Hey your videos are definitely awesome!! I'm trying to rebuild a d16y5 with d16y8 head then turbo. I've never done this before and I'm learning all I can before I attempt to pull my engine. Thanks for the help
Hi, I don't know the Y5 motor, but it is a vtec-e, meaning it already have a P2J cylinder head, exact same cast as a Y8 head, (some say you can just swop out the cam+rockers to make a vtec-e to normal vtec) this is good because it will be a easy straight fit bolt on, "no mods needed" apart from the ecu as a vtec-e ecu triggers vtec at a different rpm, also it works a bit different so you will need some form of tunable ECU. here is some things to keep in mind, make sure the block does not have weird hi-comp pistons (it should not). make sure the head you are using has the big intake ports and thick valve springs (never use a PO7 head), get head studs if you can, Dseries love to lift heads under boost. don't run aggressive timing under boost. get 7 heat range spark plugs. don't make more than 220whp and you should be just fine.
The other mount is for a B series, the hole in the side is for the power steering pump bracket to bolt up to, I ran into the same problem today but the opposite way around, b series came out of ef and went into an eg but discovered the issue with the mount when fitting power steering pump bracket
@@RisingBoostYT yeah man I think it’s just a difference in the b and d series mounts, the information on the key way was very interesting because I had to change the distributor and when timing it the crank pulley TDC mark was not actually TDC it was about 20 degrees after in relation to the the piston actually being at TDC so the pulley seems to be in the wrong position which would make sense if the keyways can give trouble, keep up the good work man
@@sleepwalker8600 Awesome Bro, glad it was helpful! yeah the bolt could hold the pully in place without a key but yes it could have moved the pully out of position during fitment.
Hi Pete, I found it on Aliexpress only, it was not listed as skunk2 and I'm not sure of it is still available. You should be able to fine the PW JDM ones, the Bseries will not work, it has to be for D16.
Hi Roxas, sadly no, my extra one has broken tabs on the back side making it useless as it must sit in the correct place in order for the timing marker to be in the correct spot. I see you found one on amazon, just make sure it is correct, the EF/EG motor has a slightly different one as the EK has the dipstick tube attaching to the cover and the older one does not.

Hi, Yes the head will fit. some vtec-e motors have the exact same P2J cylinder head cast, meaning if you can find a Y8 head "valve train" you could just swop that over and have a normal vtec head. the P07 heads have a small valve/runner eco cast and cant make much power. just check your compression ratio to be sure it won't be too high or to low.
