me too! i dont understanf why they replaced it. they were trying to make it mire proditable, but the angel wouldnt have costed any extra (like the cost to lnstall the horse)
Saw it recently and enjoyed the new production! Not all of the changes work but reimagining theatre pieces is what keeps theatre exciting. No one wants to see the same production over and over! Shakespeare’s play would not still attract huge audiences if they were staged as his staged them every year. The 2023 production of Sunset Boulevard is a testament to what bold reimagining can deliver.
Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been looking all over and haven't found any clips of All I Ask Of You Reprise from the updated London production! 👍
What did you think of him as a phantom? He seems like a good singer I'm just curious how his portrayal of the phantom is. I don't know how long he had been doing the part though.
It seemed to me that James was new to performing the Phantom. It takes a while to square away their performance but I still enjoyed the energy he had. In fact, I thought he was better the next day with Holly-Anne - more aggressive as the Phantom.
I do have a rough video of it. There were two people talking next to me that somehow got recorded too. My mic must have been quite sensitive…but they were recording too. It’s a pity that interfered with the recording. I may post later today.
I don't understand Cameron's obsession with the Phantom using a magic wand in the show. Bring back the original set designs! The angel, the proscenium, the trap door in the first lair descent and masquerade. The cast are wonderful but the stage is so bare.
It's 2024. 38 years after the show opened in West End. By now we should be seeing the Phantom riding the chandelier as it crashes down, while shooting out fireballs/lightning towards the cast of Il Muto and the audience, before dramatically flying away up towards the roof.
@@beneddiected even then, the phantom set doesn't exactly line up with the palais garnier; it was never supposed to. however, maria bjornson took inspiration from the palais garnier and created her own world inspired by it. that is what made maria's set so iconic. the angel served not only as the rooftop statue, but also as a metaphor for the themes of the show. THAT's the genius of bjornson that was so carelessly thrown out in favor of $$$. not to mention with the way the stage is set up during this scene, the horse (in my opinion) looks out of place.
I agree. We need to find every Prop and Costume from Phantom’s original staging, and we need to do it before it’s too late! But, I don’t know how or where to begin looking. Please, my fellow Phantom Phans, can you help me?
That was worse than I imagined. That horse thing is terrible and doesn’t work as a metaphor like the Fallen Angel does. And the red curtain upstage from the boxes? And that ugly chandelier? Yuck I would rather Phantom stays closed than this mess ever coming to New York.
You should see what we got in Italy: remember that american tour with no candelabra, a bed on the scene, the blindfolding, Erik not looking at Christine when she comes back to give him the ring... Ok, there is Ramin. And Ramin IS Ramin. I can understand a less expensive restaging but WHY change the relationship between Erik and Christine? Ah, "because she realizes he his dangerous and TOXIC for her". Ok, you can attend the show and keep your eyes closed. I just heard a recording of the opening night in Trieste and it's okay.
Think of it as a non-replica production. There’s things that work and things that don’t work but it still serves its purpose for the musical (not play). So it’s not ruined, u just like a certain version of it.
Absolutely pathetic Phantom. He sounds almost bored as if he just wants to get this show over with. He’s not the Phantom he’s playing the phantom. It’s a borderline insult to the show itself and the great phantoms of the past. Honesty if this was the shit they were trotting out there at the end I’m glad it closed before it degenerates to a shell of itself like everything sacred in society
A little harsh but I agree I don't like this performance as the Phantom. This is the only clip I've seen of him so it might not be characteristic of his performance as a whole, but this take on the reprise feels so... flat. There's no emotion in his delivery and he sticks to the beat which makes it a little bit boring.
I miss the angel bring it back😢

They got rid of it because the new bigger chandelier needed more wire support
@@kaitlynrowena5463 that makes sense but, the rest of the proscenium seems bare without it 😢
Yeah! Bring back The Angel! No. Check that. Bring Phantom back to Broadway and America!
What?! There is a new bigger Chandelier?
Wow amazing quality! I've yet to see this 'newer' version live, but this chandelier crash is much better than before!

I was sat in row c roughly in he middle and honestly that thing coming towards you is terrifying
That was a nice vantage point!!
The Gantom is honestly so good

I saw James Gant in 2022, when he was the understudy so he is new as principal phantom but not new as the phantom :)@@ed56533
Why didn't they do the apollos lyre like in the book? A horse is kinda just random
The version you referred to is the Restaged version
I promise I’ll do all the Phantom asks me to do!
How did you manage to record it😅 this show is amazing can't wait to go again !
Lucky I guess
Do you have the final lair from this performance by any chance?
Just the audio, I may post it later this week if there’s interest.
Do you have the London overture and chandelier rise?

Had forgotten they revamped the original.

It's on the italian, spain production
So much better then the broadway crash!!!
Nothing was better than The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway! We must bring it back to Broadway in its entirety!
@@christinedaae7323 I agree! The London has an amazing chandelier crash. The sparks!!! And lighting effects 😍😍😍😍
Maria Bjornson’s chandelier crash was perfect. This was a budget crash.
I highly concur with you!
I Wish They Would of Keep The Angel To Be Honest I Am Not a Fan Of The Horse
The horse is an actual statue on the roof of Palais Garnier tho
I wish they would of keep the Angel

“TheHorse” it was in the original set of AIAOY
Bring back the ORIGINAL Phantom of the Opera! You have ruined the play. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you, destroy a Masterpiece
