I'm probably on the older side of a lot of people here who really like the OG Xbox. I was 15 when it launched. I remember that run up to christmas my dad asked me if I wanted a Gamecube or Xbox and I settled on Xbox. He pulled me out of school at noon on 11/14 and took me to Walmart to sit and wait for the midnight release. All this was a surprise to me. I had no idea he was planning to do that. Told my best friend about it at lunch and he managed to get his parents to do the same. Was a fun 12 hours spent waiting and getting the excitement going as others began to trickle in. When I got home my dad told me I could skip school the next day and my friend and I spent all day rotating Halo and DOA3. DOA3 became our main over little time and we would end up spending entire weekends playing DOA3 for 14-15 hours straight until summer break hit and a group of us would take over my dad's garage to LAN Halo all summer long.
I Have a similar story, I was 11 when the console came out and got super lucky my best friends dad worked at Sams Club at the time as a manager. Long story short they got an Xbox shipment to be sold at a discoount off the bat so, my buddys dad got one with his employee discount. We played NASCAR but Halo we played all year we couldnt put it down I even missed school on my friends bday cuz he begged my parents to let me stay at his place to pull an all nighter video game spree lol great times
I remember when I was a kid playing the original Xbox my dad hated video games and never liked me playing them. I discovered Halo and it blew my mind there had never been a first person shooter like it at the time I could not stop playing it. My dad walked in the room to tell me to get off the game until he saw how cool it was. Next thing I know he was playing co op with me and we both became obsessed with the game playing it for hours on end.
I was there Gandalf, I was there 3000 years ago and got it at launch. It was insane, coming from a N64 we were looking at the grass texture in Halo in amazement for hours haha. 😂💯
@@campxbox I feel like the jumps we experienced with the console generations back in the day from 2D to 3D to real 3D worlds was just insane. Advancements that fast and dramaticlly improved will never be replicated in the gaming industry. I appreciate your channel man it shares that passion for original Xbox . The PS2 gets do much talk but it was the Xbox that blew me away back then it was a peak into the future for me. Super Mario 64 shower everyone that 3D works and that tank controls are wrong and there is a better way to really navigate 3D worlds. Halo showed everybody that shooters on console work and that they can feel great. Thanks for taking us back my man. 💯
It's so crazy how good the OG Xbox's launch lineup was. Halo: CE is my favorite game of all time and easily could've carried the Xbox's launch by itself, but having so many other amazing games at launch put it well above the competition. Halo, PGR (PGR2 might be my favorite racing game of all time), Airforce Delta Storm (I played SO MUCH of this game and it's STILL the only flying sim I've played that much lol), Odd World, Cel Damage ( my wife and I used to play this ALL the time, and even broke it out and played not too long ago), Fusion Frenzy (another game I used to play with the wife and kid and played it again recently through Series X back compat), Dead or Alive 3, NFL Fever, arctic Thunder, Tony Hawk and even Transworld Surfing. Really was something for almost everyone.
Yeah going through all of these made me realize that there was so much for everyone at launch! I might not have loved the whole selection, but its nice that there were so many other great games. Also even if I didn't like it, there's always someone out there who would have appreciated some of these better than I did. Totally agree on Airforce Delta Storm, it's usually not my genre but that one is crazy well made.
@@leecroft1983Sega Dreamcast had a better launch line up. Soul caliber, sonic adventure, power stone, crazy taxi, ready 2 rumble, nfl 2k, house of the dead 2, nfl blitz 2000, hydro thunder, jet set radio and many more.
Halo and Blinx put Xbox on the map as a real contender, back then Blinx was GROUNDBREAKING lol kids couldn't believe they could rewind pause fast forward etc that little gimmick had every kid going crazy. Blinx is hard to play seriously these days but back then that was Space age technology to us
Definitely, the original xbox had incredible detail and framerate, and most of the first party games still hold up today. I can't believe it's 23 years old now 😳
I was 13 when the OG Xbox launched and my parents surprised me the PGR bundle for making the honor roll at school. At first, I was a little disappointed because I've been begging them for a PS2. But being immigrants with no English, they didn't know the difference. Once I fired it up and got my hands on that colossal controller and saw the mind-blowing visuals of PGR (and later DOA3), I was hooked. Almost 23 years later, I still have that OG Xbox with the OG controllers and yes, it still works.
