Hey pack! Thank you all for being here with us each week. This week took an unexpected turn, it’s been a tough go these last few months here in NS. Thankfully we’re okay and we’re thinking of everyone it impacted. As for the siding- we will get there one day soon 😂
Please be safe all of You, take a quiet moment ( break), and watch out for those wild fire goes on, be safe Jasmine and Crystal. .. Love You pack 🐕🦺🐕🦺
All I can say is that I love you amazing ladies and you are both helping me with my mental health issues so thank you from the bottom of my heart as you both mean a lot to me ❤❤❤please stay safe and healthy and prayers and blessings for you both and your families and your beautiful puppies 🐶 love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤❤ I am watching you guys at 1,45 am here on Monday morning ❤❤❤
Unfortunately l heard they found the body of a 53 year old man and another of an unidentified man. Sadly there is still no sign if the two children who are missing and presumed drowned. Prayers for them and the families.
We had it bad here in Halifax with all the thunderstorms too Wrost I ever seen it take your time you guys will get it done love your videos can’t wait tell next Sunday
I am a 72 year old woman, my partner, and I live up in the mountains of Georgia. And because of you too, I have tried things I never would’ve before. Thank you, Sandy.
So glad that your damage was so minimal, and that you are both safe and well. The kitchen worktops look great and it makes your kitchen even lighter. Getting the strapping on is another step closer to having the siding on and it is transforming the whole look of your cabin, Have a wonderful week. Crystal please be careful with your back, it is too easy to overdo things and make your back pain increase. I know as I suffer daily with mine
I agree the countertops are so classy! I think I'd ruin anything close to white in a day lol, but isn't it so beautiful? People with back pain seem to be the kindest souls for how much chronic pain they suffer from. I can't imagine how hard it is to be kind when you hurt so often like that. People are astounding, and I'm so glad I get to witness people like you survive on this rock with us. I'm so glad you're here. ❤️ I hope you find many happy moments! You deserve them!
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through the terrible weather conditions, all around the world it’s just getting so extreme! On another note, the suspense is killing me what the siding is gonna look like! Take care, look after each other and most importantly stay safe ❤
Such a vibe seeing this on my feed after worrying all week about canada's weather news. I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE ALL OK! Thank you for easing the worry with updates lol.
You know, I am always touched by the little motions and moments that you two share with one another subtlety. The care you share with one another, others, your girls and home is beautiful. You made me think of an old song, "I love how you love me". I'll change it to, " I Love How You Love Her". And, I'm totally thankful that you are all okay. Hugs!
So happy you survived the terrible storm! Good for you for weather proofing the cabin,a lot of work well done.Very impressed with everything you have done.Looking forward to seeing you next week 💛
Doing the best you can with what comes is key to not being discouraged. You two set such an example of resilience and determination, every step of the way. This has a real positive impact on all who watch your videos. I wish I could express it better. Just know that the example you set as you work so hard to bring your dreams to fruition matters.
I am glad you came thru that terrible storm unscathed. Every time I hear about something happening in Nova Scotia I always wonder how you both are doing.
My dad lives on the 9th floor in a condo in Bedford overlooking the Basin. He said the storm was just something else to behold! The aftermath was just terrible for some people as well. I was in Halifax shortly after and it was amazing how quickly they had everything repaired. People are resilient. Maybe we can stop screwing with our environment in such a way as to cause these weather catastrophes now.
I am glad you survived the storm, and did more preparation on the cabin walls. Your kitchen tops look great. I have been wondering if you need shutters for your large windows, to protect them during bad storms. Your safety comes first. Love from Mike ❤❤
So very sorry for the severity of this level of storm! - had to be terrifying. As you say - thank gosh you have "off grid" setup! You made it through! Grateful to hear you are all safe.
I never heard this. I was lucky enough to have been able to visit Halifax twice while in the USN during the 90's. Loved it. I pray this people are safe.
1:12 knowing you two, it will be light colored. From white/tan/beige/sand (Scandinavian.) I can't wait to see the results! Also, I didn't realize you were having such severe weather, I'm so glad you're all okay!
Crystal and Jaz, SOOOOOOOOOOOOO very pleased that you were not heavily damaged due to the storm, appears you were well prepared and the more severe wheather luckily passed close but I am passing manner. I have good friends in Nova Scotia and unfortunately they were not so fortunate, got hit pretty hard. On a good note your progress on the homestead cabin is coming along quite nicely, your hard work is paying off. I look forward to what you two are willing to take on and totally accomplish through your teamwork. Congratulations. Stay Safe Stay Well & BDE!!!
