I do not own a PS5 btw, someone just let me use their box lol. Thank you all for your patience between uploads! Two months was not my intention, I'll be posting an update later today!
With the Shrek Xbox game a lot of the characters and enemies were designed by Todd Mcfarlane, the creator of Spawn so it probably explains why everything looks so weird. It also adds to the idea that the game was supposed to be something else before it got turned into Shrek

I know it’s weird to say… but the classic Xbox is probably my favorite console. It had so many unique games that felt home on it. Strangers Wrath, Armed and Dangerous, Fable, Kung Fu Chaos, Brute Force, Voodoo Vince, Jet Set Radio Future, Morrowind, Psychonauts, etc. It had such a unique personality that I personally feel was lost in the 360 and future consoles. Yes, that is 100% the nostalgia talking but it’s totally true to my brain. Edit: if you have PC-VR, you need to play the VRChat JetSetRadio Future world. Same graphics and gameplay… but in VR first person. It easily could be mistaken for an official release. It’s a dream come true.
I never experienced the original Xbox when it was new, but now that I actually know about games like Raze's Hell that were unique to the platform, I genuinely see what you mean by its unique personality; original Xbox exclusives tended to have this surreal edge that's hard to explain.
@@kingzay4957 I did enjoy it, sadly whenever I try to introduce people to it, they just assume it's a smash clone .-. smash didn't invent the brawler but ok
I didn't expect to see you playing with toys and i didn't expect to enjoy that moment as much as i did. Brought me back to when i used to play with toys. One of my favorite videos of you and glad to see you back.
Seeing your videos with 30k views makes me so happy! I remember when they used to say 500 views. You're the best retro channel on RUclips and I'm happy it's finally being recognized!
I can always count on Junko to remind me of games I full completed as a kid and then completely forgot about for 16+ years until i watch the videos. Weird feeling, love it keep it up!
It's telling that a console back then could feature two graffiti-based games at the start and end of its life cycle...and both of them were quality titles. Nowadays most major publishers wouldn't touch such a concept with a ten-foot pole. It's a level of passion and risk-taking that you just don't see anymore in a mainstream gaming scene run by greedy, out of touch businessmen who are only concerned with safe investments, quarterly earnings and nickel-and-diming customers to death.
Junko, in the relatively short time I've been subbed to you, I've been incredibly impressed with how quickly your video quality has increased. I wanted to say something to you after seeing these army men segments. Keep it up and the success will keep coming ❤️
Well apparently ratatouille on Xbox shouldn’t exist. The only reason it didn’t get cancelled was because GameStop/Eb games payed for it to be a store exclusive
Marc Ecko's Getting Up was developed by The Collective. The combat was so good because they made the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Indiana Jones & the Emperor's Tomb games. They also did the Star Wars Episode III game.
There are 3 different versions of Humpty Dumpty in the Shrek Universe. 1. Xbox Game version 2. Shrek Superslam version 3. Puss in Boots version Reminds me of how SpongeBob has 2 different versions of King Neptune
This is a goated idea for a show easily one of my fave recent creators, unique yet nostalgic work here LOVE U ITCHING THEM WEIRD PARTS OF MY BRAIN JUNKOOO
That army men bit was the best god damn acting I've ever witnessed. Distinctions all around soldiers! But seriously your work is phenomenal, only came across your stuff recently and already a huge fan, even got my partner watching your stuff! Just goes to show you dont need a million dollar budget to have bundles of creativity and fun ideas!
I don't think Microsoft has ever been able to replicate the tone and aesthetic of the original Xbox and how it stood out from their company as a whole.
11:50 if that doesn't scream early '00's, I don't know what does. People say the '90s and '00s were indistinct, but early '00s for me totally has a vibe to it. '90s, too.
Two things I remember about Black: the trailer was ridiculously badass, and I don't remember what level it was but I shot a rocket at a refinery-sized gas tank and it blew up. My little kid mind was absolutely blown at that moment.
My only issue with Jet Set Radio is the game always looked soooooo dark, everything is pretty and colourful but when they finished making it they just put the brightness on lowest 😅🤣
The bit with the Army Men was straight out of OG X-Play, which is fitting because I remember that game from their review. That the soldiers sound like Little Nicky helps.
4:45 Y'know, typically when someone compares a game to another, more popular game like Super Mario 64 that's only marginally similar to it, it tends to be a bit cringey, generic or misinformed to do so (like saying that Conker is like Super Mario Bros just cus they're both platforms games). But thinking about this comparison with Shrek and Super Mario 64 with the latter being "a 3d platformer at the time," it's... shockingly accurate. That is to say, it was a more "recent" example of a 3d platformer around the time of the OG Xbox. Really weird to me considering how vastly different the Xbox's generation was in terms of graphics and technical advancements in gaming compared to the N64's, to the point of it being night and day. You'd probably be forgiven for thinking those two generations were farther apart than they really were.
Man... I miss being a kid and playing OG xbox live. Crimson skies was my favorite. I remember when I got my Xbox for Christmas. It was the best Christmas ever.
Always a blast seeing Junko back with another vid, I’ll always remember playing Tony Hawk’s Underground, Halo and Vice City on the OG Xbox when I was a kid on vacation. It was fun when all the consoles felt unique and different from each other rather than having ports of the same game across each one
I LOVED Getting Up! Its fascinating how polished and deep the combat system is for a game where it’s not meant to be the focus. Really love the approach to graffiti. Great licensed music and original score from RJD2
I remember as a kid the countless hours I put into Halo 1 and 2, Timesplitters 2, Mechassault 1 & 2, Voodoo Vince, Unreal Championship, Metal Arms Glitch in the System, Godzilla Save the Earth, and Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis Sure the PS2 and GameCube had more recognizable titles but the Xbox had some underrated bangers on it. I'd love to play Mechassault multiplayer again

Stuff looks similiar to tge early shrek test footage too which give a weird interesting look
The game was also made by the studio that would become EA DICE.
That is insanely awesome lmao

the UI of the OG Xbox was futuristic as hell... still feels like it was made in 2091 than 2001
That's a good point I haven't thought about before. I love the sleek and easy to navigate UI of my PS4 but Original Xbox still looks more futuristic.
The alien chatter in the background is a nice touch too.
@@oddjob914 and that alien ass sound effect when you scroll through your saved memory for games and stuff
