100% true you can and should level as shadow. I was able to heal all dungeons up to BRD with 31 shadow and the other points in Disc. But you definitely start to feel the need for better throughput once you reach those dungeons. So, expect to want to respec around 56 or 57 if you want to keep up with healing on higher level dungeons. All you need is spirit tap and wand specialization as you said but you can dump rest points for holy if you want even easier time while healing and better crit chance for holy spells (holy fire into SWP + wanding felt great). Disc tree is fine as well but I would only pick improved SWP in shadow. Everything changes at 40. You respec into full shadow and you destroy healthbars in seconds and wand rest remaining health. I once more seriously recommend this over rank 1 mind flaying. It only costs so much more (in money) to keep your holy fire up until 40 but it has some nice QoL in dungeon healing and you kill things just as fast as with Mind Blast if not a bit faster with some nice crits.

@@Kalattv You probably want to go for a NE Priest for this; Starshards is an insanely efficient mana/damage spell, and deals arcane damage on a 3-second channel. I prefer leveling as holy. Dmg isnt really different, atleast before shadowform. U still use spirit tap and wand, miss out on blackout but doesnt really matter. I level faster as it, but might be that im used to it. Specially later, having to drop shadowform just to get health up costs a lot of mana. Think I'll go lock in classic tho
I'm leveling 21/25/5 with with enchant tailor. I'll go to divine spirit, grab spirit tap, then finish it off with damage oriented holy talents. I think a holy fire and whatever instant cast dots I have at the given level, plus wanding, is plenty of damage. In doing so you barely use any mana and rarely have to drink. And, you can heal the occasional instance or elite quest no problem. Limiting downtime is way more important than damage output during leveling if you ask me, and having enchanting makes you always have a nice wand for free damage. May your blade never dull! see you guys out there on release

Absit Reverentia Vero This seems true in my eyes. I’m 13 years older than my little brother who last week showed me his mage on a private server and I didnt know half of it. So I read up on things and just now learnt there are numerous world buffs which I think I sometimes grabbed one of if I were in the area before a raid. It made me realize there are so much my guild back then didnt know of. I even remember farming this 50 dungeon in the water for high level blues that I used in Molten Core, yet my little brother laughs at me and tells me about must-have gear before entering there. We talked alot about Classic, he really wants me to start playing again, which I will (Even though I’m working 4 weeks on 2 weeks off), but it seems like Classic will be Its own game and not give the same experience as back in the day. I liked the different patches throughout Vanilla and Im just not sure how I will feel when Its being set to the latest patch.
i played as disciplina a little bit, went through dungeons, killing mobs was pretty easy imo, bubble, mind blast into wanding, no downtime, nearly no health lost
You're so right. My best memory of WoW wasn't hitting cap, getting some great piece of gear or kicking some elite ass. It was making a death run on our low level huntards into enemy territory to get specific pets from their lands. It was a case of running, dying, getting a few steps further before dying again to mobs tons of levels higher than us. It took forever, but we got through eventually and tamed our pets. And we felt like kings when we got back home with them!
Hey man, I really love your idea that playing a character that you like as the difference is minute. This is easily one the most wholesome youtube videos I have watched and I'm 100% subscribing BECAUSE you're hella wholesome.
Great video and great spirit. The greatest one is to not let people make you play something you don't want. At that time I was a teenager playing nightelf priest and they made me switch into heal spec for dungeon, I didn't have enough money to respec sp so I ended leveling in heal spec, I finally quit !. So enjoy the game as you want it and by this way you'll become a great player.
