I worked at Best Buy in the mid 00s to early 10s. The Scarface game came out like a few weeks into my employment there. One night around closing, I was asked if I was interested in one of the posters that the Rep dropped off earlier in the day for the new Scarface game, I said sure. It was of Tony in his iconic "Say hello to my little friend" pose with the rifle, except the poster was only in black, red, & white, and it was composed of the entire script to the movie making up the image. Still have it to this day.
One i would also personally add would be Peter Jackson's King Kong, It also had amazingly beautifull graphics for the time, a HUD system way before its time & overall great athmosphere that really immersed you into its world
So happy Revenge of the Sith is on this list. It had no right being as fun as it was! Such amazing memories of playing it with my pals at a sleepover before the film even hit. Same with LotR Two Towers & Return of the King. Such fun and just extended the joy of being around for the films.
Try "The warriors". Its one of rockstars most underrated and not talked about games. Its a fairly standard beat em up with tons of interactive environmental weapons/upgrades to find, and its almost entirely 1 to 1 with the movie too. Kind of a spoiler but one of my all time favorite parts is at the end where the riffs jump the guy who framed them. and instead of just cutting to black, the credits roll and you get to run around on the beach kicking their ass
Also glad to see Scarface here, that intro to the game is insane. The gameplay loop of finding dealers after that, not so much. Very ahead of its time.
I had chronicles of riddick on DVD back then, the DVD had a playable demo of escape from butcher Bay if you popped it into an Xbox. I played that demo over and over, those graphics were mind blowing. Those were the the days.
Pirates of the Caribbean was an interesting title that I was taken with for a long time. The janky combat made progress in certain portions of the game far more difficult than it should have been, but they certainly made a cool world to explore.
I always love topics like this, as it highlights that there are still plenty of great licensed-based games that surpassed the stigma. Scarface is one I've been wanting to play, and may actually nab on the Wii (I heard it actually plays really well with the Wiimote). Star Wars Episode III is one I have, but still need to play. Always looked like a fun game, despite the poor reviews it received back then. Awesome video man! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah I've always been interested in the Wii version of Scarface. The Wii had some interesting versions of games like Dead Rising and Bully.
@@campxbox Sure thing man! Always enjoy your content, and slowly trying to catch up on it haha. Yeah, the Wii had some interesting versions of games, and some were even better I'd say. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is always one I state feels like a natural port, and The Godfather Blackhand Edition had some of the most creative controls for the Wii.
This game i mention isn't on the original Xbox but it is a must play movie video game, X-Men Origins Wolverine the movie wasn't the best but the game sure makes up for it especially since it's Rated M
Love all these games! Pirates of the Caribbean has a special place for me even though it was hard as shit playing as a kid. I would also include King Kong and Dinotopia (I think this counts as a movie tie in game)
Hmmm…well if going by Metacritic scores compared to movies alone, Aeon Flux (69 vs 36), Van Helsing (63 vs 35), The Spongebob SquarePants Movie (74 vs 67), Constantine (60 vs 50) and Cat in the Hat (56 vs 19). That’s all I can think of so far. As far as general reception for good ties in that hasn’t been mentioned over the years, the first Cars game was also well received acting like a side companion to the movie. Ratatouille has their fans I think? The Punisher is more a comic tie in but has the voice actor from the 2005 movie oddly enough. I’m sure there’s a few more…but that’s all I can think of…
You could do an entire video on The Collective. They cranked out a bunch of high quality licensed games back in the early 2000's like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb & Star Wars Episode III: revenge of the Sith to name a few.
I’ll have to check out Scarface. I did enjoy Starsky & Hutch on the Xbox, which was based on a movie based on a TV show. All the Lego games based on movies are great too!
Yeah I really enjoy the Lego Star Wars/ Indiana Jones games in particular. I think I need to take a bigger dive into Starsky and Hutch, but I'm really interested in it.
Great choices. My favourite would have to be Van Helsing. It's also worth noting that the xbox version of Van Helsing is much better than the PS2 version, IMO.
I have Spider-man 2 as my fave. Loved it on ps2 still have it and played it again a couple yrs ago and find it still holds up pretty well. The swinging is timeless. Heard the Xbox version looks really nice and just as good and SM1 even had a Xbox exclusive bonus Kraven mission. I really want The Warriors on Xbox. I initially was gonna pick it up on Ps2 but Xbox just seems to have much more going for it especially the 720p output. Also much cheaper. Scarface is another one I just NEED to play one day. I love GTA clones, the film, the aesthetic, just everything seems fantastic but I’ve done some research and the Ps2 version has some advantages it seems in terms of graphical effects and other subtleties that are absent in other versions. I assume its development relied on Ps2 hardware so ports were missing minor things ala MGS 2 and Silent Hill 2. A huge advantage for Xbox is that it’s 720p but I may go ps2. What’s your favourite De Palma movie btw? Mine is Blow-out !
Yeah I almost put the Warriors and Spiderman 2 on the list. I feel like I need to do a sequel list sometime, both are excellent. I didn't know about the Scarface differences though I'll have to check that out. My favorite De Palma is Body Double and its also one for my all time favorite movies. Its De Palma at his most stylish, there something about the mood in Body Double that I can't get enough of. Blow Out is incredible as well too.
@@campxbox Body double is definitely top tier. I really wanna revisit it and some other De Palma films bc I haven’t seen them in a long time. One I’ve put off for far too long is Phantom of the Paradise. That one always slips my mind for some reason. I think as a kid it seemed too weird so I had no interest but now it seems awesome and hilarious 😂 so I’m looking forward to it.
One Big Question I have is, If the console world goes Digital. What is the biggest reason for Buying a console over buying/building a PC? Pretty much almost all the games people want are going to PC these days.
I disagree with the pirates of the Caribbean game . It wasn't a good game. It was very frustrating. But at worlds end wasn't a bad game for Xbox 360, Wii , and PS2 . That one wasn't bad but the first ones garbage!!!
Its amazing how back in the day they could make a game about anything and there was a chance it could be great and now they make games with big franchises and they suck.

