@@WillEmmo Great lift for me :) I still remember being confused the first time i did it and they didn't die. then learned you had to take mind control off right after you jump them off for them to take all of the fall dmg. If you didn't, they will stop for a second once MC is out of range and it will save them. but i loved doing this to not only grief them but, knowing it would do inventory damage lol. i loved griefing in vanilla. me and a friend would cover a thor(flight master in westfall). I would cover his body with a kodo mount and my tauren friend would sit on his feet. people would attack us while trying to click on him and ofc we would kill them. I also would duel low level rogues in westfall then /forfeit the second the duel started because most would be spamming sinister strike and would hit me after the duel(flagging them so i could kill them). some other favorites were summoning non undead friends(who didn't have a water breathing class) in super deep water where they couldn't swim up in time before drowning. and summoning them on a super narrow branch in the back of teldrassil with probably the highest drop in the game. It was hard for people to walk on the branch even if they stopped and were trying not to fall while walking slowly but, often when people get summoned they will jump around or just walk randomly before even seeing where they are and then fall to their death.
A point regarding the 8 piece prophecy bonus. It had an interaction with the holy talent Inspiration. When our guild was progressing through Naxx40, it became invaluable for learning the patchwerk fight. We would put our 3 main tanks and main healer in the same group with me spamming low rank prayers to keep their armor buffed by 25%. Niche for sure, but super effective.
A note on wands: Pick up tailoring and enchanting. You can disenchant linen green items to get enchanting high enough to make a level 5 wand and a level 13 wand. You don't need to keep tailoring/enchanting if you only want it for the starter wands. Alternatively, there will be a lot of priests doing this and I imagine most will be willing to part with a crafted wand cheap, if not free if you donate some linen cloth (it is just wood + 2 lesser essence, a couple silver worth of materials). Seek out one of these priests to get the wands early without needing the professions yourself. These will hold you over until you can do the Black Fathom Deeps quest for Gravestone Scepter. This wand is amazing for its level and will carry you up to 40 for Shadowform easy. So even the con of "starting out slow and needing to spend gold on the AH" isn't much of a con if you plan around it. The wands in the 40-55 range are not so great, and if you still want to play without the AH, try to hit up Mara or Sunken Temple for wand upgrades. As a healer you can get by squeezing into dungeons at a lower level than you normally should, since your dps against higher level enemies doesn't matter. It also breaks up the monotony of the solo dot/wand grind. Have dps minions kill stuff for you while you trail along and get loot :D

Your channel has popped up from nowhere it seems, and exploded well. I hope you can keep up this quality of content and you get the success it deserves. Speaking for myself- your videos have got me considering jumping into Classic, where before I had not been even thinking about it. Gotta see that warlock vid...I can’t decide...priest or warlock...I love warlock, but I also love healing....AAAAAHHHHHH!
Mind Blast having higher threat was because, and hear me out here, Priests were supposed to be able to tank. Kinda why Inner Fire exists as well. But thankfully the idea was scrapped very early on and Inner Fire/Mind Blast threat are just the hold overs of that crazy idea.
First Char i ever created was a Rogue..after we lost every BG at lvl 30~ cause we didnt have heals i was so mad i lvled up a Priest and played it till today.
I played priest all through vanilla, leveling as holy priest for that true masochist experience. The class had big changes throughout the patches so the pre-TBC patch talents that Classic will be launching with massively improved the class. Prayer of healing is a truly incredibly spell, with talents, downranking and set bonus you can top the meters everytime, however I managed to actually pull boss agro from the sheer amount of healing it outputs so need to be careful. Shadow is literally gods of PvP until they run out of mana, they will destroy anyone 1v1 even in garbage gear until people are hitting tier 2, abuse the crap out of mana burn to make healers cry. Priest actually has many more weakness, is incredibly weak to rogue with no way to remove poisons and slows so enjoy the inevitable ganks, the only CC is 30 second cooldown aoe fear which is insanely dangerous for pulling more in dungeons, the lack of an interrupt outside of talented shadow silence is really awful against casters and no slow outside of channelled mindflay hurts against melee, you will be tanking alot of damage so keep inner fire and Pw:shield up at all times. Overall priest is a great class but certainly not the best, you will be competing against mages, warlocks and other healers for that sweet caster and cloth gear, utility is pretty boring and skillcap is low, plus you will be forced to heal in raids and mostly dungeons, so if you like shadow enjoy spending and farming 2x50gold every time you swap. Make sure you have a best friend as a mage as you will need that sweet sweet water, a few stacks to get by everyday else priest life is expensive and slow.
