she performs with actually played the Phantom in the Dutch production and he’s just fantastic. Looking forward to more Nightwish reactions and what you think of their third singer, Annette! I like her a lot but she’s definitely very different from both Tarja and Floor. Btw congrats on your baby!!!
Flor is, but it's good how important it was for Nightwish to have Tarja, Flor was also working on After Forever, she would never be able to give the status to, but she managed to give the status to bandaeg that Tarja gave to Nightwish, she not only the vocals of the group, she was the face of the band too, her voice was very marked, her precision, and her differential, of having a greater focus on lyrical singing, made Nightwish what it is, and get where has arrived. That's undeniable, if Flor were the X element of the question, After Forever would have been the biggest symphonic metal band in the world... and let's see, it wasn't. It's idiotic to take Tarja's weight and merit away, in the construction of this status, so much so that today, even in her solo career, she sells tours, sells well, remains well positioned in the market, does the same festivals that Nightwish does. Finally Tarja gave the name.
Most of my favorite Nightwish songs come from the Anette time. She gets passed over a lot in talking about best singer in Nightwish but that is like going to the Olympics and saying the person with the bronze metal is bad. Anette is still an amazing singer. The other two just get talked about more.
Anette's 2 studio albums are my favourite and most listened to Nightwish albums (3 if you include the "score"), the whole band's sound changed and became a lot thicker and warmer. Just a shame that she wasn't able to do her own songs justice in a live setting, let alone carry off any of the stuff Tarja did.
I honestly don't think you can make a sensible comparison between them. Each has such a distinct voice and style that comparing them is like comparing a saxophone, a trumpet and a french horn. And the band has changed too, it has different eras and preferring one over another is a question of personal preference.
I have enjoyed so much your reaction!!! Specially as I grew up listening to Nightwish with Tarja, and since she left the band after the End of an Era Concert in 2005, Nightwish has never been the same to me anymore, not even with Floor. For me Tarja is Nightwish ❤️. She is an opera singer with a very powerful voice and the way her voice mixed with Marko’s, plus having the strong energy and leadership of Tuomas and the other members it was just priceless for me! Where to go from here? 🤩 Simple, watch the entire End of an Era Concert! It was the last one they performed together and the best one ever! If not, then PLEASE go to The Sound of Silence by Disturbed, you will never ever regret it!!!
All three singers are truly awesome! Tarja and Floor have special stage presence, which Anette unfortunatelly lacks. But, fun fact, records where she sings are Nightwishes most sold discs. There are no weak links in NW, just small differences. Enjoy your journey!
Anette doesn't really lack stage presence, but she lacks stamina to tour. She also doesn't really like the stage as much given the toll it took on her body. Still, as a soloist she is doing better without touring. Tarja is doing well as a touring soloist (however, she had a stroke while at home a few years back).
@@jeffreyphipps1507 Annette totally lacked stage presence. She looked someone’s aunt trying to be hip. And she could not even perform the songs written for her live. She was a terrible choice. The albums sold themselves, it was not because of her. What Floor could make those albums sound like if they re-recorded them. She already made all of the songs better, performing them live. SMH at people who lamely try to justify Annette the Mistake.
I’ve watched this version dozens of times, and I get teary every single time. Floor does sing this, but it wasn’t as epic as this Marco and Tarja version.
Two of my favorite Tarja songs that aren't often requested or talked about are The Siren and Planet Hell, here's some links if you're curious! Both songs also have a good bit of Marko singing! The Siren: ruclips.net/video/LUy8T_3kieI/видео.html Planet Hell: ruclips.net/video/MckQglkuK_k/видео.html
So fun to watch you there! Annette has the most distinct voice of the Nightwish female vocalists, some people thought she didn't fit because she couldn't sing old Tarja songs, but she helped Nightwish to greater commercial success. If you're going for her next, go for one of the following: Scaretale official live, Slow Love Slow live at Montreux, or the official (non-live) video for Amaranth. If you want to stick with Tarja, others will give you better suggestions than me (though I adore her Nemo and Sleeping Sun).
For Anette, I'd also add in The Crow, The Owl, And The Dove, the official fan video. (The record label had a contest, for fans to make videos for the song.) It's a beautiful song that very much suits Anette's voice, although be warned, the video is a tear-jerker. ruclips.net/video/iyY5QMf41dk/видео.html Congrats on the new baby!
