Very profound message at 24:03 if anybody is wondering: "It is unwise to spend too much but even worse to spend to little. If you spend too much you lose some money and that is all. If you, however, spend to little you sometimes lose everything, because the aquired item is unable to serve its intended purpose. The laws of economics forbid to acquire a high value whilst spending little money. If you choose the cheapest option you have to add the risks you are taking onto the price. This hits a little close to home since we germans really do value good quality tools, so it makes sense the gentleman who built these structures would agree.
That washing machine looks exactly like the one we had when we lived up north. It doesn't dry the clothes. You wash on one side and transfer the clothes to the other side to spin them out. Then we dried them on a clothes line. What a shame that such a beautiful place and so much effort and hard work has gone into it and now will just rot away.
I would say that this is RUclips at its best but this film is more than that - Justin, you are humanity at its best. This channel captures everything we're put on this planet for: exploring, creating, befriending, inviting. You are such an inspiration and life-giver to all of us who are doing our own best thing right where we are: building homes, raising kids, working office jobs, making things happen in our own local communities. But our souls are out there with you, chasing the next horizon. Thank you for capturing everything and bringing us along for the ride.
Twin tub washing machine is what you found. Very common in Australia in the mid 1900s. One side does the wash then you move the clothes to the other tub to perform the spin cycle. Great videos btw, we've been following for a couple years now!
The Chilcotin is very familiar country to me. My family traveled to B.C. every year for at least two weeks. I was born in October of 1950 and my first trip to B.C. was July 1st, 1951. Ive probably seen more of B.C. from sitting on a bale of hay in the back of an old 1952 Ford F-1 pickup than most Canadians ever have. We bought 50 acres at Riske Creek in 1968 and I my first log home in July of 1969 when I was 19. I've been designing and building handcrafted log homes for over 50 years and it all started right there in the Chilcotin. Great memories. Now that I'm living in Central Sweden I may never get back there. The memories will stay with me for many more years. Thanks for showing us this on video. Good Stuff!

The washer is a spin washer. You wash on the left side with the agitator and rinse with the right side, then spin out the excess water. They use little water and work great. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I enjoy them very much.
Perhaps others have already translated, but the German quote on the wall is from John Ruskin: "It is unwise to pay too much, but it is even worse to pay too little. If you pay too much you will lose some money, that's all. On the other hand, if you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the item you bought cannot do its intended job. The law of economics prohibits getting a lot of value for little money: if you accept the lowest offer, you have to add something for the risk you take. And if you do that, you'll have enough money to pay for something better."
A beautiful property. My theory is one owner and friends and builders residing on property, until the owner got sick or passed away, leaving the others no choice but to vacate. Sad to see such neglect of a great property. P.S. It's great to see you leaving everything better than you found it by securing the doors from critter access and mother nature. Thank you for sharing.
Another great video Dustin! The mountain intro was spectacular. I translated the german poster hanging on the wall and this is the translation: It is unwise to pay too much, but it is even worse to pay too little. If you overpay, you lose some money, that's all. On the other hand, if you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the item you bought cannot perform its intended task. The law of economics forbids getting a lot of value for little money. If you accept the lowest bidder, you must add something for the risk you run. The universe has a funny way of making sure you end up in the right place at the right time. As always, thank you for taking us along on another beautiful adventure :)

You KNOW it's truly out in the middle of nowhere-squared when the structure is obviously a decade old ( or older ) , the doors are open and unlocked and yet ZERO vandalizm , broken windows , graffiti or theft...REEEALLY cool to see it exactly as it was left...plus some weathering. It makes me ultra curious to know what happened for it to be left abandoned since it's so well made and has all the creature comforts a person could want while still being out in the wild...my mind can't help but to need some kind of explanation but that doesn't always work out...thanks for sharing this one.