I was 16 years old in 2001 when this console launched. I was still playing N64 and PS1 at the time, so this was a huge leap forward in technology. I got it for Christmas with Halo: CE and DOA3 as my first games. Back then we certainly didn't think much about stuff like frame rate, resolution, etc, but seeing those games, especially DOA3, on my CRT was mind blowing! Heck, DOA3 still looks incredible now! The OG Xbox ended up being one of my favorite systems ever, especially when it was finding its footing and had a lot of odd PC ports and new IP's coming out. Love this video!
Great video! I got my Xbox during the holiday season of 2002. It was the SEGA GT 2002/Jet Set Radio Future bundle that came with the new controller S. So many good memories were made with games like KOTOR, Morrowind, Fable, SEGA GT 2002, The Sims, Jade Empire... the list goes on. My sense of youthful wonder has not left me but those really were the days.
I actually ended up buying a GameCube at launch back in 2001. But then I tried Halo CE at a local EB Games and yeah. I got an Xbox in early 2002. Still my favorite of the franchise as Halo CE truly revolutionized FPS games for consoles. So many great FPS games during that generation of consoles and on pc too. Man I miss them now.
Being a teenager when the PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and GameCube released was a beautiful thing. We had the PS2 and DC, but ive recently bought an Xbox and found your channel. Thanks for the great content and fond memories!
It's nice to finally see Mad Dash Racing get the respect it deserves. I remember coming home from school every day playing that game trying to figure out how to unlock the other 6 characters back when I was in 5th grade.
I was 16 at launch. It was the most mind blowing experience that has never been replicated since. My first games were Halo and NFL Fever. I'll never forget when I saw the football players faces, I rushed and got my dad to show him. It was surreal, and again something I will never experience again.
I've decided im going to buy an og Xbox, ps3, and xbox 360. Im going back intime. Games dont hit the same for me like they did. Dont get me wrong. There are new games I love, but my heart will always be for the old games.
I ran the midnight launch of the PS2 in 2000, and the midnight launch of Xbox and GamCube in 2001 working at Walmart. Shortly after that I went on to run my own game stores with friends for nearly 23 years. This era of gaming always holds a special place in my heart.
This is such a great console and I’m glad to see that it’s getting more recognition in recent years. I got mine at 16 years old, Christmas of 2001 with a bunch of the launch titles.
These launch reviews were needed, thank you. Personally, I got the most early play time outta Dark Summit, Fusion Frenzy, NFL Fever and DOA:3. Tony Hawk 2X plays better than the new remakes, even with The Duke. Great Vid.
Glad you enjoyed the video! That's a solid early lineup to have out of a lot of great selections. I honestly need to do a comparison video on 2x and the recent remake, the last time I played the remake was close to when it came out. I agree though I thought it was only fair to go through these games playing the Duke and 2x plays well on it! Thank you for your support as always!
Still have my launch bundle of Halo, PGR, and DoA, which solidified that launch as one of the best of all time. Amazing unforgettable times and all those games are still fun today : D
Got my Xbox with Halo, Oddworld & Cel Damage in March of 2002. Not a day oner, but it was indeed a glorious time in gaming and my life in general. Great memories.
I was 13 years old when the launch happened. I went to EB games with my dad at the time and I couldn't open the thing for another month and a half for Christmas. By the time I broke into the xbox I had 3 good games......none of which being Halo. PGR, DOA 3, and Tony Hawk 2x were a blast, but it wasn't long before my friend and I rented and re-rented Halo until I had my own copy. Lan parties were nuts, but nothing prepared me for what would transpire one year later. The OG xbox live launch changed the industry forever.
