      Depends what you want. I agree for a great story. Like an actually meaningful story with stakes. But Red Dead Revolver has cartoon characters and bosses around every corner. Everyone is so memorable! Both are absolutely PS2 classics and it's not like we have a million cowboy games to pick from, especially back then.

    Why has this never been remastered, or remade? Gun is a license to print money and yet it never was brought to modern consoles. I bought it when it first came out on PS2 and man it was epic! My only gripe was you unlocked the best stuff at the end of the game and there was nothing left for me to do and back then new game plus didn't exist. They could do some much with an amazing remake but doubtful that will ever happen unfortunately. Great video! Thanks for covering this old gem. I will never forget how special this was when there was nothing like it at that time.

    • @NoMooreMercyTV
      @NoMooreMercyTV  12 дней назад +2

      Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! I'm not sure why they've never remastered or remade or even just re-released the game on more modern platforms. Activision these days seems laser focused on Call of Duty, but who knows what'll happen now that they're owned by Microsoft.

    • @ShadowAngel-lt8nw
      @ShadowAngel-lt8nw 11 дней назад

      Because already back then numerous people bitched and complained about the game, mostly because of the realistic way the indians were portrayed (not as the 'noble savages', revisionist history wants to see them), the game was a bit of a PR Nightmare for Activision due to the Association for American Indian Development calling for a boycott. In the woketarded clownworld of today, there's no way in hell that this game would ever be remastered and if it was remade it would be "made for modern audiences" and lose pretty much everything until it's cleaned, woke product like RDR2. Characters like "Reverend" Josiah Reed would simply not be allowed today.

    • @kiillabytez

    Not going to scroll the comments, but did you know that there’s something special by the dilapidated house mid map? The house in question is the one Colton is given away from as a baby during the cutscene with the confederates. It’s in an alcove with a mine near by. The mine contains TNT barrels.
    Pick one up and set it down by the chimney of said house but not too close to the chimney. Set it down and move clear of the blast. Shoot the barrel and it will reveal a pit full of all amo in the game, including handheld and health.
    Had this game on PS2 and I loved it.

    Gun on the psp was the first western game I ever owned for myself, I did play Red Dead revolver at the time too on the Xbox but it was actually owned by my father in which I can only play for about 2 hours or 3. Damn, Gun was such a great game and my word the story and soundtrack was top tier. Alot of people think Red Dead Redemption started the western open world but Gun was the one that actually started it and most of the critical feature in Red Dead was first introduced in Gun. I wish it was backward compatibility on the Xbox so I could play it again. This game definitely deserve a remake or atleast a remaster.

    I was playing this years ago on PC when the parents came to town for a visit. I was showing them this just before the Saloon scene where it gets rather bloody. My mom was somewhat appalled. I always appreciated the 'open world' feel even though it really wasn't. I also enjoyed the fact it didn't lose the plot with a million side objectives to pad the time or justify an over large map which is common today.

    I remember GameInformer had an issue which featured GUN on the cover and had a big write up about the upcoming western video game. When I first saw it, I was super stoked because I thought it was a sequel to Red Dead Revolver. When I realized it was its own game, I was, needless to say, very intrigued. I ended up getting the Xbox 360 version of it a little after the game launched and I absolutely LOVED it. I beat it multiple times, same as Red Dead Revolver. In the early days of the 360, GUN, Gears of War, Dead or Alive 4 and that 2006 ‘The Godfather’ game were basically all I played for several years. I wish they would remaster GUN, or at the very least, upscale the PC version to match (and succeed) its Xbox 360 counterpart. They made the 360 version the most detailed because they wanted to show off the system’s capabilities. The PC version looks like the PS2 version, just much smoother.

    • @NoMooreMercyTV
      @NoMooreMercyTV  17 часов назад +1

      Regarding the 360 version, that seemed pretty common back then! NFS Most Wanted is another example of a game that has a PC version, but it's just the PS2 version instead of 360 ported over. I enjoy the PC version of this game, but it's just missing so many graphics effects that the consoles had. Super smooth, but I still prefer to play on 360.

    • @ShadowAngel-lt8nw
      @ShadowAngel-lt8nw 11 дней назад

      It wasn't ahead of its time, it pretty much was a product of its time. That was when developers were throwing money left and right at actors to be in their video games after Rockstar popularized that with GTA Vice City. This was just around the time, Saints Row debuted (with actors like Michael Clark Duncan, Daniel Dae Kim, Keith David, Tia Carrere, Michael Rapaport) and True Crime: Streets of LA (Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Michael Madsen, Mako, James Hong etc.) came out, just two examples. If anything, a decade later that fad was over as not even GTA 5 featured any prominent names and even nowadays most games just hire the same 10 voice actors (like Troy Baker, Jennifer Hale, Nolan North or Laura Bailey) every game features and the few who do hire actual actors, hire washed up has beens who obviously don't care anymore (like Crime Boss: Rockay City, especially the abysmal performance of Chuck Norris)

