Even this video being years old it is great. I didn’t know for example the dragging capabilities when doing the on the right side studio panel (didn’t even know that was the name of it)… color brightness, history scrolling, zoom scrolling… man these people know what they are doing.
after watching your video, it gave me no hesitation to purchase it immediately. Its an evolution of what we’ve been expecting to do on the ipad for years !
You'd better check out official tutorials. You''ll find out that buying this app you're actually stealing it ! :))) It's amazingly powerful like no others.
I recently got an iPad Pro to be my main art device. This is exactly what I was looking for! Immediately bought it halfway through watching this video!
What I am blown away about is the optimisation. I'm out of words. I use a 5 yr old iPad Air. And as of lately, I'm pushing its limits. I used to do all my design work in Procreate. Lol. After some amount of layers, it gets quite laggy. I downloaded Affinity Design yesterday thinking its not even gonna run, (the app is 1.6 GB) It ran super smooth. I exported my project from Procreate as PSD and opened it in Aff. Design and it worked like magic. No lag. On an iPad Air 2. Close to 70 layers!!!! Im blown!!
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
Learnt a lot in such a short time!! I just bought the app few days back and have been going crazy to learn about it. All the other tutorials have been so long and boring. This is the best so far... Thanks a ton!!!
A single thumbs up is just not enough für this video. You actually really showed stuff here that i wouldn’t have ever thought of. This app is even better than expected.
Dangggg I’ve been using affinity for 2 years now and some of these tricks literally BLEW my mind!!! Thank you for this amazing video, my life makes sense again, lol
An awesome video for an awesome app -- this pushed my hype level over the edge! Excellent demonstration of how Serif took the the imprecision of touch for pro apps and turned it into a strength.
I've only just purchased Affinity Designer and wanting to learn the basics of how to use it. This video is great - simply and clearly explained. Thanks
Best video I’ve seen for affinity design beginners it made things so quick and easy to understand !!!👍🏽 You might as well go ahead and drop more of your expertise knowledge in a full beginners course for us LOL
Is that iPad version of this app the same file format as the desktop (Mac) one? I'm asking this because when I on the road with an iPad and start a project, can I continue my same project later on my Mac Affinity Designer?
Very intuitive, it looks even more enjoyable working on iPad version than the Desktop. Very well done Serif. So good, it looks so user-friendly, powerful, affordable. Most important, IT IS NOT SUBSCRIPTION BASE.
Yup 😂 even with procreate being newer, apps like autodesk sketchbook are still behind and clunky to use. Procreate even out performs most desktop programs.
The software companies that take touch-based computing seriously are the ones that will be relevant in the future.......until Adobe rushes in and purchases them.
We’re probably going to get a 15 inch iPad Pro this fall, and Apple will finally give us final cut. Software is getting ready for the iPad to take over for most users.
I’m already using the iPad Pro for 99% of what I used my computer for..... I can’t even remember what the 1% is unless I run into the brick wall. Oh, storage is a Frankenstein conglomeration of things and has to be accessed outside of most apps. They need to solve that soon.
Awesome program! Seems to be well worth the price! It reminds me of the old Claris Draw (many years ago!). I love object-orientated apps. Photoshop has its place.... but this app is certainly a lost art. I’m glad they’ve given so much attention to it! Thanks for the information! Lauri
that's incredible what they were able to do with that app without have access to a mouse and buttons. Seems like a steep learning curve, but you will definitely be future proofing yourself if you start practicing now.
