    Dani,
My partner adored squirrels; he passed away, but before he did, I had introduced him to your channel and we would watch together, squealing over the squirrels...I bought your calendar for the first time last year as a gift to him, but he passed before we got the chance to put it up. Every month when I turned a new page, I would show him and tell him about my visits to our local park to visit "our squirrels". I just received my calendar for 2024 and I will do the same and show him each month's photo as I turn the pages. I hope to buy your calendar for as long as you create them--as a gift to him. Thank you for all that you do. This video has me sobbing, but I feel so connected to him and honoured to watch the beautiful and heartwarming efforts you are making/creating.
Thank you and much love, from Lee-Anne (and Eddie) in Toronto, Canada

About 20 years ago, I also raised squirrel. Funny, I also gave him milk through a syringe without the needle. Great minds think alike!!! The hardest part is as they get older, they get more wild. They pee and poop everywhere. You just need to deal. And eventually, you want to transition them to outside. But there are many dangers for them (so hard to let them go). I gave him a bird house to sleep in outside. When I later visited, I found a squirrel like him. Called to him. And he came down the tree and climbed on my shoulder (with his sharp claws). Anyway....Good luck!!!!

I get tears in my eyes when I see the little baby squirrel. Five years ago, when I was walking here at home, a little squirrel came running to me, it climbed up on top of me and sat on my shoulder and refused to go away. It sat on my shoulder for several hours as we walked around looking for its mother. We contacted vets in different places, all said the same thing: let nature take its course... I took care of him 24/7, fed him around the clock and he grew and felt good, he is the nicest animal I have ever seen. When he was full-grown, we brought him back to nature. We visited him a few times afterwards and he came when we called him. Hope he's still alive Love him with all my heart hes name is Pelle

I am always afraid that going to the vet means "putting the suffering animal down". And never giving the animal a chance to recover with a bit of love and care. Sadly, time is money in this world today. I remember seeing some kids bringing some baby squirrels to a vet because they fell off a tree. I knew in my heart of hearts what their destinies would be. I wish I could have just taken them from the kids and nursed them.

I rescued a baby grey squirrel in New York state USA. It's eyes were even closed, it was so young. Fed it warm cow's milk from a toy baby doll bottle till it could then eat soft cereal, and then nuts and bird seeds. What acrobatic little people! and Such High Energy levels! Let it free with an alternative food and water shelter, outdoors. It almost immediately found it's home in the wild. Love it Forever ♥

Next is her release which absolutely terrifies me. We can't do it here because we have a cat and dog...but I'm wanting to leave her cage outside so she can come back to it if necessary.

I was a Land Surveyor for 27 years. My wife and I raised and released a male and then a female. The male came back a lot. Then he bit me and made himself independent. A few months later when we released the female, she came back until mating season, she built a nest in a hollow tree, had a family, and went wild and free. Ruined my squirrel hunting. Forever. What amazing animals. He used to sleep between us on his back. Thank God for that experience. It led us to rescuing and keeping abandoned starving dogs. I had 6 of them for 7 years. Squirrels and Dogs actually love you. I wear tiger stripes and sit with a big camera in the back yard. Thank you for this video. Grace to you, friend.

Ever since I befriended a squirrel 12 years ago, I had visits from his descendants every year. His offspring take their children to our porch just outside my kitchen, showing them where their humans put their food.
The older squirrels travel deeper into the forest as new one comes into the world, but every year, we're lucky enough to get to know their babies.
We also have a large variety of birds who discovered the same feeding ground.
I can sit at my kitchen table watching these animals all day, roaming around outside my kitchen window.

This is the best story I’ve seen all year! I did a similar thing with a kitten and she lived with me for almost 19 years. You’re awesome to devote so much to animals. Thank you !

"Love Is All (Shine Your Light On Me)" by Roxette.
      Love is all
      Love is all around you
Love is there in your laughter
      In your hair
      Love flows everywhere.
      Love is old
      Love is older than you
      But the light shining through
      Makes me see
      Your love is all new.
      Hey
      Sha la la
      Shine a light
      Shine on me
      Shine your light on me
      Sha la la
      Shine your light on me.
      Love is all
Love will always be The Law
      And higher love radiates
      On us all
      On us all 💙💙💙

Hi Dani: I received your Red Squirrel Calendar in the mail a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the photos. Your rescued baby red squirrel is so sweet and adorable! I hope that you will create a 2025 calendar documenting your baby squirrel's rehabilitation, including stills from this week's episode of the both of you. 👩📸🐿 (chipmunk emoji subbing for baby red squirrel). This brings back such sweet childhood memories! When I was a kid in the 50's and 60's, I lived in a suburb outside Stockholm. Our house was the last but one before the big forest took over. During these years the, as the community expanded, more houses were built and trees were felled. Many squirrel nests fell to the ground and babies were abandoned. At least that was what we believed at the time. Our family always had a lot of animals, which we were known for in the area. So when someone found squirrel babies, they brought them to us.
I think that we had 7 or 8, one or two at the time. Some were very young, without fur and with their eyes still closed, and they did not always make it. I remember that I mourned one of them more than my grand parents who had recently passed. I had such bad conscience for this, I was about ten and clearly understood that my grandparents were more important, but... I remember the feeling to this day. :(
But most of all they brought the family endless joy, with their antics, and always running up your back to the spot where you could not reach it. Our dog, a fat old dachshound, had very mixed feelings. She normally hated squirrels, but understood that these squirrels were family. When they gradually were rewilded, it came to a point where the dog brain could no longer decide what they were. We have old 8mm films where the squirrels chase her on the lawn and ride piggyback, like a rodeo.
Thanks for your lovely photos! Nature is wonderful, and childhood memories like I described, eventually formed my life and inspired me to become a biologist.
