Why I really love this musical is how the Phantom is clearly the antagonist of the show, but it's written in such a way that you really sympathize with him and you wish he had a happy ending too. And Ramin sells the character so well that every time he sings about Christine, your heart breaks.
@Jonathan Parks He's not even a man at that point then. He basically morphs into the embodiment of that Phantom of the Opera. What's interesting, if one wanted to dive into the mental state of these characters (and I am no Psychologist or even sociologist), but it seems to Ramin Karimloo that The Phantom seems to have a good amount of signs of having autism (or to a higher functioning form of it), and Christine also seems to have BPD.
and at the very end of the show when the music box is playing masquerade and he is left sad in his dungeon somewhat singing along all you can feel is the desperation he feels and its just so sad
I love hearing Hadley talk about how he, like, had only learned this song 3 days before, and just IS NOT part of the Phantom Family legacy like Sierra and Ramin are. Not that he's too good/not good enough, It's just not his thing, but because he was in the 25th anniversary everyone assumes he's super knowledgable and into the history and community around Phantom, and he's just like "... nah man. I was just praying I didn't forget the words! that work schedule for the 25th was CRAZY." and I love and respect that!
@@dargonfrot I thought they butchered almost everyone's character in LND. I watched it because other PotO friends said I should watch it and it was incredibly painful.
Can I just say Ramin has ridiculous control over his voice, you can especially tell in “I gave you my music, let your song take wing, and now”, it’s a high pitch and he doesn’t falter and you can just hear the control, all while also singing it with soft and subtle emotion. He’s so so talented.
I will never understand why the reprise is not hyped up. The raw emotion in Ramin (The Phantom's) voice is absolutely perfect on its own, and he managed to add the physical emotion as well. You can see the tears welling us in his eyes, and when he covers his ears, you can feel his utter heartbreak. I have no words-- this performance was perfect.
Right?? Its like by shaking his head, he's thinking "oh no, i've lost her! Im gonna be all alone again, back to the cold, lonely, darkness!" Poor thing!
It's funny, my girlfriend got me into Phantom when we both were teenagers and she said that was the only part she didn't like. If you ask someone to say they love you, you want to hear the words "I love you" not "You know I do". And honestly, I think she had a good point.
When I was a child, I was obsessed with Phantom. I thought Christine should have chosen him, not Raoul. But now, as an adult, I can understand why she chose Raoul.
@@gos9030 fam...he just...loves her so much???? Literally all he wants is for her to be happy and alive. Genuinely tragic that most of his Final Lair lines are hidden underneath the Erik/Christine harmonized argument because he's being legit strangled while saying lines like "for pity's sake, Christine say no! Don't throw your life away for my sake!" and "Why make her lie to you to save me?!” and "Christine, forgive me! Please forgive me! I did it all for you and all for nothing!” Do you realize that he was asking her to let him die so she could be free? He was literally willing to be tortured/killed by an obsessive stalker so that Christine could be free and happy. It's the only REAL personal desire he shows in the whole musical: Christine alive, healthy, and happy. And like...his Big Duet with Christine backs this up!!! The only things he asks of her in the entire song is to love him ("love me, that's all I ask of you") and let him allow her to feel safe and free ("let me be your shelter"/"let me be your freedom"). This whole song is like....*chef's kiss* honestly. He's basically just a genuinely sweet, thoughtful, loyal, protective man who would go to the ends of the earth for Christine and was willing to die so she wouldn't be trapped with Erik for the rest of her life. Also he makes her laugh and understands her deep grief over losing her father (because he knew Mr. Daae as well). That man? My god...*I* want to marry that man. Meanwhile like....imagine genuinely wanting Christine to end up with the man who groomed her, stalked her, harrassed and manipulated her, kidnapped her on two separate occasions, killed two of her coworkers, was going to force her to marry him against her will, tried to kill her fiancé while guilt-tripping her into thinking it would be her own fault (“buy his freedom with your love! Refuse me and you send your lover to his death!”), tried to kill her (with the chandelier), and generally made her life a living hell for at least a year. Lol. Hard pass. tl;dr: In "All I Ask of You," Christine tells Raoul that "all [she wants] is freedom/a world with no more night," implicitly rejecting Mr. "Music of the Night" and the terror he brings. Raoul, because he loves her, swears to give that to Christine as best as he is able and then spends the rest of the musical proving it, including being willing to sacrifice his own life so she can have both her freedom and a life without being trapped by the "night" (Erik)...unlike Erik, who terrorizes her and repeatedly tries to isolate her, manipulate her, and trap her in the darkness at the cost of both her physical and mental health (which of course she reveals to Raoul in "Twisted Every Way", because by that point she's very reasonably terrified of Erik and the long-term consequences of staying in a place where he has access to her).
A line from the book: 'He (the phantom) filled Christine's mind, through the terror with which he inspired her, but the dear child's heart belonged wholly to the Vicomte Raoul de Chagny.' So there.
@Buga Duga There's always a book, huh? I'm not surprised, as there is a book for Les Miserables as well and I've read that translated version of Victor Hugo's story. It truly is one-of-a-kind. It is dark, but then again, so was times in Hugo's day, and even now times are looking grim with the Taliban taking over.
The Phantom abused Christine for a decade ( SINCE SHE WAS A CHILD ) and only sees her as a mouthpiece for his ' music '. Its fatal obsession and he never sees ber as a human Raoul loves and adores Christine so much to the point he is willing to risk his life for her several times, cared immensely for her happiness and wellbeing ( even in Notes 2, where he is torn between the plan and Christine and ultimately rushes to a frantic Christine ) is a passionate, impulsive yet genuine and sweet fellow. And of course Christine loves Raoul unconditionally and never loved the Phantom. She loathes The kiss on the lips ( or the forehead in the book ) was a kiss and final attempt to beg the Phantom to let her and Raoul go. She was so terrified and so in despair that she will do whatever it takes to save Raoul and herself.
