Been using it for only about 15 minutes and already I think it’s amazing. It’s done everything I wanted it to do(like expanding elements from its center, which apparently is a lot more difficult to implement than you would think), and intuitive to do for the UI. It also has SLICES, which is a godsend for web design.
So, now that you have Designer, Photo and Procreate, why do you still need Astropad. I mean, I’ve even Kickstarted Astropad Luna, and even have one of the prototypes plugged into the back of my Mac, but I really can’t see myself using it, like, ever?!
Yeah, it's kind of a shame - I was completely over the moon about the prospect of Astropad - it helped me stop drooling over the massive Cintiqs! But when I finally got around to using it, I quickly realised that I didn't really want or need it - I really wanted to need it, but I just didn't! Picking up an iPad and scribbling in Procreate is exactly 0.0001% of the effort it takes to get something like Astropad up and running, and then you have to sit at your desk - ugh! I think the Astro guys are doing an amazing job, and still think it's a great product, but unfortunately, for me at least, it's solving a problem that I just don't have :l Is it weird that I still want to have the problem?
That's so cool! I nearly jumped of my seat when I saw your video (and the fact that finally Designer is out for the iPad) pop up... . Also thanks for the Designer Course... I bought it when it came out, to refresh my somewhat limited experience with vectors (and my nonexistent experience with Affinity Designer). Now that it's out for the iPad my interest has practically doubled. I'm really excited! Also, Procreate 4.1 is a really, really strong release. I'm super impressed with how they implemented the new features and with how well they work.
I am excited. Has been a few years since i have done any serious designing. All the innovations and improvements for designers on the mobile platforms is reeling me back in...
Great short intro to the BEST vector drawing app for the iPad Pro in the market. FINALLY a professional level drawing/designing/vector app for the iPad Pro. Been waiting a while for developers to take the iPad seriously and finally, with Affinity products, we are there. Looking forward to more tutorials, because this interface is indeed quite different - maybe even better!
Been into photography and editing for some years now but only recently started on digital art a couple of weeks back when I got an iPad Pro and pencil. Your enthusiasm for the subject when watching reviews prior to buying it got me interested, and your enthusiasm for Designer convinced to buy it despite never having used a vector art program before lol. This does look like a lot of fun :)
I’ve just got this app, and am learning how to use it. I have used Serif software for many years and have never faulted it! Not only does it do everything you want it to do, but it is a fraction of the cost of the other high-end apps that it replicates without any problems. Thanks for sharing this great overview, and I hope it encourages people to get the app.
Hello Brad! I'm playing with Affinity Designer for a few days and IMHO is SUPER AMAZING!!! Ok, it's still young and not completely bug free, but I think that it's really a game changer, a killer App. The missing link between Procreate (or Artstudio Pro) and Affinity Photo. I already know more than someone that is buying the iPad Pro only because now it can run Affinity Designer!
Have been happy that this is out after I bought Adonit Snap for my 2017 iPad. I am new to Affinity and this is the first step of my Affinity Revolution.
Honestly I say make the review while you’re so excited! There’s nothing wrong with displaying that excitement in a review tbh When you do make a full blown review, could you go into more detail about the pixel tools.
