"On a 2.8 speed weapon, Dense Sharpening Stone is worth almost 40 AP, with 1.9 speed it's 58 AP" - quote from someone who did the math. Off-hands are for stats. Even the main-hand only really needs to be slow for heroic strike and whirlwind, and in pre-raid gear you don't get to use those that often. Thank you for the in-depth feedback! You are totally correct that the reason tanks use a faster weapon in order to get out more Heroic Strikes, which will increase our overall flat threat. However, as a Fury Prot tank using a faster weapon can also increase the chance that you will proc Flurry. This does indeed increase the amount of rage you receive but it is at a random rate. A mistake like that shouldn't even be possible if you have played a warrior lol. Its not even a slip of the tongue, since he is basing an entire build around that misunderstanding.....
As a current classic player on Whitemane, I can make wep choices a little simpler in real time. In short, 20s-staff from SFK, 30s- Whirlwind Axe from warriors quest, 40s to pre-raid- Ravager, that simple. Here's why: First off, at lower levels, whatever wep has the best stats with Strength and stam at the highest DPS you can find will be your best bet. You should be leveling fast enough that that should be good enough until SFK (lower 20s). Grab the Staff from Odo in SFK, which is typically a spell caster staff, but great DPS on a wep that's free. Remember, as a warrior, your best attack skills work off of Wep damage, so DPS is most important, spell staff or not. That should float you until lv 30. At 30, work to the Whirlwind wep from the warrior quest, whether you get help from a higher lv player or wait till you can solo it, the Whirlwind wep is Legendary. But in most cases its not hard to find someone willing to help with the quest even being a lower lv. Most players in classic either have rolled a warrior or at least know of the WW wep and how important it is to get that they will help out. I might highly suggest getting the other mats needed for the quest before asking. Players are much more likely to help when all you need to do is Defeat the final boss. But you might get lucky so it never hurts to ask anyway. Look up a guide on the Whirlwind wep quest for mats. After you get the WW wep, Next up is Ravager from SM Armory( mid-late 30s). Ravager will make you a boss in instances all the way until grinding for pre raiding Bis, So mid 50s. Ravager: Chance on hit: You attack all nearby enemies for 9 sec causing weapon damage plus an additional 5 every 3 sec. Im lv 47 now and still do Top DPS in ZF unless a higher lv warrior with Rav is in the group. Melee Cleave groups are the fastest way to level from the 40 on, and the Rav is the best Item to have for it. There is also an Add on just for the Ravager that yells when you proc the wep. If someone took the time to make an Add on just for a wep, that must mean its great right? :D But seriously Ive done ZF after SM Cath from lv 41-Current with only using Ravager, and i still see warriors in the lower 50s using it. Warriors can outdo Mages in AOE using this wep once you get it, so don't sleep on it. I highly recommend, as soon as you can get into SM armory, to grind it out until it drops for you, no matter how long it takes. Subnote: Rav Rotation AOE in Dungeons as currently used - charge as opener, SS, zerker, WW, and cleave until WW is off CD, in the meantime hope Rav procs. if not, and SS is off CD, back to Battle stance to rinse and repeat.
@inkarupay I can't believe people are still watching this video haha. It's been a while but I think I started out with faster weapons in the MH and OH. Like 1.8 speed then of course get Thunderfury. Thanks for the comment.
I tried Arms then switched to Prot after 30. I still need to try Fury. I love the survivability of Prot. I'm going to try that Prot Fury build you suggested.
I know it's wrong but I'm leveling with a dagger shield. It builds rage and the shield makes me tougher. I enjoy it most so far, but I'm on pvp server and might change when I hit more contested areas
"trinkets can be incredibly hard to come by in classic" yea i dont think most people who have only played expansions like wrath onward realize how hard to come by they really are or were.
@@bikespj22 haha... Oh man. I mean you cant blame new people for not knowing some stuff like that but, then again you can, because before your posting on a forum you should at least do some, ANY research at all, and he would've figured it out quick, well maybe not.. i bet it was a hunter.
