I came here for a goofy April Fool’s Day episode, and I got a meaningful exploration of the difficulties facing historians in reconstructing the lives of Bronze Age rulers. Quinton came out here and spoke on the fine line between legendary histories and manufactured legacies. Very well done!

Revisiting this video again after a while, and I've got to say, and this may just be because I have been binging history videos on the ancient near east and because Carl has completely been wiped from my mind, but I saw the title and thumbnail and straight up went "holy shit, he does history now?". Like I forgot that I had already watched the video, and since back then Carl was still someone I remembered, I had been fooled the intended way then. So basically, I was fooled once, forgot about the video and its content, got deep into history, saw the video thumbnail, got excited, clicked, went to the comments, saw that it was an April Fools video, and then everything came back. And as of when I'm typing this, it is April 1st, 2024.
P.S. A quick sidenote, Lugal means King/Ruler in the Sumerian language, so basically Lugalzagesi is King Zagesi
