Suggestion: Make a closet in your 2nd bedroom and use it for a pantry. Your guests probably won't need a closet. It would make your kitchen organization easier. You should have a friends party where you ask as many people as possible to come for an afternoon to help organize your junk piles and lumber. Just ask for help. If you sorted all your lumber and all the stuff lying around, you'd be able to more easily build your wood shed and side the cabin. That's a LOT of work before winter. You may want to prioritize the building wood storage and build it closer to the cabin because you aren't always going to be able to haul wood. If you get sick, or injured, you aren't going to want to haul wood that far in the middle of winter even with a tractor. Put it close enough to the cabin that you could move it in an emergency/blizzard. Honestly, you should just forget the garden this year. At this point in the season, you don't really have enough time for those tomatoes to produce. If you want to focus on the garden at all, focus on building the soil for next year instead of trying to produce food this year. Your kale is going to be ok, just fertilize it. Get some GOOD compost (if you can source some rabbit poop somewhere there's nothing better) and use it like a mulch or work it into empty beds. Also, bury your food scraps in the beds and buy some worms and put them in each bed. By next year your plants will be much happier.

Thank you for the video! Our cupboards and cabinets look like that too, and finished woodwork always seems to take forever, it takes a backseat b/c it's not necessary and our minds think we have to do the essentials first. Our gutter and downspout need repair badly, and we are getting to it ASAP... you don't want that much puddling water by the foundation, esp when the rains and snow loads come, so fix that fascia. Great advice from @lindak3030 about the woodpile too!

Hey! Just a suggestion for your front yard: as someone who loves native plant landscaping, it might be easier to look into native pollinator plants/grasses that like wet spots. You could also create a natural pond for the water to flow down to in a place that's more convenient, and that way your tadpoles can continue to coexist! There are lots of native Canadian grasses and wildflowers that might not be as tidy as a lawn, but are a lot less work. After you've dealt with the drainage problem, a smaller lawn for Bella and Izzy to roll around on right by the cabin totally makes sense.
My other gardening tip (vegetable, this time!) is, in my experience, relying on commercial fertilizers can be a bit dodgy and also really expensive. It's great that you have that improved soil in there, but the fast release fertilizers can sometimes compromise the long-term growth and strength of plants. Usually, a good mix of compost and manure, combined with a solid mulch on top (you can look up a variety of mulches and find out what's best/most available for you) does the trick and provides a steadier, more long-term release of nutrients, without the fertilizer runoff. There are also other great ways to amend your soil naturally: for instance, using kelp or comfrey. The only downside is they smell really bad, but plants love it

Comfrey is a fantastic fertiliser for plants, I don’t like the liquid feed smell so I just chop and drop directly onto the beds in autumn so it has the winter to break down into the soil and feed it, no need for a bad smell 😊 and the bonus is the bees absolutely LOVE it!

I have so many unfinished projects in my house, but the difference is I'm doing everything myself dealing with the aftermath of parental hoarding and a house which was not maintained AT ALL by previous owners. I'm on a tight deadline to empty it and get the bathroom fixed before workers come in to add soundproofing (new neighbours VERY LOUD) and have been feeling like SUCH a failure in my home and garden. As a suggestion to stop condensation you basically have three ways. The basic problem is your equipment surface temperature is blow the dewpoint of the air in the room. So 1) you can use a dehumidifier which removes moisture which is the same as lowering the ambient dewpoint to blow that of the surface temperature. This costs money to buy the unit and cost some power to run from now until forever.. 2) add drain pans which collects the water and drains it to the outside. This does not solve the root cause of the problem but does manage it in a way that is often "good enough". 3) Insulate every cold surface, preferably with a vapour barrier. This prevents the outside of the insulation temperature falling below the ambient dewpoint and stops the condensation forming in the first place. This is my preferred method as it takes zero energy to run the solution and stops steel parts going rusty. The downside is depending on how much fiddly stuff you have to insulate can make this more work than you want to so.

Jasmine.............If I, practical plodding Taurean that I am, came to live with you for three months, I would. 1 buy enough tarpaulines to cover all outdoor perishables. 2 tidy neatly everything outside. 3 tidy neatly everything inside. Let the two of you sort the garden. 4 sit down with you and make lists. The first list would be of all the jobs that are of vital importance ( your cabin exterior cladding, guttering and pipework insulation , plus trim on all your windows) etc. The second list would deal with external storage for cut timber and logs. Then I would look at servicing, maintenance and storage shed for small motor vehicles ie tractor. Then there is the damp issue indoors (do you need professional guidance regarding managing the condensation issues on your internal water tanks?) I’d let everything cosmetic wait and everything that’s indulgent wait and With so much important vital work outstanding, how do you have time to tend to vegetable growing? That’s intense at this time of year! This video pretty much illustrates that you are overloaded and need to narrow your focus and establish consistent stable working and living routines. Rome was not built in a day girls!❤

A helpful hint from a carpenter. Those wood piles. If you stack them neatly. In size order. Lengths. Widths.. the wood will be handy. Straight. Easier to Access. Keep the stacks off the ground by laying down a 2×4. Or 4×4's .. one under each end of each stack. But you can stack four stacks on two 8' boards. With only a foot or 18" in between the stacks. Heck. If you screw a upright into the bottom cross wood plank. To help the stacks stay up and strong

For the first time in my life I found my place extremely unorganized and yes piles of clothes not put away all pretty, wood not piled in proper places and so much more, what happened was my lack of energy. The past 3 months I've done landscaping at two different locations, deck building, tree pruning and so much more, so I can understand the state of your spaces there is only so much we can do. After the work days you both put in all that other stuff isn't important. One day that's all you will have to do keep it functional and beautiful. The day will come.
I am a person with OCD, anxiety it hasn't been easy to accept that I can't have it all perfect, so on the slower days I tackle one chore.

