Congrats on the new Datejust. I bought my first Rolex Datejust at 30 years old in the early 90s. 36mm stainless steel with white gold fluted bezel, silver dial on jubilee bracelet. I wore that watch to work every day for 20 years before retiring it. Just a classic watch and one that will serve for just about anything you want to do. Wear it in good health.
I regret I sold my 36mm SS with white gold fluted bezel a year ago as I just don’t wear it enough. That’s why I will never sell my 15 years old+ SS Daytona white dial and 40mm SeaDweller. Not gonna make the same mistake again.
I got a 1989 S/S Rolex datejust about 25 years ago from a dealer in Londons Hatton Garden. It was a 1989 watch with papers, no box. I p/x my Tudor wind up & paid £700 on top, i think i got a good deal, & the watch will be with me till they screw down the lid!
Just bought this for my wife , only waited 8 weeks . Bought from goldsmiths U.K. with no purchase history . They told me wait time could be up to 2 years . Turned up 2 months later . The wife loves it !

I saved up almost all of my wage each month (im a student who still lives at home which is how I was able to do that) and went to look at watches to buy myself for my 21st birthday in September of 2021. I ended up going into to Rolex Boutique in Glasgow and asked to get put on the waiting list for a few watches not expecting anything to come of it. I ended up getting a phone call less than 2 months later with my representative at the boutique to say that someone had pulled out of buying a DateJust 41 (blue dial, smooth bezel, and jubilee bracelet) and they offered it to me since it was for my 21st birthday. I went to see it and fell in love with it instantly. I feel like the DateJust doesn't get the appreciation it deserves until its actually seen in person. I actually think I prefer it to the submariner now because its not bulky like a dive watch is and it looks incredible in any setting. Definitely never getting rid of it. Brilliant buying experience with my representative whereas some of the other watch stores didn't take me seriously because of my age which was a bit off putting.
Congrats on the Rolex. I just walked into my AD and picked one up with oyster and smooth bezel. I paid RRP for it too. The high shine of the bezel complements the shine of the areas on the oyster bracelet. It's extremely elegant and fantastic for the hubby's first Rolex. Note - I was offered as a walk-in because I've previously bought 2 others from my AD. Wear yours in great health.
Had both. The Smooth is the one that I kept eventually. Its the perfect middle between the flashy datejusts and the sporty models for me. But ofc all of them are stunning
I've just bought this same watch. The fluted bezel was to busy for me in combination with the Jubilee bracelet. This one is perfect and not to flashy! Nice review btw👍

Beautiful watch. I have recently acquired a 36mm black face DJ on the oyster bracelet that I prefer. For me I entirely agree that this is an iconic design. I loved the information about the internal mechanism. The DJ suits people of all ages. Simple but classy in every respect.
The Datejust are an Iconic Rolex . Purchased mine in December 2019 . Luckily the dealer had the model I want at another but Branch . Took 3 days to arrive , still my favourite watch in my procession .
I absolutely love mine. I have the same exact watch except with the Oyster bracelet. I love both bracelets. Love, love, love the mint green dial. Pure Rolex perfection.
I felt the same way about the cyclops. However, after seeing it in person, I feel the cyclops is an important part of Rolex watches and in my opinion, does not take away from the beauty of the watch. I just received my DJ 41 black. Its a beautiful watch.

Congratulations on the purchase. I was lucky enough to walk into an AD and buy the 36mm version (with fluted bezel) without a waitlist back in June. I restrict myself to one ‘luxury watch’ and if I’m going to spend this much on a watch it needs to get 90% of my wrist time. As amazing as the watch was, unfortunately the ‘blinginess’ didn’t suit me and I don’t like the attention that the watch brought (this watch got more glances in 2 months than any others have in my 6 years of watch collecting!). The secondary value of the watch was the final nail in the coffin for the watch as I just couldn’t justify having such an expensive piece (even if I paid RRP). Sold it and bough bought a 114270 for half the price.

I thought about waiting until late 2022 or next year to get the mint green DJ41, and also gave the (new to me) AD several options of dial color all on Oyster bracelet. When offered the blue dial only 3 days later, I jumped and am glad I did. While the green is stunning in a vacuum, it doesn't match or actually clashes with almost everything I wear.
This passes the test. My wife doesn’t give an f about watches and the only Rolex she ever thought looked good was the platinum Daytona. She liked this with the mint green dial. Beautiful watch. Well done: great video

Hey Anthony, the actual ADs can’t mark them up or else they are in hot water with Rolex so you can buy in confidence you're getting the best price from them.
I always liked that one! Prices went high for a while there. I personally prefer the date being on a watch. But If you don’t mind I think it’s a great watch, not sure if prices have settled down yet on them?