Hi thanks for the video. I used to play Vanilla WoW up until the end of TBC and then I left wow until now that they introduced Classic. I will be back and would like to play my original class which is of course Priest. I was Horde and Undead and although just like you I always preferred the Undead animations, but in pvp I was always envious to Trolls for the Shadowguard because of the Blackout procs. In pvp of course I was spamming rank 1 SW:P to the Blackout proc as Undead, but Trolls also have the Shadowguard which was a nightmare for melees. On the other hand the Undead's DP is also very powerful although on a 3 mins CD and uses a boat load of mana or will waste your Inner Focus (which can be used with MB otherwise). I was away from the game for more than a decade so my question is, for pvp (animations and aesthetics aside) why would you pick Undead? WoTF is not that useful as there would not be many locks on the alliance side anyway (again due to the WoTF) and the pvp trinket for priest also dispels fear anyway. DP being a hybrid dmg/heal spell does not really scale well with shadow damage while Shadowguard will scale crazy good as far as I can remember and with BIS gears it does crazy amount of damage per hit (600+ per hit). I guess DP is good for solo world-pvp but Shadowguard is better for group pvp? Also we should not forget that many people know DP is powerful and will dispel it right away. All Dwarves will Stoneform out of it, priests cure it, Paladins will cleanse it away on spam.... So I don't know! Which one would you choose and why? Cheers!
I've leveled as holy dps before and it's absolutely fine. You still have spirit tap and wand specialization, you're just continuing to cast smite instead of switching to mind flay and taking the talents that buff holy damage. You miss out on the slow from mind flay but that's about it pre-40. If being the first priest to hit 60 on the server is not a priority to you I would suggest you play it however you like. From 40 onward I think Shadow has a clear advantage just from the physical damage reduction alone, but Holy DPS is still surprisingly competitive and can even pull fairly average dps in raids under the right conditions, though not in cutting edge play. They synergize with ret paladins similar to how shadow synergizes with warlocks. For instance, it's top dps for Twin Emperors because the magic resistant boss lacks holy resistance thus eliminating the need for movement in an extremely movement intensive fight.
what about going for holy damage (smite, holy fire) until lvl 40 (i.e. before getting shadow form) with wand damage and spirit tap talented ? there are not really all that many good shadow damage spells and talents until lvl 40 ? not to mention that wop:pain usually never runs it full duration on most mobs, meaning it is often a waste of mana ?
I think Troll is better because -20% healing debuff without a cooldown and Shadow orbs which can proc a 3s stun. These are amazing for PvP and PvE if there is a healing mob. Trolls also get 5% damage bonus to beasts which doesn't sound like a lot but Hunter pets and Druid forms are considered beasts. Undead get WotF which is great as Warlocks and Warriors are common, but Cannibalize doesn't restore mana like it does in Live.
@Kala, the statements on picking race I couldn't agree more with. Thanks sharing your thoughts with the community on that. Secondly, the content you shared on leveling guide was insanely valuable for someone who has no idea how to get ahead of the curve. If you have more content on 11-20, 21-30 (expecting significant player drop off past that point within first 2 days) to keep ahead of curve as shadow priest I think we would all highly appreciate it. Subbed.
After the 5 second rule if you continue to not cast you get mana back every 2 seconds. Until you are either full or you cast again and then the process repeats.
Some speed runners prefer warlocks because you can get access to immolate and imp very early on. If you look at the damage values of shadow priest, it’s actually higher than warlock early on. The only difference is that you don’t get DoT until level 4, but after level 4 your DoT is much stronger than immolate. You can also self heal through spells or corpses allowing you to spend more on water instead of food
Just tried a Priest for first time on private server (only class I never played). It's crazy how efficient they are at leveling. I had to drink like 10 times from 1-40.
But isnt spriest gameplay boring compared to say lock or mage? I mean spriest didnt come into their own until tbc with shadow word: death and vampiric touch? Isnt spriest in vanilla too basic?
Great video, super excited for classic to come out! By the way, do you ever look at how many sponsor logos you've got in that tiny picture of yourself and think "man I look like a goober"?
I’ve found that once you get to around 100 spirit you are at 100% mana by your next pull without drinking. I’m currently sitting at 180 spirit and it is ridiculous how fast my mana regens. I have also healed everything as shadow spec at level 30. I’m currently sitting around 50+ healing at lvl 30, and that allows me to downrank pretty effectively. You can get a decent amount of + healing gear so you can drink less by using downranked heals while healing.
great one! Please do more in depth content for the shadow priest both pve and pvp, especially at 60! i will also play a shadow UD priest as a main! Subbed and i'll wait for more, please!