@@chummanki9711 I happen to think she did love the Phantom. Just not the way he wanted. He was there for her when she was lonely and a great comfort. He is the reason her voice is so beautiful (or at least trained to prima donna level) and they shared a connection through music. I think her crying at the end was showing that she mourns the loss of that connection. But she never saw him the way he saw her and the kiss is from desperation. I also think the Phantom did love christine but given how he spent his life being treated that love swiftly turned to obsession and his actions were wrong. But I don't think it's fair to say it was only obsession because if that were the case I don't believe he would have let her go in the end. Phantom is the opitimy of if you love something you have to be ae to let it go. Also I don't like idea though of her throwing away her musical talent and career to marry into the aristocracy. Even if Raoul is a fairly decent guy who may love her. It would be a gilded cage. And I always got the sense she chose him more because he was the safer option.
hadley is genuinely such a talented actor. obviously he has a beautiful voice as well, but his acting is really exceptional among musical theatre professionals.
*Things I love about this musical number:* 0:46 Christine confesses her feelings first 1:01 Raoul's look of disbelief + currently processing this information 1:44 Raoul realizing "This girl is finally mine!" 2:30 Raoul kneels, Christine chooses to join him. Some other productions have Christine pull Raoul back up so he stands, but I prefer it the other way :) 3:11 [TARGET LOCKED] 3:55 YYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! 3:56 The fact Hadley can pick up Sierra and spin her around :) 4:00 The giggle is contagious 4:13 Raoul adorably asking for another kiss :)
@ugly dog Very good observations. I saw Phantom twice, once back in 2013 and she was a brand new stage actor that had gotten the lead out of nowhere, and she was very cute and charming, but played it very close to how Sierra does. The second time I saw them with my parents, the Phantom was played by Ben Crawford (who is a bit more of a poppy voice, but it worked for what he had to do), now, Christine, she was played by a 25-year-old, fresh-out-of-college vocal student who had 1 professional job prior to getting the lead role of Christine Daae. She was fabulous, but she brought a real youthfulness to the character. However, I definitely like this cast the most. I didn't think about things that deeply like that.
@ugly dog I also feel like this is the most "accurate" way to play their dynamic since childhood friends would likely be more playful and innocent with one another, even if the society itself was a bit more rigid
I love how you pointed out that Christine confesses her feelings first! This whole time Raoul has been so happy to see his childhood friend again, but he also has strong feelings for her that grow even stronger throughout the story. He has always been protective of Christine, but in this scene he just starts the song by trying to comfort her, because even though he doesn't believe in the phantom, he believes in Christine and wants her to know that no matter what she's going through, he will always be there for her. Then, the song shifts into a deeper love song as Christine suddenly reveals her feelings. She not only sees him as her dear friend, but as someone she loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with. He is her light, and all she wants is to be with him always. His expressions from 1:01-1:16 show that this was more than he had hoped for, that the dream he had treasured is suddenly a possible reality, because she feels the same way that he does when he's with her.
The two grand romantic songs in the musical are Music of the Night and All I Ask of You and I think it says a lot about the relationships that only one of them is a duet. While Music of the Night is the Phantom basically telling Christine to abandon everything she knows and cares about for him, All I Ask of You is a duet with Raoul asking Christine for permission to be by her side.
The way Raoul looks at Christine and the way he treats her is what every girl wants in a prince to treat her. It's like I'm eating the best chocolate ice cream, it's that indulgent!
This story is basically the realisation of most women’s dreams; the handsome loving Prince and the charming romantic monster battling it out for her affection.
Music starts: Hadley’s brain: “This is the duet? What are the words again?” Hadley’s voice: “I’ve got this and it will be perfect.” Ramin offstage: shaking his head at Hadley
This actually happened lol. Hadley said in a podcast with Ramin that he genuinely didn't remember/was uncertain of the lyrics right before he had to get on and sing
let me just point out that hadley is wearing heels and guy-liner because they told him it would be a “powerful look” and the sheer amount of foundation on poor hadley 😂 either way all three of them absolutly crushed it. The holy trinity if you will.
@peacelovechocolate in some shots He looks like almost the same height as sierra but in xome he looks like a good head taller and they’re probably both wearing heels
@Anjelica Snorcket I am amused by the sense of triumphalism from all the so called Phans who claimed to be obsessed by the show, yet cannot be arsed to buy it. (lol). I note that ALW has now announced a date for the show to resume in London If it does start on time expect a stripped back, cost cutting, production.
@Anjelica Snorcket I suspect that the rationale for posting this clip is quite cynical and nothing to do with being 'bullied'. Although recent shows are quite worthy they are more limited in their appeal, and activity on this site has quietened in the last few weeks. In order to satisfy the demands of Google and RUclips's algorithms, and end up at the top of the pile, they need 'hits'. This also increases ad revenue: hence stirring up the pot with another POTO clip. ALW needs the publicity to aid his campaign, and he has long standing links with Universal (At one time they owned 30% of Really Useful)). I would be interested to learn what sort of return he gets from the promotion of shows filmed in his LW group theatres, such as 42nd Street. It looks very incestuous.