It's already done by Apple and it's called "Notes" :) Out-of-the-box native app. :) You just have to check out its features by reading some guides or watching some videos.
We always knew with the announcement of the Ipad version that Adobe would be concerned...Maybe they should have thought about that before screwing customers into subscription based purchases. It's hard to be loyal to a company who doesn't appreciate their fan base. Well done, Serif Affinity Designer. Way to think outside the box and show your passion for the industry, not your greed like Adobe. #lifetimeloyaltyearned
Thank you so much for this tutorial. This has saved me a ton of time in trying to figure stuff out. I am so excited that Affinty Designer is now on iPad--i prefer vector work, so procreate isn't 100% for me. I've been using desktop version for a year and love it.I'm seeing an upgrade to iPad pro in my future. Thanks for sharing this,Jeff, any more tutorials for this in the works--like importing fonts or more advanced options?
I don’t get the same fonts I do when I open up a job from the Mac to the iPad version I know it’s cause they are fonts I’ve installed to my Mac but is there any way to get them on my iPad ?
Serif is doing god's work, their apps alone justify the iPad Pro. Once my Creative Cloud runs out, I might switch over to their Desktop apps too. Since I prefer FCPX and Logic Pro to Adobe's counterparts, only Photoshop and Ai were keeping me around.
Maybe there is also After Effects and Indesign. Motion is more like a thing to have alongside After Effects too, and to the latter - I'm very excited for Affinity Publisher :D
thank you .... that was awesome !!!!! I have been struggling with this program .... coming from PHOTOSHOP ... this was very helpful .... you are AWESOME JEFF!!
1. When I draw a line, is there a scissors tool, or cut tool? How can I make the line cutted? 2. If I want to adjust the line, is there a smooting line tool? 3. If I select multiple shapes and divide them, can I merge them by the same color?
Nope. All this is already on official site. and accessible from starting screen, missed in this video 'cause it would make this video completely useless. Check out official page with deep and quality tutorials, revealing structural logic in their UI instead of this pointless redo's without any logical learning curve. affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/designer/ipad/#/
Sugar Touch that’s great, but sometimes you just need the quick and dirty to get up and running. I didn’t have to learn the internal combustion engine to drive a car or put gas in it.
Is there any tools similar to illustrator's: 1)scissor tool, 2)smooth tool, and options like 3) "select -> same -> fill color. I work in Adobe Illustrator and really like the new Affinity Designer for Ipad Pro, but I just miss these options.... :(
This is the first app I have seen that makes me think that the multitouch tablet interface is not a 2nd best way of doing things. I can see that once you get used to all the modifiers, this would be absolutely amazing to create with. Adobe better step up their game, there is a new benchmark and it is high.
Check out Procreate. It was born on iPad and is native for gesture/pencil UI/UX. It's for artists but this is one of best example how UI has to be rebuilt from scratch for mobile platforms. The only competitor was Autodesk Sketchbook, and it was born with wacom cintiq in mind without mouse/keyboard too.
Sugar Touch Procreate is nice, but good pixel based programs are easy to find. Vector based programs for the iPad are mostly unimpressive. Designer is the standout.
eight decay I believe it is automatically activated. And you can still edit the strokes manually. Serif made a lot of tutorial videos if you would like to know more.
honestly the greatest video for a beginner
This app suddenly made me grateful live in this century. I really appreciate your tutorial, how helpful!
Even this video being years old it is great. I didn’t know for example the dragging capabilities when doing the on the right side studio panel (didn’t even know that was the name of it)… color brightness, history scrolling, zoom scrolling… man these people know what they are doing.