I really needed to hear that opening thank you. Played Human in Vanilla then switched to Blood Elf. Been going back and forth on Undead and Troll. Seems Troll getting a lot of hype because of Shadowguard but at the end of the day I like Undead look better.
you'll have a lot more utility and use out of the priest. Always being able to be a part of a group or raid is pretty important, and you can play more than one role (healer/DPS in both PvP and PvE) but it's only 60 levels, you can have an alt very quickly
I was also wondering how you got shadow gear from raids when you were healing? Or if you were raiding for the shadow gear how did you keep your healing gear current?
@@MrJengaa yeah no shit guy I'm wanting to know how he kept his healing gear current if he was raiding to roll on shadow gear. I'm assuming he kept his spec shadow but switched to healing gear.
Most players don't go shadow, because there is so many more useful talents on the other threes, I'm a first time priest, and I'm currently lvl 46, I re-spec twice to try going full shadow, but I don't like it at all. Holy/disc all the way.
I've been leveling as a Holy priest just fine don't touch shadow at all. Once you get Spiritual Guidance in the tree you start destroying with holy fire and smite. 1-30 was a bit rough but to be honest completely viable to smite things to death with a wand handy I solo'd just fine and always had a dungeon to run. Another option would be to grind dungeons starting with RFC which is fine but I'm not trying to speed level
The troll racial is a 10 second speed boost of 10%, on a several minute cooldown. Getting those 2-3 heals off .2 seconds faster is not a big deal. It's basically for a rare scenario where you gotta dump heals on the tank like they're going out of style, or heal multiple people.
from my understanding, it's a 10-30% based on missing HP this might be a pserver thing, not sure personally I would just roll undead, plague is such a good racial spell to pass up (esp later on when you have good gear)
@@qk-tb2df Well, that's the thing: a healer has to be taking damage to get more than the 10% boost. I'm not trying to say that doesn't happen, but you're spending time clicking the racial, rather than hitting a heal, when you're about to die? You can only use it every few minutes, so it's not gonna be on your macro. (And, if it is, it won't be available when you need it.) I agree on rolling undead.
Yo can you release a talent video? Talk about what its like to play Spriest in pvp bgs, is it fun? do you get perma trained? how do i choose between this and lock. thanks
The instant subscription on your channel and twitch, cuz you are so awesome at playing. Calm, attentive and reasonable person. I like it. I tired about tons of players like Amsongold with a bag of shits on the stream. Maybe I'm stupid and I need to be like "everyone". But I don't like to eat shit. And I won't do that. Peace
Saying to skip the quests up north and run to town first, you make it sound like you can craft this lesser magic wand almost straight away - you however don't mention the over 5 silver expense to pay for the bleach, coarse thread, simple wood and runed copper rod that shows online is required, as well as the amount of linen required to farm to craft the 9 white linen robes to DE - 54 of them. This has me confused and i'm either missing something, or you can definitely do the quests up north first before being able to do this and probably half if not the entire rest of the zone.
You need at least(!) 60 Linen Cloth to get 30 skill points in Tailoring. If you're lucky of course. Could be more because the bolts are yellow from 25 on. I bet most players will hit level 10 before being able to craft the wand.
What professions do you recommand to learn ? You start with tailoring and enchanting. But by what do you replace it or them ? My intuition tells me to take a gathering profession (dont know which) in replacement of enchanting after the wand in order to make money. Then when you have money and made yourself the truefaith vestments, you pick up mining and eng for pvp for example ? thanks
been looking for my spriest hero... looking forward to more content. Would be interested to hear you talking about pvp tactics i.e. fishing for blackout procs w/ swp r1, mind control, mana burn
I tend to put my first 2 points into Healing Focus then into wands, I just find the saves from healing interrupts very handy when leveling particularly when solo
Isn't the whole idea to Smite/Smite/SMP (right as the mon gets on you) and then you just melee/wand? So, in theory, you shouldn't be having a chance to get interrupted enough to justify the 2 points?
