    btw your videos are exactly what i look for in tutorials, shows example at beginning, extremely easy to understand, quick and do the point, friendly. everybody elses unreal videos i swear are way too complicated and long. youre helping me learn this program quickly i appreciate you

      That's exactly why I approach this the way I do I can't tell you how many times I've wasted time on here trying to figure something out and people don't explain it easily or they skip steps so I always try to keep that in mind when I'm recording.

      @@JonathanWinbush Great info! Quick question for you. I am trying to figure out how to export my character with both the t or a pose with the animation as an FBX file within unreal. Right now I am stuck because it seems like I can only export the individual pose or the individual animation from unreal as an FBX but I need them both combined in unreal and exported as an FBX. Any help would be appreciated. Love your videos by the way. Cheers

    okay that one last step where you select animation and select the animated file, that is key. i missed that part and ended up spending like 8 hours debugging thinking i was going crazy lol. thanks again man youre the only dude on the internet with the answer you pushed the culture forward for all of us.

    Holy shit man i couldn't figure out how to export mixamo files to unreal so what i did was animate them in cinema, export them as an alembic file and import in unreal. It was really a destructive workflow and i'm really thankful for this. Really excited for the new course man, it's really gonna help lots and lots of people.

      Yea man I knew some people was having issues with this so thats why I decided to make this portion free from my course. In my course I also show how to go right from Mixamo into UE as well.

    For a very long time I could not understand why I could not create several animations in Cinema4d and transfer them to FBX in Unreal.
    The skeleton constantly did not match. This was reported by Unreal.
    I couldn't find what the reason was. despite the fact that the skeleton was always the same from the same model. They differed only in custom animation.
    It helped me to choose FBX 7.5 2018
    I couldn't even think about it, that this could be the problem.
    and this is in Cinema2024 with Unreal 5.3

    Theres this song I like from deadmou5e forgot what it's called but it was a nice tune need to look it up now... Great video Playa.. . I just made a couple of characters in MagicaVolex.. this will help me to take them into unreal.. it will be fun.. hahahahaha.

      @@JonathanWinbush you can learn magicavolex in 30 minutes hahahahaah then after, you'll get better on blocking your shapes. but for me. MagicaVolex and Voxedit are like therapy for when you have a bad day.. you know people take their stress on sketching, well, I do it playing with volexes .hahahah it might be simple but very powerful.. I love Magicavolex rendering engine. it has a sweet engine. and Voxedit has a sweet rigging system, you can do character volex animation inside of it as well.. both are fun to play with.. but Magical has this button that turns your volex into Legos shape. hahahahaah.. its fun!!...
      I usually recommend this to people with kids that want to start messing with 3D.. your kids for example. am sure they'll like it..

    Hello, I followed the steps, but my character model/rig/animation was unable to import into UE5. I received a lot of error logs saying Mesh [geometry has no name] in the fbx file is not referenced by any hierarchy node. I only found his belt and tongue are imported....what can I probably do?

      I'm not sure i don't use cinema for characters anymore I just use iclone it's easier

    Hey, this was an amazing tutorial as usual. I'm having an issue with export/import in this workflow. My animations are coming in with the mesh correctly aligned but the animation imports with the axis wrong. The figures are coming in aligned to the Z axis instead of the Y axis. Is there a reason for this and how do I fix it? Thanks.

      Maybe check some of the other character tutorials I have on my channel maybe theres step you might see that helps. It's hard for me to say without being there through the process but I do have more recent videos on my channel might help 🤙🏿

    Great video as usual, one thing though. My mixamo characters come in distorted. Unreal suggests "export smoothing groups" but I don't see an option for that in C4d. They also suggest to adjust the mesh but that doesn't help much.

      You followed the same way I did it here? Only thing I can think of is are you using a mixamo character or your own model?

      @@JonathanWinbush It's a mixamo character. At first I put one together in fuse and sent it to mixamo but then I just used a stock mixamo character. There might be one thing. When I open the fbx in C4d it turns up as a list of polygon objects which parent poses and skins. Under these is the mixamo rig. At 4:44 on the tut you only have 2 objects listed, Ch06 and the rig. How did you bring the fbx into C4d? Thank you in advance.

      I just drag the fbx into cinema 4d and the import options pop up from there

      I don't use Xpresso at all so I haven't tested it but if you can bake the frames I don't see why not

    I am using a t-pose figure from MIxamo then using the mixamo rigging info I pose individual 'joints'.
    But I am unable to make the rigging changes stick so I can export the fbx file with posed figure, it always undoes all my rigging work and I only get a T POSED figure exported...sigh any thots? ty!

      This tutorial is pretty old I havent used c4d for characters in a bit just been easier to use iclone

      When all else fails I usually try exporting as alembic files