@StephenShawCanada they should sell it then, so someone else can, if anyone was willing. But if nothing happens with it, Mother Nature will take it back.
Amazing video. Born and raised in BC and living in the Cariboo I am always intrigued by the history and love seeing old homesteads still standing. These buildings were in great shape. People commenting on how the family could let this place rot away , it is probably because being back in Germany they have no idea what this man built , never traveling to see it and to them it was just a pipe dream of the family member. I thought your other video a few weeks ago exploring that old mine site and air strip was the best, now this tops that one, at least to me. Thanks to you we can all appreciate things none of us will ever see and off the beaten path, thanks again Dustin . 👍👍
Yes nice video but I am not sure about the pipe dream idea. Descendants who inherit usually want to get the property to use it or sell it to get money from it. Just to let a property sit without using it could be because the descendants don't have the energy/health to deal with it or maybe it was not mentioned in the will? Or if the descendants are very wealthy themselves so they can't be bothered to deal with a small cabin. Or the property had to be vacated by law (for it being to big e.g.) as someone mentioned in the comments for example. I think we can just guess but reality could be different from what we guess ;)
@@mradventurer8104 Well not many people would even consider to venture 8000 kms to see a remote property across the planet. Wow, loved that cabin! Hope the family who owns it might renew their interest in it after seeing it in this video. Such love had to have gone into the build.
Love the respect you have for other peoples property and that you do what you can to help preserve it. Yet another fantastic video, thanks for the tour and I didn't get a single mozzie or black fly bite!
Another gorgeous adventure, mountains are my go to. Drone footage was awesome, I wish I could get mine not so shakey, but I am using a $150 one. Thank you Dustin for sharing another awesome day! This is becoming my Saturday morning tradition with a cup of coffee.
What a stunning property, I would buy it in a heartbeat! I've always dreamed of a place like this, remote, off grid, surrounded by wilderness. Thanks for taking the trip to show it to us. :D

Roll 70s make-out music!! 😂😂😂 What a really cool find way out there in the wilderness!!!! I think something like that wld be perfect for roots like yours....when they are ready of course! Sitting back in my recliner watching you climb to the summit. Looking at the fantastic drone shots. By the time you reached the top, my legs were so tired I was barely able to watch you get on your bike and ride down. I’m not sure how many more of these tiring expeditions my body can handle. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to grab a cup of coffee.
Thanks for taking us along once more to see places we might otherwise not. Once more the drone footage is breath taking. Indeed there's so much to see in this province where we live. Safe travels until next time.

Truly enjoy your taking us along on your adventures. Never lose your sense of wanting to explore! The area in the first cabin’s yard that had rails could have been a sawmill. They sure needed a way to cut all of the trees for lumber. Love your work! Please be safe………watch out for critters!!🤗
Thank you Dustin. Your photography is just remarkable. Loving your new adventures. It's so nice to see different areas of BC. I wonder if the German gentleman lived in the smaller cabin while he was building the larger unfinished one?? Such a lovely property. Blessings and safe journeys.
Great explore Dustin. What an amazing find. Pretty incredible that they are still standing with the harsh weather. Just goes to show the craftsmanship.
Dustin that was so cool 😃 What a magnificent real family living life to the fullest together in harmony ,the way life is meant to be ! 🌲 What a blessing and inspiration that i could go on and on enjoying and learning from that is so exciting and peaceful ❤ Another great show definitely so worth waiting for all week ! Thank you Dustin for all the gifts of what you do and share ! Aloha 🦌 🐻 🍁 🇨🇦
Decided to look up that refrigerator, seems like they were only made between 1927-1956. Saw one on a Facebook group that is from 1948 and it looks identical to the one in your video(except just a different colour). That is a vintage fridge! Pretty neat.
As always, that scenery is absolutely breathtaking! Imagine being so high you can actually almost touch the clouds! It's so sad to see those awesome cabins deteriorating like that. Seeing what 24 years of abandonment can do is just sad. 😢 But it sure makes for a quiet, secluded and pretty spot.
Absolutely loved this video. Since I no longer can hike nor just go looking for adventure on foot or bike, due to arthritis, you have helped me continue looking at great places and spaces. Thanks!
Great video Dustin! The scenery is so beautiful! Love your filming, editing and music! Smart move on not giving away the location of those log cabins! That was humbling, sad that it is falling in despair! Thank you for taking us along!
That is a washing machine! I had a Hoover one like it when I got married in 1977. One side you put the water in and the other side spun the water out. It doesn't hold a lot of items so a sheet set may have been in two washes. Mine would connect to the kitchen 😅 using that water! Good times! I was always wanting a cabin in the woods so kept it for a long time! Now, I sort of have one here in Montana. My husband is fixing up a small house. A retirement project! I have a normal machine here!
Guest cabin would do the missus and myself, traveled acros Canada and BC in 88 after the harvest run, to this day i will never get over the scenery or the collour of the lakes there, look after it Canadians its something very special 🇬🇧👍🇨🇦
Knocked it outta the park with the hike footage, awesome. Just think of all the yet to be found old abandoned places like this German guy's place, has to be many more.
Extraordinary and breathtaking! The mountain views were incredible and the isolation was extremely peaceful. Well done again, you have an amazing ability to take us along on the journey and allow us to gain a sense of what you are doing.
Amazing rugged but beautiful landscape Dustin, once again you didn’t disappoint and as usual you know how to entertain, use and share the beauty of nature !
Once again a great video.Wise not to disclose the location as it would inevitably then attract the vandals. Sad that so many places are so abandoned, as at the very least many of these places would make great holiday homes.
Brother respect to you I love how respectful you are of the cabins especially to not disclose its location if only others would do the same it’s sad enough to see these places that have had so much work to fall apart but even worse when vandals destroy them
I know you said the new rig would let you go to more places than ever, but it's amazing to see how far off the beaten path you really are getting this time! And you can tell you're loving every minute of it! And we as your viewers reap all the benefits from these amazing videos you share!
As always, this was a terrific and beautiful cinematic adventure. I like that you don't disclose the locations for many of your adventures, so that they stay undamaged by humans. Nature, and it's critters, will do their things, but humans won't deface them as nature is reclaiming them. Thanks for the fun!
Bless you. I was raised on adventure within the confines of my Michigan family. We on occasion would visit "The Homestead" surrounded by corporate woods for miles and miles. There was the original buildings wasting away, but then a pristine cabin down by the stream (modern if you consider magazines from the the 1960's in it.) Mosquito tornadoes of ten thousand roamed the area, but if you were tolerant or had netting or ran fast you could escape them, lol.
Every Geocacher knowing immediately exactly what they were looking at & screaming at you to open it 😅 Another excellent adventure!