I love that you are so open. Also incredibly impressed with what you have been able to accomplish in such a short time. Proud of you!!!! II really enjoy your videos. Gives me the incentive to do more around my messy place! To rid your garden of aphids use a concoction of 1 quart of water, 1-2 tsp liquid soap, and 20-30 drops of peppermint oil. The oil is a natural repellent. Spray on the infestation. This is natural and won't poison you! You could also buy some ladybugs. They eat aphids, but not sure if they could survive your winter. Ask at the gardening store. Now you probably have found lots of ants too. They actually farm aphids, so you need to get rid of the ants too, or they will just bring more aphids... 2 parts Borax, 2 parts sugar, and 1-2 parts water. Mix into a paste and portion into old bottle caps (or make little trays of aluminum foil) and scatter around the ant trails. This will get rid of them in a few days.

Hey ladies. LOVE the tour, great idea and hoping you will do a late-fall recap. To answer your questions: yes, you are extremely ambitious. If you had regular day jobs where would be no-way you could get all that done. Fortunately your days can be dedicated to all this work as you are keeping The Pack engaged and entertained. I think you will need to reassess your priorities in early September though. Get the yard sloped and landscaped, and some grass growing before the snow comes. Get the wood shed done. If there is a task you could defer to next year, I think it is the siding. My opinion anyway. House interior is winter projects, and you will be SO happy you have the workshop so you don’t have to mess up your living space. Keep up the great work, yer amazing. Luv Yuz!

Hi Jaz & Crystal, I hope you're doing great - I'm sure you are. We had purchased a a smallholding (small farm) in Scotland, and we did very similar work to yourselves - not half as much though, as we only laid a few pipes compared to your dozens, and no new roof or windows. I think you're doing a fantastic job. During all our renovations, there was a farmer who shared the boundary with us. There were a number of farmers around us, all in cahoots with each other, so anytime we asked one to cut our 5.5 acres grass, they would make about 40 large circular bales of hay, give us no money back and then without authorisation or prior knowledge, they continued to put plough lines around our field perimeter, when we were trying so hard to make it level amenity land. This was because the neighbouring farmers' fields flooded with rain water, so they tried to use our field as the rain catch-all for all the water.
We got harassed to no end, as we were two females living rural beside three of these farmers, all pig-sick because ourselves (as two gay women) had turned our land and overall property around to make it beautiful from something that looked like it had been left to rot for decades. We had no back-up and nobody to support us. We sold up and moved out, and we lost a 6-figure additional profit if we had retained the property just two more years. A lot of exceedingly hard back-breaking work down the drain. I think you're both extremely fortunate that you don't have bullying male neighbours, both verbally and physically abusive male to contend with. All reported to the Police to no end and absolutely nothing done to stop it at the time. Once we sold up and moved out, then the Police invited us to court. - Absolutely pointless and seemed more designed to protect the new owners, who were a male and female couple. Enjoy your time at your property having a blast. I sure wish we could have been neighbour free.
Please give Bella Bear and Izzy a massive bear hug. Love from Scotland, ❤❤❤❤ xxxx

This video makes me so happy, lol. I have sooooo much left to build and do on my cabin I don't feel so bad now. I think
it's an ongoing work in progress weather permitting. I literally broke my back in two places, along with a head injury, collapsed right lung, broken ribs both sides and right shoulder complete a/c separation. I'm 65. I'm beat up.. I hit the ground with the force of a ton when my mares bolted and slipped in our gravel driveway ending in a Care-flite for me at age 57 broken to sch*tt. But. IM alive I know who I am and I'm building my own tiny cabin. Yeah, baby!!!

The interior can be done on wet days. You have already done so much to your cabin and the outside area. it has changed dramatically since you first moved in and I am very pleased for you. I have become a loyal member of the Pack and am even watching the podcasts. Your energy, drive and humor make each video a unique pleasure. I am astounded at what you have been able to accomplish thru the van build and most especially the cabin. You have inspired me to focus and work on the projects I have been neglecting. what you have is it cumulation of leftovers from a wonderful year of very hard work.
I think sometimes the picking up and cleaning up is the hardest part of all when you finish a wonderful project.
don’t beat yourself up, this is just a residual mess after intensively hard work.
now that you’ve dedicated yourself to it I’m sure you set yourself a schedule and you can get it done. But that it will all disappear.
well done, and I’m sure this video has motivated you as much as it has all of us.