@@lhuce7586 because it stops your heals from being interrupted and there is always going to be times when you need to heal and if your getting hit by 2 or more mobs that 1.5 second cast without it will be like 5 seconds instead, the faster you can heal yourself the less likely you will die and the faster you will level, you gotta think more than just what the min/maxers say
Sorry, this might be a dumb question or might have been asked before. I'm really having a hard time getting ready for classic because all my friends want to play on alliance on a pve server, but I've been wanting to play horde on a pvp server. If I were to play horde I'd definitely go undead shadow priest or warlock. If I went alliance I'd probably just go human warrior for the weapon specialization because I don't know if it's worth it to pvp on an alliance shadow priest. Any suggestions?
Can you comment on builds that take shadow weaving, but don't go full shadow? how much does one lose from not going full healer, and how significant would the contribution of a full shadow priest be instead of having another healer that just dots the boss instead for shadow weaving stacks, I feel versatility is under appreciated and people just min max because "muh meters" but maybe I'm wrong so I'd like your expert opinion.
Great video, I’m Meonseasonthree on twitch and I’ve been in your chat a couple times. The whole wand part is super important and I’ll make sure to do that when Classic does release. Thanks for the video!
I know I'm necro-ing your video, but I saw that you mentioned Spirit being high priority. Would you say Stam > Spirit > Int > SP > all others? ....While leveling anyway.
What do you think about dropping enchantment to get mining (to 60 then swap to engineering) should I grind to 70 enchantment for greater magic wand? or just stick with the lesser one? I really want tailoring till 60 for BoP robes and bags but might consider dropping tailoring late late game for alchemy not sure about cost or efficiency of dual production game. Fishing with alchemy IS nice.
You said first to put 5 points in the wand specialization but later you said stay pure in shadow. So should i use 5 points for the wand or skip it and put all in shadow ?
Love this tutorial :-). I have 52 holy priest. Love healing dungeons, but questing and drinking after every couple of mobs is not fun. I am now considering crating one more priest for shadow. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to respec shadow and try healing if needed.
Crafting wands to level enchanting is often the cheapest option and easier to profit off than enchanting gear. So crafting wands is always the best option because you can AH them easily while enchants you have to spam trade for. With enchanting you end up enchanting shit over existing enchants just to progress, losing money in the process. And if you're a priest having the best possible wand at all times is vital.
Gotta say that devouring plague is a HUGE racial difference.. Troll males seem to move slower than other races, i know they dont but UD look like theyre running faster. Hey I ran a female ne priest in vanilla mainly for shadowmeld on a high pop pvp server. My main was a rogue so I was soo used to stealth. I basically leveled the same way you suggested.. You can farm and farm without drinking. At higher 30s i used to MB,sw:p, flay x2 and wand..
7:50 can someone please explain the final steps to making a wand? Once you reach level 10 enchanting by disenchanting white linen robes, what are the final steps to creating a wand? He mentions needing to get a green drop, why?
Cameron Dennis once you are level 10 enchanting you can learn ‘lesser magic wand’ which can be used at level 5. It requires a lesser magic essence and one plank of wood which can be bought from the enchanting vendor. He mentions needing one green drop as you may have to disenchant that green in order to achieve the lesser magic essence required for the wand :)
Hey Kala ! How good is Shadow focus ? And how many points should I typically go for when I'm raiding as a Shadow priest exactly... don't really understand the spell resist concept fully yet
This info is coming from private servers only. As far as I know 6% is maximum resistance reduction cap in pvp. Any further than that doesn't affect in pvp but it will affect in pve. Resistance affects the chance of resisting (missing all or partially) damage. You can put all 5 points for that if you have enough talent points to spend, 3 is what most people spend because they usually just pvp
Entombed or Dissection for a undead always ;) thinkin about naming mine Watain or belphegor, more warlock names perhaps, anyhow death and blackmetal names are the best för toons ;)
Not taking 5/5 wand spec is just a huge mistake. You spend more time using your wand then all your skills combined.

This
You're so right.