The only business model that makes companies successful forever : make products so great that you turn your customers into fans
@Thomas Sselate
But I’d rather be a ventilator🥺
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
This is the perfect video for long time users of Designer on the desktop that want to get up to speed on the iPad version. Nicely done!
Learnt a lot in such a short time!!
I just bought the app few days back and have been going crazy to learn about it. All the other tutorials have been so long and boring. This is the best so far... Thanks a ton!!!
The BEST Designer iPad tutorial out here. Thanks...great work.
Thanks! This is my go to reminder video when it’s been a while.
A single thumbs up is just not enough für this video. You actually really showed stuff here that i wouldn’t have ever thought of. This app is even better than expected.

Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I’m a beginner with this app and so your tips are very helpful to me. 😘
Awesome. Thanks Jeff. There aren’t enough iPad tutorials for Affinity Designer.
Best video I’ve seen for affinity design beginners it made things so quick and easy to understand !!!👍🏽 You might as well go ahead and drop more of your expertise knowledge in a full beginners course for us LOL
Thank you so much for sharing! I'm currently learning how to use the app so it will definitely be useful!
For $20 this is a steal, i was paying a lot to keep photoshop and i don't even use it that often
Is that iPad version of this app the same file format as the desktop (Mac) one? I'm asking this because when I on the road with an iPad and start a project, can I continue my same project later on my Mac Affinity Designer?
I use the desktop version, it’s freaking awesome! ❤️
I would love to see a 2.0, more things to quickly do in Designer from you. Your videos are just the best! 😁
Very intuitive, it looks even more enjoyable working on iPad version than the Desktop. Very well done Serif. So good, it looks so user-friendly, powerful, affordable. Most important, IT IS NOT SUBSCRIPTION BASE.
I have to say, it is a joy to use.
I was so lost. Thanks for the video very helpful
I will buy EVERY app they make. End of story.
Is animating possible with Affinity Designer too?
Will be using this to create designs for CNC
Buy after I finish watching this! Delightful package
So procreate and affinity are basically saying "all other iPad art programs we'll take it from here".
Yup 😂 even with procreate being newer, apps like autodesk sketchbook are still behind and clunky to use. Procreate even out performs most desktop programs.
They snapped. I'm floored, adobe's wig was found in Corel's headquarters.
They‘re also showing Adobe how it‘s done.
The software companies that take touch-based computing seriously are the ones that will be relevant in the future.......until Adobe rushes in and purchases them.
Pretty much. I used to use sketchbook for a few of their tools, but now I can just delete it..
thanks for making this video!
Thanks for sharing, good video. May I ask how to relink image in this Affinity Design app?
We’re probably going to get a 15 inch iPad Pro this fall, and Apple will finally give us final cut. Software is getting ready for the iPad to take over for most users.
Yes. I like to see a 15 inch iPad Pro.
I’m already using the iPad Pro for 99% of what I used my computer for..... I can’t even remember what the 1% is unless I run into the brick wall. Oh, storage is a Frankenstein conglomeration of things and has to be accessed outside of most apps. They need to solve that soon.
I'm going to migrate all my work from the macbook pro to the iPad Pro lol.
What Affinity has done is great!
Dude love you man. Wonderful video 👍
wow.. i always get some new knowledge every time i see tutorial..
Hello! I am thinking about purchasing affinity. Is there any grids, guides or rules which can help me to layout?
How do we add more fonts to this default font list on the ipad? That is the most troublesome aspect!
Thanks!
1:38 - this doesnt work for me (swipe up/down gesture on the navigator studio to zoom) can somebody tell me why?
Awesome program! Seems to be well worth the price! It reminds me of the old Claris Draw (many years ago!). I love object-orientated apps. Photoshop has its place.... but this app is certainly a lost art. I’m glad they’ve given so much attention to it!
Thanks for the information!

So handy touch gestures. Would Love to See an App like OneNote from the Affinity Team
It's already done by Apple and it's called "Notes" :) Out-of-the-box native app. :) You just have to check out its features by reading some guides or watching some videos.
Wow you’re brilliant. Thanks a lot

Thank you teacher it very helpful.
Can you please let me know what Ipad cover combo that is and where I can get it? Ty
This app set’s the bar for intuitive design guidelines.
I don’t get the same fonts I do when I open up a job from the Mac to the iPad version I know it’s cause they are fonts I’ve installed to my Mac but is there any way to get them on my iPad ?
Hey, Jeff, how do I use soft-proofing in Affinity Designer? (To be able to see a preview of how my digital art will look when printed)
What an awesome video! You saved so much of my time!
This video has been super helpful! I bought the app when it came it, but haven't even opened it. Now I'm motivated to finally try it out. :)
How to custom gesture to adjust brush size?
Serif is doing god's work, their apps alone justify the iPad Pro. Once my Creative Cloud runs out, I might switch over to their Desktop apps too. Since I prefer FCPX and Logic Pro to Adobe's counterparts, only Photoshop and Ai were keeping me around.