100% feel EVERYTHING in this video! We are having a house built in the North Ga Mountains (USA) and clearing out our existing house is the equivalent of what y'all have going on, but in reverse. Piles of things to keep, donate, get rid of, and materials to fix existing issues before it's sold. It's totally a thing 😂.
Also to get rid of your aphid issue, Take an empty spray bottle, put water in it with a few drops of dish soap and spritz it on the plants that are covered in these little pests. They lick the soap off of themselves, and it makes them sick. Then they die. Yes, 100% safe for humans (just wash veggies as normal) Keep up the amazing work! Baby steps! Don't bite off more than you can chew!

It's almost August so it's time to start thinking about your fire wood for this winter. I posted this tip in an earlier video that you want to save the pieces from branches and other "rounds" (4" to 6" plus or minus in diameter depending on the size of your stove) for your night time stoking. Because they are "whole" they put out more BTU's and burn longer than "split" wood of the same size.
You probably know this but some of your viewers may not. You want to use the wood you have had the longest first. Any wood that is or starting to rot you can do one of two things with. 1. Chop the rotting bits off and use it to fortify your garden beds and 2. Use the entire piece to fill the bottom of your raised garden beds. Rotting wood already has the bacteria and bugs feeding on the wood breaking it down and tuning it into a nutrient rich soil and because it's already decomposing it creates heat keeping your beds warmer so the wood keeps breaking down into the colder months.
The added benefit of using rotting wood is that it doesn't pull nitrogen from the soil to start the decomposition process. The decomposition process takes a lot of nitrogen to get it going so your soil will become nitrogen deficient until the process gets going and puts all that nitrogen back into your soil. Low or nitrogen deficient soil will slow your plants development and will reduce the size and amount they produce.

I’m impressed that you guys have $3000 worth of OneWheels just sitting outside in the elements on your front porch. My favorite thing is seeing how almost ALL former “Van Lifer’s” accumulate so much “STUFF” in such a short period of time. For example, Eamon & Bec, Trent & Allie, The Nomadic Movement, Vanwives, and etc. You guys have literally accumulated more “things” in just a couple of years than most of us accumulate in 30 or more years! I own 15 rental properties and do most of the work myself, yet I still don’t have as much “stuff” as you guys. “Van Lifers” lead you to believe that they want to live a simple life without all the things that everyone in society finds valuable. In reality, “Van Lifers” are just broke young people trying to get “all the things” without working a traditional job. You guys truly have done a great job of building your RUclips channel so that you’re making LOTS of money, but it’s clear that you’re making so much money that you’re literally throwing some of that money in the garbage! So much for living that “minimalist” lifestyle.😆

DESIGN IDEA: Tiny homes always need more storage space, yet without closing in the space, keeping it airy. But I could see a spot for a pantry storage cabinet against the open wall next to / in front of the refrigerator. You can put it on a rail, make it like a barn door, so when you want to open the fridge, it just rolls across the guest bedroom and doubles as a door, yet it’s contents remains accessible to and in the kitchen.
This video makes me really feel the weight of your workload, all that you’ve accomplished, and all that remains to do. What you’ve done there is spectacular and I know there’s more to come. You’re both stellar. Love you. Stay safe. 🐻
BTW, there are a lot of natural Aphid repellents, like spraying your plants, the ones they go after, with Rosemary oil or mint oils. Leave one plant alone so they can have it, but keep that plant away from your others.

You have both done an incredible job with the property, and I can confirm I often have chips (fries) in that stupidly annoying part of the oven door that’s super hard to clean 😂
I love to garden & one suggestion I have if you don’t mind would be because of your climate your warmth loving plants like tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers are going to do way better in your greenhouse than outdoors & I would focus on using your outdoor beds for cooler loving plants like lettuce, coriander (cilantro), brassicas, onions, potatoes etc, and also your summer squash should do well out there too. Hope this helps 😊 if you can get some comfrey in the ground you will have free plant food forever and the bees love it & try and attract aphid eating predators into your greenhouse, like ladybugs and hover flies plus you can get some types of parasitic wasps delivered in some places to put in greenhouses that lay their eggs in them to help get rid of them 💚🌱

Good luck with all your projects, and if you start outdoors with the wood pile, the firewood shed and your trash - you might just get finished it time with your outdoor work before winter - even though I doubt it- There really is a lot to do outside... the closet with the pump n water heater . see if you can find a shower base with a drain that fits under there drain the water out under the cabin. the aphids you can get rid of by putting a small amount of liquid soap in a spray bottle of water and spray the plants. doesant hurt the plants but keeps a lot of pests off. check the tomatoes for bugs slugs or snails the soap mix helps with those to. and tomatoes need support so stake them up n tie them to the stakes, put your firewood on pallets in an open sided shed so you can grab a pallet at a time with the tractor they sell a mesh bag just for balletizing firewood so keep your pallets lol 6 cords gonna take a boatload of them. your outdoor kitchen? all i can advise is make sure it gets shade and is close to where your eating. just suggestions love you girls proud of you mike