God the reprise literally breaks my heart Ramin is so perfectly expressive. Sierra and Hadly also did a fantastic job. This is the holy trinity of phantom actors
0:13 funny that Hadley himself said that at this point he just didn't know if he could sing the next lyrics properly... as in he had forgotten the lyrics in his mind but... THEY CAME OUT JUST FINE when he started singing.
its about the raw tenderness of the line "anywhere you go, let me go too". its another rendition of "dont go where i cant follow"! its about the LOVE and COMMITMENT and DEVOTION!!!!
Actually Carlotta's role is way more demanding. For her role you have to have actual Opera training, while for Christine's you don't. The hardest part of Christine's role is the Eb she does at the end of "The Phantom Of the Opera", which most sopranos can do with training, and learning to use whistle register. However, Carlotta had to sing some serious notes, especially during the Don Juan rehearsal.
That broken little "no" kills me. Imagine hearing the woman u love talking about u, describing u as hideous, scary and God knows what. I can imagine Erik slumped, leaning on the opposite side of the wall and shaking his head as he wipes his tears. As soon as his hand brushed under the mask, he'd be cursing at himself for being the way he is. I made myself cry. 😭
@@sailorV124 he didn't know better. In his defense, he was a child and locked in a cage, never showered with affection. All his life people used him and never showed kindness. He didn't know how to approach this new feelings for Christine. So his primal human nature told him to hurt whoever threatened Christine's stage presence or whatever. He acted on impulse. rashly, yes. But IF they'd have spoken, I'm pretty sure Erik wouldn't have killed. he wouldn't have done anything Christine didn't approve of. Remember in PTPNR he he sings 'all I ask of you' he's begging, his soul is screaming for Christine to love him. Hes singing a song which broke his heart, it's his last chance. And u can hear the choke in the back of his throat. I made myself cry again.
the orchestra carrying on the music when Ramin stops singing at 5:56 is such a beautiful moment. it perfectly communicates the phantom's heartbreak and how he physically wasn't able to keep singing. and the little moments where he almost inaudibly whispers Christine's name to himself just bring his feelings of betrayal to life. so well done
Fun fact: Erik is actually autistic. I bet he couldn’t keep talking because he was going through verbal shutdown. His emotions were just too overwhelming. Thank you so much for noticing this btw
@cadaverous6 do you have more information about it? I would love reading about it. I always assumed him to be a musical genius and someone extremely traumatized, but didn't know more.
So I personally think the relationship between Christine and the Phantom is deeply unhealthy (and incredibly one-sided), but I love the line where the Phantom sings "He (Raoul) was bound to love you, when he heard you sing" because the implication is that he fell in "love" with Christine when he himself heard her thing and I just think that's just an incredibly interesting and poignant detail. (Thank you for coming to my TED talk.)
I always thought of that line as the Phantom blaming himself for Christine and Raoul reconciling. He taught Christine to sing, arranged for her to perform in the gala, which just so happened to be when raoul shows up again. Without the phantom’s guidance, Christine doesn’t have any success and languishes in the chorus as the shy naive girl we meet at the beginning, and raoul probably doesn’t even notice her.
Hadley is so underrated, his range his insane - I watched him in this and assumed he was a baritone yet in in other videos he’s hitting high notes only a tenor should he able to.
I just love Sierra Boggess and her Christine. Even though seeing Phantom moan breaks my heart, I can't hate Christine for being in love and happy..All I Ask of You is such a good song and I love all the people in it.
ugly dog I kinda agree, she does some things really well but others not so much - she’s kinda 50/50 for me (however Hadley’s def my least favourite of this entire cast...) But then few Christine’s are perfect
I consider Sierra & Ramin to be the modern-day heirs to Sarah Brightman & Michael Crawford. They are THE BEST pair to play Christine & The Phantom in this day & age. I say this as someone who's been a fan since 1988.
In the mirror scene, christine calls the phantom her "guide and guardian"... You can just imagine how much it must hurt him at 4:41 when she sings these same words to raoul instead 💔
This is the most romantic song - and scene for that matter - ever. I refuse to accept the existance of "Love Never Dies". Never saw it, never will. Christine and Raoul are pure love. The Phantom is pure obsession and madness. He's the finest definition of toxic.
Much better than the movie...In this performance, it is clear that Raoul and Christine are in love with eachother for the sake of being in love. In the movie, it seems as though Christine is only around Raoul for protection. This musical captures how Raoul's protection of Christine against the Phantom transcends the psychotic situation of the Phantom kidnapping Christine and instead, we can see Raoul use this situation as a way to prove to Christine that he'll be there for her both in her current situation but also in years beyond. Really well done!
I still don't like her marrying into the aristocracy and throwing away her career and talent. But I do agree with you (although in fairness the movie isn't a high bar ) the 25th is the ultimate version though imo
@@ChristineTheHippie happiness with someone she barely knew as an adult? Happy in a role that would stifle her clear love of music and talent. A life spent being scorned by all around her. His family would likely not approve and the aristocracy would not appreciate what they would see as a social climbing gold digger. It would be a gilded cage she should have gone on and kept singing professionally thriving in a career she loved
"Christine I lOOOOoooOOOOOOooove youuuu." Always brings tears to my eyes. And then when Phantom says it in the final lair, omg. Makes me cry every time, too!
It's not canon, it's basically glorified fanfiction. Love Never Dies wasn't written by the person who originally wrote Phantom of the Opera so it's story and portrayal of characters isn't even close to accurate, it was obviously made by someone biased to the Phantom and wanted a different ending.