This is easily one the most wholesome youtube videos I have watched and I'm 100% subscribing BECAUSE you're hella wholesome.
we didnt have this kinda guide back in the day. this is amazing
Cheers!
Best guide. Best RUclipsr I've found for classic this far. Thank you. I'll be rolling priest this time around. Cant wait.
For instance, it's top dps for Twin Emperors because the magic resistant boss lacks holy resistance thus eliminating the need for movement in an extremely movement intensive fight.
what about going for holy damage (smite, holy fire) until lvl 40 (i.e. before getting shadow form) with wand damage and spirit tap talented ? there are not really all that many good shadow damage spells and talents until lvl 40 ? not to mention that wop:pain usually never runs it full duration on most mobs, meaning it is often a waste of mana ?
thank you kala, i played shadow from wrath till now. fav class
cool content man! I am wondering how you deal with Paladins/Shamans and which one you think is a stronger counter to a holy/disc priest.
This is awesome mate well done 👍
Priceless information. Seriously considering rolling priest after watching your vids. Any pvp tip videos would be amazing.
Yea once you have your wand you can abuse the 5 sec rule to the max. Maybe not the fastest killer but its always stady
Counterpoint:
> spec Holy but pick up Spirit Tap (4/5).
> do dungeons with your friends as a more effective healer.
Nice video but you are just wrong when you talk about not touching holy and disc trees... you should go full shadow at lvl 40
Great vid. Never played a priest, makes me want to run a priest for Classic launch now.
One of the best priest information videos out there, well done.
I’m confused on what to play. Rogue or Priest. I’m leaning towards rogue for pvp but priest are great on pvp too and they’re needed for pve.
you'll have a lot more utility and use out of the priest. Always being able to be a part of a group or raid is pretty important, and you can play more than one role (healer/DPS in both PvP and PvE) but it's only 60 levels, you can have an alt very quickly
can anyone link me a completed shadow priest talent tree? Btw first time playing wow play so maybe a recommendation on point order as well
I was also wondering how you got shadow gear from raids when you were healing? Or if you were raiding for the shadow gear how did you keep your healing gear current?
Did you even see the video? He healed as a shadow priest....
@@MrJengaa yeah no shit guy I'm wanting to know how he kept his healing gear current if he was raiding to roll on shadow gear. I'm assuming he kept his spec shadow but switched to healing gear.
thanks for making this video, i was thinking about playing a priest, but you made me 100% want to play a priest i appreciate it mate 😄
Hold my beer while I'm questing and killing 3 mobs of my level at the same time as a holy priest with no problem.
The troll racial is a 10 second speed boost of 10%, on a several minute cooldown. Getting those 2-3 heals off .2 seconds faster is not a big deal. It's basically for a rare scenario where you gotta dump heals on the tank like they're going out of style, or heal multiple people.
from my understanding, it's a 10-30% based on missing HP
this might be a pserver thing, not sure
personally I would just roll undead, plague is such a good racial spell to pass up (esp later on when you have good gear)
(And, if it is, it won't be available when you need it.)
I agree on rolling undead.
Yo can you release a talent video? Talk about what its like to play Spriest in pvp bgs, is it fun? do you get perma trained? how do i choose between this and lock. thanks
If you just wanna PvP for fun, Spriest dominates. In premades, Spriests aren't taken. They're damage is constantly dispelled.
Hey thats my name above you head! Thanks for the video man! Hoping I can do something similar with Shamans if I ever get access.
you gave him 5k?
Best Dwarf race for Arena? Stoneform vs Starshard vs Devouring Plague...
What professions do you recommand to learn ? You start with tailoring and enchanting. But by what do you replace it or them ?
My intuition tells me to take a gathering profession (dont know which) in replacement of enchanting after the wand in order to make money. Then when you have money and made yourself the truefaith vestments, you pick up mining and eng for pvp for example ?
thanks
is it worth putting any points in wand early before getting mind flay for just basic bitch dps?
been looking for my spriest hero... looking forward to more content. Would be interested to hear you talking about pvp tactics i.e. fishing for blackout procs w/ swp r1, mind control, mana burn
Amen on the races comment!
