- I'm back at Replay Guitar Exchange in Tampa, FL and today I'm plugging into the 5150 Iconic amp for the first time.
As you know, I already own the EVH 5150 EL34 50-watt head and 2x12 cabinet, so it was interesting to hear how the 5150 Iconic sounds (I may come back and do a comparison at some point if you guys want that).
Of course, you are going to hear plenty of metal tones from this amp (especially 80s metal and thrash metal guitar styles). And Cliff and I dive into the features of this amp and what makes it so cool.
***Check out Replay Guitar Exchange's website here (they offer free shipping in the US, and if you're in the Tampa, FL area, this is now your new guitar store):

***Replay Guitar Exchange also has a RUclips channel here:

***Also, be sure to check out (and subscribe to) Cliff's channel 'Riff with Cliff' - we just did a video together on this channel miking some cabinets for metal tones here:
• MESA VS ORANGE VS VINT...
What do you think about the 5150 Iconic amp? Does it sound good for metal? Leave me your comments below.

It's a wicked amp, holy chit. Do not hesitate.
It's such a great amp with massive gain! My friend Drew just picked one up and he played it live at my recent show here: ruclips.net/video/zlV9yX0ci84/видео.html
I own one, can safely say that i recommend it!
🤘🤘🤘
I put a v30 in mine and holy cow what it did to the tone. Ten band eq and 👌🏻
🤘🤘
I tried one at Guitar Center a few months ago, Good friggin' amp.
🤘
That’s awesome dude! Sounding great as always. I love this amp so much
This is a killer amp!!!
Thanks for the review brother. I have had my eye on this amp for a while now. Very nice.
It’s a nice one!
LOVE this amp! Sneakily versatile
It's a killer amp!
That amp sounds fantastic in your hands.
🙏🏻🤘
Just bought the 60 Watt 5150 Amp in Ivory. I can’t wait for it to arrive!
🤘
I tested one at GC yesterday - sounds great overdriven. It’s the overtones/harmonics on ch 2 that make this amp awesome.
Yeah it’s a great amp! No overdrive pedal needed either…this amp has plenty of gain!
On its own, I didn't like the speaker but I added a 10 band Sonicake EQ, now sounds wonderful!
🤘
What do you play? Thrash?
These amps are insane for the price no matter what high gain style. Awesome cleans too thanks for doing this video!! Rock on 🎸
🤘
Clean sounds lovely..all best from Australia 👍
🤘
Just picked mine up from Replay and looking forward to digging into it this weekend.
Dude I can’t wait to come over plug in!!! Soon 🤘
Great tones straight outta the Box!
🤘
Good review, guy's...... thanks.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏻🤘
Need a small combo for home but wanted one with 6L6’s like my beloved Laney GH100 head. This demo has me sold, it looks like a great versatile amp.
Man, I really enjoyed playing through this amp and like it as much as the EVH 5150 EL34 I own.
Check out the link the Replay Guitar Exchange in the description (they do free shipping in the US).
I bought this exact same amp in Ivory a little over a month ago and I really like it,it sounds good with my BC Rich legacy Bich as well as my Les Paul studio. I do play old school thrash hardcore stuff and I use metal distortion and overdrive pedals and can get a really good saturated tone on the clean channel,The dirty channel is pretty good on its own though. I did think the amp sounded a little brittle at first but as I’ve played it more and the speaker is breaking in it sounds a lot better. Overall this is a great amp and a lot of fun to play around with.
It's a great amp! My buddy bought on this year and played it with me a recent live show here: ruclips.net/video/zlV9yX0ci84/видео.html
@@jasonstallworth you guy’s sounded great Jason!
The amp is awesome. Your playing is amazing though!
🙏 🤘
I won't rest well, if Jason doesn't get a nice another guitar as a replacement of the one he sold(ESP) :D. And this Epi looks cool.
Yeah this guitar was growing on me!
Got one ready for the 25 th
🤘
Man thats a mean amp! I want it hahaha well 1300 here in canada but iam still going to get it! thanks to you as always! cheers jason
It’s a great amp!
Jason needs a Jackson RR.
🤘
Where is this shop? He sells the sickest amps
Tampa, FL
What song is he playing starting @2:06? Sounds super familiar.
I'm just making it up as I go unless it's something from one of my albums
That's scary... I'm actually searching for a new amp and I already considered this one. And now you are making a video about it 😮
My question: This one or a Marshall DSL40CR?
I'm one of your students btw. Keep it Metal 🤘
First, thank you for the support! Man, you really just have to play different amps. I liked this one a lot for a smaller combo amp. It's light and portable but with a big sound. I think you could shape it more with some pedals
@@jasonstallworth Thanks man! Once again I followed your advice and now I got the 5150 😁
It's awesome and gets even better with an Ibanez TS9
When I put it on channel 2 and turn the noise gate dial up, nothing seems to happen that I can tell. Does anyone have similar experiences?
I've only played through this a few times but my buddy just got one and will be making a video on that going over it more thoroughly from his experience soon
How does it compare To your EL 34 EVH. I like a 2 channel amp because of my octo switch pedal board switcher. But I wanted To get your opinion on how it compares to your EL 34
They're both really awesome amps and I don't know that one is particularly better than the other.
Trying to get that classic MOP tone do you think a DSL 40 would be better option than thr 5150 or vice versa
I don’t think one would be better than the other for that, but my friend played through this amp with me at a big show last weekend (amp was miked of course) and it sounded great!
How come you didn't show any of the settings you used?
They're nothing special. I always encourage folks to start up the middle and make adjustments until they find what sounds good to them
@@jasonstallworth right on, I just like to try other peoples settings and see how much of difference it sounds on my amp and guitar. 🤘
Is there a better combo amp at this price or cheaper ?
I have some cheaper amps in this video: ruclips.net/video/6VqR2T6OzUA/видео.html
Is this the 15w or 40w?
40w
I played this amp today. I’m not impressed.
As far as overall sound, I do prefer my EVH 5150 EL34
@@jasonstallworth I have the EVH EL34 50 watt, too. I've been thinking of picking up the iconic combo but haven't had the opportunity play it yet. What about the 5150 EL 34's overall sound do you prefer in comparison to the iconic?