I was 9 years old when Xbox hit the scene, but I did not get one until Christmas Day 2004. I do have some launch titles that I later went on to get. I have Halo: Combat Evolved, Project Gotham Racing, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, NFL Fever 2002, NHL Hitz 2002, Dead or Alive 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x, Airforce Delta: Storm (the first game was a Dreamcast launch title), Madden NFL 2002 (I also have it for PS2, but later rebought it on Xbox), Arctic Thunder, NASCAR Thunder 2002, Dark Summit, Fuzion Frenzy and Mad Dash Racing.
Dead or Alive 3 was mind blowing on launch. Very few games on any platform looked as good and to be running at 60fps was incredible. Team Ninja was at their best during this period.
feels great to read all of these stories, heres mine, i had ps1 and 2 and the 2 start breaking. Had good results at school my brother and I so as a reward Dad took us to the gamestore as a surprise and we got to choose a translucent green Xbox, only 5000 in europe, with 2 PAD s controllers. Never really liked the original controller but these ones were good. Never went back to ps2 in my teenage time, better graphics, own music, nice controllers with 4 hubs, no memory card needed, amazing! I dont remember what was the first games we had but GTA pack and Burnout 2 as well as time splitters 2 were our main. Wolfenstein was also the first game i had, manhunt DOA volley, wreckless, furious karting, mx atv unleashed, black and of course Halo. Now building my collection again with the items i d loved to have in the past and now, sharing this with the beloved one, with that age gap we have, its nice to let someone discover something unkown. Nice video btw
I’m tired that the original Buffy game for XBOX never gets its praises. In my opinion, it is one of the most underrated games of all time. Not only is the game underrated, I do think it’s was one of the top 5 games for the Xbox launch.
I really want to play through it for a video, but I want to work my way through the TV show before I do. I've never watched it, but I want to. Buffy wasn't a launch title in NA or Europe though, but it did come out less than a year after.
I was so hyped for the launch of the Xbox. I followed it in every way available to me at the time. I picked both the Xbox and the Gamecube on the day the Xbox launched. I dropped my wife off at work and zipped across the street to the game shop, picked up both consoles and I believe 3 of the launch titles and the best video/audio connectors available for both systems. I then rushed home, since I had taken the day off, immediately hooked the Xbox up to our new HDTV and surround sound system that we had bought in anticipation of getting the systems and put the Gamecube somewhere out of the way. Once it was hooked up, I fired the system up and watched the excellent startup sequence. Programmed in the date and time, quickly explored the interface and then turned up the volume and popped in Halo. This was one of those times where you have high expectations for something, and it exceeds them by leaps and bounds. I spent the next couple of hours playing Halo. Eventually I forced myself away from Halo and fired up Project Gotham Racing. I was blown away by this game and still yearn for a return of this series. I would gladly trade every flavor of Forza for a return of PGR. Finally, there was my wife's game of choice to try out, Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey. I actually got sucked into this one for longer than I would like to admit. Probably over the years I have spent more time in this game than in Halo. I then turned my attention to the music options, having your own music play in game is a feature I wish we still had in modern systems. It would be extremely useful when streaming to be able to play stream safe music in AAA games. Plus, it was just plain fun to have your favorite songs play over the in-car radio while playing a game like PGR. Eventually I made sure to hook the Gamecube up for my wife and tried out the games we got for it to make sure they worked. Rogue Squadron was neat, but even with the component cables it still only looked marginally better than the N64 game. So, meh... there was only so much that could be done to help that system out and next to the Xbox it looked like a bad joke on Nintendo's part. Over the years I came to respect the system for the games but, on that day, it was massively overshadowed by the Xbox. I can't even remember what the other two games were. I eventually had to pull myself away from the TV and pick my wife up from work. She then got her turn with the systems and even she was sucked in by the Xbox and the Game Cube was, once again, ignored for several hours. Over the next month or so, I would also get Arctic Thunder, Cel Damage, Dead or Alive 3, Fuzion Frenzy, and NFL Fever 2002 from the launch lineup. Cel Damage was a blast to play, I didn't hesitate to purchase the HD rerelease one the Series X. Dead or Alive 3 was gorgeous, I am not a big fighting game fan, I bought this more as a tech demo, but I ended up really enjoying it and put many an hour into it. NFL Fever was criminally underrated; I still curse EA for their licensing deal killing great alternatives to their sports games like this. It was much more enjoyable than Madden. Fuzion Fenzy could be fun in short doses, especially with 4 players. Arctic Thunder, well Arctic Thunder was a game that existed. During this console generation my wife and I were on a first name basis with the staff of the game shop near our office.