Serif really showed the potential of the great iPad, the second time already. They managed to get their full featured professional applications onto the iPad and still optimize it for the screen size and touch interactions really well, which is key. Let me explain something before I come to my final point about Affinity at the end of my comment: I think Apple is doing amazing with iPad and it is designed with other ideas in mind than computers, it‘s supposed to be interacted with in a different way, which many people don‘t quite get. It’s a device from the ground up designed to be portable, intuitive to use via touch screen and many things are different from what they are on computers. And that‘s intentionally and shouldn‘t be changed. While many people want Apple to make the iPad more similar to computers with things like mouse support, windowed apps, a whole file system with finder or even run macOS on it, I really appreciate the approach Apple is taking and the way they‘re designing a new platform. And every year they’re carefully and thoughtfully bringing in new features, like the dock, that brings the iPad’s capabilities closer to computers, while still maintaining their approach. The iPad‘s form factor has many advantages, compared to a traditional laptop: - The main advantage is, that it‘s one single device which is really portable and doesn‘t rely on anything like a keyboard and mouse, - you can literally pull it out of your bag and start using it, - you don‘t even need a table or your lap to get done some simple things and - many tasks are way more intuitive to use on a properly designed touch interface. And that the iPad is exclusively designed the way it is and doesn‘t also support mouses or tries to be more than an actual tablet, results in software being perfectly optimized for a great touch screen experience. And that is KEY for making the things I mentioned in the list actually work. Microsoft praises their full desktop OS and full desktop applications on their convertibles, but those programs are a nightmare to use on a touch screen, especially when the screen is as small as 10 inches. And because those convertibles are trying hard to be a tablet even though the software isn‘t made for it at all, they end up being a worse laptop as well. So it‘s basically a lose lose situation in most cases. Those devices are great for some people, but can‘t compete with the iPad as a tablet, not at all. And now to my final point: Serif, with Affinity Photo and Designer, showed that such a device, a device designed for a different kind of interaction which is more simple and intuitive, can indeed run really powerful software that is actually optimized for an intuitive touch experience. And that‘s AWESOME! The iPad with those apps is now super unique and no other device can compete. The iPad doesn‘t replace a computer, and Apple even said that they will be continuing the macOS system as they would be without the iPad! But the iPad can replace a computer for CERTAIN taskst which it is well designed for and in some cases is even better suited for. Things like drawing, illustrating, doing graphic design, even editing photos, are all professional tasks where the iPad shines with it‘s form factor, touch interactions and Apple Pencil. **And software that is designed for it from the ground up was key for all that!!!**
100% completely agree, I already buy convertible laptop for drawing and the experience is worse than tablet, even it's low end android tablet. (Actually the device is good, but the OS is worse)
sensoriussupremus Porting some huge professional programs sounds easy but isn’t. I could well imagine that they have plans for it or are even working on it. But such complex applications take lots of time to plan, design and finally develop, easily multiple years. So IF they are planing it or even already designing/developing it, it could still take years for a public release. And Apple would not tease any work in progress so we really can just wait and see. On top of that, professional video editing software is even way more complex than photo editing software. We’ve seen how much time it took for professional photo editing software to come to the iPad, Serif worked on the iPad versions of their software for some years, so video editing software will at least take another couple of years to be more advanced than something like LumaFusion. You should also keep in mind that computers exist since decades and all those professional programs we nowadays use on them (Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Premier Pro, ...) all took many many years to develop, evolve and improve, for them to be at a level they are today. And iPad is still quite a new platform compared to computers. And porting a computer software to iPad is not easy at all, since the platform is really different, as I explained in my comment. The WHOLE interface has to be rethought, pretty much like Serif had to do it, but for video editing it’s just even more complex. The iPad and its iOS are evolving, the applications for it as well. And we’re going to see more and more on it in the next few years, hopefully. And as a final note, Apple is making an amazing platform and wants third party developers to do amazing things on it. We’ve seen how much Apple pushes developers, and I could well imagine that they’re NOT going to do something like Final Cup Pro for iPad but some amazing third party developers will make something amazing. We already have LumaFusion which is the most powerful mobile video editing software. And Serif, who exist for quite some time already, started out with their Affinity product line in 2014 I think (and it’s what really made them popular) and did some huge stuff within the last 4 years, and we’ll see many other great teams doing amazing stuff for iPad. We can expect a lot of professional software to come to the iPad, but we have to give it some time. :)
Awesome updates dude. I get so happy when I see a notification from you. Affinity designer looks amazing. Exactly the Application I have been waiting for to transfer my learning curve to a more vector base. Keep us updated on the App based course. Peace.
