    Back in the day I had lots of motherboard fan failures. I've sworn off any motherboard with its own fan ever since. I used to own a computer store, and worked at several others, so not just talking about my own machines.
    So this is actually the only way I'd go for an X570 board.

    • @erikhendrickson59
      @erikhendrickson59 2 года назад +3

      And they tend to be "proprietary" type fans so the only way to get a replacement is to order one from the mainboard vendor -- and that shit will take WEEKS to arrive. If one of my motherboard fans died back in the day I would just ziptie a case fan to it and be done but nobody should have to do that for a product they paid for.

      One on my x570 pro wifi never turns on except during post,even on its most agressive curve, dont see it wearing out anytime soon, even if it just failed without wearing out i doubt it would be an issue. Airflows is not much of an issue with the 9 3k noctuas, might have something to do with it never needing to run!

    • @johndoh5182
      @johndoh5182 Год назад

      This hasn't been an issue for X570 boards. For one they don't JUST run, the chipset needs to be hot enough to warrant it so you have to be pushing a bit of data across the link for it to start running.
      So, I've seen people complaining about the fans existing, but a rare comment about a fan actually failing. Even gaming with an NVMe connected via the chipset, I don't have any issues and the fan is only going some of the time, mostly load times. Not a big deal. And these fans are much better than "back in the day". I also had a couple systems with chipset fans, never had one go bad. But I also didn't OC the link between the CPU and chipset.

    The block diagrams are likely separating things by iommu groups, so on the master the 2x m2 slots aren't sharing lanes, they may be grouped together in a single iommu group making it less useful for virtualization and hardware passthrough

    • @Aviduduskar
      @Aviduduskar 3 года назад +3

      This, I have yet to see someone post groups but it looks like USB got the same treatment.

  • @gscurd75
    @gscurd75 2 года назад +1

    On the master, you can use either the sata or the M.2 in one of the slots. For the other slot you can use either the m.2 or the bottom pcie slot. So if you plan on using all 4 m.2 slots then don't plan on using the sata connections or the bottom pcie slot.

    Wish we just had 32 lanes, 2x X16 like the old days (more bandwidth obviously).
    X16 gpu + X16 Quad M.2 takes up allot less space than plastering drives all over a full size motherboard.
    Even ITX boards often have 2 slots, A 3x bigger board just for 1 extra chewing gum sided SSD is dumb.

    • @fleurdewin7958
      @fleurdewin7958 3 года назад +2

      That is where U.2 interface should come in. There is just limited amount of space you can stick M.2 drives on the board. I do agree with you on the need of more PCI-e lanes. Unfortunately, neither AMD nor Intel want to step up. Intel merely reached parity with AMD with 20 PCI-e lanes on the CPU on Rocket Lake platform.

    • @tomstech4390
      @tomstech4390 3 года назад +5

      @@fleurdewin7958 keep forgetting about u.2. We have sata express, we have powered esata, sata group needs to get their finger out and give us powered sata express.
      Plug in your ssd with a sata cable and it gets power and a pcie x1 lane which at pcie4 is still nearly 2GB/s.
      That way people can choose between storage and graphics.
      I think well see pcie expand again when they run out of adding more cores.
      990fx had 32 through the chipset which is now the io die.
      3930k used to have 40 direct to cpu.
      There's no reason for 5950x to only have 20+4.

      How much sata do you need.. If you getting 4 full, then its already plenty for me.. X570S is way to expensive.. Got my self a B550 master board. The only sata ports goes disable are actually non.. Only if you going to use sata 3 port 4 a 5 , the last PCI-e 3.0 x4 slot will to down on X2.. But i will never going over 4 sata drives in my build.
      And the board can also provide 3x M.2 PCI-e 4.0 4x bandwith..
      1 from the cpu. and last two takes Pci-e 4.0 8x lanes from the highest PCI 4.0 x16 slot.. (for the 4 a 6 years iam using this board, never going needed more then 4.0 x8 bandwith for the graphics card. And them at least going to wait for DDR6 / PCI-e 6.0

    So not on this list because it probably came later, the Gigabyte X570S Aorus Elite which is a less costly board, and Gigabyte made this board like an expensive X570 board even though it's not.
    So for one, Gigabyte added USB3.2 gen2x2 to I think all these boards and I think they all have at least 3 NVMe ports which used to be the domain of expensive X570 boards so all in all THANK YOU Gigabyte. Throw a 5800X3D on an Auros Elite and you have an excellent gaming system.

    I own a Dark Hero, and as far as I can see, the Dynamic OC switcher has been made somewhat redundant by the introduction of Curve Optimiser, as C.O. is a "better" way to overclock. Also, Asus made an abysmal effort with the Dark Hero's manual; it's non existant. It doesn't even mentioned the Dynamic OC Switcher feature. You're basically left having to find and use the C8H WiFi manual.

As in, improvement over the 1900 that many are capped at at the moment. I have had 5 Zen3 CPU's now on my X570 (Tomahawk) and all cap at 1900 for 1:1 WHEA free. None at 1866 or 1933, all at 1900. Hi. I m looking for someone with a bit of knowledge. Can you tell me how many real phases the Asrock X570s riptide has? Do you think it is enough to run a 5950x or will it die prematurely?
    Other (might sound stupid) question: I saw that seasonic released some fanless power supplies (the highest potential available in my country is like 700watts for those). Would a regular PSU (with a fan) of 1000 watts work without burning if I simply remove its fan and limit its power draw (like making a PC with 700 watts total power draw to not reach the 1000 watts treshold) The power supply i have is a "silencer mk2 silver 950 watts" from OCZ) I m willing to make a Pc as silent as possible... thx if you can reply.

      No, its not. Hard to believe, but the 570s is exactly the same silicon on same node. Just google it, there are official statements from eg asus that adressing this exact question. The energysavings is done SOLEY by new Firmware/Bios that improved the efficiency. So even older non S chipsets/boards will benefit, once all bioses are rolled out.

    While on the topic of chipsets, does anyone know if chipset is required for overclocking in the context of Ryzen being an SOC, and that OEM such as HP has built chipset-less platform like HP with a knoll activator.

      I am not an overclocker but take this with a grain of salt. All ryzen CPU are overclockable. OEM boards are proprietary and some allow overclocking and some don't. How did the board makers get into saying stages in phases?
    Asus used cheaper controllers so marketing replaced "phase" with "stage" and hoped noobs wouldn't know the difference.
    Nobody called them on it (not enough). So "18 stage vrm!" using an ASP1106 and triple SiC639's per phase is the future as everyones joining the bandwagon.

The board didn't come with any drivers installed. And just getting windows to install was a headache. I didn't want to deal with it at the time, but a few days later it's running just fine. I don't know if that's just a Gigabyte issue, but i've never gotten a mobo that was missing drivers. I'd expect newer drivers to be missing, but it was missing drivers older than release date.

Because its already a good upgrade over my asus rog x470 crosshair hero -IV wifi AM4. That board have only pcie gen 2 on the chipset lanes.
    Why i didnt going for x570(S) because B550 is released later, so its newer on that point. X570S isnt worth the price premium they asking now in compared to the older X570 boards.

Keeping my 5950x below 68c in R23 multicore the chip and it scored great in multi, but single core wouldn't boost properly despite the lower temps. 5900x seems to be a mess on this board as well. The chip has single core boost issues even at low temps for both. MSI MEG works PERFECTLY with 5000 series. 5+GHZ boosts out of box. Amazing boost clocks in games 4.9ghz + on cores while gaming with some simple tuning to PBO.