Thanks for that description of launch day! It was awesome reading through your description of launch day. I wasn't there at launch so it helps with my understanding of how it was for everyone.
As someone who owned both an Xbox and GameCube at the time, I can’t let these comments about Rogue Squadron II stand lol. I can’t believe anyone would say it was only “marginally better looking” than the N64 game. It ran so smooth and looked incredible at the time and still holds up well today! I remember seeing it on a GC demo station before release and it sold me on getting a cube honestly. Nintendo exclusives + the best versions of 3rd party games on the OG Xbox was a great combo that gen.
I understand where you are coming from, but on launch day and switching back and forth between the Xbox and GameCube the 50" HD screen that made the original Xbox look great the GameCube failed to even compete. Rogue Squadron II was nearly nauseating on that TV. It looked much better when I eventually exiled GameCube to our older, smaller, CRTs. That is where that system shined. But on the 50" rear projection HDTV every shortcoming of the GameCube was on giant jaggy display. @@sjb626
Thanks for this! A fun and enjoyable watch. Love OG Xbox and your channel. PGR was so awesome and Halo of course! Forgot to say Abe was a great character😂
There are some great games there. I wasn't there at launch but got my Xbox in the second half of 2003. I do remember seeing Amped and Dead or Alive 3 in demo kiosks around my city and thinking gaming visuals had reached their peak. To this day I feel it's still the best looking gand on the console. One thing I am still annoyed at is that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X never released over here in Europe. I still want to add that game to my collection badly! Very big fan of the games. Hopefully I can get it someday... Also, today I added another 12 games to my ever-growing Xbox collection. One of them is 4X4 Evo 2. Very excited to give it a shot myself. Thanks for the video! Great content, as always! 👍🏻
I wasn’t able to get a Xbox till 2003. I missed the halo launch. But I was there for halo 2 the next year. Xbox will always be my favorite console. Such a great library of games that still hold up better than most from that generation.
I’ll never forget my grandfather and I picked up an Xbox from a flea market in about 2003 for $75…. You can imagine where things went from there! Great memories. It completed my 6th gen of consoles.
The arcade machine for Arctic Thunder was kinda neat. It had a fan that would blow on you when you hit the turbo. It was basically a spiritual successor to Hydro Thunder but definitely not as good.
I remember I picked up the OG Xbox day 1 with NFL Fever, then during the Xmas break, my buddy wanted to borrow it, and he would lend me Halo. I had no idea it would introduce me to my favorite game of all time.
I wish they just released all these old Xbox exclusives on the Windows store. Seems like a no-brainer. Sure it would be a hassle to get working but they would get a lot back. It also would make the subscription service much more appealing to those of us who only have PC.
Great video, I really enjoyed it from start till finish. The launch lineup was impressive in both quality and variety. And that off road test drive game looks great, might be picking it up.
Wonderful video; as somone who picked up the xbox at launch with only DoA3 for the rest of the year... This video was a trip to remeber how jealous I was of friends who got other games lol. (I love DoA3 tho)
The original Xbox was so cool. Mindblowing graphics, awesome features like the built-in hard drive, and home to so many overlooked gems that haven't been analyzed to death online since Xbox emulation hasn't been viable until the last couple of years, and a great homebrew scene that helped the console stand-out even more from the Gamecube and PS2.
NFL Fever 2002 was mine and my father's favorite Football game for years, that's part of what grew our bond together. I'll always remember the intro song, I absolutely love the game.
Then again, just being a young kid - I think a lot of the time I spent playing games help stimulated my brain quite often, so ~ who knows, may have been beneficial in the long run xD
I must say you manage to capture the video of these games very cleanly! Do you capture from an HDMI mod or from the OG component cables? Slightly unrelated, but I wish Microsoft would continue backwards compatibility migration until at least all OG Xbox games that were supported on the 360 are brought forward to Xbox one/series consoles. Oh well, hopefully with A.I. improvements we'll have far more accurate original Xbox emulation or some FPGA hardware powerful enough!