This has got to be the wildest year ever world wide for weather and fires! I have been so focused on the fires following a few van lifers in CA, worried for them, but had missed this terrible, sad news about the flooding in Nova Scotia, somehow. I am so sorry for all this happening and all those affected by the fires and flooding. The storm over your cabin was terrifying! You're right, do not go out on the porch during a lightning storm! I hope the days following have been calmer and you can catch your breath, so thankful you 4 are safe.
That was a terrible storm we didn't see near as much rain as you guys got. I have said it before watching the two of you being In love and enjoy doing things together opened my eyes well not just you two but numbers of couples. I realize it was time for me to make a life changing decision I left my wife we were only staying together for our son but him seeing us fight all the time wasn't good either. Since then I have found an amazing woman we are so much in love we have the same hobbies and interests and love doing things together like cooking we love cooking together with a glass of wine or a beer and it mostly ends up in the two of us slow dancing in the kitchen like fools but it's great. So thank you for being part of what woke me up and started living life again.

Greetings from Tasmania, good job all that blue skinning corking, kitchen benches look lovely, nice choice of colour, glad your safe from storms, take care.🙏❤️👍😊
The counters are BEAUTIFUL! So glad you guys have such a solid roof above your heads to protect you from the storm! Must’ve been done by some pros 😉 No doubt you’ll crush the siding too. Glad everyone is safe!
So glad that you ladies made it through and the dogs are okay as well. My heart goes out to Nova Scotia wishing everybody there. Good wishes. Stay safe, Crystal and jazz 🐾🐾💛💛
Very glad you didn’t see bad flooding on your property. I bet that storm filled your rain reservoirs! Might be worth putting up some blackout curtains just for these situations so you and the pups can feel more secure. I have an appointment for August 28 with a great chiropractor to figure out some new exercises to help my back. (L5 vertebrae is shifted out of place causing spinal and foraminal stenosis, which is resulting in severe pain every day.) I’m hoping to avoid surgery. That is always a last resort even though they say it would be instant relief. I don’t feel comfortable being cut open just for this. I still get relief when I’m lying down. If it gets to the point that nothing gives relief that is when surgery becomes an option. God bless both of you. All four of you. You have no idea the benefit these videos have had and are having on all of us watching. I was in a pretty dark place a few years ago. Now I’m living in a van! 😂😂😂 I’m proud to be part of the pack.
So glad you and the girls made it safely through the storms!! Was thinking about you. Can't wait to see what the siding will look like! Love to you and the pack❣️🐾🐾🐾🐾
Countertops look fabulous!! It breaks my heart when dogs are scared in storms. Glad you 4 are all okay. You've got such a perfect site there. I think you will weather all your future storms very well.
Just relieved you both and the girls are safe. That was a massive storm and it came across in the video. Water is so strong and that was evident in the shocking damage it caused to so many roads and buildings. Stay safe xxxxxxx
I'm so glad you are safe from that storm. I have lived here all my life and have never experienced anything like it. We are safe....time to prepare for the next one....stay safe. Xoo
Recent viewer and had both of you and dogs on my mind watching your weather reports. So pleased to see you're all safe and well. Nice work too well done❤ from sth East Tasmania 😀👏👏
So glad you’re safe. In Australia from 2019 we’ve had fires, drought and last 2 years floods. The weather is mind blowing yet still we don’t change. I won’t be around for the worst of it, but as you say, “Mother Nature will always win”.
We live in one of the areas with alot of road wash outs. My parents basement flooded and it was difficult to get to a hardware store, lots of detours. We checked our cabin the next day and were relieved to find our road still intact since it's been washing out from lesser rainfalls. Our cabin lot is also super wet so we were worried. All was ok. 😊 We have certainly gone from hot and dry to wet and soggy! We have been trying to put a fresh coat of stain on our cabin all summer and depending on weekend weather has made it a challenge for sure. We completely understand how frustrating the rainy weather has been!
Wow!!!! Sooooo glad you guys are safe!!! That looked like an amazing storm!!!!! Can’t wait to see the new siding on the cabin!!!! Love you guys!!! Be safe!!!😊😊😊😊
I think the counters will be white! I was right! Great choice, ladies! So sorry about the storm that hit you guys. So good that you guys built that cabin well! It’s a testament to all your hard work that if it was able to withstand a storm like that you know nothing is going to take it down. Relieved that you all were safe. ❤I’m right outside of Vegas right now and we are expected to get torrential rain starting this afternoon from hurricane Hillary.