What I'm wondering about: If I spec into Fury / Prot for end game dps and tanking, do I carry 2 sets of gear in my bags while raiding? Sometimes DPS warriors end up off tanking. Also what gear would be the priority? Like if you had to choose in a quest reward tanking gear or dps gear edit: also, when it's MS > OS, are you prioritizing fury gear or prot gear??
yeah its pretty rough for warriors solo leveling but you can get past some hard levels from 31 to 40 if you jump into some dungeons for a little while =)
Felstriker and ironfoe for prot. Switch them in battle if you have great time for spending a global cooldown. They should have proc per minute rule in classic too.
No mention of Edgemaster's Handguards? If you're not a human or orc they're probably the best gloves for your entire playthrough due to 7 weapon skill eliminating almost the entire penalty of Glancing Blows. It also gives a little extra hit and crit from weapon skill as well. They sim even better than Gauntlets of Annihilation for non humans/orcs for instance. Absolutely insane cost as they're a world drop epic though.
Fury tank is nice once you get some gear going. Towards the end of classic, I was able to tank MC in almost full purple battle gear, keeping only some choice pieces with +defense, with no adverse effects. Killing speed increased tremendously.
since im gonna level in a group of 5 with friends i think I wanna try fury-prot you pathed in 10:35 because Im going to be the tank of our group. One thing i didnt understand though since im completly new to classic, does this use a one handed weapon with a shield or dualwield? Because you said something along the lines that it justifies dualwield. But then does it even make sense to take improved shield block if you dont even wear a shield? Thanks for you video though!
Also, when getting to my whirlwind weapon choice, what would you recommend to take in my situation? I've heard Whirlwind axe is BiS for the rest of your leveling experience but i dont know if it makes sense to take it when going for a group-play oriented warrior that has to occasionally tank in dungeons
I plan on making a video going in depth on the fury prot system I am working on. But yes to answer your question you would use dualwield and switch to shield when you need to block or are taking a lot of damage. I think in your situation you might want to take a one hander from the quest but I am going to take the axe on my orc.
Imo, your leveling build (Arms path) should look more like: 3/3 Imp. Rend, 3/3 Imp. Heroic Strike 3,3/ Deep Wounds, 5/5 Tactical Mastery, 1/2 Imp. Charge 1/1 Anger Management, 2/2 Impale, 2/2 Imp. Overpower 1/1 Sweeping Strikes 5% damage from Two-Hand Spec is going to be next to nothing while leveling, and you can always respec towards the level cap (and you should, especially if you want a more versatile spec to also tank dungeons/OT or TT raids--or PvP; I did all 3 with the same spec). Having Improved Charge, coupled with the maxed Tactical Mastery, will lead to more consistent damage on openers when grinding or threat when tanking. Deflection, though helpful, won't be as important if you intend on heavily utilizing hamstring kiting. You can exchange the Heroic Strike points as per preference, though. Edit: fixed.
@@lblampmanjr Oops, edited the build to fix that mistake. You can exchange the utility points, such as those in Imp. Charge or Heroic Strike for Deflection if you want, though I don't think it's necessary while leveling. I'm leveling as DW Fury, though.
This is great, clear and well thought out. I don't know too much about fury-prot, the build you suggested, but I think it is really interesting and could work for leveling. I would definitely not undervalue Deflection over there in the Arms tree. 1% parry is better than +2 defense for sure (for the end of the build)
Give legacy-wow.com/vanilla-addons/attack-bar-timer/ a shot. I'm not sure if curse will have classic add-ons by the time classic releases but lets hope =) I am going to work on a useful add-ons for classic video very soon too with the stress-test coming up.
It seems to depend a lot on mob hitboxes too. A medium-sized humanoid or smaller feels far easier to hamstring kite than a target larger than the player.
Hey great video, 2 things... first one where can i get these images??? And the second is, i noticed most of the bis are not plate, arent other players gonna be mad or point you as a ninja for rolling for these items In dungeons??
As a DPS warrior most groups that invite you expect you to desire good items from leather to plate. One reason why not so many get invited =( Also, all of the images can be found in the discord.