For my OG Xbox footage I use the pound HDMI output and have it connected to my capture card. I recently got a new capture card and the footage is looking really nice on it. I agree though, some of these are backwards compatible, but I really wish all of them were. Unfortunately it all depends on rights and other things, but it feels like they could have squeezed some more games into it.
Awesome job covering all these launch titles! DOA3 is easily my favorite in the list! Arctic Thunder may be a shallow game, but dang I put a good amount of hours into that lol. THPS2X was a neat way to bring the franchise to the platform, and one that I got years ago myself to finally check out. Great video again man!
My buddy got an Xbox for Christmas when it released back in 2001. I was in ninth grade. Played Halo and Munch’s Odyssey over Christmas break. Good times.
DOA really was special, and so was Halo. As someone who loved perfect dark and tekken 3, I was blown away how both xbox titles graphically surpassed my gen 5 favorites.
I was there launch day at my local Target. I was literally 1 of 4 people who camped out. It was such a difference from the ps2 and 360 launches. Still memorable and awesome though.
I had the PS2 and bought a GameCube, and my brother had the Xbox. So I was lucky enough to experience the machine that was Halo: CE, as well as DOA3. I also thought AirForce Delta Storm was fun and looked incredible.
Yeah I had a GameCube and an Xbox, but I never had a PS2 until around 2009. Yet all of my friends had a PS2 so I still had some good times on it growing up. It was just an incredible generation.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x and NHL Hitz 2002 are my childhood. Loved the play by play names used in NHL hitz for your custom team's players. and the different heads you can unlock like the Bull and the Alien
The 3 games my parents got me for christmas at launch were halo, dead or alive 3 and project gothem racing. Needless to say I was very happy with their picks.
I think an underrated feature of some Xbox games was the use of including your own music within the games built in library. Fuzion Frenzy comes to mind. As you stated it was very repetitive, but what made it stand out to my friends and family was that you could play games while also listening to your favorite songs at the same time!
Great launch lineup! I got a Gamecube almost a year after launch because there were no Xboxes in the store and though I was disappointed, I also loved my GC thoroughly and still play it to this day. Luckily a friend down the road had an Xbox + Halo oh boy did we have fun! I wasn’t aware of Air Force Delta having an XB game, I played the original a lot as a kid on Dreamcast and loved it though it was a tad difficult at 9-10yrs old. Man, I just really miss gaming in the 90s and early-mid 2000s 🥹 So badly. Not just the games but the vibes, the excitement. When certain ideas and execution of experiences felt new still. Born at the beginning of the 90s so I have a soft spot for 16-bit stuff but PS1/Saturn/N64/3DO and onwards was THE time! Oh yeah my friend had a Virtual Boy too that was a trip lmao
One of the best parts about getting super in love with a specific console is that it inevitably encourages you to get into other genres of games you might not engage with normally. The Xbox did that for me with sports titles and I'm so thankful for it. Might not be a lot of great modern titles (really only love The Show these days) but back in that 6th console gen we were spoiled for stellar choices in almost every major sport and the games are absolutely timeless!
I picked up one on launch day with Halo, Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing. Still have them all though I was more excited about the previews of the Buffy game at the time. I was a massive Buffy fan back then (still am) and promise of the exclusive Buffy game convinced me to buy the console.
@@campxbox Season 2 & 3 were the best and though later seasons had stand out episodes (Hush, Once More With Feeling and The Body) the pinnacle came for me with Season Three’s Doppelgangland. Have fun watching… especially once you hit season two. Still play the Buffy games today. 🙂
@@herdarkshadow834 I started the first one a couple of weeks ago, when I tested my Xbox with the Retrotink 4K scaler. Looks really good. Which reminds me, I should really play the second game. I own it, but haven't played it through.
All 20 Xbox games that I remember. My first game was WWF Raw on Xbox and I brought it for Christmas. I remember reading the magazine about Xbox and first games that launched in 2001.
