    Check out Part 2 where I talk about some of the games mentioned in the comments of this video: ruclips.net/video/956mYIDT0Rg/видео.html
    All of these games were randomly chosen so your favorite might not be here. Be sure to let me know below what games should be in future RPG lists!
    What games should I talk about next?

    Shenmue II was the biggest reason I had to get an Xbox when the Dreamcast died and it was the only way to play it in America, not having a clue or caring to learn how to import games. It's still my favorite game of all time.

    Sudeki’s character designs also give off a nostalgic feeling to that era when Western media was taking more and more influence from anime. It came out when the original Teen Titans was still airing and just before other anime influenced stuff like Avatar and W.I.T.C.H. Takes me back to my high school days.

    Jade Empire was one of the first if not the first games I got for my Xbox and I loved it, still love it, and I'm STILL waiting for a sequel! Also played through Morrowind and both Kotors but man Jade Empire was such a gem that doesn't get enough recognition. Never played or even heard of Sudeki tbqh.

    Sudeki has a special place in my heart, it was my first rpg and I loved the variety of enemies, the gore, special powers and characters, even though the ending feels a bit abrupt.

    • @jurtheorc8117
      @jurtheorc8117 Год назад +7

      The latter half of the game in general feels rather abrupt. There's a somewhat official animated cutscene to be found on YT after the defeat of the final boss, with the original VA's, which at this moment is the closest closure we can find.
      Definitely wouldn't mind a second chance for Sudeki, though I generally had a good time with it on my own playthrough.

    Great video! The original Xbox is a hidden gem in itself. It was a Halo machine for many but the experimental experiences many other games on the system had made it a stand out in modern gaming DNA.

    For that generation of consoles, the original Xbox had the RPG's I spent the most time in: Morrowind (which I still play frequently on my Series X), Kotor 1 and 2, Arx Fatalis, Fable, and Sudeki just being the ones that come to mind. What a classic console.

    “Kotor 1-2”, “Jade Empire”, “Morrowind” and “Fable” alone should more than satisfy any fan of these genres. After the PS2 and the Game Cube, the last thing I bought was the Xbox. Their games library was next level in some places. A first class console and in my opinion the best generation of consoles.

It should get a full update though. Full voice acting, greatly enhanced visuals, vast vistas, more enemies, NPCs, improved modern combat system!.

    As much as I love KOTOR 1, KOTOR 2 just has a significantly better story and characters. KOTOR 1 is classic Star Wars; a clear binary between light and dark with some fun locations and characters to boot. However, I just love the shades of grey KOTOR 2 has along with it's more complicated characters and the influence system, which made it a much more engaging game in my eyes. It was also interesting to hear about Metal Dungeon, a game I'd actually never heard of!
    Would love to see you cover Phantasy Star Online 2 and see if it's still worthwhile despite being offline. I'd also be interested in seeing Galleon some day, which I feel like is a forgotten gem of the original Xbox. It was far from perfect, but it had an impressive scale for an original Xbox game and had a lot of unique systems within it. Great video as always though!

    The OG Xbox is where I realized I loved RPGs. Fable, Morrowind, Jade Empire, KOTOR 1 & 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, LotR The Third Age. The distinction, I think, is made by the fact that Xbox is "RPG" whereas the Japanese Nintendo and Sony are more "JRPG".
    That's just my first thoughts at 1 minute into the video upon hearing you say that there weren't many RPGs on Xbox. Yet my 9yo self buying a newly launched Xbox was immersed by so many RPGs. Even though, yes, I mostly bought the Xbox to play Halo lol.
    Edit: So I only knew the first one in this video, KOTOR. I'd heard of Sudeki at the time, but being a kid with strict religious parents they never let me buy the game with the scantily clad, large breasted, woman on the cover on an M rated game lol. Arx Fatalis is only something that just appeared on my radar in the last few years, often as an option in Fanatical bundles, but I've never taken it. And then I'd never heard of the last two, though I was familiar with the D&D DA 1 & 2 games referenced in the D&D Heroes segment.

    Oh boy. I got really damn excited that you mentioned Arx Fatalis! I never expected to see it here. The game is simply so damn underrated and hidden, and... I guess I've always considered it more of an immersive sim rather than an RPG. But, really, that's just my dumb ass brain thinking that way because it's an Arcane Studios game. What a damn gem, I really love the setting and the atmosphere. More people should know this game.

    There was a game on the original xbox that was very similar to Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes. It was an rpg top-down hack n slash (more like cast and splash in the game in question) but I can't seem to remember what the name of it was. All i really remember is that there where different schools of magic, it was like a dungeon crawler, and you could unlock cheat codes to give you infinite mana and other stuff. For a little more detail on what I can remember, the different types of magic where represented by different colors that the player could toggle through using the black or white buttons on the xbox controller. If anyone could provide me some names to help me remember this game, that would be much appreciated as I played the game in question when I was a kid. And I played it a lot!

    My second 3d gaming system was the Xbox, i will always have fond memories of playing Halo, Fable, Morrowind and many other great titles. My dad was a drug addict and broke into my room, stole my Xbox and over 40 games and probably sold them for drugs. I haven't bought a system since then, Instead I got into mobile gaming then built my own PC for AAA titles today. I was scarred for life.... I've never touched an xbox360,ps3 the last system I had was USED OLD PS2😅

    Can’t help but feel that the Series X/S has completely lost the identity and charm of its older siblings. It just feels so sterile..
    The quality and variety of the software on Xbox and 360 were on a whole different level.

    • @OhHiMark2004
      @OhHiMark2004 11 месяцев назад

      I know what you mean and you're right. The Series X/S lacks, among other things, first-class exclusive new games. It lives mainly from sequels (which keep getting worse) and multiplatform games. There is simply no real personal identity. But the problem is similar for Sony and Nintendo. The industry is running out of ideas and is stagnating.

    • @flyingplantwhale545
      @flyingplantwhale545 11 месяцев назад

      I'd say Sony and Nintendo still has quality. But the fact that they're just clinging to safe sequels and barely innovate is more than apparent. I mean, Nintendo literally has no problem announcing like 5 Mario games in one Direct, over half of which are remasters lol @@OhHiMark2004

    "The GameCube and especially the PS2 boasted an impressive line of RPG titles"
    Well, the PS2 did for sure, but the GC's RPGs are nothing to write home about.
    I'm glad you featured Arx Fatalis, it's just a fantastic game. Of course, the PC version is better, and since Arkane released the game engine as open source, you can actually play it on a variety of platforms these days as Arx Libertatis. Same goes for Morrowind. The PC version is obviously vastly superior, and it too has an open source implementation today via OpenMW. I played the hell out of the Xbox version though, since this was during a time when my PC had become severely outdated.

    8:40 Have you played Dark Messiah of Might and Magic? Made by the same people and came out the same year as Oblivion it was heavily over shadowed and I feel a heavily underrated RPG. Feels like an evolved better version of Arx Fatalis with simpler magic but more optons with combat! Highly recommend to any RPG lover, goes on sale for $5 often.