Maining a Priest for Classic. As soon as Classic was announced there wasn't a question in my mind as to what I wanted to play. You could have also mentioned that Priests can solo gold farm really well as well. Phase 1 you can do Mara Princess runs. Phase 2+ you can do DM East Lasher AoE farm. Can't wait, pretty hyped. Can't stop playing the stress test. Great video!
There were quite a few cloth items that had higher than normal armor and you could get defense buffs (like the defense shoulder buff from leatherworkers) and that really increased your survivability in PvP.
i was actually leveling faster as a spriest recently then i did was a warlock. The wand and spirit regen is amazing. I've main'ed both for years so pretty familiar with both classes.
Shadow at 40 was so fun - go for max Hit so you can fight lvls way above you; DoT, slow, stun them to death. (Hmm, dammit, that was TBC, but build looks very alike here.)
Yes. I decided to level up my brother's shadow priest in tbc (he was rank 14 geared though) and I was in hellfire peninsula when I was attacked by two rogues. They must have been level 70 because they appeared as skulls to me, but I managed to kill them both at level 60. I finished the last guy off by activating the zandalarian hero charm (which I might add was still amazing in tbc before it was nerfed to bits). Remember that encounter well.
You won't regret shadowmeld on a pvp server. 10 secs cooldown in vanilla it's pretty much the best tactical racial for wpvp. Gives a whole new meaning to shadowpriest :p
Really nice video. What sucks and also what is great about classic is that it's so hard to pick a main and kind of crucial that you do. Not that it isn't casual friendly, things just take longer. I'm currently stuck between a priest, a hunter and a lock. I might just have to do all three, but which first? Hunter or priest?

Shadow word pain is better than warlock dots in pve by far . it ticks harder, last longer and it procs vampiric embrace, which should be improved to heal maintank and warlock(s) lifetap damage which you will be grouped with People treat priests as poor dps, but in reality they are a hybrid healer-dps, and their total output is very respectable. if you are allowed to use shadow word pain you can and will outheal some of your healers if your group takes consistent damage. you can stack warlocks who dont use their imp for buff in a group with a SP and you will cover all lifetap damage . and on vaelastrazs you will also be able to almost singlehandedly keep your own group topped off. I would argue that any free debuff slot the raid has could open up a shadow priest slot, but for fights with low raid damage they do fall off in efficiency. Undead SP with decent spelldamage also becomes a god of grinding. shadow word pain, vampiric embrace and rank 2 touch of weaknes(due to spellpower scaling and mana cost) spam will drop a mob on the move, and you will be able to keep this going almost forever without needing to eat or drink. Any 5 man group with a druid healer also want to bring a shadow priest if possible due to their ress and slight edge over ret paladins and dps shamans
I did fiddle with it a bit, i dont know how much better I can get out of it. Still having to do scuffed audio cuts due to random noises as it so sensitive
Decent video, quite informative. I like the series.... only thing I could say is that you could also have had a "quality of life" section in the video including class specific gold farming strats/ease of finding groups. Great series for the newcomers though! Priest4Lyfe
@@WillEmmo Easy to say with hindsight :) the series is great, all the help we can give the newer players to settle in and find their rhythm the better. There are plenty of quality of life tricks and tips around if you had time to make another video before the 27th (I'd be happy to help with some ideas if needed too).... obviously after the 27th you wont have time due to levelling xD
I can’t decide on a class. I’m also having trouble picking pvp/pve server. Even which faction to play. I played horde 80% of retail so I was thinking of going alliance for a fresh experience but I love to pvp and horde racials I’ve leveled a Druid to 12, a mage to 19 and now I feel like I want to play either a Spriest, lock or rogue. In retail (played from BC up to WoD) I was an altoholic but I hear how difficult it is to gear up in vanilla so I’m having trouble dedicating.
I love me some priest. But it would be a challenge to play shadow in raids so I probably won't for classic. I'll be all over priest if they ever release TBC realms.
You can use Blade of Eternal Darkness to cut out Mind Blast from your rotation. It solves the threat and mana problems that shadow priests have and lets you out dps mages as long as your raid lead lets you use SWP.
@@RealJuiceWrld I raid as a shadow priest and I have no threat issues, mana problems just require a lot of consumables but its not that bad. Really fun spec.