NASCAR Heat with the snowball cheat code while purposely trying to cause massive wrecks by driving the wrong way holds some of the most memorable Xbox moments i have
I bought an xbox at launch. I was 25 at the time. A lot of good memories back then. I remember staying up all night playing amped. Got Halo around Xmas time. Couple of my favorite games from back then are Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars KOTOR.
I still have my launch Xbox I waited in line for the midnight launch at Meijer while my mom grocery shopped. I had purchased Munch's Oddysee and Halo before launch, and got Tony Hawk 2X with the system. Hindsight and money, I probably would've gotten PGR and DoA3 as well, but I had their predecessors on Dreamcast.
One of my most nostlagic game on original Xbox was Kung Fu Chaos, don't know if you guys remember it. It wasn't an xbox launch title but man I played that game so much with my friends.
We were too poor to afford an xbox but I remember my sisters boyfriend had one and I got to play Halo on it and it really was mind blowing how ahead of anything I had played before it was. I don't think I had ever played a game that was as smooth and polished as Halo was. And then I had to wrap my head around the idea that he was playing music that he saved to his xbox and that he had infinite space to save games. The only downside was that a 12 year old me could not hold the controllers properly to play, they were just too damn big. I guess Shaq was one of the original developers.
I was the only kid with a xbox in my town in Holland 😅 everyone had bought a ps2, but i don't regret a thing , i loved the xbox with its amazing graphics and awesome games like Halo and mechwarrior and humongous controller i could barely control with my kid hands, but i was used to the freaky N64 controller so i could handle any controller 😄
Its funny even where I grew up in the US all of the other kids at my school had a PS2 or a GameCube. I always thought it was fun being the only one with an Xbox haha
In Europe the Xbox launched a bit later, in March 2002, and the launch lineup of 20 games was a bit different than in the US. I was interested, but it was too expensive at first. Microsoft quickly cut the price and I got the JSRF/SegaGT bundle in early 2003, and the Xbox became the first console I ever bought with my own money. I was a first year university student at the time, 21 years old. I still love the Xbox and play it all the time. I have almost complete PAL Xbox collection, just one game missing out of 777 games.
@@campxbox Xiaolin Showdown. It was the last Xbox game released in PAL area. It's not great, but really rare, pops up in Ebay maybe once or twice per year. This makes it expensive, too. Funny how the NTSC release is really cheap and common.
Man, 2001 was an interesting time to be a gamer. I remember when the Xbox first came out, it made me happy while feeling depressed at the same time. After 9/11 happened, the tragedy took a toll on my body and my mind. I just couldn’t “have fun” with video games no matter how hard I tried. I was just very heartbroken seeing all of the damage and all of the lives that were lost on that terrible day. I really don’t want to reflect on every single detail of how I felt during that time, but the point is, 9/11 really affected me, but as time went on, I learned to deal with the significant changes that were made permanently after the tragedy. The world was never the same after that. Though despite all of the bad experiences I had during the fall of 2001, the Xbox was ultimately a very fun machine and I thought a lot of the experiences I had with it were amazing and it was part of what helped me recover from 9/11 and I gotta give Microsoft props for that. I got mine on launch day, and I picked up several titles, including Halo. I still remember the very first time I fired up my Xbox. I was blown away by the graphics and sound quality in all of the games I’ve picked up. It was absolutely amazing to the point that it quickly became the most impressive console I’ve played since the Sega Dreamcast.
I'm not sure if I bought the console on day one or I waited until a few weeks later but the 2 titles I would have bought were DOA and of course Halo. The real game changer for me was a year later when they released the Xbox Live package and when Mech Assault came out, countless hours of my life were given to that purchase.