So Improved cleave only increases the bonus damage from cleave that the total damage. This means for 3 talent points invested you get to increase only the bonus damage from cleave by 120%. At level 60 you can get rank 5 cleave which has 50 bonus damage. That means you only get an extra 60 damage from Improved Cleave at level 60. So its not the most amazing talent and most typically pass on it =)
can i go dual wield 45-60? i'm getting tired of supra slow attack speed and having to jump with hamstring too much. plus for some applications i could really deal with more attack speed even at less damge. Or do the crits from 2H matter so much?
@Sage2000 You'd be surprised, haha. I tanked all of Nax with Fury Prot. I had a whole video planned talking about it. Sadly, I lost the motivation to record and edit it 😔
Hi.. I am late to this vid but I am new to the world of classic WoW and warrior... is there a way to get those graphics of the items and stuff you have in the video? Having those to be able to look at easily as a reference would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much for this video, this is one of the most helpful warrior videos about classic warrior I've seen.
for the cruelty talent, when it says your increases your chance to get a critical strike with melee weapons by 5 percent, does that increased crit chance apply to auto attacks or is it only for ability based attacks such as overpower / mortal strike / bloodthirst?
@@Grimprospect another question, for bloodthirst, when it says it does damage based off 45 percent of your attack power, does it also include the amount of ranged attack power you have or is it strictly from the attack power you get from strength. reason being is because i am trying to do all agility gear, but if i'd do that, then i'd have no melee attack power ( except from battle shout ), but that's situational and i may not have it up in certain periods of battles of fights in case i forget to use it or what not. would that mean by bloodthirst would do no damage if it only scales of melee attack power or attack power bonuses from gear, and the only reason i'd use it is to get the heal benefit it gives from the next 5 successful attacks?
@@idin03 Bloodthirst will scale off your melee attack power only. However, agility is still useful for warriors as it gives us crit and dodge. And don't forget about your base strength you will have by the time you unlock bloodthirst at level 40 as a minimum, since warriors get 2 melee attack power per point of strength. Hope that helps =D
@@Grimprospect yeh i know about agility giving crit, dodge and more armor, it may be difficult doing my fury build, since all of my pieces will be agility based ( mostly from mail ), although a few rare plate ones with agility too. i would have to rely on having battle shout active at all times. i would most certainly go 5/5 booming voice and 5/5 for improved battle shout. this also brings on another question. do you know if deep wounds talent scales off attack power, or is it only basing it off what the weapon itself? for example, if one weapon says 30.00 damage per second on the weapon itself, will deep wounds only do 60 percent of that damage?
@@idin03 As far as I know Deep Wounds will only scale off your melee weapon's average damage without taking into account Battle Shout but since you are trying to stack agility should give you a lot of opportunities to proc Deep Wounds. Also, if you are considering using a 2-handed weapon you could get more damage out of Deep Wounds. I'm not sure what you are trying to do with this build but there could be something to be said for 2-handed Fury build with your hyper-focus on agility. But this is one reason why I love classic so much because it opens up for creative things such as this. =D
How heavily would I need to alter some of these builds if I do not intend to "stance-dance"? I may eventually adopt the play style but more likely I will just sit in prot stance to tank or fury stance to dps. I know this will limit what skills I can make use of in combat. Do all of these builds assume I will be weaving in and out of multiple stances?
You don't really need a guide if you aren't going to min max leveling. Just know you are severely gimping yourself, especially in classic, if you dont stance dance.
So you can pop Death Wish while feared to break it. However, you will not be able to remove Death Wish as it is a debuff in classic rather than a buff that can be right-click cancelled.
westfall is supposed to be from 10-20 ? iam almost done with redrige and iam only now half way to level 21. i even did dead mines. what did i do wrong?
Are you talking about when I was using the dual-wielding setup? Because I was just demonstrating that it is possible to mix in hamstring kiting into a regular clear while using any weapon type. But I do state and show that hamstring kiting is meant to be done with a slow 2-handed weapon in the video.
It should be possible you will just have to kite backwards and to the slide rather than running through it. Hopefully they fix leeway at release but it was possible to hamstring kite in the beta.