When you Showed that cut cable on that Device on the ridge, The Tech in Me was thinking, " Wonder what the look on the faces of the monitoring station would look like if he put all the wires back together and it worked....." LOL
"Hey John, you know that system that was destroyed in that storm 5 years ago?"
"The one on XXXX Ridge?"
"Ya"
"What About it?"
"It's Broadcasting again........"
"WTF??????"
Hahahahahab. Man I loved this comment. This was a good laugh, thank you. I have no idea how weather is measured, but I can just picture the moment you describe. Hahaha
This channel should have three million subscribers Dustin is a master story teller and a professional editor I always watch his videos b.c. on my list it's beautiful
Wow, loved that cabin! Hope the family who owns it might renew their interest in it after seeing it in this video. Such love had to have gone into the build.
I can’t believe you only have 214k subscribers, it’s by far one of the best adventure YouTub channels
Love the respect you have for other peoples property and that you do what you can to help preserve it. Yet another fantastic video, thanks for the tour and I didn't get a single mozzie or black fly bite!
Every day is an adventure. Wherever you may be.
I was married to a german. They love American cowboys and horses. They are handy at building and are perfectionists.
Are you sure? My best friend is German and he's absolutely -REDACTED-
Now that we’ve seen Lot 32, this old house doesn’t look too bad, lol.
Another gorgeous adventure, mountains are my go to. Drone footage was awesome, I wish I could get mine not so shakey, but I am using a $150 one. Thank you Dustin for sharing another awesome day! This is becoming my Saturday morning tradition with a cup of coffee.
I think I would cry if I stumbled upon that lake and didn't have a fishing pole with me...
What a stunning property, I would buy it in a heartbeat! I've always dreamed of a place like this, remote, off grid, surrounded by wilderness. Thanks for taking the trip to show it to us. :D
BahahahA!!!! Smooth room??! All I can picture is some big ol' bear rolling in with some 8 track tape and scotch in one hand...er...paw and his special lady friend on the other! Roll 70s make-out music!! 😂😂😂
What a really cool find way out there in the wilderness!!!! I think something like that wld be perfect for roots like yours....when they are ready of course! Thank you for sharing!!
Beautiful views from the peak of that mountain, it looked like it was a dead volcano too. Thanks Dustin. Be safe out there!
You sir are the best of all UTube
Videos. You are truely an adventurer. I am in awe of you . Thank you. And then to find these cabins. Wow.😊❤😘🕊
Thank you so much
Sitting back in my recliner watching you climb to the summit. Looking at the fantastic drone shots. By the time you reached the top, my legs were so tired I was barely able to watch you get on your bike and ride down. I’m not sure how many more of these tiring expeditions my body can handle. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to grab a cup of coffee.
your comment made me smile….thank you!✌🏼
Just drove past you on McKenzie. A near brush with someone famous! Keep up the enjoyable videos!
Dustin you are an amazing film maker. We can feel your heart and soul in every video. The soundtracks, narration and stunning visuals - perfection!
Thank you so much.
That was amazing what a quality build cabin. Too bad that first one was barred shut. Way she goes.
Thanks for taking us along once more to see places we might otherwise not. Once more the drone footage is breath taking. Indeed there's so much to see in this province where we live. Safe travels until next time.
Amazing content.
Polished, authentic, entertaining.
So much hard work.
Well done.
That was an amazing adventure! Thanks for taking us along. 😊

