Never spec out of shadow, if you do it once they'll expect it every time
You convinced me to roll Priest main again when Blizzard releases new Fresh Realms! It really is an S-Tier class in Classic alongside Mages. The overall experience is so rewarding. Questing? No problem, Shadow is amazing. Dungeons? Please come and heal. Raids? Please come and heal. PvP? One of the best healers there are, Shadow is in a league of its own as well. Not much left to be desired. Great class!

Im playing main holy priest in raids but since there are so many leftovers in the end I started picking up gear for my SP gear now guild is not having problem of giving me SP gear even in early days of AQ40, so casually im runnning SP in raids and mostly on off raid days (yeh spending huge amount of gold on respecc but priest is so fun class to play at only one spec) nice vid, cannot wait for tbc gotta turn my SP into mana battery :D
Been Shadow for all of classic, found a great guild with a raid slot as Shadow and killed KT this week. Even did Anathema quest line as shadow :)
Gear has been a struggle, but in AQ I got full Tier2.5 that is amazing damage and mana regen.
I don't PVP a huge amount, but play on a PVP server, so managed to come up with a raid spec that includes Silence.

Ive been shadow since the beginning of classic. Its been an interesting and somewhat frustrating journey. Ive run into it all: guilds that wanted me to heal, leave off SWP for the debuff slot, wait months on gear since i was "lower prio than mages/locks", and had teams that had no idea how to manage debuffs. At the end of the day, I love my spriest and Im not goin anywhere. You just need to find a guild/raid team that wants a real spriest and is willing to make debuff lists and will value you as they do any member of the raid. Pro tip, if you feel like you need a little leverage, just tell the locks your leaving and let them fight your in-guild battles for you >:)

@@ExpiryTV absolutely, really enjoy your videos, not a lot of good spriest info out there. Any chance we could get a few strat videos for some of the tougher fights? Haven't found too many breakdowns on how to approach certain fights as a spriest. I've hit 95+ parses on most of the fights, but not consistently and I cant figure out what I'm doing differently. I'm worried it's a bit of accidental success lol.

I'd say Vestments of the Oracle qualifies as shadow/pvp set. I just got my 5 of 5 for T2.5 with BWL/AQ40 fillers and feels pretty damn solid as a set for shadow priest and smite spec. Actually feels better for smite spec than the rank 14 gear because of the Mp5 and spirit (which I had in vanilla). You are right though, you do have a lot of choice when gearing and personally i'm more a stat junky over a min maxer that focuses only +dmg and has a garbage mana pool requiring constant consumable use.
I'm currently spec'd as a Disc Shadow weaver 21/5/25 because I'm going to be the priest in charge of MCing the adds for Razuvious in Naxx and our Locks finally have enough resistance to go back to SM Ruin for Twin emps ,so the weaving will crank up their damage which they are excited for :P. Evidently, it's really good pvp spec because its incredibly close to the tri spec run for teams.
I too spend a gross amount of gold respeccing my Priest and Druid, might have to stop that until i get all my T3 materials :O
Oracle is incredibly fun for smite spec or shadow pvp/pve, currently sitting at 4/5 myself. The spell pen is nice, but you do lose a considerable amount of stamina and armor. For PvP melee matchups, I think R12/13 is ideal, but you can mix and match gear to your playstyle/preference.
I've been running 31/20 Disc/Holy my last few raids to min/max clear times and its been a challenging but fun transition. For PvP in Naxx, I think I'll probably run full shadow and just solo wPvP with the occasional BG, I like that loner playstyle lol.
Sitting on all the T3 mats in the bank trying to farm gold for consumes; Naxx is going to be expensive and I'm raiding on two toons also! Thanks for the comment and for watching! :D

Do You have any suggestion to improve dps before getting that hard bis items? In mc and bwl?
How important is to cap 16% spell hit un raids? Which boss need 16%? And which Don't?
Can a SP do decent dmg in AQ?
Do your ZGs and Ony raids on reset, 5-man dungeons for gear, and BWL/MC every week. Find a guild that you can grow with! Analyze your raid performance and work on getting items to improve your weak areas...if you go oom too fast on boss fights, get some more Int/mp5, if your damage is low but mana is fine, work on %spell hit and spell damage. Farm gold for consumes. Improve your spell rotation and raid spec. Spell hit is important, but so is damage - try to get 16% if you can. I currently am running 13% spell hit, will have 15% for AQ40, the sacrifice of stats/dmg for more hit I didn't think was worth it for the way my guild functions. Hopefully SP does decent dmg in AQ40, you can watch me raid it live on my twitch! twitch.tv/expirytv

Silence is such an amazing ability in PvP and even 5-mans, but you are right, there isn't much room for it in raid especially with threat mitigation talents being so helpful! Thanks for the comment!
Gear sets for shadowpriests: Blue and purple pvp set, and tier 2,5 from AQ40 😁
After comparing R12/13 gear to the AQ T2.5, I've decided to aim for off-pieces and save DKP for Naxx gear while other classes who need upgrades use the tokens. In almost every case it is a break-even gear swap, not necessarily an upgrade, unless you have full PvE armor BiS which I don't have. The Warlord PvP gear is surprisingly viable in PvE. AQ set has dmg on it, so although it doesn’t have great dps bonuses, they’re still useful.
100% agree! I will be going for the AQ 2.5 Helm/Chest for my PvE set.
@@ExpiryTV It's arguably better than the pvp set too.
R12,13 Gear has more stam and spell power, improved fear but is a 6 piece set vs. 2.5 which is a 5 piece set and has more spirit plus some neat stats like spell pen and crit, and more mp5. Tough to say, I will definitely be testing both out!