Wow that was weeks ago, didn't realize the delay on your videos. Home town Nova Scotia old lady now in Nevada, , but still have family there. Hoping you get the siding up seemlessly!
In New Hampshire we’ve had so much rain this summer. I have a garden and haven’t had to water it all summer. That was quite a storm glad everyone is okay.
Hi girls hope you and your dogs are well out there another top video full of content and well informed video with a bit a fun in there stay safe out there with your dogs
Loving all of your content!! I’ve been quite sick the last two weeks & I’ve binged watch all of the cabin series! Love seeing you girl smash it & thank you for motivating me to get out on my 40 acres and start building!
Yeah. We get thunderstorms that badly here too ( Connecticut ) and they've shaken the apartment ( we live on the second floor ). It's the heat, the hotter it is the worse the storm. I've got relatives in Nanaimo ( Vancouver Island ) and I think it was last year that it rained so bad that roads were just as washed out there too.
We used to get floods like that almost every year when it rained and the snow was melting off the mountain the river would come up and flood the whole town area the lower part of it we used to have the sandbag houses alongside the river and I still remember my uncle having to paddle a boat from his front door to the street to get his kids to school in the morning because our Creek which was called Morrison Creek flooded higher in his place while his whole yard his house never got flooded I don't think I think his graduates did but all the kids from the schools had to go help sandbag houses
Thankful you are all doing alright and made it through the fires and the storms. I hope the siding project goes smoothly from here forward so you will be weatherproofed for the winter. See you next week.
Thank goodness you guys are okay, there was also a strong flood in the river that happened here in our town and a person was swept away and his body was found 2 towns away from us😥
Hi. Wow that storm was ferocious. Yous must've been so frightened. We have storms here in UK but nothing as bad as you poor guys. Glad to see your all safe and well. God bless those that have been affected by this storm. Amazing content. Take care and stay safe guys. ❤❤🙏🙏
The weather in Canada has been crazy all summer but I have to admit that your end of it has been hit like it’s never been hit before. When that storm came accross Quebec my sister and I were saying we had never seen a storm like it.
Thanks for sharing not as bad in southern ontario but we are in Sarnia Ontario and we have had the most rain in the province not as much flooding but so many trees down and power outages but not for too long as had power out for 5 hours so sump pump was not working so did have water in basment but not too much glad as had just put in a new furnace and hot water tank in January of this year ! Stay safe girls enjoy your videos you two are power works always wanted to work with tools but not allowed in school back in the day of home economic so and shop now we are talking 1968 lol now 68 and lost my husband Feb 2020 and working on our hot rod and home by myself but will have to hire someone help when budget will allow but do enjoy working on things just wish they they had too school when we were in school for women! You should be so proud of what you too have accomplished! 😀😍
pretty scary weather all across the globe...good thing you stayed safe...poor doggies...my 12 year old beagle doesn't like storms at all...look forward to seeing the siding...you two are awesome
Another great video, wives, (girls?, ladies?, gals?-what's approriate?) Jaz and Crystal, anyway, your goal about living off the grid has totally come true, because you're now proven to take any weather. Cheers from the (smokey) Pacific West Coast of Canada.
When I think back to what your home was on that day you arrived, I am beyond proud of you both for what you have accomplished. Although you are sometimes stuck on a problem, in the end you figure it out and succeed in your goals. What you must think as you look around and realize what you have managed to do. Sometimes with help but still this is your dreams coming to life. This is proof of that saying we have all heard. “If you want it bad enough and you are willing to work for it. You can do anything that you set your mind to doing.”
My trick to keep dogs from being scared from thunder or fireworks is to put them in the laundry room with the dryer set to 'Air' (no heat) and let it run. The drone of the dryer helps to drown out the thunder/fireworks. An option is to put them in the quietest place in the house and play some white or pink noise over speakers. You can even make a safe place (like the forts we made as kids) out of shipping blankets which muffle sound. Put the dog's beds in there. My sister's Golden would be terrified from loud noises and I tried the dryer trick and she fell asleep on the floor and stayed there even though I had the door to the laundry room open enough she could have walked out. I had a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (smallest of the retrievers) / Irish Setter mix male, Buddy, who would sleep through the noise. I think there was one time when a really loud thunderclap hit and I saw his ear twitch. He didn't have a hearing problem either. I adopted him when he was about 6 years old. He didn't make a peep for the first two weeks I had him. I thought maybe he had something wrong with him but it turns out he was just an amazing dog.....