Hi Brad, I just wanted to tell you I happened to catch this video of yours and finally started paying attention to Affinity software. All I can say is I can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner. Designer and Affinity Photo are absolutely brilliant. So brilliant in fact that I am contemplating switching to their software entirely from Adobe‘s. I have used Adobe software ever since I have been a designer. It’s great stuff as we all know, but Affinitys ability to work across all my devices is a huge development. Essentially, a game changer. My question to you is, I’m more than willing to use Affinity photo for my photographic image based work. The only missing link for me is what is the best approach for dealing with my photography shoots. I am heavily invested in Adobe light room. What would you recommend as an alternative to light room if I decide to no longer subscribe to Adobe creative cloud? I also wanted to mention, that I think you are really good at what you do. Your instructional videos are very informative and engaging. Well done!
Hey Brad, for the course I think you don't need to re-do the entire work. Affinity just makes a series of video-tutorials that explain the interface and the various functionality of the app. It's not a course, it's just an introduction tutorial, but if a user watch it before watch your course it will not be hard at all to follow you
Brought this as soon as it came out. I have the desktop apps and I have Affinity Photo for the iPad. I’ve even cancelled my Adobe subscription because of these apps. And I got say this on the iPad is awesome :)
I too recently bought the IPad 2018 about a week ago as an amateur artist (very amateur lol), and it is absolutely amazing! There is no other drawing tablet for this price that are nearly this amazing to use! Procreate and the Apple Pencil as a combo are so wonderful to draw with, and it runs so well with very little lag or parallax. The screen is the perfect size (if you’ve used the iPad Pro or another larger drawing tablet it might seem a little small, but it is by no means crammed, but it is perfect for me in my opinion). Definitely worth it in my opinion, and this is coming from a broke teenager, so I make my purchases carefully! If it wasn’t worth it I would have returned it already! 😂
How does vector and raster relate in this app? For example, if one is using a vector program, how does the raster come into play? Also, can you export the raster part as vector? Thanks. Nice video!
So....only 'low down' is... that it IS a good tablet app, adapted to the device... instead of those desktop clones... But I see your issue with the course.... Anyway, this gives you a chance of bumping both the desktop and the ipad version of the tutorial, if you produce an ipad oriented version as an extra... I'd call that an extra business opportunity + refresh/bump of the desktop tut sells. And u explain really well, so, kind of sells are expected.
Awesome video, thanks ! You made me download the app on my Ipad. And loved it so much that I wanted to download it on my mac as well. I was so surprised I didn't have to pay for the desktop version since I already paid for the Ipad version !
Sounds like exactly what I'm after - when do you think you'll have a course on Affinity Designer for iPad? Can't wait! I was going to invest in a Wacom Mobile Studio, but if all I have to do is buy a new app - Hooray! I've been a PS and AI die hard for years, and was considering learning Affinity Designer to see how it compared, but this is has just sped up that decision!
Hi Brad. I’m currently using Canva as my main tool for logo design. I’m looking to move over and stick with using ipad only but l’m undecided between Assembly, Procreate, Affinity Designer or Illustrator. Would love to get your opinion on this. Please help me choose the most suitable app. Thank you.
