Just the two of you...taking a section and working on it. Aimee's skill with the sledgehammer is on par with mine. Well, she did better because she actually was able to lift it. 😂 Seeing Aimee tackle all the jobs, has given me hope that I can contribute when we get our first home. It will not be a fixer-upper, but seeing Aimee go for it, makes me happy. Sending love from Phoenix, Arizona. Can't wait to see the next video!

We have lived in our house for 7 years and are surrounded by one row of blue spruce that divide us from our neighbors on three sides. Every year the spruce have grown anywhere from 10 to 14 inches. So, over a period of 7 years, that's an average of 7 ft in added height. It's amazing how they look now! 😮❤😊

A row of spindly spruce trees are unlikely to last long in this environment. The winds would likely get them. Although slower growing a mixture of native deciduous like Rowan and Silver Birch and Scots Pine trees will cope better, will be more attractive and bring in more wildlife.

Cement render traps in the wet unable to dry out and basically destroys lime built buildings.

Yes cement is non impervious and to hard a material, it allways cracks then let's in the water unable to escape, then topped with plastic masonry paint it has no chance to ever dry out. Don't ever replace with the same materials which is causing the damp in the first place

Cement is impervious, it doesn’t breathe. Putting non in front of impervious is not what you mean. Lime pointing, mortars and renders all the way. The line pointing is the wick to move moisture and stop it being trapped and causing damp.

That way, you would have another feature wall using stone from your property. ❤😊 Since you're going to be covering the walls two deaden the sounds for your studio, you could actually take all of the walls down (except those that are cemented/grouted/pointed in) and replace them with cinder block walls (or whatever type of blocks you use over there in Scotland). By doing so you could also make sure there is a membrane on the outside that would hold all of the water back and have it properly drain away from the building.

woahh, nice to see all the progress like this...
I know you said you don't want the double side fireplace because that's where the kitchen goes, but what if you can make a wood/log kitchen stove, so it's a normal wood burner on one side but an oven on the other.
Path from the bedroom to the garden house, woodchip! it looks amazing still is very natural so you can keep the nature vibe in the area. We did a woodchip path in our wildgarden, and it looks so pretty.
I think you mentioned this before, but that area where you were going to put the garden house before has a lot of sun, so you could totally have a vegetable garden in there

Plans looks outstanding now remember that don't panic when things go bad or slowed down that's all part of renovations you will get there don't over extend yourselves ! If have to do it in stages some of your outside plans could take a couple of years ! We bought our tiny home in 2001 around 700 square feet plus full basement is a full basement! Furnace room laundry and sewing room now working on family room sadly Joe passed away Feb 2020 so getting it done myself with help with my twin and a friend help me put up a new ceiling that was biggest job ! Took from March till July! Then work got in the way ! Sofa was delivered on Friday now working on recovering an old rocker hope get it done in a week ! So close will be ready for Christmas the room is 12 by 19 feet good size very happy so far now to get sewing ! But every stage is exciting enjoy every moment be proud of what you two accomplish each time you work on it as your vision comes to life ! So you don't get discouraged you will get there ! Time on your side I am 70 so not as much time as you two but I enjoy working with my hands ! Congratulations guys you are doing great ! Sad that Joe no longer here but we did build a Studebaker pickup hot rod fromm 1999 to 2003 and took to shows for many years that was our big achievement we loved traveling in the truck our happy place like custard but cannot live in it ! But it's okay Joe came in my life later at 44 years young had amazing time with him and celebrate him everyday ! Cheers ! Thanks for sharing

It will look amazing when it is finish but keep tight on your budget all so have a reserve because what you think it will be it won't be stock up on food and your house in the garden put a woodburner in it and live in it through the winter you will be thankful you did scotlands winters can be brutal I wish you luck on the next chapter of your life hug each other have positive thoughts and say we can do it it will be stressful but wow what a place when it's finish

its going to be fab when your done, You may not own the view but you can control what you see with some planting. Keep the log burner or replace with some kind of fire, that will work if you have no power! Living in remote places, it's always good to have a alternative way to heat or cook if the power goes out, even if you have backup power!

Would highly recommend Eclisse pocket doors. We have 3 in our renovation, and fit into a 4x2 stud wall, and seem to be the tidiest option we've found. Bit more expensive but carpenter told us they were much easier than most to fit.

Definitely keep the fire. The number of times we have power failures during the winter storms .... and we also have 2 propane gas bottles for our kitchen hob so no matter what the weather we can always be warm and cook a hot meal and boil the kettle. Amazing project you've got there 😊
