You talked about not seeing any evidence that operations were continued under Fullscreen but there is. Fullscreen is also the parent company of Rooster Teeth who is the parent of Funhaus. Funhaus is where all the original Inside Gaming staff ended up after leaving in 2015 and when Fullscreen acquired Machinima they took back the Inside Gaming name and are now publishing videos under that name and have access to the entire Inside Gaming library that has been featured on the Funhaus channel few times.

They had their own website called RedVsBlue.com that was later changed to Roosterteeth.com. Machinima would upload the videos in order to gain popularity from the series without permission. My guess is this was something Burnie asked for due to the reputation of Machinima stealing their content.

I'm a little disappointed in this video tbh. Machinima had so much history that just wasnt covered. Machinima Respawn and their general involvement with let's plays is so huge and I think a huge reason let's plays and similar gaming content is so successful. I think my boys Sark, Hutch, and Seananners at least deserved a name drop.
Yeah, this video seems to be pretty much entirely focused on the animation side of things. Which is fine I guess, but a little odd when they were known for so much more. Talking about Machinima the company without referencing respawn, realm, all the various big let's play channels, All Your History, manslayer, Arby n the Chief, and Inside Halo/Inside Gaming is kind of a shame. I did like the beginning of the video though where he talked about the early days of machinima.
I think this was more about the genre of Machinimas which has to address that the genre was subsumed by the RUclips channel, but it wasn't about the company and it's effects
One great thing about Machinima shutting down is that the former Inside Gaming crew (Funhaus) were able to get their name and videos back, so they put it all up on a new channel and now use the name for their gaming news videos exclusively and do their comedy gaming videos as Funhaus.
Also I really liked that “Freeman’s Mind” Half-Life series, it encouraged me to give the original Half-Life a go but that series made it look so much easier than it was. I have some real respect for the guys that made that because of how they pulled off this FPS physical comedy which must’ve taken so many takes to get without dying.
I legit thought Quinton was joking when he said Half in the Bag was on Machinima. I did some digging and lo and behold it was. Crazy to think people discovered RLM without the Plinkett videos.
Yooo I remember that 2D minecraft animation. It finished a long time ago and I watched that finale like two years after the fact. I think the original uploads are private now, but there are reuploads. Edit: Yup. Privated.
The story continues! Full screen also owns roosterteeth, and rolled all the rights that machinima had into rooster teeth's coffers. Rooster teeth is now going to be producing then next transformers series.
I know that one group that used to work for Machinima but then worked for Rooster Teeth which is owned by fullscreen got back all of their original content and even got to restart their video game news channel under the far more recognizable Inside Gaming. But that's literally the only recognizable form of smooth transition I can think of. And it wasn't that smooth since it was very abrupt but a welcomed change.
A few corrections about the RvB section. 5:24 - Red vs. Blue started in Halo C.E. (the first Halo) 5:37 - It's "Burnie Burns", not Bernie. Burnie is a nickname derived from his last name, his real first name is Michael. 5:45 - Calling it a "glitch" is arguable. If you point your weapon directly down the spartan soldier looks ahead. There's nothing special about it, it's just aiming down.
Mr Zogu lenin and Trotsky literally regarded the Soviet Union as a state capitalist step in the dialectical evolution towards socialism and thought that Russia needed to go through an industrial capitalist phase and thus dismantled the soviets (the actually existing socialism of the workers and other socialist factions) routed the anarchists and then finally turned the guns on fellow Bolsheviks when they rebelled against the state in the name of the socialism which was being dismantled by Lenin’s counterrevolution in the name of socialism
Respawn with Mr Stark, Hutch, and Nanners is peak RUclips in my opinion. It had the grassroots feel of just a bunch of cool dudes hanging out together making dope shit.
Ahh thankyou for finally solving a mystery from my childhood! I loved watching machinama shows as a kid, but I remember them all (aside from rvb thank god) just disappearing into thin air
I grew up watching smash brothers machinima, and to see a majority that was on the machinima youtube gone is sad, on the bright side, the smash brothers machinima community still thrives, especially since Smash Brothers Ultimate made the camera more easily usable for new people. Never knew it originated that far though.
I was hoping you would briefly touch upon noted Machinima auteur Digitalph33r since he was such an important creator for the network, but a part of me feels like he warrants a whole video to himself. It's crazy to think how many people grew up watching shows like Arby'n'the chief, Deus Ex Machina, and I think there was one called One Life Remaining? Clearly my brain decided this was worthy of clinging onto, though maybe that's a good thing, otherwise I'd be sure I dreamed the whole thing. I distinctly remember that Deus Ex Machina for example was popular enough that it got it's own recurring parody series, with about as much effort put into it as the original show itself. Weirdly specific memories, I know, but my brain makes the rules, not me.
You didn't mention the Inside Gaming/Funhaus redemption arch. Where IG left Machinima to join rooster teeth as Funhaus in 2015. Then Four years later. When Machinima was aquired. The fate of the machinima YT channels where decided by Rooster Teeth and so funhaus got the rights to Inside Gaming.
The only two things I knew about Machinima before this is that it was vaguely connected to videogames fan animations and that it almost ended Videogamedunkey career in his early days
The only thing that I'm truly going to mourn regarding Machinima's destruction is this amazing Hidden Source machinima called... I believe Tape 617. It was so fantastically scary and it sucks knowing that it's been lost to time with Machinima's destruction. Well, at least Civil Protection, The Gman Squad, Freeman's mind, Profound Moments in Left 4 Dead and RvB were archived. Helps ease the sting.
So much you didn’t even touch on. You should get in contact with the guys from their side channels like Respawn and Realm. They’re still around making content, and I followed them far more than the main channel