Tarja (pron: Tar-Yuh) has a beautiful voice, as does Anette. But Marko Hietala (pron: HEE-ah-Tallah), bassist, also has an amazing voice! To hear more Marko on lead, check out (from this same show) the band's tribute to Pink Floyd, High Hopes. The Nightwish version of this song is so good, even David Gilmour is a fan!
@@davidellinsworth22 Right?! Every PF fan I get to watch it...they're always skeptical at first...but by the end they are blown away! And even if it weren't a tribute/cover...the song stands strong on its own!
@@davidellinsworth22 Haha! Nightwish, soothing the savage in-law! I hope you got to watch him discover it...when Marko hits the 1st, "the grass was greener" faces get interesting!
I "grew up" listening to theTarja era of Nightwish. I visited Finland on a business trip in the early 2000s, and first heard Nightwish while there. I first thought "that's not right, mixing opera with metal/rock." Things being things, it stuck in my head and I looked for them here in the US. Became a fan, and bought everything I could find. I like the Floor era stuff, but the Tarja era is special to me. I have the older albums, the Tarja era DVDs, and even the Beauty and the Beat DVDs. Long live Floor and I wish her well, but she can't do "Elvenpath" live like Tarja. Or Deep Silent Complete. Or......
The third singer (middle singer) Annette Olson has a more pop sound. I started listening to Nightwish with Tarja and like her the best. Tarja did Ghost Love Score at this same concert and it’s great too.
More Tarja: "The Siren" or "Ever dream" same gig If you want to check out Anette: "Sahara" live from Exit 2008 or "Amaranth" official Video. If you wanna hear jazzy Nightwish with Anette: "Slow love slow" live (it's really cool)
I love Tarja, i loved NW so much but i stoped hearing their newer stuff cause i was so dissapointed with the new singers... NW without Tarja isn't NW anymore. If you like n Nightwish check within temptation as well
Floor is nightwish right? Wrong. Tarja is nightwish. The first era of nightwish was the best. They were an epic dark symphonic metal band. Now they are a pop rock production. Check 🎸Slaying the dreamer🎸 live from the same consert. Marko and tarja sing together as well. It's a heavier song and it will blow you away. Floor is good but Tarja is awesome. Very nice reaction.
Oh dear Man you must understand that there would be no Nightwish without Tarja. She was one of the co0founders of the band. A lot of the songs you have heard Floor sing were written for Tarja and I suggest you react to them with her singing as well.
This whole concert is amazing. Here is the link: ruclips.net/p/PLexzLA11Cst2704XTYLt7QPK0LLexdG4P Nightwish has a very large catalogue. The group's first work was recorded by its founders: Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja. It's an acoustic demo from 1996. Usually people suggest the live performances, which are really wonderful, but if you stick to them, you'll never know many wonderful songs. I will list the band's studio discography, specifying the corresponding vocalists: 1 - Original demo (1996) - Tarja 2 - Angels fall first (1997) - Tarja - this would be the band's second demo, but it became their first album. 3 - Oceanborn (1998) - Tarja 4 - Wishmaster (2000) - Tarja 5 - Over the Hills and far away (2001) - Tarja - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings 6 - Century Child (2002) - Tarja 7 - Once (2004) - Tarja 8 - Dark Passion Play (2007) - Anette 9 - Made in Hong Kong (2009) - Anette - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings 10 - Imaginaerum (2011) - Anette 11 - Endless forms most beautiful (2015) - Floor 12 - Human. :II: Nature. (2020) - Floor I would like to suggest the song "Underneath". It's from Tarja's solo career. It's really a beautiful song. It's a ballad. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/jN7qSYRYgNE/видео.html Thank you!
Tarja gets a lot of hate because of how the band and herself handled things at the end of their time together. Not to mention that Floor brought over a new wave of supporters of Nightwish, so newer listeners tend to be more biased in that regard. Tarja is a powerhouse as you just saw. A few songs I suggest you should check out with her are Slaying the Dreamer, 10th man Down, Creeks Mary Blood. Sleeping Sun, Walking in the Air... I am sure you will get to do the entire Nightwish Catalogue anyway, but don't neglect Tarja over Floor when it comes to doing the older songs. They both deserve respect at the end of the day.