truth, one of my fave childhood games
Growing up as a young teenager with the original Xbox, this channel is great
Agreed! I would also submit that any PS2 gamer worth their salt would enjoy learning from this channel as well

Oh yeah I need to go in depth with that one. One of the best movies of all time.
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb was a good one as well
The Punisher is hands down one of my all time favorite movie tie in games. So many good memories of playing it on the Xbox.
I haven't done a whole playthrough of that one but maybe I should it's a really fun game from what I've played.
I prefer the Scarface game over San Andreas. That game was just insanely fun.
The Chronicles of Riddick was a great game as well, mind blowing graphics for the time and one of the first uses of texture mapping (Enclave engine).
Also glad to see Scarface here, that intro to the game is insane. The gameplay loop of finding dealers after that, not so much. Very ahead of its time.
Riddick is one of my favorites, it may be one of my favorite game openings of all time.

he showed it in the b roll, its a great game

I really wish they made more Pirates of the Caribbean games in this style. It makes me want to try that defunct Pirates MMO.
The Punisher and both Riddick games are my favorite movie games. Also 2 of my favorite games in general
Yeah both of those are absolute classics.
Pirates of the Caribbean had great exploration and I really enjoyed the trading aspect.

Appreciate it! Glad you enjoy the videos!
Van Helsing was also an excellent movie based Xbox game, way better than the movie itself.
That's one I need to try out.
Thanks for the insights,I just bought Pirates of the Caribbean 🙂👍

You know I've never seen that one actually but I really need to!
Minority report was pretty good, ragdoll physics were amazing at the time. Definitely a game that was repurposed to fit with the movie
That's one that I really need to try out.
I miss the collective. They made quality stuff for the era.
Totally agree! I was taking a look at their catalogue while making this video and I forgot that they had some solid games.
The Thing is getting a proper NightDive remaster.
Star wars Kotor is still a masterpiece today ;)
Oh yeah KOTOR absolutely rocks!
Scarface need a remake
One Big Question I have is, If the console world goes Digital. What is the biggest reason for Buying a console over buying/building a PC? Pretty much almost all the games people want are going to PC these days.

Chronicles of riddick was excellent
All I could think about during your "The Thing" review was "Silent Hill has a really good OST"
Haha great catch on that music choice. SH2 is one of the best game soundtracks.
Your should look at The Warriors from Rockstar Games.
The Warriors is a classic game based on an amazing movie. I need to do a full review of that one soon.
The Thing is ripe for a remake. Using today’s technology, to could be the next Dead Space.