Very good video, well done. Didn’t drag on for thirty minutes like so many videos. A great choice you made. I have the January 2023 36mm date just With the green palm motif dial. I did go with the fluted bezel. These DJ with no diamonds are very tastefully done. Mine is Extremely accurate. I have to Look down to make sure it’s still on my wrist. With the jubilee bracelet oh it’s comfortable. I definitely can tell the difference in weight over my sub And GMT. The only con is. The lume stays bright for seconds. During the middle of the night forget about reading the time. But then again it is A dress watch.
I recently got the same watch with the oyster bracelet. Even though the configuration I wanted was with the jubilee. Once I saw that dial and tried it, was love at first sight. Great video
The datejust, blue dial, fluted bezel was my first Rolex, I feel guilty for not wearing it as much as I should after landing a Sub and a Skydweller. Still waiting on a green sub.
Well done my friend! I lived a similar experience here in Switzerland at at the Bucherer store of Crans-Montana. The staff was just amazing and made me feel special. I bought my 41 mm mint green dial Datejust last July with the reversed configuration (Oyster bracelet with the other bezel ) and I just love that watch.
Hey Sam… actually it’s very easy to magnetize a mechanical watch. Rolex and omega and other main brands build there movements to withstand magnetism. In omegas case that’s over 15k gauss. Gauss is how magnetism is measured. If you have a vintage watch or a more affordable watch like something with an NH35a movement you can magnetized them from your phone, laptop, alarm clock or speakers. Also actual magnets obviously.
I tried this on when picking up my Rootbeer and I was very unimpressed with the dial colour. Maybe it needed some natural sunlight, but I left the AD not sure whether I wanted one or not. Glad you’re happy though 😎😎
Hey Darren, first off the rootbeer is an absolutely beautiful watch! For some reason in store the watch looks like it’s a silver dial? or a very diluted green. I don’t know what it was, I have never seen it that shade in any other light! I think the lights that make the watches look so shiny in store also mute the green?

I just bought two from the Caribbean in St. THOMAS. One steel with Jubilee bracelet and blue dial just gorgeous. Second one I purchased was jubilee bracelet, gold and steel with mother of pearl face and diamond markers. I love the size at 41 mm as I have a larger rest I like it better than the day date, which is only 40 mm to SMALL.

I have a two tone GMT Master. I’ve come to realize half of what you pay goes into marketing. 10% goes into taxes. 10% is profit. Finally, 30% goes into your watch. 15% disappears into depreciation as soon as you open the box. I’m selling mine. I also have a gold day date president’s, also to be gone. I just got the Casio Oceanus T200 and the Seiko Save the Ocean. The quality is outstanding. I wish my Rolex felt as solid when winding as my Seiko.

I truly do want three different models of Rolex, but the hype causing inflated prices and other associated issues in purchasing recently have me not even bothering. I went to two authenticated Rolex retailers and they both told me that I couldn’t get on a waiting list and I just need to come to the stores often and if I’m lucky they have something in stock. Why can’t I be put on a waiting list for one?
Hey, I don’t know where your based but this is not how it works here in Florida. I have been on a list twice with Rolex. Are you going to a Rolex boutique or a local AD. That seems like an individual store policy not something direct from Rolex.

New viewer here! Congrats on that beauty. The mint green dial doesn’t look all that fancy on the Rolex website, but after seeing it on your video, it does looks stunning (I’d say it looks royal, were it to have gilded indices and logo at 12). The smooth bezel really goes well with the high polished case. I also agree that the jubilee bracelet is a must for that classic Datejust look and experience. My only nag with your Datejust in particular is that I would have gone with the 36 instead of the 41, even with your 7.2 inch wrist, but I’m aware that this is entirely subjective (I have a 7 inch wrist and will go for the 36 if I manage to get my hands on one). It’s still a beauty on your wrist, though. 👌

@@CasualWatchReviews The 41mm is poorly proportioned - looks more akin to a clock rather than a wristwatch. 36mm looks good on all wrists, it's never "too small". If you want a larger watch, get a sub, gmt, daytona, etc that are proportioned correctly - you'll find the dial size in a 41mm sub is near identical to the dial size in a dj36, which is key to a correctly proportioned watch. I'm sorry to say that the datejust should come no larger than 36mm, and that your dj41 is rather hideous. Not quite as hideous as a dj2, but still ugly - whereas the dj36 is one of the most gorgeous watches around.
Personally, I love the Datejust, and that configuration you have is stunning. Not sure about it being an "investment," but they should hold good value if cared for and kept with their original box and papers.

