I saved and fostered 2 baby squirrels when I was in my teens. They became very close family members and although having been set free, never left. Back in the 60's when I would leave the home, they would chase and jump on me and crawl into my jacket pockets. The looks on store owner's faces were amazing when I was checking out and a squirrel or two would crawl out of my pockets. I am now 80 years old, and the images of that experience have never left me.
That's awesome. My wife and I rescued a baby eastern cottontail that was orphaned and she had a broken leg. We tapped her leg up and she did heal well and we eventually let her go out behind our house. She still comes to visit us and she helped repopulate the neighborhood with beautiful cottontail bunnies. Animals are awesome
My 3 year old daughter kept letting my sons bunnies loose and we heard, years later, there was a bunny population explosion near where we had lived on Ilse of Hope Ga...oops.🐰🐰🐰🐰
Amazing and rewarding what you did! I commend you for it. We live in Africa and my son grew up with squirrels as pets, some banded mongoose too. They all were our family. Enjoy them!!
Butters The Bean I hate to tell all of my fellow youtubers, Squirrel Fan is closing down, permanently. Thanks for all of your replies. Tell all the others of this closing reply, and thanks for your support. Squirrel Fan
God Bless you for loving them the way you do!!! I love all of Mother Nature’s babies!!! I cannot imagine living without them!! So many suffer... if we can help, why not? Thank you so much!!
my friend has a squirrel and he’s so sweet. they rescued it bc the mom had abondoned the babies but all of them died accept for one. they tried to release him but he wouldn’t leave bc he got so used to being with them.
They are so sweet. I raised Rocky the squirrel. He lives outside during the day and he sleeps in the drey him and I built together in the bathroom at night. I will always love him. ❤️
You simply bring tears to my eyes that in a world gone crazy with greed and violence, I see that some of us are still here trying to make this world a better place. I see the beautiful heart you have to help these little pals and also to help make your children more loving, kind and empathetic for others along the way. I feed about 50 animals per day at my house and my cousins. Nine feral cats, three dogs, three squirrels, 6 ducks and bunches of birds that all do more to make this a better world than all the corrupt, crummy politicians put together. You're beautiful in all you do that help others. May God bless your whole family.
Some of us see the beauty of the creation but others want to exploit it to feed their desire to be Gods. But the end for them is nearing at the door even for us great Joy awaits so be not discouraged.
CUTE! Love squirrels. Have one in the backyard that I feed and she brings me food in return, its so wonderful. She has brought me half eaten pizza and a chicken leg she found in a trash can apparently. She also shares the bread I put out for her. We just enjoy our yard friends so much. Your squirrel friends are so awesome.
I wish everyone saw animals the way she does. Id be able to sleep easy. But knowing there are endless pos’s that torture them, keeps me up working hard and never giving up.
This lovely women opened her heart and her home to these beautiful, impish little squirrels so they could join her loving family, and in doing so, she gave them the best possible life. She and her family have truly saved the lives of their two furry family members.
There is no greater healer then love and compassion and it costs nothing and brings so much in return.... And there is no greater love then the love of an animal, their love is pure, unconditional and forever. 💖
It's beautiful seeing all these good people in the world I love that the woman let open her home to 2 squirrels that were hurt or abandoned and taking care of them❤
I have always loved squirrels and have enjoyed feeding them and giving them water in times of drought. I've never had the chance to bring one into my home, but it looks like a LOT of fun. It's so heartening to know that there are good people out there willing to help animals!
This is so sweet. I have 2 little rescues that have thankfully grown up to be very fit and healthy squirrels. I'm dreading their release day, they're the most charismatic and loving little characters, I had no idea how much I'd end up loving them. But seeing them disappear up a tree will be wonderful - you can tell they always want to climb as high as they can around the house 😄
This is what happened to our family. We took in a baby squirrel and now it's one of the sweetest, most behaved pets we've ever owned. It always comes back to its cage, we took it outside once and it stayed with us and didn't run off. Likes to play as well
The weather here at the moment is freezing but watching this my heart just melted! Most of our neighbours look at squirrels as vermin and do everything they can to chase them away. The squirrels that come to our garden bring us hours of joy & entertainment - we do everything we can to attract them and make them feel safe. This time of year they only appear very occasionally but when they do it really brightens our day. Red or grey, squirrels are our fellow creatures and it is our duty to protect them.
SO beautiful... kind peep & lovely little furry squirrel... then another one! Bless yr hearts - yr children are going to watch & grow up caring too... so inspiring ...
We rescued a baby gray squirrel last year. He is such a hoot. I am so happy he was able to go out and be a wild squirrel. He still visits daily, and it's so special. I am so proud of him ❤️
People like this lady are great. They are open to giving love, shelter and care to any living being. Squirrels are so dang cute and VERY smart. They play/tease my huskies in our yard. It’s a deliberate play moves. So fun to watch.