As a warlock main, absolutely non of the warlock dots do anywhere near as much dps as shadow word pain. The thing is locks have alot of dots. Shadow priest at their best will do about 60% as much damage as a warlock of same gear level within a raid setting, the 15% extra shadow damage then adds to this and so if you have any more than 3 locks in a raid, you are always better off bringing a shadow priest over another lock.
8:00 Now I wonder, Why a priest from pre third war has a piece of the world tree that is located in a continent that the alliance didnt know existed at the time?
The interesting thing about troll priests, specifically shadowpriests or pvp healing specs is the shadowguard racial + blackout talent. It's basically a 10% chance to stun a rogue when they open on you every few seconds. Not massive, but it's something.
You do a fantastic job pointing out the positive with the different classes and you have great vocal inflection. You're making this very difficult for me!
Hey WillE, can you make a Video about ranking the classes from there overall difficulties? Like the easiest to hardest class to learn and master. Im new to WoW and this would help a lot of new players that want to start classic alot i guess.
I think it would to too difficult to make. And I dont really want to make things based on opinion id rather be neutral. Hopefully the class vids give you a decent idea of what is easier to play/ master though
1 thing about the troll curse of weakness, the healing reduction stacks with mortal strike for a total of 70% healing reduction, so its a must on certain bosses imo
One thing I’ve been enjoying leveling my priest is the little amount of downtime that I have, as you just passively generate a good chunk of mana and wand spec helps a lot with dps.
I started a holy priest 1.5 years into vanilla after those first years were spent on a druid. I kept my Benediction in the bank just because. And man...I'm glad I did. I love it for Xmog so incredibly much.
My brother got rank 14 just before I did and he played a shadow priest back in the day. We noticed that it wasn't until much later (soo before TBC came out) that SPs became more prolific and were making a mark for themselves in pvp. I don't know whether that was just because of our server, but there weren't any SP high warlords/grand marshals until near the end of vanilla's life.
When you discussed dwarves, you mentioned stoneform, but night elf shadowmeld doesn't get a mention? That racial is great for PVP - mind control out of stealth, hide from tracking, hide from gankers.
I'm thinking of playing undead warlock and priest with my friend. SL warlock and shadow priest for PvP to be specific. In theory they should have some nasty synergy in PvP. They have loads of rot damage with multiple curses and other debuffs that boost shadow damage taken by insane amounts. Shadow weaving, +15% with 100% uptime - curse of shadow, +10%. 100% uptime - imp. shadowbolt, 20%, uptime scales with lock's crit (only usable with the shadowburn spec, not when specced 20 in aff for better dots). These specs have insane CC with fears, deathcoil, stun procs, and silences. But the real obnoxious kicker, is what a pair of immortal tanks they can be. SL warlocks are by themselves really tanky with 2 potential voidwalker sacrifices, the shared damage with the tanky blueberry, 10% reduced phys dmg taken, healthstones, and drain life... But add in a SP that has shields, and permanent vamp embrace to leech 30% of her shadow damage dealt to the target, and deliver it to the most injured friend. The SP isn't that squishy either, with 15% reduced physical damage taken, shields, renew, health stones, and the devouring plague heal.
@@WillEmmo Nice. Been a lock main since TBC when I started, all the way to BFA. Never played it in vanilla and I'm really looking forward to classic. Can't wait to roam the world as a duo of tanky undead shadow casters :)
@@xshadowhandx hmm i understand but in my opinion undeads are No1: best look, style matches lore, and this fking OP racial. I cant remember how many times i was saved from warriors/rougues
Undead is great as well. While dwarf fear ward is useful in pvp it shines in pve. Fear can be a problem on some fights and that ward is op in those fights
I would say 20-30 is a little rough, but honestly it's hardly a problem. Priests are good levelers all throughout. This will be my main class, then mage. I just love the flavor. Insanely strong class
I'm leveling a priest then mage as well, they are both so great at PVE and PVP as well as being support classes with buffs, ccs, etc. My plan is Human priest with Tailoring/Enchanting then a Gnome mage with Mining/Eng, we'll see how that goes :D Cheers!
Liam Wilson it may have had the classic world in it but the game wasn’t very similar to classic. WotLK introduced a lot of the “QoL” changes that started ruining WoW
joey b and honestly there’s nothing wrong with LFG, it gives people who are solo players such as myself, the opportunity to experience the storyline in the raids.
When they removed priests racials, my brother yelled out in trade chat “I can’t feel Elune’s grace! My connection to my goddess has been severed. I don’t know what’s worth fighting for anymore! Guess, I’ll go to the dark side...”
