Garden Tip: don’t plan projects at harvest time. Harvesting food, washing prepping, canning, storing and prepping your garden for next year takes more time than you think 😊.

*Sigh* I hope I take my own advice this year 😂 I wish I was a better canner but it takes soooo long!!! And if you get it just a little bit wrong you either waste your beautiful homegrown food or spend days in the loo 🤭 So prep vac seal and freeze it is and even that takes time and has to happen right as things are ready to get the best freshness and it’s not like I have a huge garden 😂😂

One thing my wife and I learned in our fifty years together is to never go to bed without saying I love you. Even if that was the only thing we said to each other that day. We always found the next day was going to be find. And like Crystal says we were joined at the hip and did absolutely everything together.

Crystal!!! I have to tell you about a term I invented!! Harrytrekwars. I don't watch and refuse to spend time on Harry Potter, start trek and star wars. I have nothing against them, it's just not for me. I invented this term 16 years ago and I've held true! I just wanted to you know you are not alone on those! When someone references one of those I just tell them "harrytrekwars" and they they go "oh that's right. You wouldn't know" lol it's a thing!

I have been slogging away in my garden for the past week, loving every minute of it and aching from head to toe. This 65 year old body feels everything - but, that’s okay. It is so nice to sit down and watch this podcast. You have made me relax and just enjoy hearing your perspectives. BTW - on occasion, I do go to bed angry and I usually wake up with a better perspective. 😂🤣😂 FYI - one of the best garden channels on RUclips is Garden Answer. What about a screen door to help solve your indoor bird and spider problem? It’s not as nice as having an open doorway, but it beats co-habitating with spiders half the size of your hand!
I lived with gigantic spiders in my young crazy days and to this day I don’t know how I did it, haha.

WHOA WHOA WHOA I can relate with not seeing Harry Potter, but Mean Girls too? OMG!
Knowing where and how an animal was raised is most important.... my grandparent's, and my dad's family is one of the most prolific farms ,once dairy, then horses, then pigs, then now bison.. but acres of plant life as well.... they raised all of us to respect the land and animals. You take care of both and the best thing to do is when it comes to either... make it quick and be thankful... home grown farm families get why meat is sold... they also understand why. Soy beans chickpeas, eggs, corn, pumpkin, squash, zucchini, salsa, and everything in it.
What comes across with you ladies is you’re living a authentic life to you and for me that’s what so attractive about you ladies luv from Brian

I love watching the podcast, it feels so cozy, like friends around a campfire. Maybe its all the blankets and sleepy puppies. Whenever I need motivation to write I tune in and feel my own energy go up from seeing both of you interact with each other and us. Have you ever thought of sharing some of your recipies? I know I've been jealous of some of the tastey treats I see you eat, especially the pizzas!!

I am loving the podcast! Only found it after last week and really makes my late nights laughable listening to you both! Crystal loving the seek discomfort merch too! You both are bossing it with how you present yourselves as creatives and it is a genuine pleasure seeing allof the proects come to fruition through your hard work and determination. I started growing my own food in my garden here in Spain two years ago and I am obsessed ever since, so the gardening obsession is real! Plus the saving on fruit and veggies is amazing!

I use orange essential oil with a little water in a spray bottle. This keeps the spiders away. I would do the outside perimeter and in closets. ❤

Pro tip LOL: 1) Put on a screen door for fresh air, 2) Put decals on the windows that you don’t mind looking at; intersperse them on the windows. We do this in NH USA to keep birds from flying into the windows & getting hurt or dying. But, true story:
My Mom’s house had a sliding glass door between two rooms. During a family gathering, my niece came running from one room to the other. Oops! The door was closed. Man, she bounced off that door like a basketball & had an egg on her forehead about the size of one too. I felt horrible for her & went to love her up; brought her to her mom, who was one of my sisters. Poor kid.
I know I’m going to h*ll l, bc I’m laughing so hard right now remembering the look on her face, that I can barely type this. Ya, so after that we stenciled & cut out apple (represent love) window decals (you can probably buy them) so that wouldn’t happen to anyone else. OMG though, that was too funny thinking about it later & since.😂
PS Please don’t put up window decals of birds so the birds mistake your windows for a place to try to mate. Ouch.
But please put on a screen door; at least keep the rats out (& other zoo animals. Haha).
BTW, you don’t want to get bats in your attic; they’re great for eating mosquitoes but would be difficult to get out. My great-grandfather used to put a blanket gently over them & release them outdoors. He was a State Biologist after all & they are cute but can carry rabies.

Yes on gardening. Just spent 3 hours at a plant sale, ornamentals and edibles.
I went Plant Based for 4 years and was never so out of sorts in my life. I had rashes, back pain, arthritic like pain thru my knuckles and knees, I bloated up 40lbs and couldn't sleep. I was tired all the time, had vertigo and sweat profusely. I was a super clean vegan eating only tofu, beans, and quinoa with veg, fruit and loads of water. Didn't eat sweets or chips, no alcohol either. When I went back to eating animal protein everything changed. I lost 40lbs, all my pains ceased, I started sleeping well and all the other yucky things went away. My dietician said my body could not process carbs like other peoples. I now eat gluten free and only meats and green veg. I feel like a million bucks. Plant Based if definitely not for everyone, but good for you all to be able to .

What’s really helped me is when my therapist told me anger isn’t an emotion it’s a reaction. And I’ve been learning how to control both emotions and actions.
Your convos and opinions are truly so down to earth, authentic and accepting of everyone… to just be who you need to be.
You two are wise beyond your years and I love seeing you spread your zest and love for life. Your messages are so on point…especially to young people. And especially in today’s world … where just watching the news can bring you down. Instead, I choose to watch crystal and jaz … you two bring me up. ❤️❤️❤️
When I watch RUclips…..it’s either building or gardening. I have learned so much. I have 2-4X16 and 1-4X12 raised beds and some containers. I still have food in the freezer from last year.

We have a backyard garden. We built a greenhouse in 2020 during the pandemic. We live in Midwest USA. This year it’s been very hot so it hasn’t produced the amount as in the past but we love it. We talk about constantly. This year we had a wild duck 🦆 mallard come and nest in our flower bed. It was amazing watching and waiting for the ducklings to hatch. She only had one hatch. Within 6-8 hours she took the baby to a pond couple blocks a day. We named him/herWalker and his/her mom Thelma. It was amazing.
My sons ADHD classroom the teacher was awesome. She didn’t have a set schedule. If the kids were bouncing when they got to school she would go outside first. If they were chill then they would do desk time. It was the best grade he was ever in.
There are los of moose in Nova Scotia…they’re on Cape Breton Island 😊