Dude... that guide is so good that made me want to play a priest hahaahah. Thank you very much!
@@golem26 Interesting, thanks.
Does all of this still work for WoW SoD? Thanks for the video. I appreciate it.
In shadow buold can i heal all dungeon in levelling
so i tried that macro with the shield but it types it out in chat without casting. what am i doing wrong?
Anybody have any idea what his Talent build is? I've got a new undead shadow priest and I don't want to mess them up.
Great video, I’m Meonseasonthree on twitch and I’ve been in your chat a couple times. The whole wand part is super important and I’ll make sure to do that when Classic does release. Thanks for the video!
I was enjoying your video and then you said “absolute unit of a lad” and I cried laughing at and with you. I’m a dork too.
This is so wholesome
I know I'm necro-ing your video, but I saw that you mentioned Spirit being high priority. Would you say Stam > Spirit > Int > SP > all others? ....While leveling anyway.
Stam on Gear isn't realy neccesary. You have Stam-Buff+Shield. Thats enough. So Spellpower>Spirit>Int>Stam. MP5 is also nice later on
*For leveling. For Raiding a certain amount of stam ist necessary to survive certain mechanics
Ty for the tip, going to roll a spriest for classic
What do you think about dropping enchantment to get mining (to 60 then swap to engineering) should I grind to 70 enchantment for greater magic wand? or just stick with the lesser one?
I really want tailoring till 60 for BoP robes and bags but might consider dropping tailoring late late game for alchemy not sure about cost or efficiency of dual production game. Fishing with alchemy IS nice.
Really awesome vid mate, thanks : )
Any similar mage guides that people can point me towards?
in what server are you guys playing on?
good guide, but you said nothing about pvp tips
or rotations on mobs would be helpful
Nice guide!
What's the addon you're using for that party frame?
Awesome video! While waiting for Classic, I was thinking whether I should play Disc or Shadow, and this helped me choose my spec!
What did you pick?!
@@tristtonm7930 I was sure I will go shadow, but I chose Disc/Holy for better heals.
Level 30 & cant 1 shot a level 7 bat.
Awesome!
Cant wait for classic!!!!
@@xXAzarakXx no it won't
You said first to put 5 points in the wand specialization but later you said stay pure in shadow. So should i use 5 points for the wand or skip it and put all in shadow ?
Love this tutorial :-). I have 52 holy priest. Love healing dungeons, but questing and drinking after every couple of mobs is not fun. I am now considering crating one more priest for shadow. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to respec shadow and try healing if needed.
Is it worth it to grab greater magic wand in enchanting or should I just do questing for some other wands?
Crafting wands to level enchanting is often the cheapest option and easier to profit off than enchanting gear. So crafting wands is always the best option because you can AH them easily while enchants you have to spam trade for. With enchanting you end up enchanting shit over existing enchants just to progress, losing money in the process. And if you're a priest having the best possible wand at all times is vital.
hey bro you play in Blizzard servers or you are like as us and play in private servers like Warmane?
This is a great video!!
Nicee that's the exact rotation I happen to be using at level 36 rn, with vamp embrace and a few renews mixed in
Why don’t you have any points in spirit tap?
7:50 can someone please explain the final steps to making a wand? Once you reach level 10 enchanting by disenchanting white linen robes, what are the final steps to creating a wand? He mentions needing to get a green drop, why?
Cameron Dennis once you are level 10 enchanting you can learn ‘lesser magic wand’ which can be used at level 5. It requires a lesser magic essence and one plank of wood which can be bought from the enchanting vendor. He mentions needing one green drop as you may have to disenchant that green in order to achieve the lesser magic essence required for the wand :)
Wholesome as F-- frigg.
Thanks for the guide!
There are people in the chat naming their characters Dunkelheit and Marduk, sounds like good music taste to me ;-)
Entombed or Dissection for a undead always ;) thinkin about naming mine Watain or belphegor, more warlock names perhaps, anyhow death and blackmetal names are the best för toons ;)