Was 'disco bubble' priest in Classic or did that only come around in tBC? I don't remember now. I was always a druid underdogger, but later I went to Disc Bubbles and really enjoyed tossing bubbles everywhere; some keybind that would do a little explosion AoE buff, and half or all the party woudl get bubbled up was fun too.
2021 watching, and remembering my naive 2019 self and how excited I was in anticipation for classic - the first time I binged all these videos - and feeling like a doomer
Shadow priests might struggle in raids, but are literal GODS in PvP. Especially 1v1, a good shadow priest should almost never lose a duel, unless youre severely outgeared. welp nvm you got around to it in the video... should have just waited before commenting lol... great video!

Good points there cheers!
Great vid! Mic sounds great now too
I did fiddle with it a bit, i dont know how much better I can get out of it. Still having to do scuffed audio cuts due to random noises as it so sensitive
Decent video, quite informative. I like the series.... only thing I could say is that you could also have had a "quality of life" section in the video including class specific gold farming strats/ease of finding groups. Great series for the newcomers though! Priest4Lyfe
Could have been a good addition I agree!
I played horde 80% of retail so I was thinking of going alliance for a fresh experience but I love to pvp and horde racials
I’ve leveled a Druid to 12, a mage to 19 and now I feel like I want to play either a Spriest, lock or rogue.
In retail (played from BC up to WoD) I was an altoholic but I hear how difficult it is to gear up in vanilla so I’m having trouble dedicating.
Hmm bunch of choices there, id take leveling as the first step though!
I love me some priest. But it would be a challenge to play shadow in raids so I probably won't for classic. I'll be all over priest if they ever release TBC realms.
Shadow/Disc priest were insane in TBC, especially in pvp. I still get anxious thinking about them.
Was waiting for this one!
Yeah corruption was to proc Nightfall really, not purely for damage
this is the one i was waiting for, im going shadow priest OR holy priest, haven't yet decided. but this video helped me! thank you
leveling as shadow was a lot of fun for me(was my third 60), and you can heal reliably in that spec until post MC raids
Another quality thicc vid and you’re getting that sub count high! Keep up the good work, very much looking forward to the Lock vid.
8:00 Now I wonder, Why a priest from pre third war has a piece of the world tree that is located in a continent that the alliance didnt know existed at the time?
@12:53 can you use rank 1 mind blast for that?
For me, it's coming down to Warlock or Priest. Your video on the Warlock will really help me decide.
His video on warlock was fantastic, so I guess your choice has been made :)
Shadow Guard also works against ranged attacks and most importantly it scales with your shadow Sp and procs all of your abilities not just blackout.
You're skyrocketing in subs WillE(y) :D
Nice, i love your videos dude. When is the warlock one coming out?
I've been waiting for that as well :)
Heya, will be next tuesday!
Sweet, thanks! Was excited for this one.
I think the Troll Priest hex is vastly underrated. Yes, there's the Mortal Strike debuff, but it is not two minutes long.
Troll is easily the best race for Priests in Classic
The interesting thing about troll priests, specifically shadowpriests or pvp healing specs is the shadowguard racial + blackout talent. It's basically a 10% chance to stun a rogue when they open on you every few seconds. Not massive, but it's something.
@@sparkoceanic blackout + shadowguard is huge. Also the troll haste cd for raids makes them the #1 pick for both PvE and PvP
This
You do a fantastic job pointing out the positive with the different classes and you have great vocal inflection. You're making this very difficult for me!
Thanks!
Awesome video!
i've enjoyed this series, keep pumping out creative content WillE
Thanks!
10:31 Why did you say only Alliance priest have prayer of healing? Horde priests do not have this spell?
Just meant its their only form of aoe healing, horde do have it too
Nice video. I'm choosing between Priest and Paladin. Leaning more towards Paladin because they are like fantasy Jedis
go paladin, you will definetly enjoy it more levelling and endgame.
@@xiaoxaxo Really endgame? I read that 90% of the time you are just spamming FLash Heal :(
At 20:55 what is the name of this melody.. Thank you!
ruclips.net/video/jS3a5TbCLC0/видео.html
starts at like 16 sec
One thing I’ve been enjoying leveling my priest is the little amount of downtime that I have, as you just passively generate a good chunk of mana and wand spec helps a lot with dps.
What music did you use! It sound familiar :P - I can't wait to see the Warlock video!
Various music from different zones, think I had Silithus, dwarf starting area and teldrassil music in there.