Nightwish has had three lead singers, as you say ... or in fact four, because their bassist Marko Hietala also has a great voice, which works so well with the other lead singers and he has also sung solo. I can recommend that you also react to "High Hopes" from the same concert (with Marko as lead singer): ruclips.net/video/4oEDnVeYYyM/видео.html
So.... now you've met Tarja :) She is a suberbly talented vocalist, classically trained, the main reason the fans go crazy over Floor is her ability to perform a wide variety of styles without missing a beat. (And her charisma. And her astonishing power.) This was Tarja's very last performance with Nightwish. Less than an hour after she left this stage her bandmates fired her by means of public letter. It was a very ugly business, with misunderstanding on all sides. Some former bandmates did not speak to each other for over a decade. Tuomas Holopainen considered suicide in the aftermath. This performance though, shows why Nightwish became popular in the first place. Oh so you noticed Marco's (the bass player) vocal ability then? He literally could sing lead vocals in other band.(And so could Troy Donockley, the multi instrumentalist who joined the band in 2012)
Well, Marko did literally sing lead vocals in another band - Tarot. For the laughs, check out Wings of Darkness, with a 20-year-old, before-the-beard Marko, in Tarot's glam-look days: ruclips.net/video/VimogVM3i9Y/видео.html
@@fabiobrito6031 No? You don't like Marko looking like he got possessed by Twisted Sister? LOL! There is this journey what is happening, because new fans always starts with Ghost Love Score. First phase of course is Floor who will kick every door and roof open - people don't know what hit them, grown men cry like a baby and it's goosebump after goosebump - also in this phase you kinda realize that everyone is good. Second phase is Marco time, when you realize how insane and versatile guy he REALLY is. Third phase usually starts when you have listened something like 8-12 great hits, which are all unique and it will hit you - Tuomas (keyboard guy) is brains behind this whole operation. There is a reason why fans call him Metal Mozart.
Love seeing people watching Tarja for the first time, she is the true Queen of symphonic metal. 🇫🇮👑, Also remember Tarja was only in her 20s when this was recorded, Tarja has just got better and better, her and Marco were a fantastic duet together. Look at Tarjas so stuff.
Nightwish (with Tarja) was my introduction to symphonic metal, and I will forever love them for that. "Wish I Had Your Angel," "Storytime," and "Noise" are a few of my favorites. Tarja's "Score for a Dark Christmas" is an absolute staple in my holiday music collection! I do so love songs in minor keys 🖤💜💙☻️
Both singers are good. Tarja is a classically trained opera singer. Floor has studied rock and opera, but she is not a classically trained opera singer. She studied opera for a year. I guess it is personal preference. Personally I prefer Floor. But Tarja has a great solo career since she left Nightwish. Very well worth listening too, also.
You should check Tarja solo career too, its amazing, Something like the cover of supremacy from Muse. its a great song that she made her own. good reaction
OH please don't leave the Tarja era just yet!! Your reaction was so fun and there's so many good songs to discover yet! I love the Pharao Sails to Orion (From Wishes to Eternity concert) and Slaying the Dreamer or Wishmaster from End of an Era, so great! Also The Siren is very special.
For me i rate Tarja higher than Floor. With that said i do not think Floor is bad in any way. Its probably that I listened to NW from the beginning and bought their first 3 or 4 records or maybe 5... do not remember how many. I saw them live also with Tarja as singer. It was amazing. I have not talked about Anette and that is because i did not listen to NW for some years. I do know that all 3 singers in NW have been awesome singers. But as i said in the beginning. I rate Tarja highest.
Thank you for reacting to Tarja, her voice shaped and pioneered this whole genre. BTW don't listen to people who claim Anette (2nd singer) wasn't good live. She's one of the best singers in this genre. People love to misjudge or downright hate her because she's more of a middle voice and doesn't really sing in head voice. She probably had the hardest job with the most rigorous Nightwish tour dates, which affected her consistency live during Dark Passion Play tour, but this fact is often exaggerated, she's spectacular live. Listen to her performances during Imaginaerum tours. She added more variations of sounds for Nightwish cementing their career even more and making it easier for singers like Floor to cover Nightwish sounds. Tarja and Anette are very important in Nightwish history, don't get too wrapped up with Floor fans who exaggerate Floor skills.
My favorite version of this song!! I listened to Nightwish a lot and I still love them, check out "Nemo" and "While Your Lips Are Still Red" (this song only Marco sings). If you want to hear some music with Anette I strongly recommend "Storytime", is amazing.
As much as it irks me to hear someone say that Floor is Nightwish, I also love this new fandom that keeps coming to the realization that Nightwish is the best at what they do.
I've always found it interesting that people who have started their Nightwish journey with Floor tend to assume the first two singers were bad. With all the talent that Nightwish brings at every position, why would it be thought that they would ever have a bad singer? 😂 They are all three quite special in their own unique way, but Floor is the one that touches my heart with every note and every breath.