Great video. Right in the middle of watching it, we got a flash flood warning from National Weather Service. We live in the desert area of California, and we're being rained on right now by Huttican Hillary. At first, I didn't know if that was part of your video or for us. When I saw Riverside County, I knew it was for us. It's fun when life imitates art. Or happens the same as art. I'm glad you made it through your storm. We are still going thru ours.
Hi Crystal, I have noticed you are still having back pain. I know you are seeing a specialist but I thought I'd offer you some personal experience on what you may be experiencing. At sixteen I felt a sharp pain in my lower back from lifting a juniper bush out of a station wagon. My back never stopped hurting from that day forward. In college at 21 I sometimes walked to class in the morning bent at an angle just so I could get to my classes. This kind of pain went on for many years. At age 39 the pain was so bad from the sciatic pain running down my leg I went to an orthopedic surgeon. What he discovered was I had a herniated disc and needed surgery (1992). It was so bad it took them 5 hours to remove most of the herniated disc pieces so that they would no longer pinch the nerves in my back and cause all the pain. Although my back still aches from the lost disc, it is much much better and I have never experienced a high level of pain from that time forward. Example pain level went from a 10 to a 3. It is possible that all you have is a bulging disc and with time and treatment your back will recover. I suggest that if the current treatment you are receiving does not resolve your back pain, then I suggest you see an orthopedic surgeon and request an MRI so they can determine what is causing your back pain. I know this sounds like a cliche but " I feel your pain". Hope you get better soon without having to visit an orthopedic surgeon. :)
You girls are lucky that you live in the country where the rain could be absorbed into the ground, for the most part. Wow! That's a crazy amount of rain. I guess we could expect that to occur more in the future because the oceans are getting warmer and with warmer ocean temps, the atmosphere could hold more water in it, creating more rain.
I think you've just found your next project - a storm shelter! Also, consider attaching your Starlink dish to your house, a power pole or some other grounded structure. They have accessories for that and it will reduce the chance of lightning damage.
I have to say, when it rains in Nova Scotia, it doesn't mess around, IT RAINS cats and dogs and that new roof was money well spent! The house is looking very smurfy and everything is "Crystal Clear and All that Jazz!!! 😋
If you want to know how far away the lightning is, just count the seconds. Sound travels about 1100FPS, so if you do the math, it works out to about 4-5/8 seconds per mile. Often, there will be 2 parts to the lightning/thunder, the near part, (in the cloud) and the far part, (the actual ground strike). So if you start counting 1001, 1002, the 1st thunder is distance lightning was to you in the cloud overhead, and if you KEEP counting, the time to the BIG boom is the distance to where the lightning made the ground strike, (about a 1/4 mile per second). Sorry your Starlink got fried. There's a couple things to look for before you give up. 1st, there may be a built in lightning arrestor that needs to be changed, or there may be an in-line fuse that blew and needs to be replaced. Good luck, and thanks for sharing.
We have storms like this very frequent in Florida, but that storm dumped an amazing amount of water. During Hurricane Ian last Sept we got 26 inches of rain in 16 hours and had so many bridges damaged, flooding everywhere.

Glad you guys are ok. Sending love and positive vibes to all effected by the storm ❤🙏
Thank you xx
Just relieved you both and the girls are safe. That was a massive storm and it came across in the video. Water is so strong and that was evident in the shocking damage it caused to so many roads and buildings. Stay safe xxxxxxx
I'm so glad you are safe from that storm. I have lived here all my life and have never experienced anything like it. We are safe....time to prepare for the next one....stay safe. Xoo
Yes we must all have a plan A, B and C and be prepared. 💛🐾
So glad you stayed safe with all the flooding. I’m so glad you’re ok and sending love to anyone affected by it!!! 😢 ❤ The counters are BEAUTIFUL!
Recent viewer and had both of you and dogs on my mind watching your weather reports. So pleased to see you're all safe and well. Nice work too well done❤ from sth East Tasmania 😀👏👏
Welcome to our pack, happy to have you with us from south east Tasmania. Thank you for your kind words. 💛🐾
Glad your OK, my thoughts are with Canada and those affected.
Take care of yourselves!!! Thankfully you are through the worst of it!!! 🥰❤️🥰 🐶 🐶
Yes!!!! Hoping we will have a few months without intense weather. Fingers crossed!
So glad you’re safe. In Australia from 2019 we’ve had fires, drought and last 2 years floods. The weather is mind blowing yet still we don’t change. I won’t be around for the worst of it, but as you say, “Mother Nature will always win”.