I never get tired of saying this: your footage and editing skills are one of the best on YT, Dustin!! 😍
Such a shame that cabin is just sitting there, would be a lovely home!
Thank you so much :)
@@Destination_Adventure 👍
All these videos are so important simply to document if nothing else but the joy & entertainment is invaluable.
Thank you Dustin, such beautiful scenery and I love the little discoveries along your travels, as usual stay safe and stay adventurous.
That was a very cool music video with a little bit of exploring.
Between you and Foresty Forest we're getting some pretty spectacular BC summit views lately! Always enjoy. Thanks so very much!
I hear that he does some awesome alpine trips. I finally own a starlink, so I’m putting it in the list to check out. Stoked :)
You should watch the channel The story till now , some fantastic summits and views.
Ok, grandma and prior climber myself - get some GOOD boots w/ankle support. I love Merrell's and I'll bet they would even sponsor you. I know you're young and strong, but a sprained ankle would be a beast!! LOVE your vids, music, and perfect amount of commentary!! Best wishes, LGIT - LIB grandma in Texas❤😊
I moved to the Pacific Northwest from Oklahoma for views like what you're getting! I appreciate these videos because I don't get out and explore as much as I would like to these days due to my job. Hope you're enjoying your adventures as much as we are!
The Pacific Northwest hope you like the policies and politics of these shit hole states.
Thankyou for not disclosing locations . Great idea . Be safe out there . H&M from Chilliwack
What a spectacular view from the mountain. Thank you again for this wonderful adventure ❤
How sad such a beautiful place just left to rot....😢
Thanks for showing it.
Thank you Dustin. Your photography is just remarkable. Loving your new adventures. It's so nice to see different areas of BC. I wonder if the German gentleman lived in the smaller cabin while he was building the larger unfinished one?? Such a lovely property. Blessings and safe journeys.
You are in shape🎉That bicycle ride was something😊
Great explore Dustin. What an amazing find. Pretty incredible that they are still standing with the harsh weather. Just goes to show the craftsmanship.
Thanks Dustin,
So sad to see all that work going to waste. Thanks for taking us along.
Dustin that was so cool 😃
What a magnificent real family living life to the fullest together in harmony ,the way life is meant to be !
BC looks so beautiful and rugged, love these travels!
This editing is beyond good. How many transitions between camera to drone to ______. Crazy good. Bravo. Jay
Absolutely loved this video. Since I no longer can hike nor just go looking for adventure on foot or bike, due to arthritis, you have helped me continue looking at great places and spaces. Thanks!
thank you for showing us those stunning sceneries.
Your skill with a drone is amazing. Keep growing and exploring.
another home run Dustin, your content never fails to amaze me, and your choice for audio is spot on
What a crazy beautiful house
Un-freekin-real 😮😮
Wow...just WOW!!
Extraordinary and breathtaking! The mountain views were incredible and the isolation was extremely peaceful. Well done again, you have an amazing ability to take us along on the journey and allow us to gain a sense of what you are doing.
Late to viewing this. INCREDIBLE!!!
Amazing rugged but beautiful landscape Dustin, once again you didn’t disappoint and as usual you know how to entertain, use and share the beauty of nature !
Love your videos I was born in Welland Ontario in 1950 We moved to California in 1957 and don't know much about Canada especially the country
Once again a great video.Wise not to disclose the location as it would inevitably then attract the vandals. Sad that so many places are so abandoned, as at the very least many of these places would make great holiday homes.
Wow. The View 😮. That 2nd cabin. Is beautiful
The 3rd. Is stunning! A shame. . It won’t be sold. And you’re right it’ll probably wrought 😔
Love it as always Dustin, such natural beauty all around you and such enjoyable engagement with you and your adventures! Keep up the great work 👍❤️
Brother respect to you I love how respectful you are of the cabins especially to not disclose its location if only others would do the same it’s sad enough to see these places that have had so much work to fall apart but even worse when vandals destroy them
I know you said the new rig would let you go to more places than ever, but it's amazing to see how far off the beaten path you really are getting this time! And you can tell you're loving every minute of it! And we as your viewers reap all the benefits from these amazing videos you share!
We have that horseshoe puzzle in our cottage too!! Wow this was a trip down memory lane! 😊
