The opioid epidemic was never a "legal" prescription medication issue. It was a handful of over prescribing doctors (pill mills) and those doctors are not practicing medicine and many have long prison sentences; several pill mill pharmacists also are out of business and many are serving time in prison. Every pill mill was abruptly halted and stopped by 2017. So... how do you explain the illegal illicit street drug epidemic now? This has always been an illegal illicit drug problem. Overdose deaths have risen from 26,000 in 2017 to nearly 111,000 in 2023. Make that make sense?!? This epidemic is primarily the result of analogs of illicit dangerous fentanyl and other designer synthetic drugs concocted by clandestine chemists. Many overdose deaths prior to 2017 were due to mixing cocktails of legal medications with illegal illicit dangerous street drugs. Now nearly 98% of all overdose deaths are illicit illegal street drugs only. Who is to blame since 2017? When will drug addicts and clandestine chemists and illegal drug dealers be held accountable? This is no longer a legal medication "mixing" issue. Blaming the opioid epidemic on patients and medical professionals was convenient when there were lawyers set to profit off the backs of billion dollar corporations. Now there is no money to be made off street dealers so overdoses have skyrocketed and NO ONE is held accountable. The entire 2010-17 was a pseudo "epidemic" - Now there is a REAL epidemic and lawsuits against illicit illegal manufacturers are no where to be found. In the process hundreds of thousands of cancer patients and pain patients have suffered horrific horrifying pain and death due to scaring legal licensed practicing doctors, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies. My point is this... legal opioids are only intended to treat severe pain which causes one to suffer from a medically diagnosed progressive illness, disease, or cancer. Pain and cancer patients were NOT dying of overdoses because they take their medication(s) as prescribed knowing they need it everyday to control very debilitating severe pain. Pain and cancer patients are less than 1% of those who become addicted to drugs and begin to exhibit addict behaviors. It has always been the illegal use and distribution of illegal drugs that is the REAL cause of the "epidemic" circa 2008. Thank goodness my grandmother had opioid therapy for cancer and hospice care and she/we didn't have fight for her to recieve proper medical care. It is a shame what has been done to the medical community and patients. If anyone doesn't believe me that's fine however I pray that you nor any of your loved ones ever need long term opioid care because you will have to fight for your life to get it. This is the result of blaming the WRONG sector of people (medical professionals) for something that was never their fault all because there was billions of dollars attached.
As a Professor of Pharmacy Technology and working at a hospital pharmacy for 15 years it’s very likely someone working in the health industry supplied him with this drug not some drug dealer on the corner. Which would make sense for there to be an investigation. Do your average drug dealers on the streets mail you your drugs? Serious question because I know nothing about buying drugs off the streets.
No disrespect to MP, but, sadly, If it was a single mom, or a veteran with ptsd, this wouldn’t be investigated with charges being filed. It would have been ruled an unalive or accidental OD. Then it would be deemed not worth law enforcements time to investigate.
It’s amazing that they can track down his killer, but can’t on 2Pac, Prince, Biggie, Kim Porter, Ez-E, Pimp C, Takeoff, Moe 3, Heavy D. , Dolph and others.

This seems absurd to me. Unless these suspects actually tied up Perry and forced him to take drugs, then this still all Perry's fault. He had addiction issues for years. He did not have to take those drugs but chose to do so.
For people saying this guy's overdose is getting special attention where the average Joe doesn't, try searching for convictions of people who supplied the drugs to an overdose victim.
I legit thought he died like 5 years ago from this "accidental drug overdose" (i.e., he chose to take illegal street drugs decades ago and the consequences of his own actions finally caught up with him).
To remove the stigma of him dying of overdose. My goodness, the man bought his drug, took his drug then they are blaming someone else. What about all those dying of fentanyl who is being arrested. The drug admits have no name. What a society
This is like blaming the companies Glock or Hi-Point for the amount of shootings in Chicago. Or Toyota and Ford for anytime one of their customers gets into a wreck. Beyond stupid.