My son raised a baby squirrel when he was a younger man. It had fallen out of its nest up in the corner of the warehouse where he worked at the time, so he took it home in his pocket and raised it. He and Chippy had an inseparable bond! When Chippy's crazy antics got too much for the indoors, my son took him outdoors and taught him how to survive there on his own. Chippy built his nest in the dormer of the house, directly above the sliding glass doors onto the deck. One day my son came home from work, and as he went to open the deck door, Chippy jumped down on his head & scared the heck out of him! 😳❣🤣🤣🤣 My son L🥰VED Chippy and Chippy L❤VED him❣ They'd play together outside in the nearby forest, with my son always teaching Chippy new skills, like how to find acorns & various kinds of nuts, and how to hide them for winter, then how to locate them again when he needed them, and how to stay safe from predators. (I'm sure Chippy's own innate instincts kicked in, too.) But one day things took a turn for the worst. Chippy happened to wander into the neighbor's deck door, which she'd left open for her dog! (Who would leave their door open, especially living close to the woods??? I guess the woman just wasn't thinking cuz there could be lots of critters besides a harmless squirrel paying her a visit, like: birds, insects, coyotes, snakes, rats, ratty people(!), and spiders to name a few!) And let me tell you, wolf spiders that come out of the woods are HUGE!!! I know because we used to live near the woods when I was a kid. A wolf spider got into our bedroom one night, and we didn't even have our door open! It was so BIG that dear Mom thought it was a MOUSE!!! Believe me, nobody was going to sleep that night until that thing was caught!!! Anyway, back to dear little Chippy: He wandered into this woman's house and totally freaked her out, so she told my son she would poison Chippy if he didn't get rid of him! This is making me tear up just thinking about it! 😢 So my son and his brother took sweet little Chippy back into the woods and let him go, said loving farewells, then ran to their vehicle & took off. They got home, all sad because they had just let my son's sweet little pet go forever. Well, guess who met them at the door! They repeated this whole process twice, with the same outcome! Talk about an inseparable bond!!! But that just made things all the more difficult. Finally, my two sons came up with a plan. They knew a place that they liked to frequent, kind of a hangout where people liked to go and play their guitars, and jam together. There was a restaurant there. The whole fun area was posted (so no hunting) & surrounded by woods, even had a stream running through it...just perfect for a squirrel! My sons went back a good while later to see if Chippy might come to them, but didn't see him, which actually was a good thing. I like to console myself by thinking that our precious little Chippy might have found himself a sweet little girlfriend💞, or that perhaps he charmed someone into taking him home with them; a kind someone with no nasty neighbors! We still miss our precious little Chippy Squirrel, especially my dear son & I 🥰. I'm sure that having to part with his Chippy was one of the most difficult things my son has ever had to do! Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful video. It brought back a lot of bittersweet memories, mostly of the loving & joyful moments, though. Bottom line...SQUIRRELS MAKE GREAT PETS!!! 🐿🥰❣😉❤😳❣😆❤😂❣🤩🐿
I'm so sorry for your son. It must've been really hard to say goodbye to your best friend. I too hope and wish that Chippy is living his best life out in the woods right now, both happy and safe.
Squirrels are so funny and cute! I tamed a wild squirrel in 2017 and I named her Petunia. She lives in a tree on my front yard and she comes every day 😊 I can relate to this woman very much
Did you have issues with mites? Sorry for being so late but I just rescued an orphaned baby today, I’m trying to find as much info as possible and after handling him for a while while bathing him I noticed small bugs on my hands, and while moving his fur around a little more I realized he was covered. I read up on it and couldn’t get many straight answers but it sounds like the mites from squirrels can’t do much to people, right? Did you have this problem? If so what did you treat her with?
@flat picker Mossy giblets? mmm. Mossy and Juniper hot cakes....A Mossy pre-workout shake...French fried Mossy legs and sauteed Juniper feet...Seasoned....Oh man let me stop...C'mon man don't eat squirrels, go to the Mc donalds drive thru instead.
Squirrels are extremely smart my best friend in highschool had one she lived 4 years she recognized everyone and had different attitudes with everyone she loved 4 people including myself
“She likes to bake with me. The minutes she sees the ingredients coming out, she’s trying to sample everything. We call her quality control” Me : *_squirreltouilee_*
I feed a family of squirrels every day- 3 x a day, for the past 8 years. They live in a huge Oak tree next door, but it never has any acorns, so when I'm downtown, I pick some up along the streets. All 5 of them have names- it seems to be a Mom, Dad and the kids. They are so adorable.
I just helped rescue a litter of squirrels, they were so young they were hairless and their eyes werent even open :(( its been a few weeks, and the babies are doing well and one in particular is very attached to me, and I may be taking her in soon, because she's been getting mad at the family taking care of her whenever she leaves me. They are captivating little creatures, it's so amazing to see into their world up close a bit
Bless your kind souls, so cute. My mom raised squirrels, after the first sisters came from a hurricane, then the third one got stuck and our basement pipe I'm not sure if it was the sewage pipe or not but when he came out he was really Brown so I named him chocolate. My dad got him out of the pipe. Lol
I've got a tree bottom my garden here in the UK and I watched 2 squirrels start to build a nest it was huge and took 3 weeks to build as they put the last twig and straw in their nest I shot them with my air rifle lol and ime still laffing
You are so above and beyond most people ! I love your little story I’m so glad I saw this. It warmed my heart !!!! To all the wonderful hero’s of animals big and small I love you all ! And most of all THANK YOU ! ♥️💋🙏🏽♥️💋🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽♥️💋🙏🏽♥️💋
longest recorded one is 24 years old. In the wild they tend to live 5-10 years as they eventually get injured or sick, but if they are lucky (or live healthy lives as a human pet) they can easily live 15 or more years.
They can be a hand full. Their urine also has a very strong smell. I just took on a baby squirrel (2 months old?) who has paralyzed rear legs. I will have to reach out to the internet so I can get some kind of mobility wheels crafted, since it's tough to move around only on the front legs. Personally, I enjoy having wild squirrels that know me (20 to 30) and feed from my hands, then go off to be with their kind.
I am now 80 years old, and the images of that experience have never left me.
how long did they live with you?
Loved your story. I love squirrels.