Great performance of The Siren! Also loved Nemo, Planet Hell, Wishmaster, Slaying The Dreamer, Bless The Child, and Creek Mary's Blood from the EOAEra concert - all excellent live performances!
Some other great songs are “Wish I had an angel”, “Dark Chest of Wonders”, “Wishmaster”, “Ever Dream” which all have Tarja. For Marko the Islander live is amazing. The Keyboardist (Tuomas) is the person who writes, composes and produces all the songs. For Anette (the other vocalist) Amaranth, Bye Bye Beautiful are great.
Tarja.. Queen of symphonic metal 🤘❤
My absolute favorite version of this song. Tarja's voice is amazing and Marco is fantastic as well.
They compliment each other so well!!
I think this is best and most respectable way to explain it.
@@metalgymbro4890 Every person out there can learn to growl. Tarja simply doesn't care about growling.
Both are great, end of discussion :)
@@metalgymbro4890 Honestly it's not. It's only Floor Jansen fans repeating that. Nobody else really measures singing talent like that.
THIS is Nightwish. The real Nightwish
@@bobsuisse2 You repeated everything I said. Lol... Nice try though 🤣
👏👏👏👏👏
i dont like floors singing.i only listen tarjas singing nigtwish songs.
Tarja is the real Queen of nigthwish
@@YerkoCornejo-fd4kv yeah, the drama queen. but that just bands too.
Floor has not done this with Nightwish, but she did sing it on the Dutch TV show Beste Zengers in 2019 with Henk Poort (Dutch Phantom)
The 2nd female lead was Anette Olzon, who is more of a pop/rock style. If you want to hear her, I recommend the official video for Amaranth.
For more Tarja, try The Siren or Planet Hell(End of an Era). And for more Floor, Romanticide (Wacken)
From Anette studio recordings are better. She wasn't that strong on stage.
Sadly true, i´ve never been able to find any recording of Queen Floor singing this with Nightwish, she would´ve done it prefect for sure
Marco is the best. Fact ended here.
@@0okyo #justiceformarko
You took the words right out of my ass.
👏👏👏
I 100% agree with you. I can't find any band that has that same sound, not even the new Nightwish, and it genuinely makes me sad that sound I fell in love with is sort of... gone...
You should check out Islander live at Tampere. The three lead females are all amazing but this performance is an amazing show of Marko's singing and such a nice piece. Marko has a Solo band also that is really good where he does the lead vocals. I really enjoy the song Stones by Marko Hietala
More than happy to check that out! Definitely!
Can't wait for your reaction to the Islander Tampere live performance. 😊
Yeahhh and also Tides
The real Nightwish, nothing else to say 🤘
"I thought the previous vocalists weren't good" / Apart from being _good_ , Tarja is a major part of why Nightwish became a symphonic metal band. Tuomas initially wanted to create an acoustic music project, but working with Tarja, he realised the music accompanying her powerful voice needed to be powerful as well.
I recommend you check out her solo work and Anette's work with her current project, 'The Dark Element' (even if not for reactions, I think you'll find it enjoyable listening).
Thank you! Will definitely check those out Zoe! 🤘🤘🤘❤️
Cannot wait to check that out! Loved him on this one!
Oh yes, High Hopes with Marco please 🤘🔥🙏
For Tarja a must listen is "Wishmaster" and Marco is "High Hopes"
Will check them out! 🤘
@@GOTGames Floor also sings Wishmaster, you could do both versions and react to both, for me that song will always belong to Tarja

Tar-ya. Tuomas and Tarja founded NW. He wrote most of their songs for her voice. She is the alpha of symphonic metal.
All hale the REAL TRUE Queen of Nightwish!!!!!!!!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!!!!!!😀👍👍👍👍👍🤘
We also love Tarja… 👍🏆 So, check also some really good Tarja songs: Wish I had an angel (live from Wembley), Walking in the air (one of the most early Tarja live songs)
And maybe a song without any girl: High Hopes (a tribute to Pink Floyd) 🏆🏆

I really don't think I'll be going sadly but you never know! I'll try 🤘🤘
For me it is weird to know that there exist people who only think of Floor when Nightwish is mentioned, in my opinion Tarja is the best vocalist Nightwish had, second is Annette and third Floor.
Absolutely, Tarja is the only true Nightwish vocalist for me!

I love that show from 2004, it’s so good!
Tarja is, and will always be, my very first NW experience and what an experience it was 🤩
I do not understand why diss any of the 3 ladies, they are so different to each other and amazing in their own right.
