IMPORTANT:
The section on race choice was not researched thoroughly enough. My bad! Please see Russell's comment below for a correction which I checked out to verify and can confirm!
Isn't chastity holy though? It could definitely be a thing for disc, but could remain situational for shadow.
Yeah, though it's probably more than Alliance races don't have much to be hyped about PvP-wise for priest. Especially with Blind becoming physical in 2.3.
@@KnotxD Thats not true. Alliance priests are better than horde priests in PvP. Dwarf is better than both Troll and UD.
And also, fear ward will be available for all races in classic TBC since we will 99% likely be going with 2.4.3 talents like in classic wow.
You can see night elves with starshards parsing much higher than other priests on private servers since they get an extra DOT into their rotation.
TL;DR Night Elf priest is BIS race for alliance PvE.
In PvP you also said that it's dwarf and UD only because of fear defensives, even if they were to go with 2.0.1 talents, then Draeneis would also have FW.
Trolls are very good in Arena aswell against many comps, especially if you do the SS-lock/Spriest comp that will be very popular. You get extra dmg with shadow shield and also a mortal strike effect that can help you win against healing comps. Tbh feels like you didn't do any research on race subject other than reading some outdated guide.
@@shoobror8291 For sure, in hindsight it was clear I needed to do more on the race topic and as such this was improved in subsequent videos (at least IMO).
I hope you can gather from the earlier comments that I'm fully aware I dropped the ball on that section. I can only say that I've improved it imo and will continue to try be as accurate as possible. I value the feedback always!
Fearward has every priest in TBC! Lasts 3mins with 3min cd
Which is quite unfair from a dwarf priest perspective since all other races just keep their racials...
Only at patch 2.3 so depending on the patch progression it might not be
Does that mean that dwarfs get 2 fearwards?
@@trillu7163 nope
Actually dwarf priests get desperate prayer
Drums of War are a symbol of the Leatherworking class.
is there a bis list for shadows around?
Night Elf got Starshards which is very good dot and its not charged cast like in classic so its awesome + other spell 20% miss chance. Especially good for PVP
with the darkness talent, if it shows that i have 977 bonus damage does that mean i have 1,075 bonus damage in actuality?
One thing to keep in mind is that threat is quite an issue with shadow priest, especially early on in t4/t5. Because of this, vampiric embrace isn't really part of the main rotation and is more of a situational spell to use when you know it won't put you at risk of overaggroing.
Whether in dungeons or raids if you VE right of the bat on every mob you're gonna have a really bad time. The instances where I find myself using VE are normally when enough threat has been built up on a mob where I am safe to do so and group wide healing would be beneficial, one example that comes to mind is phase 1 of magtheridon when dpsing down the adds, they have aoe that does heavy raid wide damage and I found it useful to VE the X target (2nd kill target) once it reached around 50% HP. Another example would be using VE on lurker because he will only attack/target people in melee range. As for dungeons, I almost never use VE unless the tank somehow has a significant threat lead on a boss.
Do you use VTouch on cooldown on all mobs?
@@Jive33 Yes, VT is your most core DPS ability due to the mana battery it provides to you and your party. You basically always keep up VT (And SWP) in any situation of 4 or less mobs, as long as the target isn't going to die within a few seconds and mana isn't an immediate concern.
Because of the mana return it provides it's one of the last abilities you cut out when you are low on mana.
In case you're wondering, If you are very low on mana and don't have any mana CDs available, the first set of abilities you take out of your ST rotation are SWD and MB, and just VT + SWP + MF until your mana is less of an issue.
@@future9329
Is the constant refreshing of VT annoying? I mean you have to re apply it every 15 seconds.
@@future9329 and the cast time sucks. Too bad it isn’t instant like VE is.
@@Jive33 I don't find refreshing dots annoying at all. Makes the rotation feel active with different things going on, between keeping up dots, using MB and SWD and MF as filler you always have a button to press and I love how engaging it is compared to one button specs
Great video again!