@@athenavictoria9731 i always find it weird how in this performance you have that interpretation of the ending, but then in 'point of no return' christine doesn't even realise she's singing with the phantom until the very end of the song. it feels like the end is really alluding to christine having a romantic attachment to the phantom, but then ponr completely denies it. i love the 25th to bits but i've just always found that inconsistency bizarre?
For me, it was always like she's... hypnotized most of the time. She and Phantom I see as being enchanted or bewitched by someone you admire: you may think you love this person, but you don't.
Even if Christine does love the Phantom, it's definitely not healthy. He started their 'relationship' by pretending to be her Angel of Music. He kills two people, tricks her into singing a sex song, strangles her, throws her on the ground, forces the ring on her finger, threatens to kill her fiancee. But it's okay guys cos he loves her and he's damaged????
@@cece-707 Sorry this is coming a year later, but anyway, in this version of PonR, the Phantom is singing with an Italian accent to pretend to be Piange except for certain emotional high points when he loses control. Christine isn't singing to the Phantom; she's playing the part in the Phantom's play while thinking it's the other lead actor. It's not until the Phantom breaks character and then she feels his mask under the costume that she realizes the truth and tries to bolt. She was absolutely terrified of the Phantom despite loving him for being her inspiration and foundation of music. In the final confrontation down in the Phantom's lair, she goes through a lot of emotions. Fear, hate, pity, hope, and then sadness in the acceptance of letting him go and knowing he let her go.