@@GOTGames Yeah, Nightwish isn't special case in that, break ups and especially with lead vocalists: that's hard.
@@GOTGames Are you ready to appreciate Tarja even more? This performance was during her last concert and she was incredibly ill. Her doctor told her not to perform at all and she did anyway, and this is how good she still sounds. So you’ve not even gotten to experience her at her best. 😉
I saw Tarja last friday here in Buenos Aires... omg she was amazing as always...
Yeah...there's a reason why Nightwish catapulted into international Stardom when it was Tarja who was Frontwoman. *Insanely* talented, enigmatic, drop-dead gorgeous woman. Every Female fronted Metal band took classical singing/opera lessons after Nightwish's Oceanborn album; Floor Jansen included.
Well said.
Thank you! Will check that out 🤘
I always get teary-eyed hearing Ever dream with Tarja. It's my favorite song, honestly.
Tears in your eyes is all you get every time you listen Tarja voice/songs...
i'm partial to Tarja. i was a teenager watching Nightwish and i had a crush on her. :) Floor is great and all but...
Floor is by far the most versatile of the two. Sorry, but with the exception of opera Floor has Tarja beaten in every aspect.

THANKS for some TARJAWISH !!!!
☮☮💘💘
In love with TARJA'S vast brilliant diverse solo career- 9 studio, 5 live albums and much more.
So don't worry, you can in fact say you love and appreciate Tarja's voice without adding a disclaimer about Floor ;)
If you’re looking for more Tarja songs to react to I highly recommend Nemo!!! I’m also gonna shamelessly plug MY favorite symphonic metal group Within Temptation, who I think you’ll love as well, and Tarja did a song with them called Paradise! ruclips.net/video/8vsKQTfxf80/видео.html
The group has been around since 1996 just like Nightwish, and together they were two of the pioneers of symphonic metal, and just for women-led metal groups as a whole.
He's done NEMO with Floor, but yeah, Tarja is great on that too. It's one of my favorites with her.
And I second Within Temptation.
@@fabiobrito6031 That's nice. Completely unrelated to the video or my comment, but nice.
@@SolFaithman I think a lot of that was Tuomas writing such amazing pieces.
I honestly don't think you can make a sensible comparison between them. Each has such a distinct voice and style that comparing them is like comparing a saxophone, a trumpet and a french horn. And the band has changed too, it has different eras and preferring one over another is a question of personal preference.
@@Myrkky100 Exactly this. When people argue "Who is the best Nightwish singer?" there is no "best", just people's favourite.
Tarja's "Once" sold globally most. Anette's "Dark Passion Play" sold more in Finland but not globally.
Floor has a version without Nightwish that is truly amazing. Look up phantom beste zangers
Wow!
Ah I'm excited to hear Anette as well!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤
Amazing reaction.
U need to see The Siren, is one of my favorites with Tarja.
Two of my favorite Tarja songs that aren't often requested or talked about are The Siren and Planet Hell, here's some links if you're curious! Both songs also have a good bit of Marko singing!
The Siren: ruclips.net/video/LUy8T_3kieI/видео.html
Planet Hell: ruclips.net/video/MckQglkuK_k/видео.html
(The record label had a contest, for fans to make videos for the song.) It's a beautiful song that very much suits Anette's voice, although be warned, the video is a tear-jerker. ruclips.net/video/iyY5QMf41dk/видео.html
Congrats on the new baby!
Tarja and Tuomas made Nightwish what it is.
They evolved of course.
Tarja is a classicaly trained singer... has operatic records
Tarja is No1. A unique and undisputed voice talent 👻🏅😊 Must listen 'Wish I Had an Angel'
This version of Phantom is the best ever for me ... love your reactions :)
Agreed. High Hopes from this concert is so good it's actually ridiculous!!!
@@davidellinsworth22 Right?! Every PF fan I get to watch it...they're always skeptical at first...but by the end they are blown away! And even if it weren't a tribute/cover...the song stands strong on its own!
@@amygoodson-catlady my brother in law is not only a die hard Floyd fan (as am I) but he also hates covers.... but he loved this one
@@davidellinsworth22 Haha! Nightwish, soothing the savage in-law! I hope you got to watch him discover it...when Marko hits the 1st, "the grass was greener" faces get interesting!
@@amygoodson-catlady yes, and "the water flowing" at the end!! Perfection!!
Or......
There's nothing quite like the og Nightwish sound - Marco + Tarja.
