Keep it up!!
Great guide man. Thanks for this.
Great guide. Thank you.
Thank you thank you thank you. Finally a good hunter video. Really appreciate the work put into this. It shows. Liked, subscribed and will be sharing.
I herd the one shot macro doesn't work on beta mite be me cause of the legion client.
Does it work?
don't forget hunter is amazing in heroics as well, strong CC, good damage, can kite, exc.
and if its a SV hunter speced for utility, be ready for some shenanigans
For sure! First draft had like 5 comments on reasons to play hunter that included this element but ended up with the 'I could go on' line I did ha. Would have been a long video! Good addition!
why everyone dont use serpent sting in their rotation? I dont get it.
I mean it's a DOT, just one click. And 8 debuff limit has gone.
sorry for my english btw
generally speaking its just not worth the global, doesnt scale very well (its 10% of your RAP + 660), doesn't really merit the 1.5 second GCD over more steadies (which is weapon damage + 20% RAP + 150), since steadies use weapon damage on top of your RAP, it just scales insanely well, so you just wanna slap as many of those out as possible without delaying autos (and filling in a multi when off CD).
Both serpent sting and arcane shot can be used while moving so I can definitely see people doing that during mechanics
In classic at least; most of your damage as hunter comes from your auto shots. The difference between a good and bad hunter is how well you weave in aimed shot and multi shot in between your auto shot. Serpent sting sucks because it takes up your GCD in your auto shot rotation when you could be casting aimed shot, and if you have to move multi shot does more DPS and is more mana efficient. Very rarely if ever do you arcane shot or serpent sting in a raid. It's definitely useful in pvp however.
@@mikeb3808 arcane and serpent will definitely have a place. Aimed shot is pretty much never used and replaced by steady shot and arcane shot actually scales with ap now
@@nathaneldridge157 I doubt it, you use Scorpid Sting over Serpent in TBCraid and arcane shot is still a DPS loss over multi.
Doesnt Improved aspect of the hawk mess up 1 button macro because it changes attack speed?
As far as I know, the macro has 2 iterations to account for attack speed changes. The main loss is just multi shot over one of the steadies when it's available. But that may be different in the beta client.
Why is it soo hard to pick a main?!
Great video though I'm strongly considering hunter
What about Blood Elf Mana Tap combined with Vipersting, isn't it a great Benefit vs Mages and Palas on PVP?
I suspect that helps speed up the drain a little bit but I'm not sure how valuable it would be versus standard viper sting plus what the other horde races bring to the table. Arcane torrent is pretty nice if you can land it on 2+ players especially but a little awkward alot of the time. Definitely not an awful choice, should have touched on it
So I can basically remove Aimed shot from the actionbar?
No. Keep Aimed Shot for Misdirect pulling. It still provides a HUGE amount of damage and threat for the tank
Why does your Steady Shot have a 1 sec cast time?
@knot What is the addon/website you use to check out gear and stuff that you posted 11:33 . Thank you !
That is a wonderful site called seventyupgrades.com - some of the weights need to get updated by relevant theorycrafters, but on the whole, its a fantastic tool.
@@KnotxD Thank you so much !!
There has been some theorycrafting that meleeweaving may still be possible for those that really want to push it, with the deadzone gone you will barely have to tap your keyboard to go into melee and ranged
That however sacrifices steady shots, so is probably only viable IF your rotation allows for it, ie. there is a gap between the last steady and the auto thats short enough that you cant fill it with a steady, but large enough that you can get the AA off.
@@Kianwan the theorycrafting on it is still definitely in the works but the general consensus is that its not dead im keeping my eyes on thr discord for when the numbers guys got it figured out
Just boosted my first Hunter, been just casting agilities manually, should I be using macro(s) instead?
Great video btw thanks!
Nah you'll be all good without macros it's just that there was an infamous '1 button rotation macro' but it's not really a thing for tbc classic since you'll wanna do your multi shots and potentially even Arcane shot (newer development than the video unfortunately )
Do we know if we will be getting more stable slots in TBC? Also what’s the link to the hunter discord?
Hunter discord: discord.gg/krp6aeSDdh
From what I recall, stable only got expanded in the Wrath pre-patch. So I think its 3 until Wrath, 5 in Wrath if I am not mistaken.