@@mystriddleryno but it’s still prescribed by a doctor and only made at compounding pharmacies
He was an adult. He made his choice
So basically if you sell drugs, don’t sell to a celebrity….
So another celebrity dies of a drug overdose? That news.
it is a norm in hollyweird 😂
Hmmm, people OD’ing on fent & H daily, but a celeb dies in its hot tub and now cops are concerned😂
Why the laughing emoji?
@@doracampos2088 cause cops are clowns

There are hundreds and thousands of Matthew Perry's in this world. Where are the arrestes for them and their families?
No disrespect to MP, but, sadly, If it was a single mom, or a veteran with ptsd, this wouldn’t be investigated with charges being filed. It would have been ruled an unalive or accidental OD. Then it would be deemed not worth law enforcements time to investigate.
Wow really? How many millions will be spent on this ?
You mean the Money they Claim spent and they then divide the total amongst the Investigators!
It’s amazing that they can track down his killer, but can’t on 2Pac, Prince, Biggie, Kim Porter, Ez-E, Pimp C, Takeoff, Moe 3, Heavy D. , Dolph and others.
Good point.
@@edelweiss2.076 good comment fellow human.
Anytime a celebrity dies prematurely I always assume it's due to drug or alcohol abuse.
Alcohol is already a drug
You're a damn genius! Amazing!
😏
Its a pretty safe bet.
Well really the thing was he was losing his popularity and he signed contracts to studios and books and other things that he is a product to be sold to fulfill contracts to further be source of income for these entities that have given him hand over fist money that he had no sign on the contract and you're dead. When you sign a contract with these people you must fulfill that contract at all costs no matter what who cares your mother died, contract is first The stock being in a cult. So the contract is not fulfilled is nothing is selling in the reruns of friends nothing everything is just not making the money it should have by Prince so what happens if they murder him and they have the memory of Matthew Perry Prince Michael Jackson whoever it might be and their popularity sores to buy 10 times that of which when they were alive and there's the money there's the money that they saw desperately crave for the root if money for all things the world will turn on a dime for if it were not for the love of money I think that this world would be a hell blood better but it's not it's greed it's decide the Mammon God itself seeks to destroy after a season of happiness drinking be merry categy is to come, we all have a price and he cashed that in when he signed at the beginning of his career, I tell you this he was given the ultimatum of how things are done that probably went in one ear and not the other just for then and there for the now he was just at stars in his eyes and greed in his ears and he getting the world and yet lost is very soul to that in which he worships so much that his life didn't mean nothing to him to get the money and fame or be careful what you wish for in this world and this slide especially at this time of history.
When will they go after Coca-Cola and Pepsi for all the deaths due to diabetes?

