The freaking tones in the intro clip!!
Hi there!! What’s your gear to play this intro? Tks👍
Loved this. I'd like to know more about amp settings and why. What are some of budget amps that could be used to obtain useable or somewhat great tones? What would be some good settings for treble , mids, bass, reverb, gain etc.. Also information on something more affordable for guitarist who are starting to purchase effects. Also explain settings on effects and how and why they work and blend with over all playing or use. What would be a few great settings or use of a Line 6 Pod or amp?
Everything Tim has to say is such a valuable piece of advice. You don’t get much more “professional” as a guitar player than that.
Tim Pierce is a true treasure. His knowledge, enthusiasm and just the joy he has when talking about music, gear or technique is so contagious. He’s truly a guy who just loves what he does and loves bringing his knowledge to others so they can benefit from it.
Also his personality.
Complete opposite of rick beato.
Tim's like a kid in a candy store. I would be too if I had all the "toys" he has in his reach. 🙂
Thanks for having Tim on. Always a treat!
Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there.
Tim Pierce videos and interviews make being a pro look easy. His level of professionalism is astounding. Not just in playing his guitar but, in discussing the guitars, the pedals, the amps, the set up time and time again. He is the best. I watch every time, because there's always a new lesson, perspective or story to be shared. Keep up the killer work Robert and thanks Tim for sharing your love of guitar and music!
Tim Pierce is more than guitarist catering to musicians... He is the Secret Sauce!
Good description of a Guitar Hero, yea Tim‼️
Tim Pierce, Tim Pierce... I mean, the guy is one of THE MOST astounding & talented guitarists that so very few people even know about... he's an absolute guitar saint.
Great video. Thanks for having Tim in your channel. He’s such a wealth of talent and information.
On a side note, I find his nest-like playing pod to be equally fascinating. I would love to see how he gets in and out of that thing. I picture a system of pulleys and cabling. 🤓🎸👍
Thank you, Robert! The Buckovic video about the EQ pedal. I have the MXR 10 Band. Thanks to @TimPierceGuitar I now own my lifetime Boost the Custom Audio. It's heavy, but he tone is superior. I got it yesterday, Thanks to Tim Pierce and you, for putting this opportunity together! Lightspeed is my current first gain, always on. So, I won't be adding an ODR-1 nor ODR-10.
Thank you for bringing Tim in you two are tops in my book !
Tim is such a legend. I love how passionate he is about playing.
I have all of Robert’s courses he has helped me from a total beginner to not such a bad player. Miles to go but I’m getting there .
Great segment, love hearing from people like Tim who have been in the business for decades. Lots of knowledge there! Tim did bring up something I've been looking for, the amp switcher. Gotta get me one of those!
Tim is a real treasure and amazing player!!
Love Tim Pierce!!! Great episode and great discussion about gear. Visually (looking at his studio) he has everything, but all that is needed because of his job, but nice that he demonstrated "his" primary core sounds. For me, just reinforces (because I am guilty of buying in to the hype), to stop chasing all these tones and just work on playing and that you don't need all these fancy, latest, greatest gear.
The bridge of the Starship Pierce is always killer
Tim's delays are amazing. I wish I could dial them in like that
Awww that was so driving me nuts!! When Tim says here's my sound and pulled a few notes from a D chord and it sounded EXACTLY like the opening to REBEL REBEL by David Bowie!! Took me over 30 mins searching RUclips WHERE have I heard that !!! lol
Yep, heard that too. Just guitar and amp!
Pulsonic cones!
Tim's music cockpit always makes me laugh and I mean that in a good way. It's wild.
Love, Love, Love Tim Pierce ....a marvelous musician and lovely person! Thank You!
Love Tim.. nice guy and infinite wisdom...
i have had an EVH Musicman since 1996 & use it on every gig I play. I can vouch for it always staying in tune. I have on more than 1 occasion pulled it out of the case & started straight into a gig without checking the tuning & it has been spot on. Best guitar I have ever owned-and very versatile. Great video guys.