Hi brad, how can I import brushes in designer for ipad? Tapping on import brushes the AFBRUSHES files aren’t avaible.. is this a bug? Please help me I bought a brush set for 8$ and it’s a little bit frustrating
I think I would buy your iPad course if you decide to make one. I have never used a vector based drawing program and I’d like to learn how to. Only I can’t be bothered with a desktop version. I love my iPad too much. 😍😍😍😁😁😁
Now that I've had a couple weeks to use this app, I'm having some new opinions about it. On the desktop, it's still not useful to me because I still have Illustrator, Photoshop, and also Serif's DrawPlus which all do something better. But on iOS, it's quickly become my go to app. I used to shrug at the notion that it merged raster and vector into a single app. Now, I feel like this is pretty cool. But only because of how I work on the iPad. 99% of what I do on the iPad is digital painting, drawing, and sketching whereas I do all of that on my desktop, but also I do all the heavy editing there as well. The ipad does well with the drawing/sketching/painting, but it's faster to do the other stuff on the desktop. It turns out that I do a lot of sketching in raster layers, then quickly ink those ideas in vector layers. And by the time I'm done, I've gone back and forth a lot, mixing vectors with rasters to create a final piece. It's a way of working that I've never really done on the desktop and it's actually fun. My wife had been using Sketchbook 4 which she found easy to use, but performance was hit and miss. I was trying to get her to use Procreate but she hated the UI and the fact that the layers won't stay open. I agree with her about that, but the performance is far superior. Then came Designer I started really pushing her to use it primarily and she resisted like crazy because once she learns one thing, she doesn't want to bother to learn something else. Especially something more complex like Designer. But I insisted. Now she is using it daily and she stopped complaining. LOL I'm the kind of person that likes to pick up a good user manual and read it. I stop to test everything interesting and go right back to the manual. So, I jump in and teach her cool tricks here and there. Designer is actually full of tricks. Once you learn enough of them, the workflow becomes smooth. So, Designer has become the go to app for both of us now on the iPad Pro. There are glitches here and there. Editing anchor points, and also just moving things has like a delay...then they JUMP to the new position. If I edit to fast, grabbing objects, many, many times it will stretch an object rather than moving it. Which reminds me of a cool trick. Use two fingers to hold the screen, then drag an object with the stylus to duplicate it. It works, but many times, it stretches an object rather than moving it. It might be a performance issue. My tablet is the first gen iPad Pro 12.9 so maybe a newer iPad Pro does better. All in all, I'm glad I bought this app. I wasn't planning to. My experience with Affinity Photo was not good at all. I returned it within minutes. But after Designer, I bought it again. They've resolved some of the bugs, but it doesn't have all the gestures that Designer has. They'll probably come at some point. I find myself wishing that Photo and Designer were actually just one app. The raster stuff in Designer is excellent, but last night I reached for a magic wand and it wasn't there. I had drawn all of these fish with black eyes. I wanted to select all the black eyes and knock them out to the back ground. No magic wand, and no option to select all black on a layer rather than just the area that I touched. I ended up doing all of them one by one. Probably could have opened the document in Photo, and the option is "probably" there. I'm have to test that out to night. To see how fluid it is to work back and forth between the two apps on a single piece of art.
the company DrawPlus that Drawing program Serif Europe replace that with affinity designer so if you uses drawplus it like the same program you uses on desktop
Hey Brad, just curious, are you still using a matte screen protector on your iPad Pro? Also, are you importing you AD artwork into Animate CC to animate it? If so, can you explain how you do it (i.e. format, layers)?
Major Newbie here, at around 5:45 did you say you that was an illustrator file?! Im trying to learn all I can about Affinity as I am getting the iPad pro (i no longer own a macbook) and I guess it would be awesome if I could import illustrator files and work on them in this app... I never thought that was an option 🤔 wow
So have you decided if you are going to make a course for the iPad version? I'm new to Affinity Designer and really need some help. Your videos are great!
Good news! How the app work on new ipad 2018? Is it convenient to use, Is there any lags? I'm thinking about buying an iPad 2018 for working with vector graphics and some sketches when i on the way)
Hi Brad, nice video. Could you check the app, is there ‘recolor artwork’ feature like in adobe illustrator? Because that feature always help a lot when design the alternate color.
This is all awesome and I’m loving the IPad Pro with Affinity Designer. I just did a black and white logo in half the time it would normally take me. A few problems though , there’s no pathfinder tools like AI, no shape building that I can find, any work around? And how the heck do I save a native file to open in the desktop Affinity Designer? Please help me
Hi would a beginner be able to learn vector design / Affinity Designer using an iPad and an Apple Pencil, in your estimation. Or would the desktop version be the better way to go. Thanks!