That’s awesome!!!!👍
Awwe bunnies !!? How KewwwT (cute)
I know this is an odd question, but how do you potty train a squirrel? Do they use a litter box of some sort?
My 3 year old daughter kept letting my sons bunnies loose and we heard, years later, there was a bunny population explosion near where we had lived on Ilse of Hope Ga...oops.🐰🐰🐰🐰
Yeah, bunnies do love to funk.
I rescued a baby , four yrs later I can’t imagine life without her . They are amazing little animals .
They live as long as cats and dogs do. They actually live tiny bit longer than dogs do.
Live long and prosper Mossy and Juniper. You have been blessed with a wonderful human Mom who'll take good care of you both.
Amazing and rewarding what you did! I commend you for it. We live in Africa and my son grew up with squirrels as pets, some banded mongoose too. They all were our family. Enjoy them!!
If you ever really want to know what love really is, help an animal, they think, they love, they remember.
very well said..
More than most people💙
For 20 years
Well said brother 🙏

This video is of the highlights. Not the negative. You do NOT want a squirrel....
That is really sweet and adorable what that lady did by raising that baby squirrel
I just watched this. Thank you for saving their lives. How are they doing now?
That was really sweet. I am so happy when people go out of their way to rescue small creatures.
Very true..
Thank you for basically being a wonderful mom to those very cute squirrels. The world needs more people like you and your family. God bless you all.
It’s true how that old saying goes, the older I get the more I prefer spending time with animals. They’re much more pure and true than people.
Yes indeedy-I am a true believer.
Fascinating how different the two girls are. Mossy is a zesty sweetheart, while Juniper seems very soulful.
Juniper is probably an older soul?
Wasnt juniper older when adopted?
They’re so curious, beautiful and intelligent! 😊🐿
So cute
Gaming with Scorpion J Liked😄your comment! 2Cute! 😊

two weeks ago I adopted an orphan squirrel. I love this video because it makes me smile so much ;0
She's gonna be finding nuts in crazy places long after the squirrel is gone and that's bitter sweet
I believe that squirrels can live up to 18/20 years..its a long wait till that bittersweet moment 🙂
In captivity it could be 20 years.
I hope she doesn't find my nuts.
Are you nuts? Not my nuts in my private area my food nuts you dirty minded freak. Squirl puns

I am currently up for squirrel adoption, please consider adopting a human first.
Squirrels are great.
What a pretty mom you squirrels have !!!
My son L🥰VED Chippy and Chippy

I'm so sorry for your son. It must've been really hard to say goodbye to your best friend. I too hope and wish that Chippy is living his best life out in the woods right now, both happy and safe.

I'm so thankful that there are people like you in the world
I wouldnt get anything done in my life if I had a squirrel♥
I love to raise a baby squirrel I’m a huge squirrel lover
Me too🥰
The only problem for me with these loving stories is that they are too short! Love them!
:) maybe create a love story of your own, taking in a rescue. :)
Squirrels are extremely smart my best friend in highschool had one she lived 4 years she recognized everyone and had different attitudes with everyone she loved 4 people including myself
Beautiful animals. Thank you for sharing and for looking after them.

Lol

She’s a beautiful Fox squirrel and so glad that she has a great home and life. Animals are so loyal and never forget…. Does my heart good
They live that long? Now I want a squirrel!
longest recorded one is 24 years old.
Adina Budacov .... Is that you, Veruca Salt?!? 😵