Sadly we have to wait till wrath for that.
@@KnotxD Can you send another invite link please. that one expired.
Doesnt the draenei racial only affect pet? Isnt the 1% hit useless for ranged attacks?
Nah, it affects both you and the pet, the only small issue with it early is that most agi-users struggle to keep their hit down at times in Phase 1, but you can still manage. Phase 2 onwards on its very easy to utilise for a DPS gain.
Grat video bro, but you forgot to mention 2 crucial details. First the best thing that a hunter brings to a group, and i cannot stress this enough are traps. We all know how bad trash mobs are throughout TBC and traps are just amazing. You want to perma cc pretty much any enemy? Freezing trap, your lock/heal pulls aggro? Freezing trap. Your tank is dying or pulled to much? Frost trap and kite. You have a pack that has a lot of casters? Snake trap and so on .... And second of all Misdirection. The fact that you ensure perfect positioning at every boss pull is just great. Also helps a ton at every threat reset in the game. And if properly rotated between the hunters in the group, threat will stop being an issue and all your dps can pump without a single worry
Very true. Traps are great and MD trivialises snap threat so tanks can focus on sustained threat more than they could in vanilla.
How do u cast SS for 1sec?
In classic only 2 hunters were needed for pve and most big guilds with 2 raids per week needed 4, in tbc, raids will have less ppl that mean that the demand of hunters will increase maybe to 12, so ppl shouldn't need to worry about competition
I understand the Rotation, but why are you using the Multishot not until the second cycle and not in the first? why isnt it: Auto - Multishot, steady - Auto - steady, steady?
Im pretty sure he just replaced one random steady with a multi.
THREAT :)
The hunter is way more in-depth (PvE) than people realize, relatively speaking compared to other dps classes. If you really want to min/max you need multiple macros with different set attack-speed (unless you manually time the shots, which is inferior unless u play with 0 ms and perfect gameplay). I.ex. with bloodlust/rapid fire/improved aspect proc/dragonspine trophy and different combinations with these. I used to play with 5 different macros on private servers, and ppl were always amazed why my dps was higher than the other hunters in same gear.
You can adjust your macro to automatically adjust your reset=x speed so it always accounts for speed changes
Where can I find macros for these? This is interesting and I would like to learn more.
You also need a shrine set up in you room. You must pray to the stars, to orion just before every raid and give an offering if you want to min/max properly.
@@Brendan123ization how
@@Brendan123ization you can not do that in tbc classic
no mention of pets? ravager to start and later on wind serpent with enough crit?
True I did leave out pets. That is what I've seen on the hunter discord yeah. Cats are also fine but Ravager into Wind Serpent seems to be the best option.
Blood fury works with ranged ap in tbc?
Yep, TBC changes it to flat AP for both melee and ranged for Hunters, Warriors and Rogues.
Can someone tell me what the hunter macro is
I need it too
i got one question, which pet should i choose for raiding ?
Ravager early to mid game, late game its my understanding that Wind Serpents outscale and become best.
@@KnotxD thanks
How viable is Marksmanship in raids? I get that it has neither the damage potential of BM or the utility of Survival, but I haven't found anything conclusive about how large the gap is between it and the other hunter specs.
(I just really love BIG multi-shot hits)
I couldn't find anything on MM too outside of mentions that it's really far behind. I suspect with full armor pen gear it's actually pretty good in late game PVE.
I mean, _someone_ still needs to go LW so at least one person has Drums though, right? It's still a huge buff, and now that people are min/maxing so much as long as whatever Blizzard is going to do (probably the Tinnitus debuff) doesn't stop you from getting Lust, I still think Lust followed by Drums will still be super popular in most fights.
For sure, I had this statement in a former version of the script, had some timing issues on this one. Hunter is certainly a good choice for drums even in a nerfed form given the mentioned lack of huge incentive to take the usual suspects.
I’m guessing in random BGs they can melt face since it isn’t as structured as arena?
For sure, just like in Vanilla, Hunters that play well and manage the game are really really effective, its just the smaller format where they struggle a bit. With that said though, Druid/Hunter in 2s is very strong playing that resource game, especially in S3 and beyond. Likewise, double healer MM hunter is pretty obnoxious, particularly from S3 also.