Downloaded it, and it looks really good. Thanks for the introduction that made me realize it was just out. Anyway, I have a question for you. Being mainly a vector tool and lossless scaling to your hearts desire, what will happen to scaling and losslessness if you add a pixel layer? Will the pixel based layer not loose their quality as you scale it up? Hope I am making sense! Greetings from Norway
Was looking for a robust vector app for iPad. The free Adobe Illustrator Draw app is actually good, especially for a free app, but it doesn't have the fine tune features I wanted, and ironically Affinity is a lot closer to Adobe Illustrator's desktop program than Adobe Illustrator Draw. I like to use this for vectors and Procreate for non-vector digital paintings & sketches.
WinnieXOX I sold the first gen 12.9", along with a great Galaxy Book 12, to get a 15" Surface Book 2. I plan to get a more portable 10.5" iPad Pro sometime after summer. (How I wish Apple made an iPad Mini Pro, it would be the best and most comfortable sketching device ever!)
OMG Finally !!!! i've been waiting forever!!! mann what a nice DAY !!! the new update of procreate is finally out !! and Affinity Designer As well ! XD it's can go good more than that yeahhhy !!! Thanks for the Video BTW ! i always wait ur news :D about everything !♥ u are the best !! we will be waiting for ur next video about procreate's new update ! :D i am very excited to use both of them :D
Ya, photo retouching. But I was looking for a program that would tether my ipad pro to act as a tablet. I use Photoshop since it streamlines with my workflow. Thanks!
Men, you are the best. I was confused about to star to drawing again, but, be cause of your videos I get an iPad Pro and start to make digital drawing.👌🏾 I really like your videos, and Pls make the course of Affinity Designer for iPad, I will buy it🙌🏾
This looks like it could really speed up my workflow working with vector illustrations. If you do decide to make an iPad course for this app, id be very interested!
Hey Brad, thanks for the vid - have been waiting for this to come out for a while and have enjoyed playing on it so far. I’m not familiar with the desktop version, but do you know of a way on the iPad version to reset a single node handle? As opposed to just dragging the handle back to the node which is a little inaccurate. In Illustrator the equivalent would be clicking on a handle using the convert point tool. Thank you, enjoyed the vid!
Hi Brad, do you know of an approximate time possibly when you’ll be releasing a Affinity Designer for iPad tutorial? I’m looking for it on udemy as that’s the place I purchase your other lessons. You teach so well!! Thanks for all you do ~Mark
Hey Brad, thank you for your video. Incredible work 👍🏾 What do you think for iPad Air 2 and ADONIT Pixel? Because it’s little expensive for an app and I want to be sure it’s okay before my purchase 🙁
Nice overview thanks. Would it work well for scale drawings, such as floor plans etc? I'm currently a Corel Draw user but it would be great to use the iPad for my drawings. Thanks.
It could do it in terms of basic layout creation with traditional tools. Graphic for iPad or Desktop has tools specially for this such as label makers for measurements and some stock vector shapes to get you going. Great app too just not as robust.
Brad, I just LOVE all your videos! In the first one that I saw I had to subscribe :) I have a question though: Do you know if affinity files created on Windows PC can be opened on the Ipad Pro and vice versa? Thank you ♥
I like affinity designer it is really sweet, however, if an artist is thinking of buying either photo or designer I would recommend they just buy designer because they can both edit photos and they both have raster tools the only difference is the vector tools so I don’t see why they would need to buy them both.
I don't have an iPad in general only an SE so what is that thing on the top of your Apple Pencil. Do you take that part off to charge it and that's so you don't list it?
Serif is my favorite company as of a week ago. Have both Win and Mac desktop versions and the iOS app... as well as that book on your desk. ;) Next up: Affinity Publisher. i will buy it, just because Serif deserves it and their software makes me want to work on projects more. Love it.