I have noticed over the years that if you get a pedal from a manufacturer and really love it you will normally like their designs. It makes sense. Maybe because they hear things similar to you. Boss tends to work for most. Keeley has always worked good for myself as well as Xotic effects. I never liked the JHS and Wampler stuff much, but then there are a few I do like that they make. However, there are a few brands that release a pedal, and I am pretty confident I am going to love it. Strymon is like this for me, but I remember purchasing the DIG delay just because, and that is the only Strymon I just could not like. Sometimes I think I need to revisit that pedal based on how much I like there other offerings. Thanks for the video Robert and Tim. 😀
This is me with EQD. I got into them for the weird stuff but ended up really vibing with their gain pedals. Now I sort of collect them. My justification is that they are great in the studio 😂
I picked up a used Fender FM100 Twin Reverb when I became the leader of a rock band I had started as a side-player with, and I regularly stop and enjoy how good and professional it sounds. I have a dozen different electric guitars and another dozen acoustics and acoustic-electrics that I gig with, and I have to make some EQ adjustments per each guitar, but I always love the sound. For effects I used a LINE6-PodXT-LIVE board until the main volume pot started crackling-up, now I have a more standard pedalboard (and a new-used PodXT-LIVE for my studio), but although I have a few other amps, none tickle my ear like my MR100 Twin. I've always wanted a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 Twin, but I haven't wanted it that $$$badly yet.
One of my favorite guitar players is Guthrie Trapp, and he said to get one good guitar you can bond with, not a bunch of gear you don't use. I'm getting rid of all my gear, keeping one or two that I like best. It IS a sickness!
Yeah, I saw that video. Good advice.
Sorry, I like the differences between a Jaguar and a Strat, a Tele and Les Paul, a Gretsch and Duo-Sonic, a Cyclone and an ES-339, a Squier VI and a Danelectro convertible … I have decent, inexpensive versions of each and love enjoying the differences. To each, his own!
@@jamesmcghee3440 While it's great to have the variety at your fingertips, and backups for when something breaks, you need a lot of space to store dozens of guitars, and string changes and cleaning gets to be a hassle.
@@JohnShalamskas and then you realize that you’ve gone *years* without picking up and playing some of these guitars you don’t think you can live without. I used to be guilty of that, but finally accepted that owning a dozen guitars while only using 3-4 of them 95%+ of the time was just wasting space. And no, I didn’t need to hang on to that 12 string for the once a decade I got in the mood to do something with it :)
Man, those riffs in the opening were tasty as hell.
My Boss GE7 has been a lifetime pedal for me. I've used it to give a mid boost to solos since the early 90's.
Man I’m glad you kept on the channel and put in some work man it’s really turning out great and the content has been amazing great job keep it up man!
This is great. I spend so much time time learning how to play this damn thing that I’ve forgotten to learn how to use it!
Awesome stuff. It's great seeing what other players are using and how they're using it.
Tim brings so much class to anyone's content.
Great video with Tim, Robert your videos are becoming my go to now, great job, your the future of the guitar!!!!
Fantastic pearls of wisdom. Thank you for this.
dude! That was awesome!
The MXR Micro Amp has been a lifetime pedal for me for about 10 years now. It's always on and pushes my Bassman beautifully.
Gotta love Tim. Incredible session guitarist. I also have his course.
You're knocking it out of the park with these videos!
Yeah! Share everyone's tips & favorites! That's cool! Tim taught me some tips easily done I didn't know about!
Always love tims perspective
Tim is a legend. I love watch his videos! And all that tips!
Tim is a treasure. Every time.
Amp Switchers: I have a KHE (maybe Robert recommended it a few years ago?) amp/cab switcher with an EFX loop, and love it. Works and sounds great. They are a Swiss company. Always fun to listen to Tim, both playing and demoing/talking about gear! Good video Robert!
Tim is the nicest most amazing player, great advice. 👍 Thanks Robert
Tim is just the nicest and one of the best guitarplayer in the industri .
I us3 my octave pedal before my volume pedal, because to me it sounds like it tracks better, but now I’m going to experiment again with the volume pedal placement
Tim is one of those guys that is such a force in music and a lot of people have never even heard his name. And thats a shame.
I have 2 volume pedals in my rig. One at the start that I use like the volume control of my guitar so I can get varying levels of clean to dirty. The other at the end that I use as a master volume.
I never thought about the master volume pedal as a noise gate. I use it most for volume swells and in spots where I stop playing for more than a few seconds, so maybe I did that without even realizing.
Some great tips Tim. Thanks for sharing Robert.
It’s hard not to like Tim! Free advice for all guitarists from a talented player. I wish I was 1/2 good!
Tremolo... Tim makes everything sound amazing!!
Most of the tone is in the fingers of the player never mind what gear he is using.
Tim is Amazingly Awesome
Tim mentioned Dan Huff...what a beast of a player
For me, there was life before and after the Boss NS-2.
Some of the most inspiring gear is not the main ingredient to the dish. Sometimes it's the seasoning that accentuate everything else.
Rob and Tim, love both you guys!