@@KnotxD Okay, cool. Thanks for the reply! I'm not one for structured PvP so random BGs are my thing.
Yararlı video. Teşekkürler 💐
One thing that should be changed here, is that especially if you’re going survival, get savage strikes. Steady shot macro and 2.7 weapons are no longer bis in tbc. 3.0 weapons are, and melee weaving is still a 10% dps increase just like in classic
One big downside worth mentioning is the cost of consumables, at least in a min-max scenario. If you are a player who often finds themselves low on cash/is not much of a farmer, this class might not be for you if you plan on trying to squeeze every last bit of dps out of your character. (Flask, agi scroll, agi + str scroll for pet, fel mana potion, haste potion, dark/demonic rune etc. assuming things work as they do on private servers)
good thing I have 25k coming into TBC :)
this isn't a con to hunters. every mana using class has the same quantity of consumes you mention and certain classes such as the Feral Druid use exactly the same consumes you mention to an even larger degree.
@@berrywarmer11 I'm not sure what else to say except that you are just flat out incorrect about that...
@@TheSeminexus ? then you should explain HOW he’s incorrect. Otherwise you aren’t saying much and should’ve probably not replied
@@sekijou3622 I thought it was kind of obvious that a feral druid for example does not have a pet and therefore does not need scrolls for pet etc. All casters have cheaper cons due to not needing scrolls and ofc non-mana users dont need to worry about mana potions. Original point still stands that hunters have a tought time with cons if you are looking to minmax. Hope that cleared it up.
what about how to spend our pets training points ?
Good question, to be honest, that is best for the Hunter discord, I didn't look into that specifically. I linked a permanent invite link to a recent commet :)
Is it true you shouldn't use the troll racial with bloodlust up? If so, I'm hoping an extra CD outside of Lust phases is enough to close the gap between orc and troll racials
For most classes you stack them but it's a very good question for Hunter given the steady/auto weaving, I think that's definitely a question that probably requires a sim tool to be sure on. Sounds like Watchyoursixx isn't too far away from finishing it at least. Once we have a beta client, we will see many sim tools for most specs be released which will clarify some of the finer details thankfully!
I thought dungeon set was bis until t5?
It is. You use the 4 pieces that don't conflict with ebon netherscale or primal strike for the pre-raid Bis. But honestly, I wouldn't take LWing and the gold cost for such short lived items.
@@KnotxD oh okay that makes sense!
You still need lw eventually for drums and sunwell patterns, so it’s better to take lw while it’s still cheap. but yes, there’s many items that can replace lw chest
@@dayrenist LW also gives the BIS enchant, although somebody else could make it for you i guess
Rocking SV
for ma hunter guess ill go leather working and jewel crafting! nice man thanks for the video

Only downside is that in pvp it's really hard to become good with a hunter and most people just play an alt like a priest, a rogue, a lock, a druid or a mage.
you mentioned a Hunt discord?
discord.gg/4J8VuWqj
noob here, no serpent sting or arcane shots?
Nah, niether really compete with steady shot, its a pretty absurd spell in TBC
@@KnotxD so just steady shot get ur autos off, CDs on CD and kill command after crits. Drag serpent and arcane to the recycle bin?
A note on using multishot - while it does do more damage than a steady shot early on, it costs 2.5 times as much mana. Mana may not seem like a concern since you can just go into viper, but the thing is, being in viper is a massive dps loss compared to being in hawk. Hawk gives you a straight 155 attack power boost, which is about half of a dps trinket at all times. The hawk talent is also a big deal, 15% haste is super big, it's almost like a free haste pot every time it procs. The same goes for using mana pots instead of haste potions. A fel mana potion (3200 guaranteed mana) nets you enough mana for 21-22 extra multishots. Say a multishot does 200 more damage than a steady shot at base, and buffs and crit etc bump it up to 300. That totals an extra 6500 ish damage, once you've spent the mana pot on more multishots. Haste potion would need to increase your dps by 430 in order to outweigh the fel mana potion - it probably won't early on when you are doing around 1.2-1.4k dps but it definitely will when you start getting into t6 and steady shot catches up to multishot. Especially if you are potting in conjunction with trinket/bestial wrath, tho you'd rather save those for bloodlust. It goes backwards too tho - if you need to mana pot in order to keep using steady shot in hawk, it's ceirtanly worth it. 2 hawk procs and you'll have outdone the haste pot, not to mention the 155 attack power boost you'll be enjoying.
