I love Tarja's voice. If you want to hear more of Nightwish recorded with her there is a lot to hear. Of the 9 studio albums, 5 were recorded with her. Tarja also has a very good solo career as well. If you want to check it out, I suggest the song "Supremacy" initially, a live performance recorded at Woodstock in 2016.

For me, Nightwish with Tarja was my first true love in music. When she left the band, it broke my heart so much that I stopped listening to them because every song hurt. I distanced myself completely. This year I found out that they had gotten their 3rd singer. It had been so long that I decided it would be okay to listen to what this "new" singer was all about, and it felt like meeting my first love again after a decade. We were still the same people, but changed with age...and I fell in love again.
Yeah, kinda went for me the same way. Nightwish without Tarja was just not Nightwish anymore, especially since Anette was such a crass difference, and frankly made the whole band sound kinda generic. After that I stopped listening to Nightwish entirely, even the old stuff, and dived into other symphonic metal bands like Epica, who definitely felt a good amount of growth during that time. Floor is a better fit than Anette imo, but I can't say that I can go back to them. But at least I can check some reactions out and see how others feel about one of their greatest moments in their bands history.
Tarja was our original goddess :) I heard Nightwish for the first time when they released their second album Oceanborn, I was immediately just blown away by the perfect blend of metal, symphony and operatic voice, fell in love with the band instantly. When I listened to them loudly in my car or in my house with the open windows people would approach the car or yell from the street asking what is that playing, I never ever experienced something like with any other music in my life, no matter the genre :) I went to 3 Nightwish Tarja era concerts in my life, 2 of them required 1000km driving in one direction, that's how much I loved them. I even have a picture with her in the tour bus. So when Tuomas and the band released the statement they are parting ways with her it was absolutely devastating, I just couldn't believe it, like all other fans. It was very sad, and when we heard that more pop rock style singer Anette is going to replace her it was even more devastating, cause it was clear all the songs made up to that point would now sound like shit live :( Anyway Anette was ok singer on 2 albums she did with the band, but there was no way she could do the old stuff. When Nightwish parted ways with her in the middle of the tour to team up with Floor it was fantastic news cause finally all those legendary old songs could sound great again. But I don't see anything controversial in mentioning and talking about Tarja or Anette, both of them were great in their own way, of course, Tarja much more so, she was amazing diva and will always have special place in the hearts of us OG Nightwish fans :) Here is one song that you should react to from the Anette era, Scaretale. She is fantastic there and this is one of the craziest Nightwish songs, you just have to hear it: ruclips.net/video/rnYrscO5eN8/видео.html

Amazing reaction! Thank you very much TempleMusicAcademy! Tarja Turunen was the original Nightwish vocalist for almost a decade, defining a big part of their sound with her classically infused vocal techniques which combined perfectly with Nightwish's inicial power metal and later symphonic metal sound, and also with Marco's vocals, as you noticed it was a perfect match in every way! The great thing is that Tarja has been having an amazing solo career in the last 15 years... Her voice is really high (her last note on this one is an Eb6), but also a full and really powerfull sound (and in her career she always keeps on experimenting new things with her vocals, including a haunting dark and lower register she can belt out), plus having this theatrical presence on stage... I'm really glad you liked it! I'm not saying anything about who's the best, I'm only saying that I loved Tarja's era and the next day from that recording (I was watching this live) I woke up to my dad rushing to my room with newspaper how Tarja was kicked out. Since that day Nightwish haven't been Nightwish for me, I love few of their compositions after Tarja left but they lack this overly majestic voice which Nightwish was created for.

Welcome to Nightwish's first singer Tarja! Please react to "Walking in the air" live from the "Wishes to Eternity" concert and "Wishmaster" and The Siren" from "End of an Era". Great reaction and keep them coming!!!
Tarja Turunen é uma cantora com voz e performance extraordinária e inigualável!! Amo Tarja, a verdaira voz de Nigthwish... Ela e Marco... Uau!! Vozes que se casam perfeitamente!!! Tarja é surreal!!
such an incredibly difficult song to sing too..in the beginning of her career, she was very hard put to do it and according to her, Tuomas showed no sympathy...
This was a legendary performance. This show was the last show of Tarja in Nightwish, that's why it was released on a DVD called "End of an Era". Controversy aside (you can read about it on your own, basically she was fired through an open letter), this show is fantastic and a great showcase of this part of Nightwish story as well as Tarja as a singer. Sounds incredible that they produced this while the relationship with Tarja was so broken. She was really great in this kind of "operatic" tone. Then it came Annette who was practically the opposite (more standard "pop" voice) and really struggled with the old songs, but they released 2 very good and successful albums with her (The Poet and the Pendulum was in the first of them). However she couldn't keep up with the live shows and the hard schedule of touring, and eventually left the band mid tour. Another small controversy there, since she got sick and wanted the band to cancel but the band called Floor to replace her for the time instead. The rest is story, Floor was so good at both Tarja songs and Anette songs, and the chemistry with the rest of the band was so good, that she became permanent member after that tour. Anyway, I like to have the approach of not comparing who is better, since everyone has been important. One could have a preference for a certain singer but there's no need to have angry arguments or disrepect the others.