Subnote: Rav Rotation AOE in Dungeons as currently used - charge as opener, SS, zerker, WW, and cleave until WW is off CD, in the meantime hope Rav procs. if not, and SS is off CD, back to Battle stance to rinse and repeat.
great vid man! keep going!
Can tell a lot of time went into this, very helpful! Keep it up!
Very informational, thank you!
Thank you ! such an awesome guide
Very good video, i hope you make more!
Wow man. Thanks so much. Going to track down all this gear.
Great video, thank you for all the effort put into it!
Awesome guide, subbed
Thanks wonderfulllll video
Great video! :D
Very good quality video :) subbed
This is awesome. Great video.
good stuff 👍 liked/subbed
Love your video!
Great guide! Maybe I missed it but, you want your main hand or off hand to be fast? As duel wield? Or both weapon fast?
@inkarupay I can't believe people are still watching this video haha. It's been a while but I think I started out with faster weapons in the MH and OH. Like 1.8 speed then of course get Thunderfury. Thanks for the comment.
@@Grimprospect awesome thank you!
You did a really good video m8. Thanks for this
Sick video dude. Thanks you
I tried Arms then switched to Prot after 30. I still need to try Fury. I love the survivability of Prot. I'm going to try that Prot Fury build you suggested.
You will love fury prot! It's very dynamic.
@14:40 overpower is castable after a dodge, not a miss.
I saw on the forums someone asking if helm drops were bugged
"I'm level 20 and I havent seen a single helm drop" lmao
@@bikespj22 haha... Oh man. I mean you cant blame new people for not knowing some stuff like that but, then again you can, because before your posting on a forum you should at least do some, ANY research at all, and he would've figured it out quick, well maybe not.. i bet it was a hunter.
What I'm wondering about: If I spec into Fury / Prot for end game dps and tanking, do I carry 2 sets of gear in my bags while raiding? Sometimes DPS warriors end up off tanking. Also what gear would be the priority? Like if you had to choose in a quest reward tanking gear or dps gear
edit: also, when it's MS > OS, are you prioritizing fury gear or prot gear??
dude my war s only lvl 28 at 2days played, so hard to lvl up, but at least I got first aid and blacksmithing up a little :D Gl to all of you
yeah its pretty rough for warriors solo leveling but you can get past some hard levels from 31 to 40 if you jump into some dungeons for a little while =)
Felstriker and ironfoe for prot. Switch them in battle if you have great time for spending a global cooldown. They should have proc per minute rule in classic too.
Diamond Flask is not a small healing trinket. I have seen it out heal healers. It makes warriors God Tier.
4:22 would’ve died by 1 more hit/crit/missed attack while talking that you don’t need to heal much, good hc advice 😅
How do you break combat effectively without piercing howl?
I'll never know.
First thing to spec into is PH then Arms.
@@Grimprospect I'm looking forward to your video! Thanks for answering, much love
I saved it. I had a lot of the gear mentioned in vanilla. Good times. ty
Nice video.
Imo, your leveling build (Arms path) should look more like:
3/3 Imp. Rend, 3/3 Imp. Heroic Strike
3,3/ Deep Wounds, 5/5 Tactical Mastery, 1/2 Imp. Charge
1/1 Anger Management, 2/2 Impale, 2/2 Imp. Overpower
1/1 Sweeping Strikes
5% damage from Two-Hand Spec is going to be next to nothing while leveling, and you can always respec towards the level cap (and you should, especially if you want a more versatile spec to also tank dungeons/OT or TT raids--or PvP; I did all 3 with the same spec).
How to you get 2/2 Impale without Deep Wounds? Looks like that must be added, so how would that change your build (if at all)?
@@lblampmanjr Oops, edited the build to fix that mistake. You can exchange the utility points, such as those in Imp. Charge or Heroic Strike for Deflection if you want, though I don't think it's necessary while leveling. I'm leveling as DW Fury, though.
This is great, clear and well thought out. I don't know too much about fury-prot, the build you suggested, but I think it is really interesting and could work for leveling. I would definitely not undervalue Deflection over there in the Arms tree. 1% parry is better than +2 defense for sure (for the end of the build)
What's the addon called that tracks your swingtimer?