Is it hard to gear up a shadow priest for pvp? If heard mage has a lot to do to get gear... how about pvp arena shadow priest? Any idea?
For PvP, given that we have 2.4.3 patch/gearing, I think it will be pretty straight forward. You'll want the blue honor set for resilience etc and the epic off-pieces, again from BGs. Then you'll be mostly set to enter arena. You might wanna farm some trinkets/weapon from PvE but nothing too crazy. At least thats my understanding of what the live client will have available early on.
PvE is the main source of expense for Shadow and Mages. The tailoring stuff is really nice but not cheap!
@@KnotxD thx a lot :) still dont know if i should go frost mage or shadow priest for arenas :D
what about the super sapper charge there is no place for it? is enchanting that much better?
At the time of creating this, the drums nerf was unknown, and drums share CD with super sappers. Super sappers are good for speedrunning.
Everything was excellent accept you didn't put in Aldor or Scryer unless I missed it?!? Please let me know your thoughts.
Aldor is better overall unless you're desperate to have access to the pattern for Runic Spellthread, because Aldor gives the pattern for the healing variant. The spellthreads themselves are BoE, but I know some people like having access to all patterns that benefit them.
There are 2 types of players, the player that care about toping dps against a non living thing, and the people that care about destroying other players life and existence, im the second type of player
You can do both if you roll Warlock
@@yogapaule Mind control pls
Honestly I see a lot of people say only use mind blast and shadow word death very sparingly. But I'm at the bottom 10% gear wise(parse) I still am able to use them off CC. But I also have the heart of hakkar trinket still which boosts my mana regeneration from my pet. My mana pool when buffed is around 10k with a major mage blood. My pet will return about 7 to 8.5k mana. (Without the tier 1 set bonus)
I'm 99% sure spirit tap is not worth it for pve.
The chances of you getting the final blow on a raid mob, triggering the spirit tap proc, is quite low.
Would probably be better to lower MB CD, getting silence for utility or shadow hit.
How come JC is stronger then Enchanting pre-black temple? what happens after black temple, didnt get that one.?
From then there are epic gems for all, which makes the JC-exclusive gem especially tiny in difference. Eg. Blue healing gem is 18, then you can get 22 healing via epic gems from Black Temple onwards, whilst the JC exclusive gem is 26 healing. So JC would give you an even smaller amount of bonus from that single JC gem you get as an exclusive.
@@KnotxD Ohh got it, thank you for the answer :D
Ty for the video
In tbc on season 3 was a rogue and a shadow priest rank 1 :)
It is possible
Nice dude! Thanks for the good vibes, good luck on the repeat in classic!
Tailor is special good, u can take enchanting ang get ur rings enchanted aswell, for pure dmg
You missed the race specific priest abilities. Shadow guard for trolls can proc black out, vampiric embrace, shadow weaving etc., so you could potentially stun someone and heal yourself by only having it active. The damage also increases with your spell power. For these reasons, along with berseking for pve, I think troll is the best spriest race for PvE and PvP consistency.
You're right, in trying to brief I missed some key information. You may well be right regarding Troll being more consistent over UD for PvP, thanks for adding that contribution!
Not only that, having a lesser mortal strike effect when primarly playing with casters sounds nutty.
But devouring plague can also proc blackout ? And it might be a better ability for 2's where you focus the healer . Lets not forget TBC will be full of undead warlocks so having an extra WoTf in arena could be a dealbreaker .
@@purplenight3655 devouring plague costs almost 1200 mana and is easily dispelled
@@KM-uc8jq Ok,i was looking from an arena perspective where the most common enemies are warlocks, rogues, mages, druids and warriors and noone of them can dispel it .