Very true, I accidentally trimmed the mention of mana usage from the long version of this but very well said about consume usage, one thing I saw on the sim tool details provided by Watchyoursixx on Discord is that the different haste potion combinations with mana potions on longer fights is pretty tricky to account for but interesting in terms of possible outcomes. Will be interesting to see how the exact math plays out for sure.
Since the start of arenas, jungle cleave being op
will steady shot macro work in whatever client they using? some ppl said it might not, if it doesnt it will lower hunters dps
if you're bad it will lol, if you know how to play and arent a brainlet then naw, the macro isnt perfect dps either, its just braindead to use for the dps it pulls
@@veppy4952 I'm gonna play BM without that macro and fist all of you noob macro hunters dry
What are your thoughts on engineering as a profession for crafting ammo?
Engineering is reasonable. Sappers might be widely used again given the suggested drum nerf (they share a cool down). For ammo it may be convenient though if I recall the ammo for raiding that you'll want to use come from specific vendors and are stronger than engineering ammo but not 100% sure on that to be honest!

Ravager early, Wind Serpent from P3 onwards (might be a bit sooner, not 100% sure)
The main problem I have about this guide is the discussion about rotation, which is filled with errors. There's NEVER a situation when you cast steady twice before you auto shot. The most common rotation is the 5:5:1:1 rotation, commonly known as French rotation. Most people will just steady shot / ms once per auto shot, but there's never a case for double steady per one auto.
do you have warlock videor and shadow priest video?
Yep they are in the playlist with this one :)

I hope u read that:Ur example was a bow with 2,1sec speed and 2 1s steadyshots... - my steady shot is 1,5s

sorry but haste is not in the game at this point or ? i have not seen any item with haste
Haste is in the game. Just very rare. Abacus of Violent Odds for example.
The fact that multi shot is still in the ST rotation!!😂 no wonder hunters are known for pulling
should add fd at the end of the first MS
clears agro
Around 6:54 you make it look like you can squeeze in 2 steady shots in a 2.1 sec window. This is however not possible because, although the cast time of steady shot may be 1 sec, the global cooldown stays at 1.5 seconds regardless of how much haste you have.
Good highlight, clearly wasn't using my brain properly when making the example time stamps, my bad! Should have got for 3.1 ha
why do i see so many NE hunters in PvP, but no mention of them here
Thats classic not tbc
Well PvP format matters too. There's value beyond stealth drinking in BGs cause flag defence etc as Nelf. However in Arena format it's just not anywhere near as impactful compared to shutting down a rogue kill attempt for example.
Stoneform is really underrated by the broader community going into TBC but its really good for arena for several classes even though not quite in that Will of the Forsaken tier.

Re: PvP, if TBC Classic follows real TBC for Season 1 5v5 will be the best way to get Arena Points and you will definitely see Hunters there. I seem to remember Survival for the utility was the spec of choice there.
Yeah, it seems like most people are only talking about 2s and 3s for some reason considering those as "more competitive," but 5s will still exist and hunters don't have to be S1 BM in 2s or later seasons Marks hunters in drain comps. I think you are right about there being a place for other talent builds in 5s especially.
@@mcfarvo So my memory is pretty crap at this point, but I seem to remember in S1 the number one team on our server/battle group ran a Survival Hunter for Entrapment and the extra Health.
Also, in Season 1 5v5 gave more Arena Points than ether 3v3 or 2v2 because Blizzard was really pushing it as the "real PvP" meta, but it was just so hard to follow/watch from a spectator perspective they quickly shifted to 3v3 as the focal point.
So hopefully 5v5 will still be "best" for Arena Points and will be a way to go because you get crazy comps there so it'll be a lot more fun than seeing RMP for the 10th time in a row. ;)
@@mcfarvo From my perspective I avoid 5s as its very chaotic and very difficult to discuss accurately since there's so many compositions. That plus the fact it's often not heavily supported by private servers, just isn't easy to cover or engage with. But it's definitely been mentioned to me that 5s is often a good route for getting rating and your gear sorted etc, perhaps even because it's chaotic and less solved.