I was only 3months and 15days old When this Came Out Halo,FuzionFrenzy,Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee,Mad Dash Racing, Project Gotham Racing & 20years Later DOA3 (For Reasons) Introduced me To Gaming & XboX ALL because of Me DaD Thank You
Halo: Nothing I can say either that hasn’t already been said by 1 million other people but just let it be known that if you had an Xbox within the first year after it’s released, chances are you might’ve had this game and if you did chances are you absolutely loved it and played it every single day with and without your friends!!!! If your Bro came to spend the night for the weekend, it was “On like neckbones and shoulders !!!!!” Halo was such an “Event” for myself and many, many other Gamers alike? It was the killer app that, when it came out, caused guys to start planning sleepovers?!?!?😮 You were absolutely blown away every time you left a party or sleepover where there were at least 4 to 8 Xbox systems there hooked up on that many TVs or half, using two people per TV via split screen? it was just such an awesome time and you absolutely could not wait until next weekend when there was going to be eight Xbox’s, and so everybody would pair up with another buddy, two per TV everybody LinkedIn ready to go!!! God, it was such an amazing time in gaming !!!

I still believe the OG Xbox had the best console launch release titles. It had quantity and quality. And Halo.
@@leecroft1983Sega Dreamcast had a better launch line up. Soul caliber, sonic adventure, power stone, crazy taxi, ready 2 rumble, nfl 2k, house of the dead 2, nfl blitz 2000, hydro thunder, jet set radio and many more.
I was 15 I think also lol maybe 14
Halo and Blinx put Xbox on the map as a real contender, back then Blinx was GROUNDBREAKING lol kids couldn't believe they could rewind pause fast forward etc that little gimmick had every kid going crazy.
Blinx is hard to play seriously these days but back then that was Space age technology to us
My first ever console. Second hand from my uncle with Halo and GTA Sam Andreas. Something about the OG Xbox just feels like gaming. Cool video 🎉

It's really is crazy how good DoA3 looked, could have passed for an early 360 game even.
Definitely, the original xbox had incredible detail and framerate, and most of the first party games still hold up today. I can't believe it's 23 years old now 😳
Yeah its wild that one of the consoles best looking games came out on day one.
When it came up i did a double take. I thought for sure it was being emulated and upscaled lol.
Splinter Cell and Forza Motorsport defiantly looked like a Xbox 360 game.

Halo CE is my favorite as well, still holds up to this day.

Thanks for watching!
Of all the xbox related stuff this channel itself is a hidden gem. Thank you for briniging back the nostalgia.
The Fusion Frenzy slander is digesting LOL but great trip down memory lane. OG Xbox will always hold a special place!!! GREAT VID THANK YOU!
Excellent profile on these memorable original Xbox games! I enjoyed your commentary & solid game-play captured!
Thank you for the nice words. Glad you enjoyed!
Lets be honest, they only needed to launched with one of these games, they didn't need the rest. Shrek really put the Xbox on the map.
Been waiting on this one! Camp delivers yet again! 🙌
Got my Xbox with Halo, Oddworld & Cel Damage in March of 2002. Not a day oner, but it was indeed a glorious time in gaming and my life in general. Great memories.
Another awesome video! Great memories 4-stacked up in front of the projection TV in my basement playing fuzion frenzy with my brother and friends.
Thank you! Honestly that sounds like an excellent memory, definitely the best way to play that game.
The first 2 Project Gotham Racing games were fuckin addicting
I love Oddworld Munch's Oddysee, to this day I'll find myself quoting Abe.
Whenever I see my dog, I always say. "There's my buddy."
That's so sweet I love that!
I have almost all of these launch titles. I love this channel. All XBOX!
feels great to read all of these stories, heres mine, i had ps1 and 2 and the 2 start breaking.
Blood Rayne 1 and 2 were also good, both games got a remaster on PS4 and Xbox One, the originals are also backwards compatible with the Series X
Nostalgia hitting rn 😅love this
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed.

Fusion Frenzy… great times.
I got my OG xbox for oddworld, everyone thought I was crazy, even the dude in the shop thought I was crazy. Still stand by my decision
Oddworld is probably one of the most unique games of the bunch so I think it was a good choice!
Yeah if you like racing titles, its a pretty cheap title so I'd say its worth it. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Seeing Pro Skater, and Halo CE and all that stuff was great, thank you for the video! Very nostalgic. I wish I was a teenager then 😭
Then again, just being a young kid - I think a lot of the time I spent playing games help stimulated my brain quite often, so ~ who knows, may have been beneficial in the long run xD
Bills any time sooner would've sucked xD
Mind-blowing that many of the series that defined the Xbox console was out on launch day
I must say you manage to capture the video of these games very cleanly!