Oh dear. I'm really not a big apple fan (let's just leave it at that for now) but lately I get tempted more and more to get an iPad Pro as there are not many (good) alternatives around and the available apps on iOS are just killer. And with this new video you tempting me even more. (I'm a huge Affinity Fan) Thanks a lot *sigh!*. ;-)
Jay Rinaldi i'm not a Apple fan either...at all! However, the Ipad Pros just have no real competition on the market since quite a while. I do have one for that reason since quite some time and couldn t be happier.
hi brad. im starting vector art and has bought affinity designer. i have done 1 or 2 vector art. where should i begin? have found good tutorial or basic on affinity designer ipad
I was hoping for this app for so long! Now I do not need my laptop for like 95% of the stuff I need, I can do all on my iPad Pro. Btw, Affinity Designer and Affinity photo have rulers? I think that's a basic but needed feature in these two. I miss rulers in procreate for example. (I just saw the new update for Procreate, forget about that lol) I also want to know how import and export options look like. Can I import and export AI files? As A Photo does with PSD files.
With Procreate and Affinity Designer, you'll never need a desktop again!
Loving it! Thanks for the Review Brad!!!
You've clearly not seen his review of the Cintiq Pro.
Get affinity photo too, its actyally pretty capable for photo editing.
Is it free.?
Been using it for only about 15 minutes and already I think it’s amazing. also Astropad fucked us over with their subscription-based version, so i dont have any pity for them.
Hey Bear
Seems almost as good as Photoshop?
You can still use Astro to turn the iPad into a 2nd display for using Mac apps not available for iPad
That's so cool! I nearly jumped of my seat when I saw your video (and the fact that finally Designer is out for the iPad) pop up... .

Looks like you work for them 😏
Awesome updates dude. I get so happy when I see a notification from you. Affinity designer looks amazing. Exactly the Application I have been waiting for to transfer my learning curve to a more vector base. Keep us updated on the App based course. Peace.
Hi Brad,
I just wanted to tell you I happened to catch this video of yours and finally started paying attention to Affinity software.
Well done!
Please make an iPad version of the course!
I always get excited when you get excited about a product
Hey Brad, for the course I think you don't need to re-do the entire work. Affinity just makes a series of video-tutorials that explain the interface and the various functionality of the app. It's not a course, it's just an introduction tutorial, but if a user watch it before watch your course it will not be hard at all to follow you
Purchased within a hearbeat as I received the announcement email. The desktop version served me very very well for the past year.
finally we gonna have a pro level up for illustrations and design on the iPad that can handle vectore shape and text!! :)
Brought this as soon as it came out. I have the desktop apps and I have Affinity Photo for the iPad. I’ve even cancelled my Adobe subscription because of these apps. And I got say this on the iPad is awesome :)
Omg, first Procreate 4.1 and now this! So happy I bought the Ipad 2018 and Apple Pencil!!!! 😍😍😍😀😀😀
Sylvia Foster how is it drawing on the iPad 2018?
Planning on getting one as well. How is it?
Balázs Viczán oh thank you!
Liv Donato ok, after I buy all my games for switch and a laptop then I will know my next purchase
How does vector and raster relate in this app? For example, if one is using a vector program, how does the raster come into play? Also, can you export the raster part as vector? Thanks.
Nice video!
So excited to finally see this come out!!! thanks for the great video Brad, always fun to watch!
You are the Best professor ever...
Awesome video, thanks ! You made me download the app on my Ipad. And loved it so much that I wanted to download it on my mac as well. I was so surprised I didn't have to pay for the desktop version since I already paid for the Ipad version !
Also, tapping and dragging on the studio icon to resize is a great hidden shortcut feature I stumbled across!
Thank you.
Would definitely love if you made tutorials for the iPad version, especially for us beginners. Thanks so much!
