    oyster bracelet & smooth bezel on 41 and jubilee & fluted bezel on 36. these are my go to :)

      💯 agree. The fluted bezel and jubilee is more dressy suiting the smaller watch.

    Even though MANY feel the Date Just does not need to be larger than 36mm. It’s already bling, and very noticeable. If Tony Soprano or famous large men thought history wore 36mm Date Just or Day Dates. 36mm is ok. However the 36mm has its limits. On big wrists big guys 7 & 1/2 plus wrists a 36mm will look small. The 41mm will look more balanced on larger men. If you’re small twisted a 41mm will make you look like you are trying too hard. It pops and sometimes it’s not a good thing. A classic rule of thumb (subjective) gold, two tone, jubilee bracelet Rolex it’s ok at 36mm. Let the design and material do its job. It will pop on wrist without trying. Oyster steel bracelet Date Just? 41mm or 36mm. Small wrist 36mm, larger wrist 41mm it won’t stand out.

      Those men wore 36mm, because they had no other choice!
      36mm is now relegated to status of unisex. Even women are wearing 40mm and 41mm Rolex models. You'll have better luck finding 36mm, because they just are not in as much demand as the 41mm.
      The Grey market bears this out. The 36mm is just not as popular, and has less value retention as 40mm and 41mm rolex models.

    size is a matter of preference and wrist size.
    but the 36mm looks correct in proportions while to me, sorry to say it, the 41 looks like a cheap Chinese made copy of the datejust. proportions all wrong, bezel too thick/wide.

      I fully agree. I was set on the 41 because a) all my other watches are 42 and b) it’s actually 39,x so closer to 40. But something just felt off. And first I thought it was the lug to lug as the lugs are actually quite long, but on closer inspection it’s the proportions, mainly the bezel. 41 just feels like a different watch. If you like that more and can wear it: great. Personally I’ll go with the classic 36.

  • @gomw_84
    @gomw_84 Месяц назад +1

    I think that 41 is more balanced given that the thickness is the same. Also from the measurements the real number is 39,5 thus it wears smaller than 41. What matters most is the lug to lug on wearability rather than just the case size

    As a person who torn between 36mm and 40mm, i have concluded that it depends on what kinda brand and design language they approach. Rolex's design language has always been about sportiness and ruggedness that go along with elegance. So i think the datejust 41 make more sense. To put it in perspective, you can't expect a Seiko turtle to wear small and elegance on your wrist when it's make for ruggedness.

      @nkass8593 gladly.
      I feel the Datejust is a dress watch, particularly with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I like my dress watches to wear small like they are suppose to 36-38mm.
      39mm and up I consider sports watch territory. Also, imo the DJ being upsized to 41 just looks out of proportions. It loses its elegance and charm.