As far as I remember they did not call Floor right away, but in that Denver concert in 2012 they asked the two singers of Camelot I believe) Alyssa (now Arch Enemy) and Elise to step in, and also they Audience if they want this or to cancel.
@@kavalor6488 Yeah that is correct. It's part of the documentary. After that Anette returned for a show, but afterwards they split because of that disagreement.
Nightwish is and will always be incredible because, beyond the evident talent of each member, Nightwish's music is what reigns supreme, tuomas's mind and sense of belonging .. what is that sense of belonging for me? Nightwish never gave up beauty and love of music, the simple fact of fighting in the middle of a storm when Tarja left, to be able to resurface as if it were a phoenix, makes this band something truly magical, something that is not. . just about talent .. Nightwish is predestined to be a legendary band, and as the years go by I hope it becomes more appreciated, no matter how public it is .. that people really open their eyes to the talent of this band ... They they just don't get old, every year they get better ... like a good wine!
Dude.. WE ARE ALL IN LOVE WITH MARKO! It is called charisma and just being awesome! I performed as phantom myself a few years back and I would have loved to have done something more than this :P Thanks for this reaction!
Phantom was the first play my mother took me too and I've adored Opera ever since. I briefly sang opera in high school until my voice just couldn't handle the demand of it anymore but God its so beautiful.
I knew this one would be coming eventually. Thank you for reacting (as always) I knew you'd appreciate this one. Always enjoy watching your videos. Much respect! 👌👍
This was the first video I saw and heard of Nightwish. I came across it while watching Lindsey Sterling playing violin in her Phantom of the Opera. Nightwish was my favorite cover of this song, and for what ever reason I didn't search out other songs. My next experience of Nightwish was Ghost Love Score 2013 Wacken open air concert. As the saying goes the rest is history as I acquired many CDs and DVDs over the years. Great reaction, always enjoy your Nightwish reactions.
at a you tube suggestion, and my appreciation for "Phantom", i clicked, this was my very first exposure to Night Wish,, never had heard of them,,. this blew me away! and in the top right came a Ghost Love Score link..naturally i went for it. the opening to GLS was intense then the figure in the shadow appeared and,, OH!! thats not the singer i saw,, by Floors third line i was already in tears,, so,, yeah,, right down the rabbit hole,,
I’m happy you gave Tarja so nice credits for her excellent singing. Tarja and Floor should not be compared, they are very different but great in their own ways. Cheers!👌🥂🌼
@@Heikki_Finland NW have changed the singers sure but, however, they've never replaced Tarja! It's 2020 and people still talk about Tarja when it comes to NW. This is not the idea of replacing someone hahaha. This just shows how huge her impact was. Not just on NW also to music industry and history. She colored the perfect compositions and lyrical masterpiecees into a mystic and unique aura that no one will ever be able replace. With Floor the have a perfect vocalist now and they're still be the best metal band. However, with Tarja they had a unique artist and where the best and most unique metal band. Don't get me wrong I love Floor but I still adore Tarja. There is huge difference between a well skilled vocalist like Floor and a vocal artist like Tarja. The artist creates the vocalist reflects and Tarja literally wrote music history with NW, Floor however is perfect to reflect Tarjas creations. That's why a lot of fans likes Floor. She brings back a part of something NW should have never let go. Think about it.
Nice reaction! I love Nightwish since 2005 when they hit my country with Nemo. I've never stopped listening to their music even after Tarja left the band. To me, every singer had its moments with their different styles and I loved them all! My favorite Nightwish albuns are Century Child, Imaginaerum and Human Nature, one with each singer. Nightwish is my lifetime passion and will aways be.
I am 35 and have been listening to Nightwish sense i was 17, thank you for the kindness and respect you show for them, subbing for sure and i will be around for now on lol.
Thanks for reacting to this version of Nightwish and their 'Phantom'. I would never have thought that 'Phantom' could be so successfully transformed into heavy metal rock. Amazing!! ...oh, and really, really good too...;
I am a here two days too late but your pointers about their techniques made me improve my own singing significantly. I find it really easy to do vibrato but after the pointer about the wider mouth it became as if it was my second nature. Thank you very much for great commentary! (I call myself a "parrot vocalist) because I can copy most sounds in singing after hearing them once or twice so that's why these pointers helped so much, I somewhat couldn't nail it before)
Love your reactions, sir. I just reacted to this one and had the same response to Marco. He is a beast with a crazy voice. Tarja impressed, of course and it was great to finally hear her sing. You are a fellow music nerd and I love the cool stuff you draw out from each performance. Best of luck with your channel.