Please make a course for iPad :D
Serif's DrawPlus is by Serif Europe same people that made affinity designer and the affinity programs
the company DrawPlus that Drawing program Serif Europe replace that with affinity designer so if you uses drawplus it like the same program you uses on desktop
Hey Brad, just curious, are you still using a matte screen protector on your iPad Pro? Also, are you importing you AD artwork into Animate CC to animate it? If so, can you explain how you do it (i.e. format, layers)?
Hey brad can u make more videos about affinity designer... wanna know this in much more details
Major Newbie here, at around 5:45 did you say you that was an illustrator file?! Im trying to learn all I can about Affinity as I am getting the iPad pro (i no longer own a macbook) and I guess it would be awesome if I could import illustrator files and work on them in this app... I never thought that was an option 🤔 wow
can you use a normal digital pencil? and if so, which one do you recommend?
So have you decided if you are going to make a course for the iPad version?
I'm new to Affinity Designer and really need some help. Your videos are great!
Good news! How the app work on new ipad 2018? Is it convenient to use, Is there any lags? I'm thinking about buying an iPad 2018 for working with vector graphics and some sketches when i on the way)
oh, it's ok, i find the answer)
Thanks!
I bought it as soon as I got their email. This and procreate really put the ‘Pro’ in the iPad Pro!
The pixel layer will not scale well, it will get grainy as you scale.
Great video, Brad. Have you tried Affinity Designer on the 6th gen iPad? Can't afford a Pro but may get one of those for designing on the go. Thanks.
I’m thinking of using this for my business card design company. You think is a good idea ? I love apps that don’t have monthly fees
Awesome! I asked about this yesterday and here’s my answer!
Buttery smooth
Hey Brad... which iPad Pro are you using?
Freaking finally! I've been waiting for this forever!
Would you say affinity Designer is better than affinity photo for illustration?
Was looking for a robust vector app for iPad. The free Adobe Illustrator Draw app is actually good, especially for a free app, but it doesn't have the fine tune features I wanted, and ironically Affinity is a lot closer to Adobe Illustrator's desktop program than Adobe Illustrator Draw. I like to use this for vectors and Procreate for non-vector digital paintings & sketches.
Man, Procreate 4.1 and this all in the same day...
I miss not having an iPad Pro anymore. :-/
It was like a holiday
Stefano Azzalin what happened to your iPad Pro
WinnieXOX I sold the first gen 12.9", along with a great Galaxy Book 12, to get a 15" Surface Book 2.
I plan to get a more portable 10.5" iPad Pro sometime after summer. (How I wish Apple made an iPad Mini Pro, it would be the best and most comfortable sketching device ever!)
Maybe they will, wait until September. They are upgrading all kinds of stuff.
We have both sizes of iPad Pros. I like the larger for art.
Is it worth to go for affinity designer instead of vectornator?
Wow please do more videos!!!
OMG Finally !!!! i've been waiting forever!!! mann
what a nice DAY !!! the new update of procreate is finally out !!
and Affinity Designer As well ! XD it's can go good more than that
yeahhhy !!!
Thanks for the Video BTW ! i always wait ur news :D about everything !♥
u are the best !!
we will be waiting for ur next video about procreate's new update ! :D
i am very excited to use both of them :D
If you were using the ipad pro for skin retouch which app would you recommend? or are tablets still more efficient/convenient?
Like photo retouching? Definitely Affinity Photo
Ya, photo retouching. But I was looking for a program that would tether my ipad pro to act as a tablet.
I use Photoshop since it streamlines with my workflow. Thanks!
Men, you are the best. I was confused about to star to drawing again, but, be cause of your videos I get an iPad Pro and start to make digital drawing.👌🏾
I really like your videos, and Pls make the course of Affinity Designer for iPad, I will buy it🙌🏾
Will the files saved on iPad work interchangeably with the desktop version of affinity designer?
I purchased it and tried out. The answer is YES and it neatly works both ways via iCloud Drive.
This looks like it could really speed up my workflow working with vector illustrations. If you do decide to make an iPad course for this app, id be very interested!