    • @kalkella8822
      @kalkella8822 11 дней назад

      @@ShadowAngel-lt8nw I have to disagree, yes all of the people you mentioned were in videogames, and they did good jobs, but those games were few and far between, and for the most part, actors didn't take the medium seriously yet. That's why both Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman sucked in all of their games. Game developers also didn't care about character development in videogames at the time, which is why Michael Ironside kept turning down Splinter cell. He said there was initially no character, and they just wanted him to voice a shell of a human.
      It's also funny that you mention Rockstar because they infamously had a horrid time with Liotta and with the exception of Samuel L Jackson swore off celebs all together. To this day, that is why they don't use famous people. Rockstar has stated this themselves. It has nothing to do with trends, they don't want the hassle. Gun was made at a time where you could still have piss poor sounding dialogue in the game, and no one would complain because for the most part it was still the norm at that time. I don't think Videogames or actors truly took voice acting and motion capture seriously until Kevin Spacey did Call of Duty. That showed celebrities that games were to be taken seriously. Gun was ahead of its time because they actors involved understood it was more than a videogame, and what they were involved in was long form story telling.

    • @ShadowAngel-lt8nw
      @ShadowAngel-lt8nw 10 дней назад

      @@kalkella8822 It's not the hassle, T2, rockstar's owner is a incredibly greedy company, they simply don't want to spend the money anymore. That's the sole reason.
      You're also wrong about actors not taking video games serious. Even in the 90's you had some good celebrity voice over work (Prime example being Star Trek 25th Anniversary, Star Trek Judgment Rites and Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity) just like some took the FMV stuff serious (Wing Commander 3-5, Frankenstein with Tim Curry as examples)
      Don't know why you got such a hard on for Gun, that you put it on a pedestal where it doesn't belong. But whatever floats your boat i guess.

    • @kalkella8822
      @kalkella8822 10 дней назад

      @@ShadowAngel-lt8nw You are missing the argument. It wasn't yet an industry standard. Yes, there were games here and there with good voice work, you're right. It wasn't the norm until the 2010's. Actors as a whole did not take it seriously. You are also incorrect about Rockstar. I suggest you look it up. It's about Ray Liotta. There are entire documentaries on this subject. It may have changed since all the OG's at rockstar have left, but that was only a few years ago. Util the mid 2000's voice work on most games was the equivalent of an early Resident Evil game. That was still the standard when Gun came out. If you came into a voice booth now and gave an early 2000's voice performance, they would fire you.

    There's another difference you didn't mention in the PSP version. In the main version, you could take any horse you saw and when your horse died, you would search for another. In the PSP Version your horse has a Health bar. When it runs out, you can't ride your horse and you have to wait some time until it replenishes. I think they did that because of the PSP's limitations, I think not having to spawn the rideable horses saved a little on the game processing.

    I grew up loving this game in my childhood, my dad and I played it a lot, same with me and my childhood friend. It's one of the cases where I got a real soft spot for western themes, and I still love this game on PC or whatever other platform I can enjoy it still on.
    One day when my dad was at a pawn shop, I spotted the PSP UMD for GUN: Showdown and I was INSTANTLY hopeful, especially because GUN almost had a sequel that is hinted at with posters in Tony Hawk's: Proving Grounds. So, I was kinda hopeful it was outright a sequel, or prequel maybe... But, I was just as pleasantly surprised to find the full game on PSP and fully working.
    I now have a Vita, and it makes playing ALL shooters for the PSP so much better, it isn't even funny. The button shortcuts you can do with PSP games on the Vita can do so much to make it less awkward with the d-pad inputs, and it also allows you to assign the extra joystick to stuff like the face buttons... Resulting in a better-feeling way of aiming and moving around if you ask me. It is an EASY upgrade for GUN: Showdown, and it's worth playing this way, especially as the Vita can still do ad-hoc PSP gaming with other PSP systems! 👏🏻👍🏻
    I gotta admit... In retrospect, I am impressed Neversoft went from mainly just Tony Hawk games, to pulling off GUN in 2005. I just am sad they aren't around anymore thanks to Activision resigning them to the Call of Duty machine... 😢
    You definitely earned a subscriber man, and I hope we can be friends! God bless you all! 🙂✝️🤝🏻

    I loved this game back in the day it was great for its time. I started playing Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on NES as a kid so by the time I was a young adult this game was mind blowing how cool it was and how great storylines were getting in games. Fun fact/opinion on Red Dead Revolver, I think Red Harlow is a myth. A campfire tale. Some mythical hero that cowboys tell the story of. Proof: the game starts as a story being told by a drunk sheriff, the main character fights against flying goblins and killer clowns, in Red Dead Redemption 1&2 the only time you hear the story of Red Harlow is when visiting a strangers campfire at night. Some may feel the same and some may think he was a real character in a real video game universe and both is okay lol but it’s fun to have fan theories.

    The psp version was the one i played first, i had a ps2 at the time (2012), but playing in handheld mode in high school was a decent trade-off. I really love the game and eventually played the PS2 version, the PC version and the PSP version for the last time 2 years ago. The extra mission didn't bother me but at the same time i barely remember them, they are not very memorable. I really understand why bothers you, tho. Last year i was trying the PSP version of warrior within, but I left it unfinished because the new content felt really bad and unpolished, and was mandatory to complete the game. Something similar happens to AC2, the DLC nowadays is mandatory to complete the game, and is located right in the middle of the climax, so it feels pretty bad to almost finish the game and out of nowhere go to fight a random bad guy that has nothing to do with the story. English is not my first language, so sorry if something is misspelled.