@@WillEmmo Legend. Thank you!
I started a holy priest 1.5 years into vanilla after those first years were spent on a druid. I kept my Benediction in the bank just because. And man...I'm glad I did. I love it for Xmog so incredibly much.
Benediction still stands out to this day, amazing weapon
Benediction is STILL my pride and joy on my priest. And with Classic out, I will 100% get it again.
Mindflay uses a Debuffslot. Great Video, as always. Keep up the good work!
What are the rebuff slots that people keep talking about?
My brother got rank 14 just before I did and he played a shadow priest back in the day. We noticed that it wasn't until much later (soo before TBC came out) that SPs became more prolific and were making a mark for themselves in pvp. I don't know whether that was just because of our server, but there weren't any SP high warlords/grand marshals until near the end of vanilla's life.
When you discussed dwarves, you mentioned stoneform, but night elf shadowmeld doesn't get a mention? That racial is great for PVP - mind control out of stealth, hide from tracking, hide from gankers.
I suppose. It cant be used in combat which devalues it quite a bit for me. I do like it too - maybe I should have given it a mention.
@@WillEmmo I forgot it couldn't be used in combat! I've been playing Retail too long lol (since 2005 :P)
The SP isn't that squishy either, with 15% reduced physical damage taken, shields, renew, health stones, and the devouring plague heal.
yeah they will melt groups of noobs, conflag shadowburn lock with a discpriest would be pretty sick too or shadow affinity shadowburn
Locks and spriest are great together in pvp and dungeons, they amp up each others damage very well - working on lock vid too!
@@WillEmmo Nice. Been a lock main since TBC when I started, all the way to BFA. Never played it in vanilla and I'm really looking forward to classic.
Can't wait to roam the world as a duo of tanky undead shadow casters :)
Great series! Definitely played a vital role in my main class decision.
Glad to hear, thanks!
Can somebody please tell me what the music is that starts around 0:30 and carries on for a while?
lovin these videos. cant wait for lock
God damn, imagine geared warlocks in later phases with shadow weaving buff + power infusion LOL. That shit is just not fair
I know that night elf is the worst option for priests but they look the coolest to me so that's what I'm rolling lol
Why worst option?
@@mateoWonsacz because dwarf is sooo good. Fear ward is most useful of all by alot.
Ide really like to play wrath of the lich king again, it was the last expansion to still hold the classic world in it.
Liam Wilson it may have had the classic world in it but the game wasn’t very similar to classic. WotLK introduced a lot of the “QoL” changes that started ruining WoW
joey b I didn’t say anything about mechanics I simply stated the world itself.
joey b and honestly there’s nothing wrong with LFG, it gives people who are solo players such as myself, the opportunity to experience the storyline in the raids.
joey b yea no need to argue we all have our own views :)
joey b I’m just happy there are still people around from those days, I often feel like I’m the last of my kind in wow lol 😂
When they removed priests racials, my brother yelled out in trade chat
“I can’t feel Elune’s grace! My connection to my goddess has been severed. I don’t know what’s worth fighting for anymore! Guess, I’ll go to the dark side...”
rip, cant believe they ditched them
"Not everyone will be standing with Benediction ! Believe me !" In the mean time in Stormwind : every priest is equiped with Benediction. :D
My man! Thanks so much
like and subbed, holy crap this video was awesome!
Thanks!
You have done some great videos in the build-up to classic. Great information.
We going back again bois
No we aren’t
@@professionalhater3929Speak for yourself, homeslice.
Can't fucking wait , this may be my last time going through vanilla so I am taking my time and enjoying the leveling
Can't wait for the Death Knight video!
Big soon
2021 watching, and remembering my naive 2019 self and how excited I was in anticipation for classic - the first time I binged all these videos - and feeling like a doomer
Get ready to do it all over again with Classic Fresh!
It's weird hearing past quality willE
dude your videos are so good
My Night elf Shadow Priest ( Silent ) melted faces off! He was a Night Lieutenant in PvP armor, and I stacked Intel and Stam enchants
Shadow priests might struggle in raids, but are literal GODS in PvP. Especially 1v1, a good shadow priest should almost never lose a duel, unless youre severely outgeared. welp nvm you got around to it in the video... should have just waited before commenting lol... great video!
Thanks haha, yep totally agree they are really scary
Finally! Love your videos
I know all of this stuff, played both actual Vanilla and some private servers. Still love these videos! Keep up the good work :).
