I want to use more of my Red Heart Supersave yarn in your projects, but they recommend an I hook. Do i need to do anything special for yarn that recommends a hook size down?
Yes, you might have to adjust your starting chain to get the height you need + you may have to work more rows to get the circumference you need. Hope that helps!

I think this would make a cute baby hat if you used a thinner, light number 3 yarn and smaller hook, like a size G. I may have to experiment with this to see what I can come up with!! 😁👍