Makeup story by TARJATROLL ! This is how you do it ! Im a first Tarja fan, BUT NOW NOT ANYMORE, after starting to hear songs by Floor, she is TRULY THE VERY BEST!!!!😮😀👍👍👍👍
Yeah, as other people have mentioned (particularly in this era) a LOT of people described Tuomas as looking like captain Jack sparrow, with the way he dresses, and his physicality. Another thing to note is how old Empuu is here, obviously he's TEARING IT UP. This was filmed on Octover 21, 2005. So he would have been about 27 here. Jukka (on drums) is the same age, and Tuomas is only 2 years older. 15 years makes a BIG difference, but they were obviously a spectacular talent even then!
the doll hanging in Tuomas' keyboard is Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Everyone used to say that Tuomas looked a lot like him so I guess it's like a joke for him
one thing you may want to check out is a song by Nightwish called Dark chest of wonders, and the video has all three of the singers in the video singing. It's a very interesting video.
This is the fifth song in the set, recorded during the last show of the Once Upon a Tour tour at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland on Oct. 21 2005 (The End Of An Era Live DVD was recorded at this concert). This is also the last concert with Tarja (pronounced taR-Ya (w/ a sharp R) as a vocalist, since right after the show she was given THE open letter (You can read it here: nightwish.fandom.com/wiki/Open_Letter_to_Tarja_Turunen) and also the last time NW performed the Phantom live (that might change during their next European tour, since Henk Poort wants to perform it with NW). Anywho, thanks for these reactions TomH
If you wanna see more of Tarja and Marko together, I suggest Beauty Of The Beast. I don't see many people talking about it, but it is an AMAZING experience!
Well done! Yes this is a sensitive subject, but for me Nightwish always has been and always will be the greatest show on Earth. I love all of them equally.
Thank you for mentioning how the different placements they are using actually enhance their harmonies. Usually we hear that people singing together need to place their voices in the same place to sound good together.
Tarja will forever be a crucial part and entwined in my love for Nightwish - because that's how I got to know this band 24 years ago (my god, I'm old af). When she was let go, I stopped listening.. I didn't like Anette. But then came Floor.. and everything was possible again. It was a true rebirth of Nightwish for me. Floor was the missing piece of the puzzle. :)
Yes ...you nail it in the beginning...she founded NW with Tuomas and Emppu and made it possible for NW to get world fame, sound, style and presence. They did demo and five albums with her (1996...2005) but there came some difficulties and actually this is her last concert with NW. This performance of the fine tuned NW style of this song is still the ultimate best by all means...they not just sing but also act the play of Christine and Phantom so well.
The sign behind you that says "surely not everybody was Kung fu fighting." being as high as I was laughed for a good 15mins......before I watched the video. So thanks for giving me multiple forms or entertainment that I'm sure you didn't even plan on.
Nope. She only knew she was fired the next day when she actually read the open letter that motherfuckin tuomas wrote for the whole world to see, such a bitch move. This fucking jacksparrow wannabe is so dirty and disgusting that he couldn’t even had a face to face conversation with her. But everybody knows he always been in love with tarja and just couldn’t handle her beeing with another guy, that’s the real reason she got fired: jealousy.
@@diotenchi ...still love Floor, but starting from the 6th album on, they took a steady slide towards mediocrity and are not even challenging her anymore...

Tarja is unbelievable. Marko has an amazing voice and presence. Totally Awesome.
Happy to see you do this one finally!
You should also do "Planet Hell" with Tarja as well
Marko❤❤
She is so talented. She just nails the end note( D6--- the written original is an E6).
Love the arrangement. Marko kills it on his singing
I love Tarja so much!!
Great reaction, always enjoy your Nightwish reactions.
at a you tube suggestion, and my appreciation for "Phantom", i clicked, this was my very first exposure to Night Wish,, never had heard of them,,. this blew me away! and in the top right came a Ghost Love Score link..naturally i went for it. the opening to GLS was intense then the figure in the shadow appeared and,, OH!! thats not the singer i saw,, by Floors third line i was already in tears,, so,, yeah,, right down the rabbit hole,,
Great vocals by both but Marko is my favorite in this one. That's the way you play the role of The Phantom. Grazy good. The highest note!!!
It's not like it's supposed to be a competition here.
@@Rosannasfriend I'ts just my opinion.