my favorite part of this is their acting. they are obviously amazing singers but their acting here seriously just makes it. the pain in ramin’s face during the reprise, the amount of intensity hadley looks at sierra with, and the love sierra looks at hadley with. they are all just incredible
This is my favorite rendition of Raoul and Erik, he still disregards Christine’s pleas at times, however you can see that he is more caught up in the threat of Erik trying to kidnap her, however their their love is seen as pure and innocent, naive, while Erik manages to portray both an amazing antagonist and tragic villain. I can sympathize with him in this so well, the pain in his voice, while also having the rage and feelings of betrayal and vengeance. ( even though christine was never his to begin, he saw her as his saving grace, only to have her run in fear to her more elegant love interest. The person he so desperately wishes he could be to her. )
My God; the smoothness of Ramin’s falsetto is unreal. I remember the first time I watched POTO 25, I rewound this part at least five times to listen again because he’s *just that good*.

The way ramin acts this scene is just perfect, you can feel the sadness that the phantom feels. All he wants is for someone to love him 😩😩 brilliant trio of actors. 🤩 so glad i have this on dvd 😍👍🏻
THIS. I'm not a crier but the first time I watched PotO25, I cried my first tears (of the show) in this scene. It's not even a sad scene! But I don't know, the passion of it all, the chemistry between Hadley and Sierra. Tears. Just tears. And then Ramin pops up in the end with that heartbreaking piece and the tears just kept flowing. I'll always love this production. Always. Brava.
I cried too!! I do cry quite a bit at movies/tv, but usually over sad scenes and parent/child relationships. This was probably the first time I’ve cried at something because it was so romantic 😂
I’m not sure if this is a popular or unpopular opinion, but I simply pretend the plot of Love Never Dies doesn’t exist. It simply doesn’t jive with the characterizations of their relationship in Phantom.
That's a pretty popular opinion from what I can tell (and one I agree with). Maybe not so much within the fanbase, though I'm not an expert on that. LND also essentially had a completely different production team except for ALW (who was going through a bit of a personal crisis when he wrote it too) and the plot was based off a janky book by yet another guy so there's quite a lot against it being canon.
This reprised version with Hadley, Sierra and Ramin will forever be my favourite. You can feel every emotion when they sing each line and their expressions, especially Ramin’s heartache after hearing Christine choosing Raoul. AMAZING. 🥺 wish I could watch this live some day.
When Erik sings "he was bound to love you, when he heard you sing," he slowly whispers "Just as I did (when I had heard you sing?)" afterward in time with the music. It really breaks my heart... In that moment, it even seems like he understands Raoul, and understands how much they love each other. That makes it all the more tragic to watch him lose it and slip into anger at the end. The entire performance as a whole was breathtaking, honestly.
This production of phantom of the opera musical in my opinion was the best one. Their voices, acting and characteristics were spot on. The chemistry between them was amazing.
Three of the absolute best in musical theater in our time. I've never even been a particular fan of Phantom (no disrespect to to the proper POTO fans), but this specific production with these three actors caused me to finally and truly fall in love with this story, this music, and this show. Holy amazeballs, they're good.
I just rewatched this version after a couple years, and the phantom's reprise made me cry for like 10 minutes. The sheer heartbreak feels so incredibly real, especially the part where he has to just LISTEN to Christine and Raoul share a beautiful, special moment in the distance. The worst part is that they really are the best possible match, and their love truly is wonderful and special. It's Christine's light in the dark. There is no injustice in this scenario. It's the good ending, and the Phantom, the antagonist, is left all alone. He knows that he is a defeated villain out of reach of the love he needs so badly. He has to WATCH that love he's never gotten to experience, and still can't. It's beyond tragic. No wonder it destroys him to the point where he snaps.
All of them are iconic in this. Personal opinion: obviously, Christine was in love with Raoul and afraid of the Phantom (he was a psychopath after all).
I could only ever dream to be as strong a singer, or half as talented as Hadley Fraser, so no bad will intended, just happened to notice that he ALMOST forgot his line at 00:21 . Maybe its a breath, but what an insanely legendary save catching himself like that. Sounded like maybe he was going to say tears instead of fears.

