Pretty sure that has nothing to do with it. Cats are predators but also prey animals. Having a bigger animal focus on them makes them uncomfortable.
That's the reason why the cat always goes to the person who is scared of them.
No staring & avoiding to them is no agression, chill & friendly person who respects bounderies.
So they seek that person out.
This idea that cats are contrarian is just humans projecting & putting humans body language or behaviour unto cats

So for Silly..it was the fact that Puppers was No Longer Trying to get her attention that did it.

Yes I DO understand that many animals have complex thoughts & emotions. Maybe use reading comprehension before making up a scenario of what you THINK I said in your head.
Instead of what I actually said.
Which is that they aren't human & therefore it is ridiculous to believe that they EXPRESS these emotions (physically & in behaviour) the way WE humans do.
This is like this foolish trend, where ppl were spreading on tiktok that brushing pets with wet brushes, reminded them of their mothers tongue bc they got teary eyed.
When in reality its untrue & many vets chimed in to say that this is a reaction to overstimulation & irritation bc of the brush being wet.
If we take this trend for example, since you need one more simple that can't misinterpret again ;
I basically said the equivalent to "cats & dogs don't cry when they are sad, that's human behavior."
And you essentially said ; DOnt yOu kNoW ThAt aNimAls hAvE eMotiOns & Can FeEl sAd ToO ???
Yeah I do. I never said otherwise.
I just said this was a misinterpretation of this specific behavior & that this is clear anthropomorphising of cats & dogs.
When cats are sad they are very vocal to express anxiety or act depressed like eating less or no food, being listless, sleeping more or moving less etc that's their behaviour.

I think those cats finally accepted the dogs mostly because the dogs grown up and became softer and gentler.
A lot of "it took two years" and that’s basically the time a lot of pups need to go from crazy energetic goofballs to adults dogs who learn patience and to manage their energy and how to interact with others.

@smoothbreak More like once Pacha was preoccupied, he was no longer constantly vying for Silly's attention.
Dogs bond by spending loads of time interacting and being active together, and cats bond when THEY get to be the ones setting the ground rules and initiating interactions.
Pacha backing off to play with the pillow finally gave Silly the chance to initiate on her own terms.
There's not a lot of things funnier than a cat watching a dog chase it's tail.
You absolutely know the cat is thinking, 'ohmyGAWD, you're the dumbest thing EVER, and I'm stuck with you. This is horrible.'
My cat plays with his own tail sometimes, and it's hilarious. He's an orange cat, but he's not dumb, just a bit odd. 😂

5 years ago, I brought home a very brave 11 week old kitten. He walked right up to our grumpy old dog, who was barking at him, and rubbed up against him. Clearly, kitten had decided old boy was his new best friend. The dog just gave up barking at him after a week of no response. Our kitten could often be found laying on our dog's bed with him when he wasn't off having kitten adventures. He even taught our other cat that our dog wasn't so scary. When we got the news that it was time to put our old boy down, our cats took turns snuggling him his entire last week. It was one of the sweetest things I've ever witnessed. ❤

What I like, is that silly can be regularly seen squinting at Pacha, which is how cats communicate affection and trust. So it was never that she didn’t like the puppy. She just didn’t have the energy for it.
Yeah, I think actually in most of these cases, it's the owner misunderstanding their dog and cat's relationship. Like with Beau and Earl - Beau batting Earl like that? That's them playing. They were friendly from the start.
I saw a RUclips video of a couple worried that their cat was not getting along with their dog - running away from it, yowling at it, etc - so much that they called in an animal behaviorist. The behaviorist observed them for a while, then told the couple that their cat and dog were best friends. The cat didn't play when the dog brought its toys - but the cat was older, lower energy, and never played with toys on his own anyway. The behavior they were worried about - the dog chasing the cat, the two of them barking and meowing at each other, etc - that was them playing.
The couple didn't believe the behaviorist. So he actually used a heart monitor and blood tests to show how the cat's pulse and anxiety levels were measurably lower when the dog was around and would spike if the dog was away from home for an extended period.

my dog (who is not small by any means, she's 30lbs and healthy) must have stayed with cats before we rescued her because she learned to sit on the top of our recliner. we were amazed she was able to balance LOL
When I was young, we had a dog and a cat who were best friends. They did everything together. When my cat, Scamp, disappeared, poor Benji was so depressed. We never found Scamp and Benji was never the same. This video made me smile and cry. I miss both of those fur babies.