Marko did hit it out of the park. His commitment is always total. The fella's not in the habit of phoning it in.
plase if possible do more nightwish its so amezing
I’m happy you gave Tarja so nice credits for her excellent singing. Tarja and Floor should not be compared, they are very different but great in their own ways. Cheers!👌🥂🌼
Loved it, thanks! For more Marko&Tarja unleashed you should also check Slaying The Dreamer or Planet Hell (both from End of an Era, live). Enjoy!
everyone: who is better Tarja or Floor?
Me: obviously Marco
Love to Tarja, but Floor is beyond comparison as the best fit for my like of the metal sound. Floor rocks it like no other
Tarja was good but also replaced with good results. I feel Marco instead is irreplaceable.
@@Heikki_Finland bad news, you know marko resigned.. shit dude...
@@Zenus_Thenus I didn't see it coming. Last year was bad enough, this one doesn't start very bright either...
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaas, been waiting for this
Great reaction. Love this rendition they did, so powerful.
The bromance with Marko is growing stronger every day
Thanks for reacting to this version of Nightwish and their 'Phantom'. I would never have thought that 'Phantom' could be so successfully transformed into heavy metal rock. Amazing!! ...oh, and really, really good too...;
I had the same reaction ... so good! And Marco is fantastic.
Perfect reaction. You always meet the level. 👍🏽
Loved that we all love Marco thankyou.
I'm glad U enjoyed my favorite Nightwish cover of Phamtom of the Opera Tarja is a amazing singer she has her solo stuff currently

Im a first Floor fan, BUT NOW NOT ANYMORE, after starting to hear songs by TARJA, she was TRULY THE VERY BEST!!!!😮😀👍👍👍👍
Makeup story by TARJATROLL !
This is how you do it !
Im a first Tarja fan, BUT NOW NOT ANYMORE, after starting to hear songs by Floor, she is TRULY THE VERY BEST!!!!😮😀👍👍👍👍
The DAW someone said that is by the orchestra of London if I remember well
Yeah, as other people have mentioned (particularly in this era) a LOT of people described Tuomas as looking like captain Jack sparrow, with the way he dresses, and his physicality.
Everyone used to say that Tuomas looked a lot like him so I guess it's like a joke for him
And it is only 5th song from 18 and band was spectacular all concert
one thing you may want to check out is a song by Nightwish called Dark chest of wonders, and the video has all three of the singers in the video singing. It's a very interesting video.
prime marco is without a doubt one of the best vocalists in history. He is very underrated.
Anywho, thanks for these reactions
TomH
If you wanna see more of Tarja and Marko together, I suggest Beauty Of The Beast. I don't see many people talking about it, but it is an AMAZING experience!
Loved your reaction! Love Phantom and Nightwish. The doll is a Captain Jack Sparrow doll, I think.
Well done! Yes this is a sensitive subject, but for me Nightwish always has been and always will be the greatest show on Earth. I love all of them equally.
thanks for up te volume
Thank you for mentioning how the different placements they are using actually enhance their harmonies. Usually we hear that people singing together need to place their voices in the same place to sound good together.
Webbers favorite cover.
Your the first expert I heard comment on her jaw moving from relaxation. I always noticed it but never knew technically what was going on.
The Phantom is supposed to be a dangerous animal. Thats why this is the best rendition
Thanks!!!
Tarja Turunen is perfect
Tarja will forever be a crucial part and entwined in my love for Nightwish - because that's how I got to know this band 24 years ago (my god, I'm old af). When she was let go, I stopped listening.. I didn't like Anette. But then came Floor.. and everything was possible again. It was a true rebirth of Nightwish for me. Floor was the missing piece of the puzzle. :)
Tarja has several performances of The Phantom she has done with other male vocalists. Check them out, you will not regret the time spent.
This is Tarjas last show, she gets fired the moment they walked of stage.
Nope. She only knew she was fired the next day when she actually read the open letter that motherfuckin tuomas wrote for the whole world to see, such a bitch move. This fucking jacksparrow wannabe is so dirty and disgusting that he couldn’t even had a face to face conversation with her. But everybody knows he always been in love with tarja and just couldn’t handle her beeing with another guy, that’s the real reason she got fired: jealousy.
and nightwish is no more
@@corections5068 oy man, they been touring and releasing many albums, you should check the news
@@corections5068 except they are, bigger and better than ever!
@@diotenchi ...still love Floor, but starting from the 6th album on, they took a steady slide towards mediocrity and are not even challenging her anymore...
Tuomas, Tarja and Emppu formed Nightwish in highschool 1996! I allways fellt Tarja was more a 5th instrument rather then a singer in their old albums
"what's the dude on his keyboards" lmao I love it
Tarja is for me THE best singer Nightwish had... everyone else seems to love Floor, but for me it will always be Tarja.... She has the best voice of them all.
Marco is just plain epic!
He says "All rise" at the end. :)