Beware Affinity Photo IOS - it crashes a lot.
Neil Macleay use it all the time since 6 months never crashed for me.
Plz Affinity, make a video, 3D
, animation, and AE
I am currently learning design on Affinity on Mac and now iPad, not stuck in aí and switching to serif.
This looks better than the desktop version.
Serif = The Takeover
I own and friggin' love this app.
@9to5Mac is there a way to do non-destructive boolean operation like you would on the desktop version? 11:11
all booleans are actually multilayered masking. Yes, you can !
Very well presented. I learned a lot!
thank you .... that was awesome !!!!! I have been struggling with this program .... coming from PHOTOSHOP ... this was very helpful .... you are AWESOME JEFF!!
Very very nice!! Thanks man
Hi, is there a gesture in Affinity Designer for deleting selection? Like in Procreate there is 3 finger swipe. Typing on an icon is not that handy.
10:53 you see what happens there? it actually creates a new sheep!
😂🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
This app is so gesture heavy. I LOVE IT!💖
Thanks so much, a very helpful tutorial for anyone new to Affinity.
Brilliant video thank you. 👍🏼
1. When I draw a line, is there a scissors tool, or cut tool? How can I make the line cutted?
2. If I want to adjust the line, is there a smooting line tool?
3. If I select multiple shapes and divide them, can I merge them by the same color?
Thanks for this, now I’m going to actually buy this app!
I need help on making a grid guide for my canvas on affinity photo
Thank you so much for this video.
Really helpful thank you for the tips
Great quick tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you for all the excellent tips, Jeff!
I'm grateful that you watched. Thank you.
Thanks- this helped so much!
Thanks for this excellent introduction to an awesome app!
Wow ! 😳 The last one ! Is a big surprise for me ! Saving my export process 👌🏽 > suscribed
Impressed! Pretty incredible stuff
This is a great intro, really digging this.
*mind blown on the redo and undo* I was opening history studio.... ERMAGHAD
Great video to the point - thanks.
Thank you so much it's a really awesome video I did learn a lot thanks again
Can affinity designer ipad pro use keyboard and mouse .?
Can you adjust the bezier handles as you go when using the pen tool? That's something that ruined 'Graphic' for, as it is core to the way I work.
Yes, you can. Check out (much better) official videos. affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/designer/ipad/#/
Great tips Jeff!
Nope.

Very detailed.awesome!
Nice review and great tips
Does anyone know if you can import the Affinity Designer files into Illustrator or Photoshop while keeping the layers?
I tried to open an illustrator file directly from onedrive, and it worked, keeping the layers
So .. can you change perspective of an object?
Affinity Designer Mastery in a nutshell. Thank You for sharing
This is the first app I have seen that makes me think that the multitouch tablet interface is not a 2nd best way of doing things. I can see that once you get used to all the modifiers, this would be absolutely amazing to create with.

Michael Crumpton yes, serif shows the ipad to be as serious or more so a platform than *any* other computing device.
Check out Procreate. It was born on iPad and is native for gesture/pencil UI/UX. It's for artists but this is one of best example how UI has to be rebuilt from scratch for mobile platforms. Amazing tutorial ! Really helpful
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much ♥️♥️ شكرًا جزيلًا
The iPad with, affinity designer is all that designers need.
Man I liked the video in the middle and then forgot that I liked it and liked it again at the end
Nice!!!!!!
Does anybody know if this app is working with iOS 13 beta
How to use the pen pressure? And the eraser? Thanks
eight decay I believe it is automatically activated. And you can still edit the strokes manually. Serif made a lot of tutorial videos if you would like to know more.
The pencil works amazing, the best implementation of pressure sensitivity of any program!
Using pencil if you want to get pressure stroke
What's the best final cut pro alternative on iPad?
Allan Sh Check out LumaFusion. It is a pretty good nonlinear editor for iPad
LumaFusion is the best. That said, if Affinity wants to dabble in video...I certainly wouldn't object.
I can’t find affinity designer app only affinity photo in the store...
How do you enable the undo button? Very unclear.