The third singer (middle singer) Annette Olson has a more pop sound. I started listening to Nightwish with Tarja and like her the best. Tarja did Ghost Love Score at this same concert and it’s great too.
More Tarja: "The Siren" or "Ever dream" same gig
If you want to check out Anette: "Sahara" live from Exit 2008 or "Amaranth" official Video. If you wanna hear jazzy Nightwish with Anette: "Slow love slow" live (it's really cool)
I think I like Scaretale best. It really fits Anette's voice and when Floor sings it, it's just not the same.
@@DC88_ Slow Love Slow doesn't suit Floor either, she doesn't sound as sweet and feminine.
There was an acoustic version of Nemo by Anette that I really liked, and a live presentation of Meadows of Heaven.
Tarja sounds so epic, Ever Dream is one of my favorites, I also miss her darkness in Romanticide.
Tarja's ability to sing never held Nightwish back.
I love Tarja, i loved NW so much but i stoped hearing their newer stuff cause i was so dissapointed with the new singers... NW without Tarja isn't NW anymore.
If you like n
Nightwish check within temptation as well
Floor is nightwish right?
Of course all 3 are amazing 🤣
But Marko.... He is the best ❤️
BTW, Tarja has a pretty awesome solo career now, worth checking it out.
13:52 yep. It's all about live versions. Album is like a manual for fans that they know what to sing when they see this super band.
To me Tarja is the only Nightwish vocalist!!
We all shed tears listening to this song the first time from its awesomeness.
The Nemo version with Tarja is way better than Floors. Dont get me wrong I adore Floor but many Nightwish songs are more suited for Tarja.
This whole concert is amazing. Here is the link: ruclips.net/p/PLexzLA11Cst2704XTYLt7QPK0LLexdG4P
Nightwish has a very large catalogue. The group's first work was recorded by its founders: Tuomas, Emppu and Tarja. It's an acoustic demo from 1996.
Usually people suggest the live performances, which are really wonderful, but if you stick to them, you'll never know many wonderful songs.
I will list the band's studio discography, specifying the corresponding vocalists:
1 - Original demo (1996) - Tarja
2 - Angels fall first (1997) - Tarja - this would be the band's second demo, but it became their first album.
3 - Oceanborn (1998) - Tarja
4 - Wishmaster (2000) - Tarja
5 - Over the Hills and far away (2001) - Tarja - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings
6 - Century Child (2002) - Tarja
7 - Once (2004) - Tarja
8 - Dark Passion Play (2007) - Anette
9 - Made in Hong Kong (2009) - Anette - this is an EP with some new songs and some live recordings
10 - Imaginaerum (2011) - Anette
11 - Endless forms most beautiful (2015) - Floor
12 - Human. :II: Nature. (2020) - Floor
I would like to suggest the song "Underneath".
I can recommend that you also react to "High Hopes" from the same concert (with Marko as lead singer):
ruclips.net/video/4oEDnVeYYyM/видео.html
So.... now you've met Tarja :)
She is a suberbly talented vocalist, classically trained, the main reason the fans go crazy over Floor is her ability to perform a wide variety of styles without missing a beat.

Tarja and walking in the air or Nemo by her
There is this journey what is happening, because new fans always starts with Ghost Love Score.
You describe the new fan journey exactly. Floor GLS is the key, or should it be battering ram, which opens the door to the whole Nightwish experience.
This performance still feels quite "fresh" after 17 years... 😉👍
Neat reaction män with all the enthusiasm involved in it.
Cheers from Finland 🇫🇮 🥶 💯 💙
Love seeing people watching Tarja for the first time, she is the true Queen of symphonic metal. 🇫🇮👑,
Also remember Tarja was only in her 20s when this was recorded, Tarja has just got better and better, her and Marco were a fantastic duet together. Look at Tarjas so stuff.
please , please react to Nightwish - fantasmic with Tarja
That tear at the end says it all. Bring. Her.Back. (Floor is good, but Taarja/the entire synergy here) can not be threatened by anything.
I love the Pharao Sails to Orion (From Wishes to Eternity concert)
and Slaying the Dreamer or Wishmaster from End of an Era, so great!
Best version EVER!
This is how i felt in January 1997. Its freaking amazing. And still magic.
From this same concert....End of an era 2005 .... You should check out The Siren....will blow your mind yet again....enjoy.
For Anette (the other vocalist) Amaranth, Bye Bye Beautiful are great.
of course... i saw your jaws in the floor, great reaction, another great song between Tarja and Marko is *the siren* check it out