Right? I LOVE Ramin and Sierra more than words can express, but Hadley has been criminally overlooked on this channel for far too long.

Hadley makes me actually like Raoul
Can I just say Ramin has ridiculous control over his voice, you can especially tell in “I gave you my music, let your song take wing, and now”, it’s a high pitch and he doesn’t falter and you can just hear the control, all while also singing it with soft and subtle emotion. He’s so so talented.
I'll say. His control and falsetto r amazing
All phantoms do.
No you can't say for some reason it is banned
@@snoozyq9576 Yeah it's illegal. Shame shame shame (please get the reference)
Although I think a falter would have added more emotion since it would sound more like he's sobbing.
Totally agree. His performance is totally magnificent. I can really feel his heartbreak turns into anger, and some tears were shed too :(
Just one of the many moments in the 25th anniversary production that has me weeping in .2 seconds
I’ve seen the show three times in two decades and no one even comes close to this cast
The reprise is like my favourite moment in the entire show. Ramin sings it phenomenally.
“say you love me”
“you know i do”

It's funny, my girlfriend got me into Phantom when we both were teenagers and she said that was the only part she didn't like. If you ask someone to say they love you, you want to hear the words "I love you" not "You know I do". And honestly, I think she had a good point.
@@soilent9618 i think it's sweet now I don't 😂

I did it all for you and all for nothing!”
Do you realize that he was asking her to let him die so she could be free?

THE WAY RAOUL LOOKS AT CHRISTINE AT 4:22 AND PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY THAT HE DOESN’T LOVE HER
Funny thing is it’s the *Phantom* who doesn’t really love her, it’s obsession and he doesn’t see her as human
The Phantom abused Christine for a decade ( SINCE SHE WAS A CHILD ) and only sees her as a mouthpiece for his ' music '. Its fatal obsession and he never sees ber as a human
Raoul loves and adores Christine so much to the point he is willing to risk his life for her several times, cared immensely for her happiness and wellbeing ( even in Notes 2, where he is torn between the plan and Christine and ultimately rushes to a frantic Christine ) is a passionate, impulsive yet genuine and sweet fellow.
And of course Christine loves Raoul unconditionally and never loved the Phantom. She loathes
The kiss on the lips ( or the forehead in the book ) was a kiss and final attempt to beg the Phantom to let her and Raoul go.

@ugly dog and that’s why the 25 th anniversary is the best
Not to mention 0:13 where Hadley is contemplating whether he remembers the lyrics or should he just run away from the stage ......
Seeing Erik covering his ear and muttering "no" when Christine and Raoul are singing is heart breaking

Christine has got to be one of the most demanding roles in any musical; the range you need is INSANE O.o
Christine seems like the opera equivalent of Odette in Swan Lake. Very demanding role, almost always on stage.
Carlotta's role is FAR more difficult

He acted on impulse. rashly, yes. But IF they'd have spoken, I'm pretty sure Erik wouldn't have killed. he wouldn't have done anything Christine didn't approve of.

