Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

Maybe 2 coats or a coat of gray primer then a top coat, primer is cheaper and a oil base primer would have soaked in better, water base will need recoating. Sherwin-Williams has commercial coatings and a lot of knowledge for next time

Hey there! Quick tip for the greenhouse! You can put mulch on your soil around your plants, like grass clippings. This keeps the moisture in and prevents it drying up! 😊

As allllways, you two are great together and create really fun videos. Nice job on the GARAGE!! 2 things I noticed that I think you should change or add. 1) You need a barrier between the fireplace and the wood wall. Block, brick, cement board spaced off the wood, SOMETHING, as we certainly don't want to have a fire.. 2) It looked like Jaz was simply pushing the wires into the backs of the power outlets. I know many do this, but over and over again I see videos about how people lose their homes to exactly that. EVERY REAL ELECTRICIAN will tell you to never use the push in's. ONLY use the screws as they create a tight and solid contact that won't fail.... I've owned and remodelled 5 homes and in every one of them, found outlets that previous homeowners swapped and did the press ins.. The first time, I found it because my wife heard buzzing coming from the wall.. Yeah, inside the box was black with sparks!!! PLEASE go back and utilize the screws. That way is FAR SUPERIOR to the extremely tiny contact point of the press in's... RUclips videos all over on this as well...
EDIT: I forgot to mention, painting the walls a bright color will make the shop WAYYY BETTER!! Over time, the bare plywood will turn to a dull yellow and look crappy. Paining it then will be FAR MORE WORK.... I'd paint it white. Just my .02 ;)

  • @sunniegal4109
    @sunniegal4109 Год назад +24

Awww, a lightup sign for "The Pack", love it.😊. I vote to clear varnish the plywood, both for longevity and to ward against staining or any edge wear and tear (not painted but sealed). SUCH an awesome makeover, so very cool and life-changing, yay you two! 🐾

After doing a few clean outs of homes where people had passed and were to be sold. I found what most people consider so precious, in the end... is just stuff..... Great Job on the work shed. Like that you have a fire extinguisher next to the wood burning stove. One thought. You might want to put some cement board in behind the Stove. It was depend on the distance required by the stove manufacturer on how far away you can not have none combustible surfaces.

Little tip, if your doing an area that includes a ceiling start from the ceiling and work down, so as not to damage anything you may have already done. I know you like the wood and whites a dull colour, but if you paint inside the shed it will help illuminate inside during winter. PS, awesome job as always

I’m loving the workshop so much!me and my wife have a workshop 38 x 14 feet and now it’s organised it has saved us sooo much time and effort.when you are doing a project you can move around the shop doing all the various stages so quickly.
The only thing I wood suggest is carcass timber you can just grab to make things and off cuts are so useful in the shop kept dry and flat .we have 12 foot long heavy duty shelves with all the timber stacked in sizes. Enjoy ladies above all else create and freestyle things.

You're freezer has to be on a dedicated circuit only for that and no extension cords plugged Into it. Being An Retired fireman, That can be a fire hazard. Your ladies always do a good job and stick to it until the things get done. You should be proud of that, Thank you for taking the time to share all that with us. A good example for all.

Ladies, if you want more organization with your small items ( ie. nails, screws ) get more of those blue bins. You can buy smaller or bigger blue bin , hang the bins on the wall then put your nails / screws in them. This will free up the cabinet space for other item that may need to be in it.

I have a Shed not very big but it’s looking like yours was. So you have given me ideas to change it to being tidy. My wife is in favour of my ideas as she been saying “You” need to tidy up. But what a difference you have made. I never paint wood walls/ceiling. Enjoy xxxx

A circular zen thought with this week's (another) outstanding video: *How WONDERFUL that the loving, humorous, inspirational, hard work that you apply, capture and share has infectiously grown your audience, tool collection and homestead - sensational synergy!* Much love to the pack! 💚🕉🫂✨️🕊

I like the remodel. I really do need a clean garage to get any work done. I recommend using Dock/Mount Holders for your batteries. You could even mont the holders under the shelf over the battery charger.

I love that you did plywood on the walls. I don't know why more people don't. Maybe the expense??? Anyway, besides the added insulation value, you will be able to easily hang anything on those walls without looking for studs!
The garage looks amazing! Your hard work paid off!

I love you guy and your energy. Incredible job on your garage / work shop. BRAVO !!!
If you ever decide to start a new business "The Pack Shop Organizers", let me know. I'd be happy to be the first paying client 💰. I built mine about 5 months ago, and it honestly looks worse than your before pics. I guess I need to finish up my current project and get seriously motivated. Seeing your completed results reminds me of why it takes me longer to get things done...I need to find everything first. Plus, I'm doing it all alone. Thanks for the motivation. Oh yeah, Loki says to tell Bella, I have a favorite squirrel that I watch too. You go girl 👍🏻
Have an awesome week, and Be Blessed. TJ & Loki 🐾

Awesome, fantastic job finishing the garage, sorting and organization of all your building tools and supplies, the freezer is a great idea, hope its big enough to hold all of your harvest. I think you should develop a shelf close to the freezer to store a selection of ingredients for your cooking seasonings, cans of beans and sauces, coffees, teas etcetera so you have backups of your needed supplies. And if you are making a trip to town it's a quick check to see if you are running out of stuff. There's nothing more frustrating than wanting to eat or drink something and you are out of it in the middle of the night or storm. You guys are fantastic ! Keep up the projects and the good work. You have a beautiful homestead and its all coming together. Are you looking into the future to build a big garage to house all of your vehicles and big machinery to keep them out of the weather and put away incase you decide to do some van camping or other extended traveling?

First off, great job on the garage. Diana and I are happy that you have a place where everything is organized. It does make other jobs easier.
We like the freezer for the crops you'll be growing. We were wondering if you had thought about a freeze-dryer for freeze drying your crops. Only asking because your food stuffs can last longer. You can cook complete meals than freeze dry them, take them out in the winter add water to reconstitute the meals, heat and eat. We were just curious if you had thought about this way to preserve your crops.

Right on, ladies! I regret not commenting on the plywood issue when I saw it….no tongue and groove?! Yikes! Well you found a fix for that glitch….so all is well. Are you considering building a racking system for your wood? Keep your precious planks from warping….maybe a rack on wheels so it can be moved out of the way or racks down from the ceiling or walls? If you look up, there’s still lotsa potential. Keep rocking it!!

Massive undertaking. Come do mine. Every bit as bad as yours was. Very well thought out. Two things I would add. First, a peg board. Some things like scissors, pruning tools are best suited/accessed hanging. Do you have a gardening section? Since you have plumbing and privacy you could added a shower. The freezer surprised me, thought you’d be canning.