michinima respawn will always have a special place in my heart, it introduced me to mr Sark, Hutch, Nanners and APL. And i'm thankful for that
4:13 Hold up... does that say “Neil Breen”? Did he get his start on Machinima? Are there lost Breen classics out there on the interwebs?
Breen screens
I legit thought Quinton was joking when he said Half in the Bag was on Machinima. I did some digging and lo and behold it was. Crazy to think people discovered RLM without the Plinkett videos.
Yooo I remember that 2D minecraft animation. It finished a long time ago and I watched that finale like two years after the fact. I think the original uploads are private now, but there are reuploads.
Edit: Yup. Privated.
7:38 - Ah damn, you got my boi Phelous!
I never knew that HITB was on Machinima
I know, right?!
Hack frauds.
Yames yea me either, I was genuinely surprised.. HOW EMBARRASSING for them.... 😂😂
That surprised me. I like half in the bag and I didn’t know they were on Machinima
Phelous's dynamic reading of Machinima's About Us remains riveting.
The story continues! Full screen also owns roosterteeth, and rolled all the rights that machinima had into rooster teeth's coffers. Rooster teeth is now going to be producing then next transformers series.
"Machinima..." **Lights cigarette**
"I haven't heard this name in years..."
Half in the Bag was in Machinima? WTF?!
You didn’t know Half in the Bag is a Sims 2 machinima?
I know that one group that used to work for Machinima but then worked for Rooster Teeth which is owned by fullscreen got back all of their original content and even got to restart their video game news channel under the far more recognizable Inside Gaming.
But that's literally the only recognizable form of smooth transition I can think of. And it wasn't that smooth since it was very abrupt but a welcomed change.
...did you get Phelous for that reading!?
That's awesome!
A few corrections about the RvB section.
5:24 - Red vs. Blue started in Halo C.E. (the first Halo)
5:37 - It's "Burnie Burns", not Bernie. Burnie is a nickname derived from his last name, his real first name is Michael.
5:45 - Calling it a "glitch" is arguable. If you point your weapon directly down the spartan soldier looks ahead. There's nothing special about it, it's just aiming down.
QUINTON YOU CANT JUST USE YOUR PLATFORM TO PUSH KROPOTKIN
(Im kidding please do it's top tier)
He should become a Lenin Lad
Mr Zogu why would he become a state-capitalist class traitor?
burburton because Lenin wasn't a state capitalist ^_^
Mr Zogu lenin and Trotsky literally regarded the Soviet Union as a state capitalist step in the dialectical evolution towards socialism and thought that Russia needed to go through an industrial capitalist phase and thus dismantled the soviets (the actually existing socialism of the workers and other socialist factions) routed the anarchists and then finally turned the guns on fellow Bolsheviks when they rebelled against the state in the name of the socialism which was being dismantled by Lenin’s counterrevolution in the name of socialism
@@Rednines do people actually believe that misunderstanding? Lol ruclips.net/video/IcnvMIQDV5I/видео.html
here I am, 1 day after my final exams, eating barbecued chicken on a hammock and laughing with tears at the phrase "OFF THE HOFF"
Most of the old Machinima series are now under Rooster Teeth including the noob adventures and sonic for hire.
Respawn with Mr Stark, Hutch, and Nanners is peak RUclips in my opinion. It had the grassroots feel of just a bunch of cool dudes hanging out together making dope shit.
7:39 Oh wow, I wasn't expecting a cameo from Phelous!
Ahh thankyou for finally solving a mystery from my childhood! I loved watching machinama shows as a kid, but I remember them all (aside from rvb thank god) just disappearing into thin air
Actually love these series. Legit underrated youtuber 👍🏽
I grew up watching smash brothers machinima, and to see a majority that was on the machinima youtube gone is sad, on the bright side, the smash brothers machinima community still thrives, especially since Smash Brothers Ultimate made the camera more easily usable for new people. Never knew it originated that far though.
every time Quinton features the conquest of bread i stan harder
Goddamn but Red vs Blue really is funny as shit. I've seen it so many times and it never gets old.
"Developpers love to see their fans get creative"
Nintendo walks in
I loved Machinima Respawn Inbox with Mr. Sark and APL.
18:59 CONQUEST OF BREAD???!?!?! QUINTON IS AN ANARACHIST!
based
Hooray!
Based and breadpilled.
You should have said he's the "Anti-crust"
Rvb just wrapped it's 17th straight season. That's impressive for any form of visual media.
another banger from monsieur quinton. also appreciate the rvb shout out
Great video! But the guy who created Red vs Blue spells his name “Burnie” not “Bernie”
Could you write that in phonetics? I have a hard time seeing the difference in pronunciation.
Taijuusei It’s spelling, not pronunciation.
Machima Respawn Inbox is my favorite
Arby and the Chief squad, where we at?
at Jon's channel lmao
You didn't mention the Inside Gaming/Funhaus redemption arch. Where IG left Machinima to join rooster teeth as Funhaus in 2015. Then Four years later. When Machinima was aquired. The fate of the machinima YT channels where decided by Rooster Teeth and so funhaus got the rights to Inside Gaming.
13:50
"Throughout the universe" is apparently just how they phrase these things now... ever watch Silicon Valley?
The only two things I knew about Machinima before this is that it was vaguely connected to videogames fan animations and that it almost ended Videogamedunkey career in his early days
I'm surprised you didn't bring up the Freeman's Mind debacle.
How bad are we talking here? Because all i remember was it used to be on machinima now Ross has it on his main channel and that’s it.
OMG Phelous!!!!
So much you didn’t even touch on. You should get in contact with the guys from their side channels like Respawn and Realm. They’re still around making content, and I followed them far more than the main channel
