As an older NASCAR fan and newer F1 fan, _Steve, keep this track._ This is entertainment, *and* is hella good for both driving skill and adaptation to various conditions under a street course. Legit, the most interesting race on the calendar.
Agree I think it’s good to show the skill of these drivers on more than just ovals. Yes ovals are challenging but there is something special bout seeing a Cup car on streets and roads
I never imagined that the downtown streets of my hometown would be the site of NASCAR, and I think it's awesome! Seeing the streets signs, Michigan Ave., the Chicago skyline, the loyal fans sitting with their clear rain ponchos on, even the unintentional spills against the tire impact safety barriers, reminiscent of an old "Speed Racer" episode, driving in Chicago, period, would be a perfect training ground for professional racers anywhere, really enjoyed the broadcast!,
They tried these street tracks before - they never work cuz foreigners keep coming here and beating the locals and making them look slow.. i give it 10 years and they’ll be cancelled again
Without a doubt, Nascar needs to stay in Chicago. But I would do one thing and that's reconfigure the course for longer straighaways like down LSD to Roosevelt and then up Michigan Ave. Seeing cars go upwards of 160+ mph at Chicago would be insane.

With no rain this could be one of the best tracks on the schedule. We saw it with the XFinity race. Just give us a few extra years on that contract Chicago
Even with rain is still fun! This race was so unpredictable, everyone had eyes on SVG but he retired early due to an incident, and it looked like Bell had it but do to time is was Bowman with the win.
Gotta hand it to NASCAR....they promised a race and by all means some 6 hours later they delivered, gotta love the perseverance. I really liked the shots of the cars coming out of a corner with city traffic and CTA trains in the background.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a plan in the works when he was racing the x. Finity series Larsen try to put him in the wall, cut his nose off and did everything possible 4, the other driver to not win?
We'll just pretend that Larson didn't do the exact same thing later in the race, sure thing. The truth is that this course is brutal in the rain and it's bound to happen, even to the best of them. Sucks for SVG but guess he can't win them all, right?
All those McDonald and xfinity etc endorsements,banners signs and decals I put them on with my crew went all the way from Florida to Chicago to put those up! So cool to watch our work on tv lol🔥🔥🔥
2 years in a row too. I live here. It messes up my commute but I don't care. It's a fun race. Wish NASCAR did more street/road courses. They're signed on for one more year. I think they're in negotiation to extend it longer.
New NASCAR fan after attending this awesome race over the weekend in Chicago! Great street track and well-organized event overall. The rain was such a bummer, waiting it out for over an hour but I’d definitely go again and our toddler had a blast
@@shanegamroth3491 no svg doesn't currently .. NASCAR is mostly oval tracks, svg needs to get more custom to that type of racing. To be real factor, he needs to improve and not just be rushed up to the cup series.

So many people have called for SVG to get more experience on ovals in Xfinity before transitioning to Cup.. Yet he's still able to pass guys and consistently finish in the top 15 on ovals without crashing and taking people out.. Unlike these so called best drivers in the world who can't keep their car underneath them when the roads wet. Now ya'll gonna cry.. 'they have no experience in the wet" Well now you know what SVG is up against and the stella job he's doing with no experience on ovals, but he's doing a much better job than these top tier cup guys by not crashing, not taking others out and finishing races.
Agree. On the ovals he has been very sensible and respected his equipment and others. Hopefully part of that equals speed up his sleeve for the playoffs

I like how NASCAR has added more road races. This is much better racing, not traditional, but change or become.... Exciting stuff. I might just watch it along with F1 and F1e, and I love my 24 hour races!!!
I really wish that most of the NASCAR races started earlier like they used to. This race in particular especially should have started earlier after what happened last year. Id like to see them try this race again next year but do it even earlier that maybe in the third attempt they can complete all of the scheduled laps.
Kudos for nascar taking on Chicago after the failure of Chicagoland speedway. Problem I see is a lot of competitive cars simply got taken out in bad wrecks through no fault of their own. Way too many.
I wish all these drivers knew how to actually drive and didn’t just wreck everyone or themselves. It really sucks watching these races and seeing the same guys crash each other and themselves week after week and then with all those cautions add another stage caution to it. It really kills the flow of these races. NASCAR should consider taking away stage cautions and/or reduce the number of cars on track.
They put too many cars on the track, first of all. And the races are too long. Cut 1/3 of the field out (at every track) and cut the length of the races in half

When this was announced, i was a bit Wary if this was a good idea or just a gimmick. Or if it would be an entertaining race, but other then the darn rain, i love this road course and true skill of the drivers. I want this to spread to other cities too. Chicago also turns out to look so darn beautiful in the background. Though i feel bad there are no spots for the RV's to watch.
i dont get the original start Larson was the pole sitter and Gibbs was a car length in front of him at the line why wasnt he penalized thought original start pole driver supposed to cross first or does that not apply on a street course or just cause it was Ty Gibbs?

NBC had no idea Reddick was closing on slicks at the end. Awful coverage. Just giving Bowman the win with 5 to go. US racing coverage looks so bad compared to something like F1. Idk what the commentators look at. Look at a damn lap time and see the guys on slick tires running 2+ seconds a lap faster.
Thank you…they were stroking Bowman with 2 laps to go and I told my dad “Reddick is going to have something to say about this”…went from 6 seconds to 4 in half a lap. They didn’t even mention Reddick until later. It was basically “Holy Shit here comes Reddick” when he was 1.2 seconds back. If he hadn’t have brushed the wall I think he would have pulled it off
People complain about Fox, this wasn't much better. Mike Joy is old enough to make a mistake about someone's name, but these guys are younger and doing the same. Burton did a good job

NASCAR (Indycar, IMSA) don't have to lean on it as much because the racing is better. But doing the bare minimum so you understand why someone is way faster at the end of the race shouldn't be a big ask.
I dont know how NASCAR has gotten so lucky with the rain here. Hope they keep this race going, it could be huge

F-1 has one driver who wins most of races. And they only field 20 drivers.