Shrek is a masterpiece of interactive entertainment. It is the highest calibre a video game can possibly reach.
The pinnacle of human achievement

Awesome job covering all these launch titles! DOA3 is easily my favorite in the list! Arctic Thunder may be a shallow game, but dang I put a good amount of hours into that lol. My buddy got an Xbox for Christmas when it released back in 2001. I was in ninth grade. Played Halo and Munch’s Odyssey over Christmas break. Good times.
I was there waiting in line the first one in line and let me tell you it was awesome.
That's awesome! What games did you pick up?

Man i love Halo.

Definition of underrated gem
WOW! I forgot how amazing the OG Xbox launch lineup was. Halo and Fusion Frenzy alone should make it one of the best launch lineups ever.
man the og xbox was amazing i miss this era so much
The 3 games my parents got me for christmas at launch were halo, dead or alive 3 and project gothem racing. Needless to say I was very happy with their picks.
That's a great way to start a console!
I think an underrated feature of some Xbox games was the use of including your own music within the games built in library. Fuzion Frenzy comes to mind. As you stated it was very repetitive, but what made it stand out to my friends and family was that you could play games while also listening to your favorite songs at the same time!
On of my favorite Xbox features by far.
Agreed! It was a great time in sports gaming because there was so much variety.
I was 17 when Xbox came out. My fondest gaming memories are from 1990 to 2005.
What boggles my mind is how decent things look on a 64mb console, which was a ton of ram compared to current competitors.
Yeah that Buffy game is super cool. I've never watched the series and I want to go through it so I can give that game a thorough review.
@@campxbox Season 2 & 3 were the best and though later seasons had stand out episodes (Hush, Once More With Feeling and The Body) the pinnacle came for me with Season Three’s Doppelgangland.

Dead or Alive was so good at launch
The 6th gen was absolutely goddamn nuts, everyone was just firing on all cylinders. It was insane
NASCAR Heat with the snowball cheat code while purposely trying to cause massive wrecks by driving the wrong way holds some of the most memorable Xbox moments i have
Cell Damage was online after launch, and it was magnificent!
I bought an xbox at launch. I was 25 at the time. A lot of good memories back then. I remember staying up all night playing amped. Got Halo around Xmas time. Couple of my favorite games from back then are Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars KOTOR.
Oddworld is so good. Munch's Oddessey was my first exposure to the series and it's been a lifelong favorite ever since.
That's awesome! What game are you missing?
I was only 3months and 15days old

I’ve been playing my og xbox. Was ahead of its time !
One of the best launch lineups ever.
Halo:
Nothing I can say either that hasn’t already been said by 1 million other people but just let it be known that if you had an Xbox within the first year after it’s released, chances are you might’ve had this game and if you did chances are you absolutely loved it and played it every single day with and without your friends!!!!
If your Bro came to spend the night for the weekend, it was “On like neckbones and shoulders !!!!!”
Halo was such an “Event” for myself and many, many other Gamers alike? It was the killer app that, when it came out, caused guys to start planning sleepovers?!?!?😮
You were absolutely blown away every time you left a party or sleepover where there were at least 4 to 8 Xbox systems there hooked up on that many TVs or half, using two people per TV via split screen? it was just such an awesome time and you absolutely could not wait until next weekend when there was going to be eight Xbox’s, and so everybody would pair up with another buddy, two per TV everybody LinkedIn ready to go!!!
God, it was such an amazing time in gaming !!!
always found funny that PGR1 black labels only had "Microsoft" while the platinum hits rerelease has them as "Microsoft Game Studios"
Star Wars Obi Wan was also Launch Title, at least on Europe. But the reality is that there were only 2 good games available, Halo and DOA3.
I already have Halo, Halo2, Tony Hawks 2x & I WILL NEVER PICKING UP Test Drive Off Road Wide Open!!
Such fun games!!!!
Great Video!!!