Nice video dude! I have some questions about pvp. Some says that, shadowpriest havent counters. I dont believe that. Rogues they can beat them.ofc if they use their cd's.and in this phase they can break easier their shields. Enha shamans?? What about locks?? ok they dispells the dots and buffs and shields from locks but what happen if they lock have 60 resistance from pet + spelllock ??
Every class in Classic has its strengths and weaknesses and shadow priest is no different. Rogues are a tough but relatively even fight. Shamans can be difficult with their totems, healing and burst. SL warlocks are probably the biggest hard-counter to a spriest with spell-lock, tons of sustain, good CC, and a lot of burst. That's why, if you PvP in Classic, you want a variety of trinkets and different armor pieces to help make unfavorable match-ups a little more even. Eye of Moam vs. Lock helps with the resistance. Burrower's Shell vs. Rogue gives and extra shield. Just a few examples.

I will take this advice into cooperation--- I will roll Taurnem Priest, to scale with my Stamina Buffs.

I have a friend who is thinking about playing classic fresh (I know we don't have too many details on fresh but let's assume the classes will be the same for now)
She is deciding between Mage and Priest, Mage for convenience and Priest for shadow because she thinks it would be cool. She's willing to give up one for the other if necessary, what do you recommend? (For reference she's played some modern WoW over the past few years but played the game more years ago)
I think I at first discouraged her from shadow priest and I kinda felt bad which is why I found your video lol. Not that I said anything mean or anything, just that I worry I may have misunderstood how effective shadow priest can be in battlegrounds and on single target.
She wants to do content, but she wants to do it casually for the most part cause she plays a lot of other stuff hardcore lol. She also doesn't seem interested in healing.
Mage is a stronger straight up DPS caster, whereas Shadow is more of a utility/support caster. Priest can go healer which provides some versatility. Both are great classes and a lot of fun!

For all the ones playing classic era it's worth mentioning shadow falls off compared to other classes as better gear comes in. Shadow benefit less from both spell crit and spell power compared to mages and warlock
im leveling my shadow priest in hopes of TBC coming out. Is it set in stone that TBC is going to come to classic? We can convert characters to TBC from current classic?
No Blizzard blue post about TBC has been formally announced, so everyone who is planning for it, at this point, is doing so off of an assumption.
This is why I couldn’t play classic, because of the politics. I’m a former CE raider and I’ve met horrible players over the years. However, to have a RL say that they can’t afford to have 1 shadow priest in a 40 man raid with 15 year old mechanics is outrageous. Everyone else needs to pick their game up.

Im just curious your thoughts on troll vs undead for horde shadow priest? I'm gunna make an alt to level with my friend who is new to the game, he will be warrior. I don't care about raids or end game content as much, just open world pvp, maybe bg eventually, so don't plan on specing out of shadow. we are playing vanilla classic era. I know dp isn't as useful end game as everyone has an answer to defend, and berserking will only really be useful pve. so it comes down to wotf vs shadowguard
Both versions Troll and Undead have won duel tournaments, can't go wrong with either!
I dont know if you have already picked but I recommend Troll. Shadowguard is actually insane for shadow and hex of weakness is great for bgs.
@@glohkamp I ended up going troll and really enjoy the abilities specifically in pve so far, the shadowguard makes me a tank lol. But im excited to pvp later and see how this does against other players

You said you can use Abolish disease. You also must drop shadowform to even do that. Big mana spenders
Very true Joshua! For PvP you might want consumes to drop disease to save on mana. For fights like Chromaggus, you might just take the role as support dispeller and avoid doing DPS. I like to stack int/mp5 in addition to spell power to help with mana issues, and use lots of mana pots and Dark Runes!

How good is shadow priest during leveling? Can it kill elite mobes in solo?
Very good, yes can solo elites, make sure you have a wand and wand spec.
Id say theyre heavily underrated. I like leveling alts, only recently got into priest and gotta say its a breeze. Others might be a tad stronger but priest survivability and utility is through the roof. Ill gladly trade a bit of kill speed in favor of almost zero downtime and at the same time being able to reliably kill elites, solo groups etc.

I use Spirit Tap talent for leveling and for raiding. Blackout is better for PvP.

This is so Sad. why do no1 see the benefit of 20-30% Healing on the Group. put a Shadowpriest in the Tank group, and the healers have a realy easy Time yo. this is probably the most OP skill shadowpriest has. this healing, lets say u hav eimproved it its 5x30% of his dmg as healing makes 150% healing of his damage. i mostly i beat Discipline healers that way in total healing. I Never respecced to healing for Raid. i did Discipline for Arena, but i always had a Paly for healing. so i never had to.
AQ set is literally for shadow >
Seems T2.5 is more for a Tri-spec hybrid build to me; the set bonuses don't benefit shadow at all and there are many items with more spell damage than the T2.5. May be good for PvP/sustain during long fights and the helm/chest are certainly great pieces; our guild will be prioing the set to classes that benefit more generally speaking, like Warriors and Rogues.

Classic overall lacks a strong talent system, it gets more diverse in future expansions like upcoming TBC xpac especially for hybrid classes.
