Always felt like the best part of Maze Rats was the collection of tables. Having the main 3 environments of play in streamlined page spreads works very well and is standalone from the system.

Strongly advise your players to always have their shield ready at low levels lest they get run over by boxcars rolled by the badmans! They give you the free shield for a reason!
A PC in my game got their head bitten off by a musical porcupine-tiger because he'd put his shield away to pull out a big spear attempting to ambush them. It did not pay off. X3