That's exactly what my parents did. My kitten warmed up to my dog in no time.
It’s so dependent on the cat. I brought a three month old puppy into the home with two 16-year-old cats one 10-year-old cat and a 4 year-old cat. Everyone but the 4-year-old was ready to cuddle with him right away.
In my case it didn't work that way. I have my dogs for 12 years now, and last year we decided to adopt a one eye cat, and l, although the cat tries to play with them, the dogs don't give him an attention! That's ok for us, as long as they don't get aggressive with each other.
In my case that hasn't worked 😭 my cat would love to cuddle with my dog, but my dog is a grumpy old lady and is not interested lol

My kitten adored my old dog, but she didn't really reciprocate, and I felt so bad for him, so I got a second kitten after about a year, and now all are happy

We have the opposite situation in my neighborhood. I had an older feral Siamese I named "Sinbad"visiting my porch for several years, but no one could get within 10 feet of him. Then he met my neighbor's Maltese mix Charlie. Sinbad fell head over heels for Charlie, we was indifferent...until Sinbad wore him down with his absolute devotion. Now Sinbad lives with both Charlie and my neighbor!
I have an old grumpy Maine coon that became a kitten when I got my great dane. Then a year later a little 4lb grey n white tuxedo cat wouldnt leave my porch bc she was in love with my bug puppy and kitty. Now all 3 take over my bed
Years ago I had a 6year old doodle. One day I noticed a sick kitty in the neighborhood. His eyes were gunky and almost matted shut. He used to cry that terrible cry cats that don't feel good make. I'd go out and look for the cat because he'd follow us on our walks. But he'd never appear except for when I was walking my doodle. Over a period of weeks, with the indifferent help of my doodle, I was able to pick up the kitty. Today "Tiger" has had eye surgery and lives next door w my bff. Tiger no longer cares for or about my Doodle & my Doodle never did care. But somehow their relationship was key to capturing Tiger & giving him the care and home he needed. ❤❤❤

@OrsilloFanClub Yes it did! 1st, got the cat interested in sniffing the puppy vs running away, then the effect of the catnip is good at destressing the cat too. You may need to show the cat the nip first to 'prime the pump' then rub it over the pup 🐶 😄

I love cats and dogs, but what I love the most is if you know about both animals, you can tell they're both being careful when playing (after they've learnt what is too hard, which dogs pick up pretty quick or sometimes get just seeing the size of a cat) Animals are good at communicating with each other when they know each other to be able to play safely. Dogs and cats have different communication styles, but if they grow up around each other or are together long enough, they learn them and I think that's really neat, not unlike how we learn how to understand them too.

I guess Silly is an introvert who was put off by Pacha being too enthusiastic ("HihihiHowAreYouHeyYouWannaPlayILoveYouuuComeOnComeOnLetsPlayyyyy"), so once Pacha calmed down (because she was focusing more on the pillow), Silly was more comfortable getting to know Pacha.

My husky is like a cat magnet. Something about her demeanor just tells cats that she's warm, soft, and cuddly. She's raised 8 kittens so far, one of which was blind and deaf in one ear, and taken care of a feral stray cat. She's a 10 y/o service dog and I guess cats somehow know that lol

@ImNotaRussianBot Where did this negativity come from? I've had a cat (now two) since my 14th birthday. That's 15 years now. Besides, "independent" doesn't mean they don't need affection; they need a lot. It just means they're more self-reliant and like to do their own thing a lot more than dogs do. I could easily leave my two Munchkin cats alone in the house for 48 hours, which would never work with my Golden Retriever. Needless to say, there are exceptions on both sides, but generally speaking, dogs do require more attention. Next time you'd like to disagree and present a counter-argument, don't immediately try to insult and discredit a total stranger.

Yes. I’ve always believed that two dogs are less work than one. When they get lonely and bored, they can get destructive.
I’ve adopted adult dogs before that just didn’t like other animals. Period. So, unfortunately, getting another dog is not always an option. Some dogs prefer being the only pet.
Animals prove time and time again that when they feel safe, are clean, sheltered and have food in their bellies, they show nothing but kindness

My Yorkie had puppies in July. I trapped a feral kitten the month before. I kept one puppy. They love each other. About 3 weeks ago the kitten slid off my patio and spent 3 awful days back in the wild. When she was captured and brought back in the house, she ran to the puppy. They literally embraced.
🎉The joy of her return was celebrated by all. 🎉

Humans and dogs make intense eye contact and approach to make new connections. The OPPOSITE is true in cat society. Direct eye contact is aggression and threatening…and all that bounding energy to a senior cat (Silly) must have been maddening. This is the typical “cat going to the person ignoring them” pattern. 😂 Good work getting something to distract the high energy dog.