Hadley harmonizes so well with Sierra here. They sound so good together.
I also like how it shows how the character tends to project his own thoughts onto other people which is also a pretty good detail, I think.
I think you are spot on and that's why she doesn't choose him in the end though I still have some sympathy for the phantom.
6:36 The transition between despair and anger is amazing.

This is the most romantic song - and scene for that matter - ever.
I refuse to accept the existance of "Love Never Dies". Never saw it, never will.
Christine and Raoul are pure love. The Phantom is pure obsession and madness. He's the finest definition of toxic.
Ten years on and it's still the best performance of Phantom I've ever seen.

Say you love me
[Raoul]
You know I do
[Both]
Love me, that's all I ask of you.
Anywhere you go, let me go too
Love me, that's all I ask of you
my favorite part of this is their acting. they are obviously amazing singers but their acting here seriously just makes it. the pain in ramin’s face during the reprise, the amount of intensity hadley looks at sierra with, and the love sierra looks at hadley with. they are all just incredible
Hadley looks as though he has never heard this response and is so blown away. I love him, Sierra and Ramin.
.
The person he so desperately wishes he could be to her. )
Every time Raoul sings "you know I do" after Christine asks him to love her, my heart bursts
My God; the smoothness of Ramin’s falsetto is unreal. I remember the first time I watched POTO 25, I rewound this part at least five times to listen again because he’s *just that good*.
It's technically mix voice not pure falsetto that's how he goes right into full chest voice in the midst of a line. It's so freakin perfectly done!
RAOUL
No more talk of darkness,
Forget these wide-eyed fears
I'm here, nothing can harm you
my words will warm and calm you
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears.
I'm here with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you...
CHRISTINE
Say you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertime...
Say you need me with you now and always...
Promise me that all you say is true
that's all I ask of you
RAOUL
Let me be your shelter
let me be your light
You're safe, No one will find you
your fears are far behind you...
CHRISTINE
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night
and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me...
RAOUL
Then say you'll share with me
one love, one lifetime
let me lead you from your solitude
Say you need me with you here, beside you...
anywhere you go, let me go too
Christine, that's all I ask of you...
CHRISTINE
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime...
say the word and I will follow you...

R u doubting that I know all the words?!?
Raoul: *You know I do*

same though
The all I ask of you reprise is definitely one of the most powerful moments in the whole show I love it so much
I agree, it's where everything goes to shizzlewhiz
of course the Phantom’s part is heartbreaking, but the way he just pops up over the railing makes me giggle every time.
The way ramin acts this scene is just perfect, you can feel the sadness that the phantom feels. All he wants is for someone to love him 😩😩 brilliant trio of actors. 🤩 so glad i have this on dvd 😍👍🏻
I just bought the DVD... can't wait to watch it!
@@silentsmurf right?! 😂 at first, I was like, tears? Why? WTH am I crying over this scene? It was just so beautifully romantic!
Oh trust me most will agree
Same. The plot is so bad...
The entire performance as a whole was breathtaking, honestly.
obsessed with the way Sierra pronounces her L's and Hadley's voice in general
edit: And the sheer emotion from Ramin
3:20 so that's the kiss every human being dream of. Just magical.
godd they're all so good, hadley is my fav raoul he should definitely get more credit
I clicked as soon as I heard!

All the way from London? daaamn
All the way from London? DAMN!
I seriously ship this! I love stories of reunited childhood sweethearts!

The best song!!! We stan Raoul and Christine in this house!!!!!!!😍
Ramin in this scene… he’s just ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The emotion he portrays, the pure power in his voice! Brings me chills every single time.
Sierra, Ramin and Hadley, holy trinity of Phantom! ❤❤❤
as soon as I see Ramin's hands, i'm like; oh god the tears are about to start
All of them are iconic in this.
Personal opinion: obviously, Christine was in love with Raoul and afraid of the Phantom (he was a psychopath after all).
Mr. Karimloo's acting in this scene is heartbreaking, then he lets his anger loose. All I can say is: Wow!
Phantom: "Say you'll love me..."
Me: "You know I do..."
It only took me 6 years to realize the reprise is a direct parallel to the ending of the show. I’m such a genius.
soon enough we’ll get the entire show😌 keep going loves, which one do we need next? i say masquerade👀
Final lair guaranteed
Yes! I absolutely love the costumes in that one!