I’ve had my steel datejust on jubilee since 1987. Daily wear from 87-08. Still going strong. Now it’s on rotation with a steel sub.

Congrats, I went for the two tone yellow gold with the fluted bezel and the silver dial. Totally in love with the watch. ( love the mint dial btw )
I thought about waiting until late 2022 or next year to get the mint green DJ41, and also gave the (new to me) AD several options of dial color all on Oyster bracelet. When offered the blue dial only 3 days later, I jumped and am glad I did. While the green is stunning in a vacuum, it doesn't match or actually clashes with almost everything I wear.
Yep the blue is a good choice, I was toying with that and the grey. That was why I couldn’t decide! The green really spoke to me!

Hey Anthony, the actual ADs can’t mark them up or else they are in hot water with Rolex so you can buy in confidence you're getting the best price from them.

With the green palm motif dial. I did go with the fluted bezel. These DJ with no diamonds are very tastefully done. Mine is Extremely accurate. I have to

And GMT. The only con is. The lume stays bright for seconds. During the middle of the night forget about reading the time. But then again it is

Well done my friend! I lived a similar experience here in Switzerland at at the Bucherer store of Crans-Montana. The staff was just amazing and made me feel special. I bought my 41 mm mint green dial Datejust last July with the reversed configuration (Oyster bracelet with the other bezel ) and I just love that watch.

Hey Sam… actually it’s very easy to magnetize a mechanical watch. Rolex and omega and other main brands build there movements to withstand magnetism. In omegas case that’s over 15k gauss. Gauss is how magnetism is measured. If you have a vintage watch or a more affordable watch like something with an NH35a movement you can magnetized them from your phone, laptop, alarm clock or speakers. Also actual magnets obviously.
I tried this on when picking up my Rootbeer and I was very unimpressed with the dial colour. Maybe it needed some natural sunlight, but I left the AD not sure whether I wanted one or not. Glad you’re happy though 😎😎

For some reason in store the watch looks like it’s a silver dial? or a very diluted green. I don’t know what it was, I have never seen it that shade in any other light! I think the lights that make the watches look so shiny in store also mute the green?

I just bought two from the Caribbean in St. THOMAS. One steel with Jubilee bracelet and blue dial just gorgeous. Second one I purchased was jubilee bracelet, gold and steel with mother of pearl face and diamond markers. I love the size at 41 mm as I have a larger rest I like it better than the day date, which is only 40 mm to SMALL.

I have a two tone GMT Master. I’ve come to realize half of what you pay goes into marketing. 10% goes into taxes. 10% is profit. Finally, 30% goes into your watch. 15% disappears into depreciation as soon as you open the box. I’m selling mine. I also have a gold day date president’s, also to be gone. I just got the Casio Oceanus T200 and the Seiko Save the Ocean. The quality is outstanding. I wish my Rolex felt as solid when winding as my Seiko.

Hey guys, I want to get a hold of a oyster perpetual or a datejust. I went to two authenticated Rolex retailers and they both told me that I couldn’t get on a waiting list and I just need to come to the stores often and if I’m lucky they have something in stock. Why can’t I be put on a waiting list for one?
Hey, I don’t know where your based but this is not how it works here in Florida. I have been on a list twice with Rolex. Are you going to a Rolex boutique or a local AD. That seems like an individual store policy not something direct from Rolex.

New viewer here! Congrats on that beauty. The mint green dial doesn’t look all that fancy on the Rolex website, but after seeing it on your video, it does looks stunning (I’d say it looks royal, were it to have gilded indices and logo at 12). The smooth bezel really goes well with the high polished case. I also agree that the jubilee bracelet is a must for that classic Datejust look and experience. My only nag with your Datejust in particular is that I would have gone with the 36 instead of the 41, even with your 7.2 inch wrist, but I’m aware that this is entirely subjective (I have a 7 inch wrist and will go for the 36 if I manage to get my hands on one). It’s still a beauty on your wrist, though. 👌

@@CasualWatchReviews The 41mm is poorly proportioned - looks more akin to a clock rather than a wristwatch. 36mm looks good on all wrists, it's never "too small". If you want a larger watch, get a sub, gmt, daytona, etc that are proportioned correctly - you'll find the dial size in a 41mm sub is near identical to the dial size in a dj36, which is key to a correctly proportioned watch. I'm sorry to say that the datejust should come no larger than 36mm, and that your dj41 is rather hideous. Not quite as hideous as a dj2, but still ugly - whereas the dj36 is one of the most gorgeous watches around.
Personally, I love the Datejust, and that configuration you have is stunning. Not sure about it being an "investment," but they should hold good value if cared for and kept with their original box and papers.