Got accountability??? Always the victim??? What bs
Somehow it's hard to believe someone held a gun to Matthew's head!
R.I.P. Matthew
So now you can abuse drugs and lock up the doctors 😂
The power of being a celebrity. One ODs... The feds are all over it. Someone else ODs... It's a barely a bump in the paper.
This seems absurd to me. Unless these suspects actually tied up Perry and forced him to take drugs, then this still all Perry's fault. He had addiction issues for years. He did not have to take those drugs but chose to do so.
Waste of tax payer dollars.
Does anyone in Hollyweird ever take responsibility? If his name was Matt Smith, no one would care
People who watch Doctor Who would probably be pretty upset
Well...Matt Smith is a British actor who was once Dr Who. So...they might...
@@pmk422 jinx!! 😂
He's dead, how much responsibility can he take? Now some drug dealers are now taking their responsibility. What is wrong with you people?
Lets arrest a dealer bc a junkie decided to nod in the hot tub and never got back up
They're both in the wrong
Yeah. That's how it works. 😂
It was a medical facility that administered his. That's why the arrest.
@ACE7O2 That's why you have free will. You gotta call the drug dealer to bring it to you
No matter what the Drug Dealer Is always commiting Felonies... You understand that right? That drug dealing is a Crime...
For people saying this guy's overdose is getting special attention where the average Joe doesn't, try searching for convictions of people who supplied the drugs to an overdose victim.
He took the drugs yet it is someone else's fault? Give me a break
So why blame the source when you need to hold the user accountable.
Let’s arrest someone because a famous person died. Dealer didn’t kill him. Addiction did.
Guess it helps to be a "star" 😂😂 Even though he knew what he was doing. All blame lays on him.
I mean he doesn’t benefit either way, he doesn’t even know
Lays the chip company?? Why?
@@rileystewart3170 His family does
I legit thought he died like 5 years ago from this "accidental drug overdose" (i.e., he chose to take illegal street drugs decades ago and the consequences of his own actions finally caught up with him).
Perry pushed the outer envelope of sarcasm. Science of sarcasm entry has his photo.
It was his choice to use drugs. Nobody to blame but himself.
Wow we no justice for my gram that was murdered even thou state knows who did it.
I hear that. I hope she does get justice. Or they do.
Same thing happened with my sister,so sorry for your loss ❤
So sorry 🙏
It's like you can't overdose and drown in a hot tub anymore.
I thought this was America.
So sad😢
My empathy and compassion goes out your his family& friends
To remove the stigma of him dying of overdose. My goodness, the man bought his drug, took his drug then they are blaming someone else. What about all those dying of fentanyl who is being arrested. The drug admits have no name. What a society
This is like blaming the companies Glock or Hi-Point for the amount of shootings in Chicago. Or Toyota and Ford for anytime one of their customers gets into a wreck. Beyond stupid.
I saw the footage it was a giant pill with legs and a top hat. Think a pharmaceutical Mr Peanut.
bruh hahah
The U.S Postal service???
I KNEW THE MAIL MAN WAS BEHIND IT!!! 😂
The dope man always rings twice. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Probably just investigating postal service to see where it came from. This makes me think, maybe he ordered this off the internet. Postman probably had no clue.
Why not arrests every drug dealer at this point and have them be held accountable too
They are only doing this because he was a celebrity. They don’t care when our friends and family members get hooked on drugs. :(
What about the over 100,000 America fentinal children & adults deaths...
So sad. If he had depression, or something else, WHY wasn't he getting it treated professionally?
Matthew had been in several treatment facilities over the years. Two weeks prior he claimed he was clean and sober determined to help others with addiction. Sad.
And about hundreds of teenagers dying from fentanyl?
Don’t see accountability for their deaths?
Only because this guy was “ famous “ and his stepfather is also famous they did all this work and very fast to solve everything.
American is done!
Darwinism.
Wow, people die of drug overdoses everyday. Why arent people searching for who gave them the stuff. weird.
So they must of dug up little Matthew Perry, and arrested him for killing himself. No one forced him to take anything , he’s a grown adult he did what he wanted. No one’s fault except for Maddie’s. He loved drugs . Complete travesty of justice !
Only rich people get justice.
It's not justice. It's police state bullshit.
LEO agencies have some explaining to do. He’s being treated differently and we all need to understand why. Stay on this guys. They don’t do this for regular people.

I’m never selling to a celebrity ever again
Dude killed himself because of his addiction that he never overcame.
So they leave bigger cases than this involving regular people like me unsolved, but since he’s a celebrity they’re keeping his case open? Honestly just let it rest, what good is an arrest going to do? Just gonna ruin more lives in the process.
Another distraction from real news.
And what’s the real news? Enlighten us please.
Really? He MADE a VOLUNTARY CHOICE! My ,my my how the rich and/or famous get treated differently.
They discriminate drug dealers rather than gun manufacturers/dealers when victims die
That’s messed up…. One million bucks Perry’s spirit is like “Please just let it go, don’t embarrass me.”
but mj whitney everyone else goes crimeless
Didn't they lock up MJ's Doctor?
Literally swimming and doing ketamine, wtf do you except.
Fairly confident he had a few drinks in him too. Alcohol+Ketamine+Water=Sketchy endeavor
People I. The comment thread, 99% have never used ketamine and don't know jack shit about it or it's effects. Swimming while doing reasonable doses of ketamine is stupid, even sitting in a hot tub. People just hear "drugs" and don't know their asses from their elbows.
Famous drug addict dies due to addiction has himself to blame bet they don’t look for the dealer every time a homeless junkie dies on the street
Drug addiction will kill you one way or another!!!
so why not hold distilleries, wineries and breweries accountable for the millions of alcohol related deaths. Legal, illegal at the end of the day, he took the stuff. When is it the individuals fault?
like countless other comments have said, no disrespect, but if matthew perry wasn’t famous, the law wouldn’t have cared and no one would be going to jail for this. the law should work for everyone.