Beware it is not great for printing
If I ever get an iPad id be getting this for sure
Viewed this because I just bought the iPad version. Please make more iPad specific stuff.
Hey Brad, thank you for your video. Incredible work 👍🏾
What do you think for iPad Air 2 and ADONIT Pixel?
Thank you ♥
Yes! You can open files. There is one feature that doesn’t port over and those are universal color swatches but the main files work fine
I like affinity designer it is really sweet, however, if an artist is thinking of buying either photo or designer I would recommend they just buy designer because they can both edit photos and they both have raster tools the only difference is the vector tools so I don’t see why they would need to buy them both.
Clip Studio has Vector layers and Erasers.
it's not true vector though, sadly. I wish Clip Studio had true vector, cause I love using that program.
@@thestrawhatnewb659 At least it's useful for lineart.
Cool video. Awesome app! Grabbing it now. My iPad Pro is smiling 😉
Wow this is impressive looking. So much attention to detail in the interface!
I don't have an iPad in general only an SE so what is that thing on the top of your Apple Pencil. Do you take that part off to charge it and that's so you don't list it?
I’m running to the App Store, I’m so pumped🤜🏽🤜🏽🤜🏽🤜🏽
It’s 20 dollars man
Deepa Siddarth Where do you live???
Fiji
Deepa Siddarth yeah it’s 20 dollars Australian
@@DeepaKrishnanS thats nothing.
It looks so similar to Photoshop with it’s tools? ☺️
Are there any apps for using text on illustrations? (Eg: for comics/ Titles, headings/ captions)
You can use AD for text on illustrations. It has very capable text editor.
Can Affinity Designer use text for comic books?
What about Fonts? How do we use fonts that are downloaded on our Macs/PCs to create typography works?
thx for the great news, excited !!!
Waiting for the new iPad pro 3 , it should power up the on-the-go solution to a next level.
Serif is my favorite company as of a week ago. Have both Win and Mac desktop versions and the iOS app... as well as that book on your desk. ;) Next up: Affinity Publisher. i will buy it, just because Serif deserves it and their software makes me want to work on projects more. Love it.
Is it allright with windows? Because it freezes every time i want apply noise effect on a simple shape
Looking forward to your ipad course!
I bought designer when I got the email this morning and was hoping you would do a video.
which ipad are you using if you dont mind me asking?
AND SOLD! Thank you for yet another fantastic review!
Does it have a ‘wire frame’ mode?.... like the 'View > Outline' in the desktop version. Thanks.
whoa you seem sooo excited hahaha, also the app looks amazing and wow so many features!! Definitely will try this app too once i got an ipad
Yeeeessss I’ve been waiting for this I can finally fully work on my iPad since I mostly work on Affinity designer already!
Are you able to use it with type or is it purely drawing?
Amazed by the gestures advantages in this app (from what I see in the video, I don't have an iPad)
hi brad. im starting vector art and has bought affinity designer. i have done 1 or 2 vector art. where should i begin? have found good tutorial or basic on affinity designer ipad
wanna apply course at udemy but unsure do u have it in ipad version
I'm working on an iPad version of the course. It should be out sometimes in September :)
Look forward to your iPad course Brad.
Is the pixel persona in affinity designer is just simply same with affinity photo?
This is crazyyyyyyyy ....take my money Affinity!!
Hey, man. Thanks for your helpful videos! Procreate just released an update of it, can you do a demo for the new updates? Thank you.
Artstudio pro and affinity designer is a great combination for professionals.
(I just saw the new update for Procreate, forget about that lol)
I also want to know how import and export options look like. Can I import and export AI files? As A Photo does with PSD files.
I’ve been waiting for this, excellent!
Can you please tell me how to export affinity file to Ai file without it being pixelated. 🙏🏻 or if it does pixelate? Thinking to buy it. Please help.
I bought your Procreate course and would love an ipad affinity designer course, I hope you decide to create one.