Super cool fellas. Enjoy your lessons, thoughts, reviews, tips, etc.
You two cats are some way awesome players!! Lots of chops but most important, you dudes are uber tasty players! 👍👍
One important component I wish you had asked Tim was what is his favorite and/or "go to" speaker, both in his cabs and that single 1 X 12 cab he mentioned?
-Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦😎
Very good stuff, Robert. Thank you!
Great info and examples of pedal types - really helps me understand how to use them. And because I have Zoom multi effect pedals, I have all these digital pedal types built-in.
Aloha and Mahalo Robert. Very informative.
I would love to know how Tim gets to his chair!
Lol, that’s what I was just thinking! And I never have before.🤷♂️ It looks like a pretty tight fit.
Tim is like a rare diamond that you find !!! (And so are you Robert !!!).
Amazing interview
Which Divided By 13 model is that, the RSA31?
Nice one Robert, Tim is a Legend ❤
Good series! Keep it going!
My inner Monk is freaking out about that number 2 key on Tim's keyboard.
The Boss RT-20 does a very nice rotary sound
Tim is the absolute best!
✌️😎🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Good tips…..even for a harmonica player!!
Tim is the man !
Delay makes you sound “produced”. In a good way. Like it’s on a record rather than the raw sound from the speaker.
Always fun to hear Tim's insights and pragmatic approach to music, guitar, and gear. Thanks
Is the ÷13 amp the RSA23?
Tim is gifted and could probably play everything with one guitar, but I look forward to seeing what guitar and amp he will be playing next.
You know my hero Tim? Dang 🎸
Love Tim.
Robert as Tim Does Please Refrain from using the word "LIKE". Just say WHAT you MEAN to begin with. Love your WORK !
What Model is the Divided by 13? Great Info! Thanks
We are in a great time for musicians of all levels. Whether you are a seasones studio pro like Tim, or an amateur like me, there is a piece of gear out there that will get you that sound. There are clones for everything at nearly all price points.
What I really enjoy when seeing what Tim uses for his tones, is a lot of the effects pedals are nothing special. There is a lot of stuff a hobbyist can pick up in his local music store and is not necessarily expensive. When he's using that pricy boutique thing, shop around and there is likely a less expensive clone of it.
Is Tim using the Divided by 13 RSA23 or the RSA31?
which speakers does tim prefer?
Does Time have an Ejection seat option in case of an Emergency?
Cartage? Cardage? What does that mean, I have one for home, one for the car, and one for “cartage”?
Cartage (I think that's the spelling) is the gear a company picks up and delivers to the studio for a musician. When the studio guys have tons of gear that they want to have access to in the studio, it could take them days to transport it by themself to a studio, so they hire a cartage company to move it from place to place. They also often rent and sell equipment. I only know from watching Tim's and other studio musicians videos, so if anyone can add or subtract from my statement please do.
@18:18 - Trevor Horn? I'd like to hear stories about working with him. What songs did Tim play on? Seal?
Tim continuously says that the drives are "in front of the volume pedal". I'm taking this to mean that the volume pedal is wired up in series after all of his overdrives.
Is this correct?
Yes. Because for the volume pedal to work as a noise gate it would have to come after the gain pedals creating the extraneous noise.
So good
I just want to know how Tim gets in there with his guitar, lol. Crawls under table... "Toss me the DGT babe!"
I wonder what speaker Tim uses in the prs 1 x 12 ?
"YEAH"@ 8:37
The first trick was like well duh for me, but Tim is amazing and very insightful and far better than I'll ever be on guitar.
What about the Marshal?
Interesting Tim didn't mention modelling with a Fractal sitting right beside him.
Me hearing about the noise reduction from a volume pedal "yeah I totally knew that *cough cough* yeah"
How many electrons is Tim being irradiated with in there? As much as a mars trip over or under?
Why not just use a noisegate pedal?
I've always loved players who make their guitars sing. There are way too many players who just concentrates on speed.
Does tim do zoom lessons do you know?
What IR loadbox you using man , I got suhr reactive load IR and its mehhh I dont know why it feedbacks à lot.
Maybe I set it up wrong with my Peavey 6534?
I mean, plugins sound better at this point , it's my first time using a load box , I was expecting more of it.
Tim Pearce has a mic'ed up cabinet in his basement or garage with an array of microphones.
I use a Torpedo Captor and only use DAW effects on a DI signal, preferring pedals before the amp
16:50
One thing I don’t understand, how do you enter your booth Tim! Levitation?🤣. Tables on wheels?
❤