Troll ftw. Shadowguard op since it procs shadow weaving making it stack faster and blackout. It also scales super good with SP. And having a cheap ranged 20% healing reduction is nothing to scuff at. Troll wins both for pve and pvp imo. Sure dev plague is nice, more dots good right? Sadly it pales in comparrison to shadowguard. Other priests and paladins will be dispelling dev plague asap. Shadowguard has so many uses. Imagine a rogue opening up on you just to get blackout stunned right away
Yeah, the more I see of Shadowguard on beta, the more I tend to side with trolls. Even for Disc, Shadowguard looks really good.
Wouldn’t a Spacegoat Shadow Priest for alliance be far superior? Inspiring Presence and Symbol of Hope for the group.
In terms of raw output from the individual, I guess. But Alliance-side only has Draenei shamans, so every group has a draenei providing Inspiring presence if everything is 'correct.'
That said, Symbol of Hope isn't bad though its kind of a duplicate effect. Either way, I guess in personal output regardless of composition, yeah I think you're right. In terms of the 'meta' - not sure it matters either way.
Pre-2.3 you'd take space goat for the same reason you said to take Dwarf - fear ward.
Night elves probably do the highest damage on Alliance with starshards being an instant cast dot for 0 mana. I think it's 15s on a 30s CD.
Loving the guides though, great work!
@@waffles3782 Thanks for the kinds words and the contribution! I'm glad when I don't have a great answer that others are stepping up and providing what they know!
@@waffles3782 @knot Also trying to figure out the best PVE race choice on alliance atm, and the Nelfs starshards seem to be arcane damage, which would certainly be a dps decrease to include this in your rotation since so much of the shadow priests pre raid bis is purely +shadow damage (FSW set, badge of justice OH, cloaks etc). It's also relevant to know, that if starshards is arcane damage, it will not provide mana/health from abilities to the group.
Do you know if there's been any testing done on the private servers regarding this?
Best pve alliance race choice is nightelf, cause of starfall is another dot in tbc. And every priest has fearward in tbc.
Yes, unfortunately I made an error in the race section, totally my bad. The pinned comment thread has a clarification
@@KnotxD just saying. Ur still a nice guy :)
@@Kenny23235 haha its all good! Mistakes are made, always appreciate the feedback and contributions!
How you gonna fit star shards into rotation
@@imqsqs its an instant dot in tbc
My guild used me as their mama battery - fbc holds the best wow memories for me, I cant wait to get back there
Night elf is the best shadow priest for alliance due to the rework of starshards. It's straight-up a free dps boost.
Indeed, race section was scuffed on this one hence why I pinned the comment above - thanks for pointing it out though, its important!
UNDEAD PRIEST is only one with Devouring Plague for extra DPS.
Nightelf get star shards the increase mana consumption of devouring plague and considerable low damage is not as optimal tbh undead is cool though and my prefer choice lol
@@limacrap DP is still a DPS increase
Troll or Undead?
If you play both PVE and PvP, I think Troll might be the play. Purely PvP it's closer, I'm not sure which I best in that scenario.
@@KnotxD Ye, i've been struggling with this question a lot. From what i've gathered, UD is better in 2vs2 whereas Troll shines in 3vs3. I really wanna play as UD due to looks but damn, it's hard to not pick disgusting troll haha.
People don't seem to be aware of this but Elune's Grace goes from DODGE to MISS chance in TBC. Think about that against warriors... MISS! > No Overpower.
Fear ward is baseline
Leather working is dead, all hail enchanting
Not putting 5/5 in shadow weaving seems like a waste of a sPriest slot, raid dps is the most important thing.
Naw having 5/5 for shadow weaving is pointless and a waste. Even with bad rng for the proc you only lose 2-3 seconds at the start of the fight and that’s it. After that the debuff stays up the whole time as it lasts for 15 seconds and you are always attacking. The only time the debuff would fall off is when it’s litteraly impossible to attack the boss. Even when you have to focus adds, the shadow priest should spam a rank 1 mind flay on the boss when the timer is about to be up to refresh it then go back to the adds.
let's be honest... if you want focus on pvp in tbc go rogue...