Give legacy-wow.com/vanilla-addons/attack-bar-timer/ a shot. I'm not sure if curse will have classic add-ons by the time classic releases but lets hope =) I am going to work on a useful add-ons for classic video very soon too with the stress-test coming up.
the kite method doesn't work, it an delay so the mobs hit me from like 10 bloody meters
They'll still hit you occasionally just not as much
It seems to depend a lot on mob hitboxes too. A medium-sized humanoid or smaller feels far easier to hamstring kite than a target larger than the player.
Hey great video, 2 things... first one where can i get these images??? And the second is, i noticed most of the bis are not plate, arent other players gonna be mad or point you as a ninja for rolling for these items
In dungeons??
As a DPS warrior most groups that invite you expect you to desire good items from leather to plate. One reason why not so many get invited =( Also, all of the images can be found in the discord.
Hi very good video! I’m planning on playing a warrior in classic, how can i get all those images ?
Why are you avoiding improved cleave ? i think as prot it's great to maintain pack aggro.
So its not the most amazing talent and most typically pass on it =)
earned a sub homie.
Great video! do mages next!
Whats the intro song?
can i go dual wield 45-60? i'm getting tired of supra slow attack speed and having to jump with hamstring too much. plus for some applications i could really deal with more attack speed even at less damge. Or do the crits from 2H matter so much?
Gonna be playing mage when classic comes out but this was good info! Thank you!
How about 2h arms Bis ?
Sounds like an awesome idea!
Yea I want that too
I have been away for years... Since when Warrior tanks dual wield? I sm confused
I'm pretty sure I still have them pinned in my discord 😉
for the cruelty talent, when it says your increases your chance to get a critical strike with melee weapons by 5 percent, does that increased crit chance apply to auto attacks or is it only for ability based attacks such as overpower / mortal strike / bloodthirst?
It would be all sources. Its an amazing talent =)
You can also tank as arms and just deal more dmg than everyone else in the dungeon :)
9:10 crit does not give extra threat so 20% more damage on crits should not either ?
also can bloodthirst be used in def stance ?
How heavily would I need to alter some of these builds if I do not intend to "stance-dance"?
I may eventually adopt the play style but more likely I will just sit in prot stance to tank or fury stance to dps.
I know this will limit what skills I can make use of in combat. Do all of these builds assume I will be weaving in and out of multiple stances?
You don't really need a guide if you aren't going to min max leveling. Just know you are severely gimping yourself, especially in classic, if you dont stance dance.
Can you activate death wish then do a cancel of it? So you can us it as a fear break but not get hit with the Andes damage income
So you can pop Death Wish while feared to break it. However, you will not be able to remove Death Wish as it is a debuff in classic rather than a buff that can be right-click cancelled.
westfall is supposed to be from 10-20 ? iam almost done with redrige and iam only now half way to level 21. i even did dead mines. what did i do wrong?
you should always run fury till level 50.... Arms has very little powerspikes early on while fury has them early and not much later.
Does deep wounds take a debuff slot? If so doesnt that murder that fury build for end game in classic?
Deep wounds is low on the priority list but you take deep wounds to get to impale. So you deep wounds only pushes off other low priority debuffs.
did they patch sitting down to get critted on by an npc so u can proc enrage + blood craze in classic?
Yeah they did not include that aspect in classic.
If you want to hamstring kite instead of just face tanking, you really want a slow two-hander.
Are you talking about when I was using the dual-wielding setup? Because I was just demonstrating that it is possible to mix in hamstring kiting into a regular clear while using any weapon type. But I do state and show that hamstring kiting is meant to be done with a slow 2-handed weapon in the video.
what addon for swing timer
Ironfoe is pre-bis for tanks.
Will hamstring kiting be viable in classic? I think I heard it wont be because melee leway but I might be wrong
It should be possible you will just have to kite backwards and to the slide rather than running through it. Hopefully they fix leeway at release but it was possible to hamstring kite in the beta.
Update: clips.twitch.tv/ClumsyFlirtySamosaPlanking It does indeed work