Planning on leaving anytime soon. All around NSW we are as dry as 2019/20…. We are wanting rain
Good morning Ladies! Glad you made it through ok. Take care Pack! 💛💛🐾🐾
Thank Suzy, happy to have you on our pack. 💛🐾
Morning ! Sunday, best day of the week! #cabinrenos ❤
Hey Jeannie, thanks for always following our journey.💛🐾
Glad you are safe! And no major damage to the cabin and everything else. Looking forward to the next episode.
Glad you and everyone are okay.
Thanks! 💛
Wow that was weeks ago, didn't realize the delay on your videos. Home town Nova Scotia old lady now in Nevada, , but still have family there. Hoping you get the siding up seemlessly!
Yay a new videooo
Exited to watch but most importantly hope y’all are safe!!!
Thank you, yes we are safe. Thinking of everyone that was impacted by the storm… 💛

It's crazy how you both strive and survive and document all this!! You both are amazing . Thanks for sharing so much.
We are all well, thank you Colin for all your kind words. 🌞🐾
We had the same storms and flooding y’all had about a month ago in central Mississippi.Mainly Winston County and Choctaw County.
Do you guys have a emergency supply of food? Good to see you guys safe 🤍🌸
We do have quite a bit of stock!
When Jaz was thanking Gosh for things I would like to thank God for keeping you 2 safe during that weather event and thank gosh you have each other.
We feel very grateful for sure. 💛🐾
Time to build the ark!
Right! 👀
Be safe are prays are with you and y’all neighbors ❤
Loving all of your content!! I’ve been quite sick the last two weeks & I’ve binged watch all of the cabin series! Love seeing you girl smash it & thank you for motivating me to get out on my 40 acres and start building!
Yeah. We get thunderstorms that badly here too ( Connecticut ) and they've shaken the apartment ( we live on the second floor ). It's the heat, the hotter it is the worse the storm.
I've got relatives in Nanaimo ( Vancouver Island ) and I think it was last year that it rained so bad that roads were just as washed out there too.
Wow, that was a very bad storm. I am so glad that all 4 of you guys are safe and sound and undamaged!
Thank you thank you xx see you then
Thank goodness you guys are okay, there was also a strong flood in the river that happened here in our town and a person was swept away and his body was found 2 towns away from us😥
Wonderfully produced, heartfelt video ladies. So proud of your muscle and compassion
Oh my goodness! So glad you’re all ok. ❤
Thanks for sharing not as bad in southern ontario but we are in Sarnia Ontario and we have had the most rain in the province not as much flooding but so many trees down and power outages but not for too long as had power out for 5 hours so sump pump was not working so did have water in basment but not too much glad as had just put in a new furnace and hot water tank in January of this year ! pretty scary weather all across the globe...good thing you stayed safe...poor doggies...my 12 year old beagle doesn't like storms at all...look forward to seeing the siding...you two are awesome
Another great video, wives, (girls?, ladies?, gals?-what's approriate?) Jaz and Crystal, anyway, your goal about living off the grid has totally come true, because you're now proven to take any weather. Cheers from the (smokey) Pacific West Coast of Canada.
Surviving the storm is a testament to the great job you did on the cabin. You always do it right and it paid off in spades. True off-grid! Well done!!
As this tropical storm is hitting us here in Southern California our power is out but I also have solar and am rocking normally enjoying the rain.
Right! I agree the rain is beautiful and calming to watch in most cases. Hope your power comes back in soon. 🌞🐾
so glad you got through that ordeal, as always great to see the updates, see you next week, much love
So relieved you girls are safe ! I saw the news , was worried about ya'll. Can't wait to see the siding finished as I know you do,too!
Keep the camera steady, girls. I'm glad you are all safe.. Nice kitchen
You should add a safe room on the back of your cabin solid concrete
Thanks!
Thank you for all your tips and ideas. We will have to try these in the future. Happy you have such an amazing dog.
💛🐾
Going to look awesome when your siding is up ! weather tight for winter ! stay safe ladies 😀
I'm so glad you are so self-reliant, and y'all just caught a glimpse of living in Florida! You have been initiated. ❤
You ladys are amazing, I've been following you on and off over the years , well done for giving it a go and succeeding
We have storms like this very frequent in Florida, but that storm dumped an amazing amount of water. During Hurricane Ian last Sept we got 26 inches of rain in 16 hours and had so many bridges damaged, flooding everywhere.
It is amazing how powerful water is and how quickly it can come down. Hopefully we can all look forward to better weather.🌞🐾
Glad you all are safe😊✌️👍👋🐾😊🤗
Hi ladies and puppies!👋🐾
So happy everyone is safe and trying your best to stay dry! ❤
